  3. Equipment, other, labelsJul 27, 2023

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017, 2020, and 2022 CR-V vehicles. The certification label on the driver's side door states incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), and tire size information. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

An incorrectly sized tire may cause premature tread wear, or a tire blow out, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will install a new corrected label, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 18, 2023. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is CF7.

  5. Steering, electric power assist systemSep 27, 2018

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Honda Civic and CR-V vehicles. The magnet that controls the torque sensor output signal for the electronic power steering system may not be properly secured, allowing the magnet to become dislodged. During a full lock turn, the dislodged magnet may cause steering assist to be applied in the opposite direction.

The unintended steering input reduces vehicle maneuverability and increases the risk of a crash.

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gearbox assembly, free of charge. The recall began November 9, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are C2N, P2O.

  6. Fuel system, gasoline, delivery, hoses, lines/piping, and fittingsJul 13, 2017

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017 Honda CR-V 2WD and AWD vehicles. The affected vehicles have a fuel supply pipe that may have been improperly manufactured, possibly resulting in the pipe disconnecting and leaking while driving.

If the pipe disconnects, the engine will stall, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, the disconnected pipe may leak fuel, which, in the presence of an ignition source, can increase the risk of a fire.

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel supply pipe, free of charge. The recall began August 31, 2017. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is KH1.

  7. Equipment, other, labelsApr 18, 2017

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017 CR-V and Acura RDX vehicles. The Certification Labels on the affected vehicles were printed with ink that may be inadvertently wiped away with an alcohol solvent. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

If the label information can be wiped away, the operator may not be able to refer to the information, possibly resulting in the vehicle being overloaded, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Honda and Acura will notify owners, and dealers will replace the Certification Label, free of charge. The recall began June 2017. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are KF3 (CR-V)and KF4 (RDX).

  1. Electrical system, Engine, Forward collision avoidance, Feb 9, 2024

The car has a warranty that was extended because of camshaft issues. The warranty expired 2023 I bought the car in 2023. The issue started happening in 2024. The car will just stop and not go no matter how much you press the gas. So driving anywhere at any speed the car will just all of a sudden stop. it’s extremely dangerous and obviously it’s a problem that Honda has already recognized

  2. Electrical system, Feb 7, 2024

Service Bulletin [XXX] dated [XXX] corrective actions (dual special software updates) where followed and the frequency of incidents dropped dramatically, but after multiple dealership visits (Hardin Honda of Anaheim, CA) the center stack touchscreen still blanks out randomly while driving. Yes, the full vehicle is available for inspection. The screen continues to also “freak out” as shown in the following videos where totally random commands are being made. The blackout happens more but this still occurs periodically too. Nothing seems to fully correct the root issue. I show the dealership the videos I’ve recorded showing the issue but does not occur by the time the technicians test drive it. When it first happened, because it was so dangerous losing many controls, I also opened a case with American Honda customer relations ( #[XXX]) with “Jose” who noted the details but there was no response or followup because I was two months over warranty despite low mileage and simply out of luck. He said ask the dealership for “good will assistance” and you should get the majority of it covered probably bring it down to around $300 a replacement center stack touchscreen rather than over $2,000. 3. Engine, Feb 6, 2024

the oil is mixed with gasoline causing the level the oil to hight or and do not lubricate well because is not oil pure in the engine and I went to de Honda dealer to change de oil and report the problem and they say that is normal but the oil was smelling mixed to gasoline and do not lubricate well motive I have to change the oil more frequently .

  4. Fuel/propulsion system, Feb 6, 2024

In September of 2022 all the warning lights went off and the associated systems shut down. Took vehicle to dealer and had codes checked. Code thrown was P0172 - system too rich. Though vehicle was under extended warranty at the time of this incident none of the potential TSB’s for this known issue were investigated. Was advised that it was potentially bad gas and to run it low, return to dealer and have lights reset, refill with better fuel and see if the code trips again. Now in January of 2024, after my extended warranty has expired, the same code has been thrown again, and I’ve been advised to try the same thing, though this adviser does not believe the gas is the issue. He speculates that the fuel injectors are the likely culprit. Once again, a very known issue to Honda, which costs about $1500 to $2000 to repair. As this is a known issue, Honda should be correcting it free of charge to the owners of these vehicles.

  5. Air bags, Feb 5, 2024, crash

Airbags did not deploy during car accident and are not available for inspection as car was totaled. My safety and the safety of other passengers were put at risk the driver was slammed forward since the car got rear ended and the driver's chest was slammed into the steering wheel; medical attention was required and injuries were sustainted. The other two passenger also required medical attention and sustained injuries one to their neck and the other to their head, chest, and back. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by the dealer or an independent service center as the car is totaled and signed over to insurance. The vehicle was inspected by police onsite shortly after the car accident and an insurance representative will pick up the vehicle tomorrow. Warning lamps/messages: unknown.

  6. Electrical system, Feb 5, 2024

While the car was moving, the LCD screen suddenly flickered uncontrollably. Although the LCD screen returns to normal after the car is restarted, it will flicker after driving for a period of time.

  7. Engine and engine cooling, Feb 5, 2024

The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that there was an abnormally strong gasoline odor inside the cabin of the vehicle after refueling. Additionally, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was initially taken to a dealer where a diagnostic test was performed; however, the mechanic could not determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic recommended a more extensive diagnostic test be performed by dissembling the engine. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where a coolant leak inside the engine was discovered. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000.

  8. Electrical system, Structure, Feb 3, 2024

Infotainment screen malfunction and safety issue. Also hood popped open twice while driving 65 mph causing damage.

  9. Air bags, Feb 1, 2024

Dash showed a problem with the Supplemental Restraint Issue. The car was taken to our local Honda dealer. After three days of diagnosis, trial and error and almost a $1500 charge the driver’s side Airbag was found to be the problem and replaced. This car had just over 31000 miles. It had been garaged since purchased and was never in an accident. Why should an Airbag such as above need to be replaced unless it was defective. Why aren’t error codes more specific? Makes you wonder what would have happened if ,heaven forbid ,there had been an accident. Would this safety feature have deployed. I know there have been recalls of many such safety devices in the past and I believe there may have been a problem with Honda Airbags previously. Perhaps an expansion of this issue is needed. I have contacted Honda with the complaint and they rejected any responsibility.

  10. Electrical system, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 30, 2024

While driving the car it began to spit and sputter and lost power to the point I had to pull out of traffic to the shoulder, stop, and turn hazard lights on. While there I turned the car off and restarted it. I began to enter back into traffic, got to about 10-15 mph and all of a sudden the car ran choppy and every light came on the dash displaying a problem with every function of the car. My husband works about a mile from where I was so I drove from where it happened to his workplace. From there the phone calls began to obtain a tow to the dealership. Diagnostic results said head gasket was leaking and coolant was fouling the spark plugs. Dealer quoted 5700 for repairs. (25 hours of labor). Around 86,000 miles (10 weeks ago) the same dealership replaced fuel injectors and spark plugs for 1700. Now the 2017 car is just under 90,000 miles.

  11. Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 30, 2024

My car had been rough on the steering wheel and eventually started to stall but still had a quarter of a tank of gas. It marked at a quarter of a tank but stalled in the middle of the freeway going 65+ mph and caused me to go from 65 to 0 in a matter of seconds. All my lights came on, on my dash and the car would not run. Went to get gas and car took a while to run again, this is the second time it happens and I didn’t even get a warning light for gas, there was that much still left in it. Apparently no recalls are associated with this VIN but this has happened twice in a month and it runs through gas very quickly.

  12. Engine, Jan 27, 2024

All warning lights in car came on. Subsequently had diagnostic testing done. Code P0172 System too Rich. Dealer says fuel injector's need replacement. My understanding is this is an issue on other Honda cars manufactured during the same time period as mine and a recall notice was issued for those models.

  13. Vehicle speed control, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 25, 2024

I own a 2017 Honda CRV EX AWD. While driving downhill on a mountain road on Dec. 9, 2023, all of my dashboard warning lights and alarms began flashing and sounding off. Some of the warnings cycled through one after another while others were simultaneous. I continued to drive looking for a safe place to pull over. Going downhill I was able to maintain some speed, but when the road leveled off I found I was unable to accelerate to more than 5-10 miles per hour despite the engine continuing to rev. After pulling over, I stopped the engine for 10 minutes. Upon restarting, the dashboard warnings repeated the same process. At first opportunity, I took the car to a Honda dealership where code DTC P0304 was diagnosed and I was advised that the problem was failure of my fuel injectors. Repairs were made at a cost of more than $2000. Fortunately, this failure did not happen to me on a crowded freeway going at higher speeds as it could have easily created a situation where property damage, injuries, or fatalities could have occurred.

  14. Power train, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 15, 2024

In August my 2017 Honda CRV started losing acceleration and felt like it was stalling. Every light on the dashboard came on. I brought it to herb chambers in Westborough and they fixed the turbo charger, the vehicle was still under warranty so I expected to get the issue fixed. In early December the newly 'fixed' honda CR-V started losing acceleration, similar to the previous time. I got the car to the dealership and they fixed the same issue again but charging around 3000$ because now the car wasn’t under warranty. On Saturday January 6th I started up the 2017 Honda CRV with the intentions of going to Herb Chambers in Westborough. (10-15 miles). The CRV again loses acceleration and check engine light comes on along with every other light in the book. Realizing I was not going to make it to Herb Chambers, I pulled into a lot to call for AAA (thankfully our 3 year daughter wasn't with me). AAA Tows the car to Herb Chambers. This time they said it was the spark plugs and Herb Chambers Honda charged close to ANOTHER $1,000 for the SAME issue that should have been fixed in August of 2023. Please see attached Honda documents for your reference. Three times in the span of 4-5 months where the car suddenly goes ‘limp’, on busy highways no mind you, I had to put my hazards on and pray no one hit me, it’s gotten to a point of where there is a known issue and these Honda service departments know this, but still ‘work on your car’, for outrageous sums.

  15. Forward collision avoidance, Jan 3, 2024

I was driving and my car just randomly slammed on the breaks going through an intersection. There were no cars ahead of me for my car to use the brake censor and there were no cars behind me so I was lucky and did not get rear ended. This happened for a split second then my car was normal again. It stopped so quick and the car made a noise at the same time. I was concerned on why it did that so I went down and turned around and drove that path again. It did not do it again the 2nd time and there was nothing in the road that should of made my car brake on it's own. Lucky I was not going so fast and not on the highway. I have reported it to Honda and there are no recalls on my VIN at this time per Honda.

  16. Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 1, 2024

Bad Fuel Injectors at 60,000 Miles Caused all dash lights to go on Car went into Limp mode

  17. Engine, Dec 26, 2023

The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

  18. Fuel/propulsion system, Dec 24, 2023

Car shut down while driving in middle of highway couldn’t even get it to shoulder. Everything stopped. Would not restart. Took to Honda Dealer. “Reset” fuel pump. Said we were out of gas but there was still 1/8 tank. No other diagnosis. Very unsafe.

  19. Fuel system, Gasoline, Dec 22, 2023

The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the steering wheel assist braking system and other warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel injector had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle would be taken to another dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

  20. Fuel/propulsion system, Dec 22, 2023

Fuel pump stopped working. Car had trouble starting, felt ‘jumpy’ while driving. Had to get the fuel pump replaced.

  21. Forward collision avoidance, Dec 22, 2023

The car just braked and stopped for no reason. Nothing in front of me. I could've been rear ended. Took it to the dealer the following day and they could not replicate the incident. They found nothing wrong with the brakes. Brake warning light came on when the car came to an unexpected and sudden stop.

  22. Seat belts, Other or unspecified, Dec 19, 2023

Driver’s Seatbelt will not click in place and my vin is not showing a recall. The control screen does not work correctly. It often goes bright and makes a dinging sound or won’t work at all.

  23. Steering, Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Dec 19, 2023

What I experienced was a multiple system failure. It began with a dead battery two years ago. When the engine was restarted the TPMS light came on along with the indicator light to get your car checked. The lights only came on intermittently at first and it didn't seem to affect the function of the car. I had assumed that when I replaced the battery, I had loosened a fuse. As time passed, the number of lights on the dashboard increased along with the duration of time they stayed lit up. Now, within the past 3 months, all the system indicator lights are on constantly, with the accompanying beeps, dings and sounds for each light. Yesterday, on the highway, my dashboard began to dim and the vehicle began to stutter. The dashboard indicator read Critical Failure Detected. Stop Driving When Safe. At the time I was on the highway in the right lane going 51 mph. This is unsafe. I have children and grandchildren and I do not feel safe transporting any of them. The reported problems are: Brake System, Tire Pressure Monitor, Electric Parking Brake, Road departure Mitigation System, Collision Mitigation System, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Assist, Anti-Lock Brake, Power Steering System

  24. Steering, Dec 18, 2023

When driving at highway speeds the steering would get stuck Causing higher than normal resistance to turn. Once the steering would respond it required quick over correction to prevent leaving the roadway.

  25. Other or unspecified, Dec 15, 2023

While driving when it's raining, the anti-theft alarm goes off, the open door alarm starts beeping, and the low tire warning shows. The instrument cluster sometimes goes completely black, and on one occasion the engine shut off completely. We took the car to a Honda dealer for service and they replaced the battery but that hasn't fixed the issue. Obviously, losing the instrument cluster and power at high speeds is dangerous. This issue has occurred at least six times over the past year.
