  5. Structure, frame and membersDec 5, 2019

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019-2020 CR-V vehicles. The rear subframe bolts were improperly manufactured and may loosen, allowing the rear subframe to separate.

A separated rear subframe reduces vehicle handling and can suddenly disable the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear subframe bolts and retorque them or replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began January 27, 2020. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is R6M.

  6. Equipment, other, owners/service/other manualSep 26, 2019

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 CR-V vehicles. The owner's guide incorrectly describes when the "Passenger Airbag Off" indicator should illuminate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

If the front passenger does not correctly understand how the airbag functions, they may be at an increased risk of personal injury in the event of a crash.

Honda will notify owners and provide a sticker with the correct information to be added to the owner's guide, free of charge. The recall began November 14, 2019. Owner's may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is X6G.

  8. Air bags, frontal, driver clockspring/spiral cassetteMay 21, 2019

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 CR-V vehicles. The metal core of the steering wheel may have burrs which can damage the harnesses routed within, potentially disabling the driver's air bag or causing it to deploy without warning.

In the event of a crash, a disabled air bag would increase the risk of injury. An uncommanded deployment of the driver's air bag also increases the risk of injury and a crash.

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover on the steering wheel core and replace clockspring and the harnesses within, free of charge. The recall began July 8, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is R4S.

  1. Other or unspecified, Oct 15, 2022

The display audio screen dims and brightens by itself and starts changing screens, channels, and beeping obsessively. This is very distractive to the driver and pushing buttons on the screen to try and make it stop does nothing and could very easily cause a wreck from the distraction of the unit beeping, changing channels, randomly calling people and flipping screens. Honda acknowledges this issue in Service Bulletin 19-066 which I don't think owners should have to pay to have fixed and should be a recall.

  2. Forward collision avoidance, Oct 14, 2022

My vehicle activates the automatic braking system when there is no car or other object in front of me. This has happened several times since I have owned the car. The most recent times it malfunctioned were (1) when I was approaching a train track and (2) when I was approaching a large metal plate on the road covering up a hole in the road. It gives no warning and slams on the brakes. This is very dangerous as I am afraid of being rear-ended. I consulted my service representative at the Wolfchase Honda dealership and was told that "the system is functioning as intended". I do not believe that. There is clearly something wrong with the sensor. He claimed that the sensor was just very sensitive and there was no way to adjust it. A different representative at the same dealership claimed to have never heard of this happening. I also do not believe that. This needs to be the subject of a recall.

  3. Tires, Oct 13, 2022

driving on the freeway home from work, in the middle lane, heard a loud bang then thudding and pulled over and my tire was almost flat with big hole in the sidewall blew out. after replacing with spare tire, saw 2 other smaller holes / slits where the sidewall blew out. called bridgestone manufactuer and they said this make model had a recall but not size did not have a recall or defect reported and there were not any replacement offerings.

  4. Other or unspecified, Oct 8, 2022

Sunroof shattered while driving on highway. Nothing hit it. It just shattered

  5. Forward collision avoidance, Oct 5, 2022

inadvertant activation of emergency braking system at highway speed

  6. Forward collision avoidance, Oct 4, 2022

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the Forward Collision Avoidance system inadvertently activated and abruptly stopped vehicle due to a metal plate being on the roadway. The dealer was contacted but offered no assistance, insisting that the failure was a factory defect failure. The contact sated that the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted or notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,000.

  7. Electrical system, Forward collision avoidance, Sep 29, 2022

Unexplained auto braking. 1st incident Summer 2021. Was approaching intersection with a stop sign with no vehicles behind or in front of my CRV. There was 2 construction metal poles on each side of the intersection. As I approached the cars brake warning light on dash flashed. I tapped brakes to slow down released the brakes and the light returned and car suddenly braked hard before I got to stop sign. Was only going about 15 mph but braking was hard enough to throw me forward in the seat and was caught by the seatbelt. There was nothing in front of the vehicle. Happened again 2 days ago Sept. 2022. Driving on highway at daytime no vehicles in front or rear of my CRV. Brake light started flashing to hit brakes. I applied brakes, but there was nothing in front of me. Because I continued braking the auto brake did not engage this time. Talked to local Hinda dealer was told they have not heard of any issues. If it happened again they recommended getting car inspected. Also have had intermittent issues with radio display suddenly starting to dim and change brightness on its own going from black to bright repeatedly with audible beeping. Was driving car everytime this happened. Happened multiple times over last 2 yrs. Only way to stop it is to stop vehicle, turn it off and then restart it.

  8. Forward collision avoidance, Sep 18, 2022

I was going through an intersection. There were no cars, people, animals, or other objects immediately in front of me. Suddenly, the automatic braking system warning light came on, the alarm sounded, and the car braked out of nowhere. There was a car following closely behind me, but thankfully it did not hit me. After the car braked on its own, I was able to keep going, and made it home a minute later. We have had the automatic braking work properly in the past, but this is the first time it has braked when there hasn’t been any reason to. It was terrifying to have it happen, and I’m thankful that it happened at low speeds and didn’t cause a collision.

  9. Engine, Sep 17, 2022

BASICALLY WHEN ITS COLD OUTSIDE 30F OR LESS THE CAR IS VERY SLOW TO HEAT UP. IT WILL NOT HEAT IF IDLING YOU HAVE TO DRIVE 4 TO 5MILES ,IN THE MEAN TIME THE WINDSCREEN WILL NOT CLEAR . IF ITS ICY OR SNOWING VERY LITTLE HEAT TO CLEAR WINDSCREEN . THEN WHEN YOU PARK AND LET THE CAR IDLE FOR A WHILE IT LOSES WHAT HEAT HAS BEEN GENERATED. GOD FORBID YOU WERE CAUGHT IN A SNOW STORM THE 1.5 LITRE TURBO EARTH DREAMS ENGINE WILL NOT GENERATE ENOUGH HEAT TO KEEP YOU ALIVE AT IDLE . THE REMOTE START THAT COMES AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT IS A JOKE.I EVEN TRIED PUTTING THE KEYFOB IN THE CAR START IT FOR AN HOUR, NO HEAT GENERATED UNLESS YOU DRIVE THE CAR FOR AT LEAST 4 OR 5 MILES.

  10. Forward collision avoidance, Sep 15, 2022

My brake mitigation system keeps lighting up intermittently when there is nothing in front of my vehicle. This past time that it happened, my car actually stopped suddenly automatically when the brake light came on. I was traveling at about 35mph when it happened. Luckily nobody was behind me. My small dog was in the passenger seat and was thrown into the dash board and thankfully not injured. I called my Honda dealer and they had me bring my car in but the problem wouldn’t duplicate during their inspection. This seems very dangerous and it makes me nervous all the time while driving now wondering if it will happen again.

  11. Structure, Sep 12, 2022

The contact owns 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while she was driving 75 MPH, she heard a noise coming from under the front passenger’s side of the vehicle. As she continued to drive, she heard a metal plate hitting the freeway and dragging. The contact stated she was able to pull over into the emergency lane and was able to get help with securing the skid plates with a wire. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who informed her that the skid plates were damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that while she was driving 65 MPH, she heard the sound of the metal plate hitting the roadway underneath the front passenger’s side of the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the skid plates needed to be removed and that the clamps were loosened. Additionally, there was damage to the flash guard. The contact stated that the vehicle was not repaired due to the parts not being available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 27,500.

  12. Other or unspecified, Sep 12, 2022

My sunroof exploded as I was driving down the highway yesterday evening. It was sunny, and I was not driving under an overpass, and there were no vehicles near me. I did not see an object hit nor was there anything on the roof or in the hole. Just lots of shattered glass.

  13. Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 7, 2022

The fuel pump failed on my car. I am very lucky and fortunate that I had my car parked in my driveway. I had driven my car a couple times the day it happened and my car started and then immediately shut off, after that, the car would turn over but wouldn't turn on and the battery and oil lights were flashing. I did not need an oil change, I still had 70% life. I called AAA to come because I thought it was my battery, the technician told me that my battery was at 100% and he'd never seen a Honda do this before. I had my car towed to Honda where they found it to be the fuel pump. My car has a little less than 65,000 miles on it and is only 3.5 years old. My car had been running well up until this point. When I asked more and more questions about this, they said that I was getting power to my pump but it wasn't coming on. I was told that it wasn't going to ground. Again, I am lucky that I was in my driveway but they had told me that once my car got to the dealership, they had turned it on and it started up, but then it died. Luckily I wasn't on the road anywhere. I know there is an active recall for Honda CR-V fuel pumps but it doesn't cover what happened to my car which is ridiculous. In all the years I've been driving, I have never had an issue with a fuel pump before, nor should I ever. This is not part of a recall and it should be.

  14. Forward collision avoidance, Sep 6, 2022

My automatic braking system deployed unexpectedly while my foot was on the accelerator. I was driving my mother and accelerating to the posted speed of 50 mph with no car in front of me. Suddenly the "BRAKE" warning light came on the dashboard, as though I was coming too close to something, and the car started braking. My mother and I were suddenly leaning sharply forward and I was afraid the car on our tail would hit us. I had to turn into a driveway quickly. I have not taken the car to a dealer or service center yet. No one has inspected the vehicle.

  15. Forward collision avoidance, Sep 5, 2022

Earlier today my brake warning light suddenly came on and my 2019 CRV suddenly slowed down. No cars were nearby on the street. I was driving just under the 40 MPH speed limit. This could have been a problem if a vehicle was behind me. A few hours later on the freeway my brake light suddenly came on again. I was driving just under the 65 MPH speed limit. No cars were nearby on the freeway. This time the car didn’t slow down.

  16. Other or unspecified, Sep 4, 2022

I was opening the hatch to my CRV, and it just slammed shut. The hatch strut started leaking fluid, and it almost slam down on my head which would’ve been a pretty serious injury had it hit me. My vehicles only three years old and I don’t even use my hatch that often so I believe that it is gone bad

  17. Air bags, Aug 30, 2022

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his wife was seated in the passenger’s side front seat, the air bag sensor intermittently failed to recognize her in the seat causing the air bag off warning light to be illuminated. The contact notified the dealer of the failure and the dealer informed him that unless they could duplicate the failure, they could not diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

  18. Structure, Aug 29, 2022

Driver's side sun visor. This is a known issue to Honda. The original sun visor became rigid and very difficult to adjust. Honda replaced the original sun visor under warranty. The replacement has also become rigid and is very difficult to adjust. Now, the visor will not fold back into place and drops down, blocking my field of vision. I have the item available for inspection. Autonation Honda of Lewisville, Texas has confirmed this issue three times. Honda says this is a known issue and will not take further action to correct this, and since this is a common problem, there are no new sun visors available for sale, and they are currently on back order, for an unknown period of time.

  19. Forward collision avoidance, Aug 27, 2022

On Thursday, 8/25/2022, I was at a red light and when it turned green the vehicle ahead of me proceeded, I began moving when suddenly the automatic emergency braking system activated for no reason as the car ahead of me at that point was at least 4-5 car lengths and there was no oncoming traffic. Aside from startling me, the car behind me almost rearended me. The brakes activated, my foot was not on the brake pedal, and the warning light flashed on the dash along with the warning beeps. At that point I put my foot on the brake and the deactivated. I reported this issue to the dealer and they had me bring the car in and determined that it was caused by a low voltage in the battery, the car it 3 years old and only has 13,979 miles on it. The dealer replaced the battery but I wonder if I will experience this issue again in the future. I have to wonder why a battery would go soon, the car was purchased new, and why a low battery would cause an issue like this that could cause an accident. If this happened on the highway it could have resulted in a serious accident.

  20. Air bags, Aug 25, 2022, crash

My wife was on her way to work and she hit a deer. The damage estimate is approximately 5000.00 to the right front end. With that much damage the air bags should have deployed but failed to do so

  21. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Aug 24, 2022

For the 4th time in a year and a half, my CR-V has failed to start. I've had it in for dealership servicing twice on this issue and even replaced the battery at their recommendation. It did not fix the problem and they have since told me that they can't identify the problem and said it could be with the computer system (I did purchase an additional warranty for the computer system). In addition to the car failing to start and needing a jump start, the dashboard will start beeping and go blank, or flash a warning message that does not fit the situation. I consider this situation to be a safety issue as it leaves me without a reliable car for travel due to the uncertainty of being able to start the car. The latest episode was today and it was 88 degrees out and I had my 91 yr old father and my dog with me. Waiting for assistance in the heat was very hard on them. My father felt sick due to the long exposure to heat.

  22. Electrical system, Forward collision avoidance, Aug 24, 2022

    1) The following has occurred 5 separate times on 5 separate days: I was driving on a 2-lane road on 4 occasions going anywhere from 25mph to 35mph, and on a 5-lane freeway on 1 occasion going 65mph. My brakes suddenly engaged and my car came to a full stop. The "BRAKE" notification flashed on my dashboard continuously for 30 seconds to 60 seconds. I was unable to steer car for another 1-2 minutes after. Each time it felt like a slam and my body was physically moved in whiplash mode. All items in my car flew around. Each time this occurred there was not another vehicle, object or person in front of me nor beside me. However there were cars behind me. On 3 of those instances, the cars behind me swerved. On all 5 instances I was shaken to my core. I did not want to drive for a day or two after. I have been terrified ever since. I could have been killed each of those times. My son could have been killed or severely injured on 2 of those occasions he was in the passenger's seat. The other drivers who had to swerve violently to get around my car could have also been killed or severely injured. Each of those times the dashboard has lit up every single icon. I have been told I have to pay to have this problem checked out. I do not have the means for this. I purchased my vehicle brand new off the lot. This is unacceptable and honestly terrifying, both for the risk of death and injury, and financially. 2)Electric Parking Brake Problem- my car refuses to start after this event.

  23. Forward collision avoidance, Aug 23, 2022

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) engaged and the vehicle decelerated inadvertently. However, there were no other vehicles or objects around. The brake assist warning light was illuminated. The contact stated the failure had been reoccurring increasingly and it seemed like the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) was pulling the vehicle to the left each time it engaged. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

  24. Forward collision avoidance, Aug 22, 2022

Driving 45MPH on a two lane road, no oncoming traffic, no obstructions, one car 1/4 mile behind mine. Suddenly, I heard three beeps and lost control of the vehicle. The brake mitigation system activated bringing the car to a dangerous stop in traffic. This was sudden, random and without any warning.

  25. Forward collision avoidance, Aug 22, 2022

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving approximately 22 MPH, the vehicle stalled abruptly. The contact stated that the brakes locked up. The contact stated she had traveled over a metal plate on the road several times previously. The contact waited for 4 to 5 seconds before the vehicle would move. The Forward Collision Assist Mitigation warning light was illuminated. There was a loud abnormal grinding noise detected. The contact called the local dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Action Number: PE22003 (Forward Collision Avoidance). The failure mileage was 57,370.
