HEADLIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT. I HAVE REPLACED THEM FOUR TIMES IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ARE BURNING OUT TOO. I HAD TO REPLACE THE GLOVE BOX LIGHT, THE TEMPERATUE CONTROL, AIR CONDITIONING, RECIRCULATE, ODOMETER LIGHTS. NOW THE RPM LIGHT IS STARTING TO GO. IT IS GETTING VERY EXPENSIVE TO BE REPLACING ALL THESE LIGHTS. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE $8.99 EACH AND I PAID $230 TO REPLACE THE DASH LIGHTS. AFTER REPLACEING THE DASH LIGHTS, WHEN I USE THE REMOTE TO UNCLOCK MY CAR, ALL THE DASH LIGHTS BLINK THREE TIMES (THEY NEVER DID THAT BEFORE). I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN I TURN ON MY TURN SIGNAL I HEAR A HIGH PITCH NOISE. I AM WORRIED THAT MY HEADLIGHTS WILL GO OUT WHEN THE STORE IS CLOSED AND I CAN'T GET IT FIXED. I MAY GET A TICKET OR GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. I DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK IN THE DARK. ALSO WHAT IF BOTH HEADLIGHTS GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME, THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS. I WORRY THAT MY SPEDOMETER MAY GO I AND I WON'T KNOW HOW FAST I AM GOING. I HAVE TOLD THE DEALER THAT I THINK THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, BUT THEY INSIST THERE IS NOT. I DO NOT AGREE WITH THEM. *TR

WHY HAS THE 2005 NOT BEEN RECALLED FOR EXTERIOR LIGHTING. THE BULBS FREQUENTLY NEEDED REPLACED AND THEN THE WENT OUT FOR GOOD. WE CAN USE THE FOG LIGHTS AND THE HIGH BEAMS BUT NOT THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS. WE'VE CHANGED FUSES AND BULBS WITH NOT RESULT. PLEASE ADD THIS TO THE RECALL. *TR

THE HEADLIGHTS NO LONGER WORK. WE CAN USE THE FOG LIGHTS AND THE BRIGHTS BUT NOT THE HEADLIGHTS. WE'VE HAD THE BULBS AND THE FUSES CHANGED WITHOUT ANY RESULT. OTHER YEARS FOR THIS SAME MODEL HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT NOT THE 2005 AS OF YET. *TR

BOTH LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING AT THE SAME TIME. I WAS PARKED WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE FUSES ARE FINE. THIS IS THE SAME FAILURE FOR WHICH HONDA HAS ISSUED A RECALL, BUT LIMITED IT TO 2002-2004 CR-VS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THIS FAILURE ON REPAIR FORUMS FOR 2005 YEAR CR-VS, AND A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ALREADY IN THE NHSTB DATABASE AS WELL. THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO COVER THE YEAR 2005. *TR

THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR. AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE COMPRESSOR BEARINGS FAILING INTERNALLY AND CAUSING A HOLE IN THE CASING. THE ESTIMATE IS $1350.00 TO REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR, CONDENSER, EXPANSION VALVE AND FLUSH THE SYSTEM OF FRAGMENTS THAT MAY HAVE ENTERED THE SYSTEM. AFTER A PHONE CALL TO AMERICAN HONDA I AM TOLD THERE IS NO SAFETY RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AND MY VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE IT'S WARRANTY PERIOD. SINCE THE REPAIRS HAVE ALREADY BEEN STARTED, I AM UNABLE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. HONDA'S POSITION IS THEY DO NOT HAVE CONTRACTS WITH INDEPENDENT SERVICE PROVIDERS SO THEY ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST ME.THIS 2005 HONDA CRV HAS 90,000 MILES AND JOINS THE RANKS OF OTHER HONDAS WITH SIMILAR UNCOMPENSATED REPAIRS FOR AIR CONDITIONER FAILURE. *TR

ON START UP, AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON. BROWN HONDA OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, DIAGNOSED IT AS A BAD AIR BAG SRS UNIT (CODE 53-93), A BAD LEFT SIDE IMPACT SENSOR (1ST)-CODE 43-11, AND A PROBABLE LF HARNESS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AS YET. *TR

  24. Electrical system, Visibility, Aug 28, 2012, fire

THE DRIVER SIDE MASTER WINDOW SWITCH FAILED CAUSING THE PART TO GET VERY HOT, MELT, AND EMIT SMOKE FROM THE SWITCH. THIS COULD HAVE VERY EASILY STARTED A LARGE FIRE IN THE VEHICLE. ONCE THE SWITCH IS MELTED, IT SHORTS OUT THE CIRCUIT CAUSING THE FUSES TO POP AND THE WINDOW WILL NO LONGER OPERATE. I CONTACTED A HONDA DEALERSHIP AND DISCOVERED THE SAME PART # USED IN THE 2006 MODEL IS RECALLED FOR THIS VERY SAME REASON. I BELIEVE THIS AFFECTS MORE PARTS THAN ARE COVERED BY THE RECALL AS A QUICK LOOK ON THE WEB UNCOVERED SEVERAL MORE CASES FOR 2005 MODELS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ACTIVATED, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT SUDDENLY FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT BULB WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES. IN ADDITION, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT BULB WAS REPLACED TWO TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
