Steering, electric power assist systemSep 27, 2018
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Honda Civic and CR-V vehicles. The magnet that controls the torque sensor output signal for the electronic power steering system may not be properly secured, allowing the magnet to become dislodged. During a full lock turn, the dislodged magnet may cause steering assist to be applied in the opposite direction.
The unintended steering input reduces vehicle maneuverability and increases the risk of a crash.
Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gearbox assembly, free of charge. The recall began November 9, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are C2N, P2O.

While sitting with engine running all warning messages start to scroll through including warning dash lights. This occurs periodically may stop randomly a day or two later. No codes display when checked. Noticed multiple incidents of this have been reported with no specific solution. Individuals seem to have spent thousands trying to fix without a specific solution. Less than 95k miles always serviced at dealers. Extremely frustrating concerned that at some point this could result in a failure posing a personal/physical safety issue.

While driving my 2017 Honda CR-V in stop-and-go highway traffic during wet conditions at 7:40 am on 9/24/26, suddenly multiple warning lights appeared with audible chimes and I suddenly was unable to depress the brake pedal normally. When I attempted to apply the brake, it felt like it was solid and had no effect on the speed of the vehicle. I immediately activated my hazard lights, crossed 3 lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder, shifted into neutral and had to coast to a stop on the shoulder. Steering felt stiffer than normal as well. I didn’t even have time to absorb all the warnings that were occurring. After safely stopped, I saw that the vehicle displayed the following warnings, cycling through them (I have a 1:25 video of this): * • Lane Keeping Assist Problem * • Collision Mitigation Problem * • Road Departure Problem * • Blind Spot Information Problem * • Brake System Problem * • Electric Parking Brake Problem * • Tire Pressure Monitoring System Problem * • Transmission System Problem * • Brake System Problem * • Brake Hold System Problem * • Power Steering Problem * • Vehicle Stability Assist Problem * • Hill Start Assist Problem * • Adaptive Cruise Control Problem I placed the vehicle in park and then it was towed to a repair facility and then to a Honda dealer and is awaiting evaluation. I thankfully was only traveling between 25-35 mph at the time due to traffic, and there was enough buffer between me and other cars that there was no accident. However, at normal highway speeds, in the metro area I was in with little shoulder and high traffic, an accident would have been an almost certain outcome with severe injuries or death as a result. I had no issues with the vehicle prior to this and just did regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on 8/21/26 (oil change, tire rotation, transmission fluid replacement).
Other or unspecified, Engine, Sep 1, 2026
The manufacturer, American Honda, issued a 10-year extended warranty (TSB 19-091) for defective, leaking A/C condensers on the 2017 Honda CR-V. Authorized Honda dealerships (specifically Napleton Honda and Victory Honda) are systematically misdiagnosing consumer vehicles to evade this warranty. Dealership service departments are blaming vehicle system failures on peripheral components (such as "return lines" and "discharge lines") to charge consumers thousands of dollars out of pocket. In my case, I was charged $868.44 and $1,184.49 for these lines, yet independent UV dye testing proved the factory condenser was actively leaking fluid the entire time. The vehicle’s passenger cabin cannot be cooled, causing severe heat discomfort. American Honda corporate case managers are actively protecting these dealer practices by offering minor "goodwill checks" instead of requiring dealers to perform the safety and equipment remedies mandated by the corporate warranty extension. Honda must be investigated for warranty non-compliance and consumer deception regarding this known HVAC system defect.

My air bag light has come on. The vehicle has never been in an accident. There is no damage to the air bag. The shop stated it’s the passenger side curtain airbag The other issue is the a/c. There was a recall it got fixed but my a/c is still not working.

All dash warning indicators come on randomly and a code reader indicates fuel injector issue. That was checked and is not the issue. This is a well-known symptom in this model year that head gasket leaks caused by under-specified head bolts do not keep the cylinder head sealed properly and this leads to many other issues.

My vehicle was taken into Automaster Honda, the dealership where I purchased it, on June 11, 2026, for the yearly required VT safety inspection and other minor service. I was told that due to rust holes near the REAR TRAILING ARMS my vehicle would not pass a safety inspection. Publicly available information indicates that this condition can potentially cause a loss of control of the vehicle, and thus a crash, and presumably, potential loss of life!! There is no recall for this issue in this model year Honda, there is no fix, (even though there was a recall on 2007-2011 model year Hondas for the same issue) and my dealership is not able to recommend anyone who might be able to fix this problem. They can't fix it. According to the service manager at Automaster, Honda Canada has reportedly been issued a bulletin indicating that this 'problem' is neither a safety or structural issue but no such bulletin has been issued for Honda U.S. He advised me that my vehicle is safe to drive; however, I still cannot get an inspection sticker, without which I could receive a citation, and I am still troubled each time I get in this car. I don't think I could sell this car even if I wanted to because of this issue. The only entity who has inspected my vehicle is the dealership. There were no warning lights or messages and last year, supposedly conducting the same inspection, there was no indication of this problem or I was not informed of one at that time. I am going in July 16 for a necessary brake job, something also recommended on June 11 when I was advised of the trailing arm issue. I can't drive around with worn brakes. Photos attached are from June 11, taken with a technician's cell phone. When I go in on July 16, I will view the damage myself and take my own pictures. On June 11, the vehicle had already been taken off the lift and I could not see the damage myself that day. Thank you.

The air conditioning on my 2017 Honda CR-V repeatedly failed to blow cold air. On the most recent visit, the dealer found the A/C system had no pressure and the A/C discharge hose was leaking. I paid approximately $4,162 for a discharge hose replacement and system recharge, and the A/C still does not cool afterward. This matches the known A/C compressor shaft seal defect affecting 2017-2022 CR-V models, which Honda has acknowledged through a warranty extension (Service Bulletin 23-039) rather than a formal recall. The shaft seal can swell and leak refrigerant, leading to loss of cooling and downstream damage to A/C components such as the discharge hose. The problem was reproduced and confirmed by a Honda dealer, and the failed components are available for inspection. A/C concerns were logged by the dealer on multiple prior occasions (2022, 2025, and 2026), showing a recurring, unresolved failure. The vehicle has roughly 67,000 miles, well within normal service life. Warning symptom prior to failure: the A/C gradually stopped cooling and intermittently blew warm air over multiple seasons before failing completely. Safety note: A/C failure is primarily a comfort and reliability defect rather than a crash hazard, but loss of defrost/climate performance can affect visibility and driver comfort in extreme heat.

All warning lamps have been coming on at random times. The dealerships have always said there is no problem. Now, outside of warranty, I am reading that it's possible that the problem is that all of the fuel injectors need to be replaced. Online notes that this is a widespread issue with this particular vehicle. I was informed that I can disconnect the battery and it resets the system and warning lamps - sometimes for hours, sometimes for days/weeks.

2017 Honda CRV Touring with VIN [XXX] . My son and daughter drove the car and all of a sudden all the lights started going off( it looks like Christmas lights). We got it scanned multiple times from different places where they have the scanner. It was showing P0304 Misfire #4 cylinder and U0401-68 ecm failure. We took it to the dealer and they found out the same code fuel injector needs to be replaced. I am single mom and didn't have the money to get it fix. Our car only had less than 21k. I stayed up to do more research online. Found out more about this common issues with same model. I contacted another dealer, explained my situation and he advised me to call honda corp to be added to the recall and mention goodwill. I immediately called the corporate but had to wait for their case mgr to get back with us. I asked my daughter to call the dealer where we got our car diagnosed, to ask svc advisor if it is safe to use the car and we were advised that it's ok to use. However my daughter was driving the car and all of a sudden it wasn't accelerating and only going around 5 miles per hour. She had to go back home and missed her classes. She was scared and I could just imagine how scary that was.How about if this happened when she was in the freeway? This could have caused a major accident. I don't understand why Honda only issued the recall to some cars with same model as ours if they already have lots of customers having same issue. I even read this issue was featured on ABC news. Honda did offer to help with lowering the fuel injector but I still have to pay $899.19 and around $204 for diagnosis. The svc advisor said they've been having a lot of same model cars coming in for fuel injector problems. I am reaching out hoping you can help direct us in getting the full reimbursement and hoping our car can be added to the recall so we can get reimburse.Honda should be fully liable for this due to known issue. My 2017 Honda CRV VIN [XXX] AC compressor has completely seized/locked up. This has caused: (1) loss of engine power while driving with AC on, (2) burning smell from engine compartment, (3) loud grinding noise. A seized AC compressor risks snapping the serpentine belt while driving, which causes sudden loss of power steering — a direct safety hazard at highway speeds. This is a known Honda defect covered under TSB 23-040, yet the dealer denied warranty coverage claiming the compressor failure is unrelated to the shaft seal defect. The root cause was never addressed despite my car being serviced in May 19 2023 and they charged for discharge hose and freeon filling for 900$. The same day honda extended warranty of parts via TSB 23-040. I feel Honda dealership never found the root cause and beating around the bush. We lose money and health and safety is also getting intona concern. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Random problems since purchase with screen going out and emergency brake light either flashing for no reason and braking for no reason. In 2023 the brake system completely failed while driving. Honda dealer replaced fuel pump which helped for awhile. Now flashing brake warning for no reason is happening again. Fear the car will either start braking again for no reason or another system failure might occur. Afraid to drive the car.

Car has been having all of the dashboard lights come on. I search up this and there are so many same gen Honda CRV 2017-19 having the same issue happen repeatedly. I have came across atleast 50+ people online that keep having this issue come back. Also at times it will says engine is too hot and to park safely. This is 3rd time where my car is in idle and the car shuts off and says engine is too hot to which I then turn it off. When I proceed to try to start car after waiting it does not stay on. I went to 2 different Hondas and they stated battery, alternator, starter are good. This car is no good if everyone is having the same issues.

2017 Honda CR V- Hybrid (under 10 year under 150,000 miles) All warning lights on the dashboard—including the Check Engine Light, Oil Pressure Warning, Battery Warning Light, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Light, Brake System Warning, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) Light, Fuel Level Warning Light, and Engine Temperature Warning Light—activated intermittently. This issue intermittently occurred each time the vehicle was started, with symptoms lasting from a few days up to several weeks. The warning lights would temporarily resolve, with periods lasting from a few days to several months. The vehicle's battery was replaced twice within one year, which seemed to temporarily alleviate the issue; however, the warning lights recurred afterward. Recently, Honda was able to conduct a thorough diagnosis with the lights going off and seems to have identified the root cause, leading to the replacement of the spark plugs and fuel injectors at an approximate cost of 2,000. If unaddressed, this issue could pose safety risks such as rough idling, decreased fuel efficiency, engine misfires, difficulty starting, poor acceleration, unexpected stalling, sudden complete loss of power, and electrical problems. This issue is recognized by Honda and is currently covered under a recall for the 2023-2025 Honda Pilot and the 2023-2025 Honda Accord Hybrid. While the Honda Accord Hybrid and Honda CR-V Hybrid share the same fuel injection system as part of Honda’s two-motor hybrid-electric powertrain, the Honda CR-V Hybrid has not yet been included in this recall. Nonetheless, many Honda CR-V Hybrid owners are experiencing similar issues and are incurring repair costs out of pocket. Honda, please consider including our Honda CR-V Hybrid in your recall for your fuel injection system issue. Including all within the 10 yr 150k miles that are using this faulty fuel injection systems.

The headlights were on after I replaced the battery. Did a little bit of research and found that the body control module or (BCM) would be going out. Got a new one sent and tried replacing it and the part didn't end up working. Took it to a non honda dealer. Got it taken care of, but the new BCM wouldn't work. All warning lights came on and now I have to deal with the BCM going out again and not able to return the part back to Honda.

My car decelerated on the highway from a speed of approximately 65 mph to 9 mph in a matter of seconds without any reason. I drove in the breakdown lane with flashers on to get to the next exit and upon entering the off-ramp my CRV suddenly accelerated back to normal. I took my vehicle to my Honda dealership and they told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it. It was showing no codes. The write-up did not mention my description of the deceleration on the highway. It discussed only my thought that my alternator might be bad. This was 8/19/25. Since this check at the dealership my car has done this exact act two more times on the highway for no reason. I am terrified to drive my car on the highway because I fear for my safety.

On July 31, 2025, my 2017 Honda CR-V was diagnosed by a certified Honda dealership with complete air conditioning failure. The A/C compressor produced a loud knocking noise and was found to have leaked black debris (burned oil/metal), contaminating the entire system. I was informed the system required full replacement, totaling $4,500. The defect has disabled the ability to cool the vehicle cabin, which poses a risk to drivers with health conditions. It also affects window defogging and visibility, especially in humid, rainy conditions. This matches hundreds of similar complaints and class action lawsuits filed against Honda for known A/C system defects in 2016–2021 CR-V and Civic models. My car is outside the standard compressor warranty, and Honda refuses to provide assistance. This failure should be considered a safety hazard, particularly for individuals who require temperature control for medical reasons.

The electrical system periodically goes haywire - all warning lights come on and flash. It some cases, my car lost power and it was unsafe to drive. I was worried it would overheat. I have rebooted and sometimes it resets and sometimes it doesn't. it is extremely rough starting now. The electrical problem can start when i start the car and sometimes it happens while driving. with all warnings going, it concerns me that I would not know which alert might be real. The vehicle seems to short itself out. i have changed the battery more times than would be normal. It is draining the battery while sitting (no lights or other issues that would cause it). The electrical system flashing has been happening from the beginning but it is getting more frequent and doesn't reset. I have also taken it to a mechanic a d paid for various repairs and nothing helps.

Our 2017 Honda CRV EX Body Control Module has to be replaced due to the alarm system coming on and the car trying to start itself along with a parasitic drain. I have driven Honda's my entire life because they are suppose to be reliable and I guess this is no longer the case. Very disappointed with this vehicle.

ALL warning lights come on at once while driving. First occurrence happened during a snowy day. I immediately went to an independent facility to have the codes run as I was concerned with losing braking ability as it was one of the many lights saying there was an issue. The mechanic checked it for codes and listed all the faults I could see on the dash. Mechanic said most likely it was a battery problem, so the battery was tested and was fine. Safety at risk due to sudden cancellation of cruise control and not having emergency automatic braking. 2 independent repair shops have been able to reproduce the issue. One was able to clear the codes and have the issue be reproduced real-time connected to reader. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer or police insurance reps. The warning lamps are: all of them. Electrical, power steering, emerg. Braking, TPMS, LKAS, engine, etc. During the winter the lights stay on for weeks at a time. Spring and early summer significantly less. Summer time thus far has been higher than in the spring, but the time they are on is less (a day or two) Temperature is the only thing I noticed a real difference with. Cold was the worst. Not even having the vehicle warmed up would remove the lights. They turn on and off whenever they want.

American Honda extended the warranty for the A/C compressor shaft seal on the 2017 Honda CR-V to 10 years from the original purchase date, with no mileage limitation. This extended warranty covers the repair or replacement of the A/C compressor shaft seal if it leaks. This is due to a known corrosive material that they used in the system. My car failed this seal and they would replace this for free. However, the discharge hose on the same system also failed due to corrosion of the same material. The hose is not covered under the warranty and Honda will not fix the hose or even cover any percentage of the cost. Herb Chambers in Burlington won't do the AC comprssor shaft seal without the hose being replaced because the system will still leak. American Honda and Herb Chambers want me to pay $1400 for a repair to the discharge hose before they will perform the work on the compressor seal. If the corrosive material was the culprit for the shaft seal, then it is also the culprit on the discharge hose and I would like to make sure they are responsible for using this corrosive material and they should cover the whole repair. I would like to know my options.

It has not been looked at yet due to not having funds to get it looked at. I do know others have the same consistent issue with these models especially when they’d get around 70,000 miles. All of the warning lights the last few months would continue to cut on and off. Now they just stay on. The Car drives fine though but is a safety hazard since it can’t tell us if something is wrong.
