I'm driving mi dogde hard steering

  2. Steering, Oct 23, 2023

While driving the vehicle the steering became very difficult, to the point I could not control my car and had to pull over. The steering seem to have locked up while driving. I had it towed to auto repair shop which I was advised I had to change the power steering pump. That's not in my budget.

  3. Steering, Electrical system, Nov 10, 2022

Power steering locks up, power steering fuses have blown three times in less than three months and there are thumping noises and vibrations when making turns.

  4. Steering, Other or unspecified, Jun 29, 2022

Intermittent disabling of the steering system resulting in multiple lights (abs, etc.) and steering locking up with the car in gear with no prior indication of an issue and no warning light or message prior to failure then today this happened along with delayed start and the power steering system fail message presented so g with the car steering locking up and the car becoming immovable while in gear. This followed by the car not starting at all and remaining immovable requiring a rollback tow.

Power steering failure while I was driving. Luckily this did not result in an accident. no lights or warnings just went out

  8. Steering, Suspension, Wheels, Feb 4, 2021

THE STEERING STARTED GRABBING AND SQEALING AROUND 81K MILES WHEN I TURN. SOMETIMES IT WOULD BECOME VERY HARD TO CONTROL WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO TURN SUCH AS AT RED LIGHTS OR IN A DRIVE THRU. NO LIGHTS OR SENSORS EVER CAME ON. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ONLINE THERE ARE SEVERAL 2013 DODGE CHARGERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE TO HAVE REPAIRED. I OPTED TO HAVE IT FIXED BUT I FEEL THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. I HAD THE GEAR RACK AND PINION AND POWER PUMP REPLACED.

  9. Steering, Jan 14, 2021

WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR SIGNS OF FAILURE, THE POWER STEERING WILL COMPLETELY GO OUT WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN. FOR YOUNGER DRIVERS THAT HAVE NEVER DRIVEN A VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER STEERING, THIS WILL MAKE THEM CRASH. THIS IS A POLICE PURSUIT VEHICLE, SO WE MAKE LEFT TURNS AT HIGHER RATES OF SPEED THAN AVERAGE DRIVER. THIS COULD KILL A PEDESTRIAN, THE DRIVER, ANOTHER DRIVER OF A CAR THEY WOULD HIT. READING FORUMS, THIS IS HAPPENING A LOT AND VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX FOR THE AVERAGE PERSON. PLEASE GET THIS TO RECALL STATUS. WE SERVICE OUR VEHICLES FREQUENTLY AND IT GIVES NO WARNING THAT IT IS NOT WORKING, JUST STEERING FAILURE.

  10. Steering, Oct 27, 2020, crash

WHEN TURNING LEFT, POWER STEERING WENT OUT COMPLETELY, I WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE TURN AND WENT ACROSS TWO LANES OF HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. VEHICLE PREFORMED FINE PRIOR TO INCIDENT. THERE WERE 3 INJURIES IN THE ACCIDENT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE OUT OF A PARKING SPOT, THE STEERING CEASED WITH THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SUBJECTED TO AN UNSTATED RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO MORITZ CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (9101 CAMP BOWIE W BLVD #2, FORT WORTH, TX 76116, (817) 696-2100). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,161.

WHEN LEAVING ON DRIVE TODAY STEADING WHEEL HARD TO TURN AND WAS MAKING VIBRATING NOISE HARD TO TURN LEFT TO RIGHT

  13. Steering, Air bags, Jul 12, 2020

MY AIR BAG FOR MY STEERING WHEEL IS DEFECTED, MY CONTROLS THAT CONTROL THE CRUISE, HORN AND RADIO, DOES NOT WORK AT ALL.

  14. Steering, Electrical system, Electronic stability control (ESC), Jun 25, 2020

WHILE DRIVING MY BATTERY LIGHT COME ON. THAT IS DUE TO ALTERNATOR MALFUNCTION. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPEN ALL MY ELECTRICAL DEVICES WHERE GOING ON AND OFF. AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND UNLOCKED DUE TO BEING A ELECTRONIC STEERING. WHAT I DID I TRIED TO PULL OVER AND STOP AT A SAFE PLACE AND WAITING AND THE VEHICLE WHEN BACK TO NORMAL MODE EXCEPT THE BATTERY LIGHT STAYED ON AND THE MESSAGE IN MY CLUSTER THAT SAID "BATTERY SAFE MODE". SO I WENT BACK HOME AND CHECKED THE VOLTAGE ON MY BATTERY THAT READ 11.8 TO 12.3. SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE RECALL OF THE ALTERNATOR. THE DEALER REPLACED IT AND SAID IT'S OK NOW. I TOOK IT HOME AND ON THE WAY HOME IT HAPPEN AGAIN AND I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND GOT IT CHECKED. AND THEY SAID THEY FOUND CORROSION THE SIGNAL PLUG OF THE ALTERNATOR. THEY CLEANED IT AND SAID IT OK NOW. A WEEK PASSED BY AND IT HAPPEN AGAIN ALL ELECTRICAL STARTED TO TURN ON AND OFF INCLUDING THE STEERING LOCKING UP AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. AND I TOOK IT BACK AGAIN TO THE DEALER. AND NOW THEY SAID THEY HAVE TO CHARGE ME TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE IF IT'S NOT THE ALTERNATOR. CHARGING SYSTEM IS NOT PART OF THE ALTERNATOR AND THEY CHARGE FOR THAT ISSUE. ISN'T THE CHARGING SYSTEM PART OF THE ALTERNATOR LIKE THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR THAT IS IN THE PCM? IF THAT IS A BAD COMPONENT AND MAKING THE ALTERNATOR MALFUNCTION IT'S A PROBLEM FOR NOT MAKING ANY CURRENT. ALL THIS HAPPEN IN MOTION ON STREET AND ON HIGHWAY. ALL THIS STARTED ON JUNE 3 2020 TILL NOW JUNE 25 2020. *TR

  15. Steering, Engine, Jan 14, 2020

48HRS AFTER I RECEIVED AND OIL CHANGE I WAS DRIVING TO VICTORVILLE CALIFORNIA FROM SAN BERNARDINO CALIFORNIA AND AS I WAS EXITING MY EXIT MY CAR TURNED OFF AS I WAS DRIVING. CAR WOULD NOT START. TRIED TO JUMP IT AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. I TOWED IT TO THE SHOP AFTER SOME TROUBLESHOOTING THEY SAID IT WAS THE ENGINE.. IT HAD LOCKED UP. I WAS QUOTED $2500 FOR REPAIRS

  16. Steering, Oct 26, 2019

POWER STEERING WILL INTERMITTENTLY QUIT WORKING AT FIRST START, WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE STREET OR HIGHWAYS AND TURNING FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS.

  17. Steering, Sep 12, 2019

LOSS OF POWER STEERING..WHEN STATIONARY AND WHEN IN MOTION.. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SCARY ...I HAVE ALSO HEARD FROM OTHERS OWNERS OF THE PURSUIT MODEL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM...THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL!

  18. Steering, Engine, Aug 5, 2019

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE AWD, AND BRAKE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING ABILITY SEIZED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO PISCHKE MOTOR OF LA CROSSE (434 4TH ST S, LA CROSSE, WI 54601), BUT IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000. *TT *TR

  19. Steering, Jul 8, 2019, crash

WHEN DRIVING, POWER STEERING RANDOMLY TURNS OFF AND DISPLAYS "SERVICE POWER STEERING SYSTEM". IT DECIDED TO SHUT OFF POWER STEERING MIDWAY THROUGH A RIGHT HAND TURN CAUSING ME TO DRIVE OVER THE SIDEWALK AND ALMOST INTO A PARKED CAR IN THE PARKING LOT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SIDEWALK. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS, I DONT FEEL SAFE LETTING MY KIDS RIDE IN THIS CAR AT ALL, ESPECIALLY SINCE I NEVER KNOW WHEN MY POWER STEERING IS JUST GOING TO RANDOMLY STOP WORKING. I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE POSITIVE SAFETY RATINGS, HOWEVER, BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE, DODGE/CHRYSLER HAS LOST ALL OF MY BUSINESS. ESPECIALLY WHEN A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP IS $1280 WHICH IS MORE THAN A COMPLETE MOTOR FOR SOME CARS. THE LIVES OF MY CHILDREN ARE WORTH MORE TO ME THAN THEY SEEM TO BE TO DODGE. UNLESS DODGE CAN DO A RECALL ON THIS PART AND FIX IT, SINCE I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAS HAD THESE ISSUES, THIS CAR WILL BE GOING TO A SCRAP YARD, IM NOT WILLING TO SELL IT TO SOMEONE ELSE AND POSSIBLY HAVE THEIR LIVES ON MY CONSCIENCE. *TR CONSUMER TESTIMONY IS LONGER THAN 2000 CHARACTERS, PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENT.*JB

  20. Steering, Mar 14, 2019

DRIVING IN THE CITY OR HIGHWAY THE POWER STEERING WILL STOP WORKING AND BECOMES UNCONTROLLABLE/HARD TO GET TO THE EDGE OF THE ROAD. THIS CONDITION IS VERY UNSAFE AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE POWER STEERING WILL INTERMITTENTLY NOT WORK FIRST START IN THE MORNING AND TURNING CORNERS. CHECKED AND TOPPED OFF THE FLUID LEVEL. IT WORKED FINE FOR TWO OR THREE DAYS AND STARTS ACTING UP AGAIN.

  21. Steering, Suspension, Mar 13, 2019

2014 DODGE CHARGE POLICE CAR LOSES ALL POWER STEERING WHEN TURNED LEFT. WE HAVE 4 OF THESE MODELS AT OUR POLICE AGENCY AND ALL 4 ARE DOING THE SAME THING. AFTER SPEAKING WITH SEVERAL OTHER POLICE CHIEF'S, THEY ALL STATED THAT THE ELECTROSTATIC POWER STEERING PUMP WAS BAD AND IT WAS A MULTIPLE THOUSAND DOLLAR FIX FOR THEM. OUR LOCAL DODGE DEALER SAYS TO FIX EACH FLEET CAR, THE COST WILL BE OVER $2000 PER CAR. WITH THIS MANY ISSUES, THERE SHOULD BE AN INVESTIGATION AND A RECALL. FURTHER, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED LEFT, ALL POWER STEERING IS LOST.

  22. Steering, Sep 27, 2018

I WAS DRIVING HOME AND STOPPED TO ALLOW ANOTHER CAR TO TURN IN FRONT OF ME, I FLASHED MY LIGHTS ONCE TO ALERT THE OTHER DRIVE TO GO AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON AT A HIGH SPEED. I TRIED TO TURN THEM OFF AND THEY WOULD NOT STOP, I TURNED THE WIPER SWITCH BACKWARDS AND FORWARD AND THEY STILL WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME (IN BROAD SUNNY DAYLIGHT) WITH THE WIPERS GOING VERY FAST ON DRY GLASS! VERY ANNOYING AND UPSETTING - WITH NO WARNING. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME, I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND THE WIPERS WERE STILL GOING. I CONTACTED THE NEAREST DODGE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ASKED ME TO COME THERE. I HAD TO DRIVE TO THEM FROM MY HOME ABOUT 10 MILES TO DEALERSHIP WITH THE WIPERS STILL GOING ON DRY WINDSHIELD (VERY EMBARRASSING AND UPSETTING). ONCE I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP THE ONLY WAY THEY COULD GET THEM TO TURN OFF/STOP, WAS TO REMOVE THE FUSE FROM THE BOX THAT CONTROLS THE WIPERS. I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL OR SOME TYPE OF WARNING I SHOULD HAVE NOTICED PRIOR AND THERE WAS NOTHING! THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM. MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE NOT HAD ANY OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE WE BOUGHT IT 5 YEARS AGO. WE MAINTAIN SERVICING AND TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF OUR VEHICLES. I'M VERY DISTURBED THAT THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE OF. IS THERE ANYONE ELSE THAT HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM? NOW WE ARE BEING TOLD THAT IT'S THE STEERING COLUMN MODULE? AND ITS ABOUT $800 TO REPAIR! THAT'S RIDICULOUS!

  24. Steering, Feb 5, 2018

WHENEVER I AM DRIVING AND I TURN LEFT AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS SO HARD TO TURN IT SEEMS AS IF IT'S STUCK. I HAVE COME EXTREMELY CLOSE TO HITTING MEDIANS BECAUSE THE CAR JUST DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO TURN. IT ONLY HAPPENS WITH LEFT TURNS. THE RIGHT SEEMS TO BE OKAY. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CHILDREN KNOWING THAT THE CAR DOESN'T OPERATE PROPERLY. I CHECKED RECALLS BUT THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ONE. I HAVE CHECKED OTHER FORUMS AND SEVERAL 2013 CHARGER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE.

  25. Steering, Electrical system, Electronic stability control (ESC), Oct 24, 2017

ALTERNATOR RECALL. ENGINE INTERIORS LIGHTS FLASH WHILE OFF, CAR INTERMITTENTLY WILL GO OFF. POWER STEERING NOT AVAILABLE. CHRYSLER MECHANICS WOULD NOT LOOK INTO MY POWER STEERING ISSUES. TOLD ME MY ALTERNATOR IS FINE. I DO NOT FEEL MY ALTERNATOR IS FINE AND WANT IT REPLACED. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN.
