Steering, electric power assist systemSep 27, 2018
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Honda Civic and CR-V vehicles. The magnet that controls the torque sensor output signal for the electronic power steering system may not be properly secured, allowing the magnet to become dislodged. During a full lock turn, the dislodged magnet may cause steering assist to be applied in the opposite direction.
The unintended steering input reduces vehicle maneuverability and increases the risk of a crash.
Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gearbox assembly, free of charge. The recall began November 9, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are C2N, P2O.

Electrical system, Mar 21, 2024
The wiring harness that runs the electric lock on the back doors is faulty. I suspect it is because the wiring harness is too tight, and when the back doors are opened repeatedly it wears on the wires and eventually causes the wires to break. This means that the back door locks become manual locks. I think this is a mild safety issue because we have small children and it makes it difficult to get them in and out of the car. The problem was reported to the Honda dealership, and to an independent mechanic, both of whom reviewed the problem and confirmed it. The vehicle has not been inspected by Honda, the police, or insurance. There are no warning messages. The symptom is merely that the door lock ceases to function. This issue first appeared for us about five years after purchase of the vehicle (we purchased the vehicle new). We had the issue repairs once, and but it has happened again. When I google this issue, there are many forum posts with people experiencing the same issue (I would say it's a "known issue" for this vehicle).

Fuel pump module incorrect moulding. To date, no incident to report, however I phoned Mohawk Honda this afternoon who said that the owners who have been notified have relayed to Mohawk Honda that HONDA informed owners that parts will not be made available until this fall. I would like to ask if I can have the work done now and receive reimbursement. I would prefer to get this recall resolved as soon as possible. Thank you. I was driving with my wife and 2 children on the highway in our 2018 Honda CRV and the sunroof randomly shattered, raining glass on us in the car. Luckily nobody was injured, but we could have been cut or crashed. Dealer and Honda deny any issue. It was inspected by insurance reps and body repair shop. I opened claim for this through all state claim# [XXX]. There were no symptoms of the problem prior to the incident. It looks like others have had issues with Honda HRV and CRV: [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The car quit suddenly while picking up my child at school and would not start. Had to be towed to the honda dealership due it not running. No warning sign of it having any problems, nothing. This qas February 13th and has been sitting therr for over a month now. I have contacted the Honda service department twice and they can not give me an ETA on when my car will be fixed or when the fue pump will arrive and if that is the only thing wrong with my car. This is our main vehicle, I do have a courtesy car to drive but I am making car payments on a car that is not functioning.

My concern is that I have to wait 7 months or more for the part needed to be produced. Is this safe? Is this a "timely" response to my recall?
Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Lane departure, Mar 10, 2024
All electrical warnings spontaneously engaged on the panel; disabling cruise control and adaptive tools (emergency braking, lane warming, 3rd party vehicle encroachment, etc). The car drives fine. Has happened 6 times in the last 2 years. Either spontaneously resets when I turn the car off and then on, or I have to disengage the battery to reset everything.

I am currently shopping for a Honda CRV when I learned that the vehicle has an active recall that has yet to be addressed. When looking into it further and contacting the local Honda dealership, they notified me that they would be unable to handle my request for service (should I decide to purchase the vehicle) until sometime in the fall. It is currently March. Half a year is a long time to wait for repair to a vital system of the car I read so many positive things about. I called other Honda dealers in my area and received the same response for the issue. Am I crazy for thinking that half a year is a long time to wait for a fix to a problem that could immobilize my potential car every time I turn the ignition or even while I’m driving?

Unexpected braking while driving in city traffic. Brake pedal was untouched while driving at about 30 MPH...we were lucky no other vehicles were following!

Earlier, I had raised a complaint on my vehicle where Automatic Emergency Break applied though there were no obstacles or objects in front of my vehicle. On [XXX] around [XXX] at the same spot [XXX], Matthews, NC 28105] where my other incident was reported 2 years ago was repeated again and sudden break applied though there were no objects in front of my vehicle. Luckily the other vehicle is little far behind my car, otherwise we would have hit by the car and have happened. I am my family including my toddler were really shocked with this sudden stop and luckily nothing had not happened, except a mental stress. We couldn't imagine what could have happened. May be god saved us. This was reported at [XXX], Matthews, NC 28105. There was an iron bridge to pass on, on the way to Michael's from Costco. There are some iron poles on the sides of the bridge, the sensor might have detected the poles on the sides of the bridge as humans/objects crossing the bridge and suddenly the brakes might have applied without any warnings. Just an assumption as the incident happened at the same spot and same time. With this another incident, I still doubt the security measures or the sensing features that were calculated for applying the AEB. I hope Honda will read this and come up with a better solution for owner's like us. Thank you! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While driving the entire driving assist system warnings started flashing (lane assist, blind spot, ACC, etc.) resulting in a solid system break light, with none of the safety features functioning. In addition to being very distracting while driving, had I not noticed the warning lights going off , I would not have known that the safety system was off. It is very easy to miss while focusing on driving in a rainy day like today. I am writing to you directly since the last time I emailed Honda about a confirmed SW bug that results in the screen going dark, they told me it is not a safety issue and requested $180 for a SW update. When your screen goes dark when you are driving after changing the brightness on its own, and you don't see the backing off warnings, or camera, I would say it is a safety issue. While I am not writing about this specific issue, I don't trust Honda to do an honest assessment. I am unaware if Honda researched this issue yet, but have seen reports online about this issue.

It is terrifying and unacceptable that they announce a fuel pump recall and then tell drivers to wait basically a year to they maybe get the part. Ticking time bomb. This is an addendum to some folks who already had a near catastrophe or worse because this company was negligent. Is anyone filing any lawsuits yet? Please reference NHTSA recall # 23V-858. In the Remedy section of the NHTSA recall description it states, 'The dealer will replace the fuel pump module with an improved part.' The actual recall notice states 'The replacement parts needed to repair your vehicle are not currently available but are expected to be available in the fall of 2024'! Honda lists this as an IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL and failure of the pump may result in a crash or injury. I'll have to drive my CR-V for the next, at least, 6 months facing this possibility. This is unacceptable and I'm hoping you can help resolve this. Regards, [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Forward collision avoidance, Mar 1, 2024
First incident: I was stopped at an intersection and when I proceeded to cross the intersection the automatic brake engaged. There was no one in front of me and the car behind me nearly crashed into my rear. The weather was clear and sunny. The second incident occurred two days ago. I was driving on my street and the brake engaged. It was raining. I contacted the dealer today (Sussman Honda at 1543 Easton Rd, Abington, PA 19001) and was told that this is "normal for ALL automatic braking systems" and not to worry.
