    Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Can-Am Spyder F3 and RT motorcycles. The engine output shaft may fatigue and break, resulting in a loss of drive power.

    A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

    The output shaft will be replaced based on the mileage of the vehicles. Owner notification letters were mailed February 5, 2025. Owners may contact BRP customer service at 1-888-272-9222.

    Bombardier Recreational Products, Inc. (BRP) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Can-Am Spyder F3 and RT motorcycles. The front sprocket may be defective and prematurely wear, resulting in a loss of drive power.

    A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

    Dealers will perform an interim repair until parts become available. Once parts are available, the front sprocket will be replaced, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 26, 2022. Owners may contact BRP customer service at 1-888-272-9222.

    The contact owns a 2018 Can-Am Spyder F3. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V728000 (POWER TRAIN); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

    While riding at approximately 65 miles per hour, the vehicle started to get slower and slower until it eventually came to a stop. The vehicle had 15,451 miles on the odometer at the time of the failure and had to be towed to a dealership for inspection / repair. The dealer advised that the shaft that the sprocket rides on had excessive play and that the intermediate shaft failed / snapped.

    2018 SPYDER F3. CONSUMER WRITES SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS MADE RELATED TO NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 22V-352. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER DUE TO THEM HAVING POOR SERVICE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT LOCAL SHOP THAT SPECIALIZES IN THE SPYDER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BEREIMBURSED FROM THE MANUFACTURER BUT THEY ONLY OFFERED REIMBURMENT FOR THE COST OF THE PARTS NOT LABOR.
