General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2016-2021 Chevrolet Malibu and 2019-2021 Cadillac XT4 vehicles. The rear seat belt retractors may be improperly secured with loose or missing fasteners.
An improperly secured seat belt retractor may not function properly in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Dealers will inspect and tighten the rear seat belt retractors, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 17, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N212333380.

GM 2019 Chevrolet Malibu - Report Shift to Park Issue - Mileage 13,784. I would like to report a Shift-to-Park problem I had with my 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. Approximately two weeks prior to this service call I started experiencing a problem with Engine Start/Stop button and “shift to park” message on instrument panel. Pressing Start/Stop button would not turn off engine. It took several attempts to completely turn off engine. Two weeks and issue was getting progressively worse. Finally on Wednesday, March 29th and having started driving errands, I could not turn off engine at all. I could not get out of the car without warning beeps going off. I immediately drove to Dealer Service as I felt unsafe to drive. Dealer Service performed and I picked up car on Thursday, March 30, 2023. They replaced shifter switch and installed jumper harness. Again, I do want to report issue as this car has only 13,784 miles. Thank you,

Vehicle cuts off daily. This has been going on for months. A message shows up saying put the car in neutral to restart. Battery and alternator have been tested more than once and they are not the issue. The car cut off while I was in traffic driving across a bridge! I had to get help pushing the car to the side of the road. This particular time the car would not start back up without a jump. Majority of the time while at a red light, it cuts off. After replacing rotors, brake pads, and brake pump, braking is still rough with screeching and grinding leaving lots of brake dust on the wheels. At times the brakes go all the way down.

This car is displaying a shift to park on the dashboard. I have read several complaints and even lawsuits filed about this matter on the internet. Why hasn't this been recalled to fix on these vehicles it drains the battery and you aren't able to put the vehicle in park or lock the doors or anything

PURCHASED MY 2019 MALIBU LT IN SEPTEMBER. ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO THE SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE STARTED APPEARING. IT SOMETIMES TAKES ABOUT 1O MINUTES TO FINALLY GET T HIS CLEARED.

When car is shifted in to park it is not registering that the car is in park and a message comes up that says to “shift to park” even though the car is already shifted in park

Vehicle has 38,000 miles and I keep getting the “Shift to Park” error message. The dealer said it is an “ongoing problem” with these vehicles as the “electronic sensor” is not registering that the car is in “park”. Problem is all features (parking lights, dash message, alarm “Bong-bong sound” and radio stay on and drain the battery. I am getting it replaced but if this is a “known problem” why don’t they do a recall and fix it?

I'M NOT SURE WHAT'S WRONG, BUT WHEN I STOP AND START MY VEHICLE BACK UP WITH THE AUTO START I CAN HEAR SOMETHING LIKE WATER FLUSHING OR RUNNING THROUGH MY DASHBOARD. MOST OF THE TIME MY VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT WHEN I PRESS THE GAS, IS DRIVING OR TURNING MOST OF THE TIME IT DON'T WON'T TO GO. I ALMOST GOT HIT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BECAUSE I WOULD TRY TO TURN AND THE CAR WILL STALL BARLEY GOING. THIS HAS CAUSE A LOT OF FRUSTRATIONS. I HAVE HAD MY CAR SINCE AUGUST OF 2020 AND IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE 2-3 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING IT. I HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION BECAUSE I HAVE LUPUS AND I'M TRIED AND HAVE RANDOM FLARES.

AFTER CAR IS TURNED OFF AND IN PARK, THE DASH LIGHT STATES TO "PUT IN PARK" EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS IN PARK, THE LIGHT WON'T GO AWAY UNTIL THE SHIFTER IS WIGGLED BACK AND FORTH, AND SIDEWAYS WAY TOO MANY TIMES, I AM AFRAID THE BATTERY WILL RUN DOWN IF LEFT LIKE THAT, WITH THE LIGHT STILL BEING ON.

WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT THE AUTO START WILL ENGAGE. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN AND YOU RELEASE THE BREAK THE CAR WON'T MOVE. THE CAR NEEDS TO BE PLACED IN PARK TURNED COMPLETELY OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. NO WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON, DEARLER SHIP CANT FIND WHATS WRONG.
