  7. Fuel system, gasoline, storage, tank assemblyAug 1, 2019

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 CR-V vehicles. The joint weld between the fuel tank and the vapor return line may have been insufficiently welded, causing the weld to fail.

The failed weld may allow fuel to leak, increasing the risk of a fire in the presence of an ignition source.

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel tank, free of charge. The recall began September 16, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is A5I.

  8. Air bags, frontal, driver clockspring/spiral cassetteMay 21, 2019

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 CR-V vehicles. The metal core of the steering wheel may have burrs which can damage the harnesses routed within, potentially disabling the driver's air bag or causing it to deploy without warning.

In the event of a crash, a disabled air bag would increase the risk of injury. An uncommanded deployment of the driver's air bag also increases the risk of injury and a crash.

Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover on the steering wheel core and replace clockspring and the harnesses within, free of charge. The recall began July 8, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is R4S.

  1. Steering, Jun 29, 2025

On 6/19/2025 while driving on both residential and highway I noticed extremely sloppy/sticky steering wheel and did not feel safe while driving. The temperature was in the high 80's. I had not noticed anything like this before. Today is 6/29/2025 and I have been to the dealership I bought my CRV vehicle from 3 times relating to the steering for substantial visits on 6/20, 6/24 and 6/26. They were not able to replicate at the dealership what I experienced and we have had substantially cooler temperatures, such as 25 degrees. I believe no being able to replicate what I experienced could be caused by the much lower temperatures. I am frustrated since after the first visit to the dealership for service on 6/20/2025 by searching online I have learned there have been numerous years before and after my CRV was manufactured with steering related issues. This includes 2018 (18V66300 recall for electric power assist system) and 2019 (19V383000). The 2019 steering wheel recall was for vehicles that began manufacture 10-03-2018 and had manufacturing ending 4/02/2019. My vehicle was manufactured January 2019 and from what I understand it was not included in the recall. There was also recently a recall announced Nov. 2024 related to gearbox worm wheel and this included CRV model years 2023-2025. Additional information is that my CRV has low mileage. As of 6/20/2025 the mileage was 46,636. My concerns is that there has been a pattern over many years with similar issues as I expressed June 2025 regarding my CRV. This has involved many Honda auto makes including CRV.

  2. Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 27, 2025

I took my car to Diamond Valley Honda in Hemet to do a recall service for the fuel pump. When I got home, I noticed there was a fuel leak underneath the car coming from under the fuel tank. I have videos of the fuel leak. This is very dangerous to drive. I am lucky that I got home safely. I called Diamond Valley Honda and informed them about the issue. They refused to do anything. What can I do?

  3. Lane departure, Forward collision avoidance, Jun 26, 2025

I’m writing to report a recurring and increasingly dangerous issue with the CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) in my vehicle. The problem began shortly after I purchased the car. The system would intermittently flash the word “BRAKE” and apply the brakes without any apparent reason. Initially, this was more of an annoyance, but it has since escalated into a serious safety concern. Most recently, while driving through an intersection with no vehicles in front or behind me, the system suddenly applied the brakes with significant force. This caused everything in the front seat to be thrown to the floor and forced me into the steering wheel. The weather was clear—no rain or sun glare—and there were no visible obstructions. Had there been a vehicle behind me, I believe a rear-end collision would have been likely due to the abrupt deceleration. I have brought the car to the dealership where I purchased it multiple times, but they were unable to replicate the issue and eventually asked me to stop bringing the vehicle in. I then tried a different dealership, but they also refused to investigate further since they couldn’t duplicate the problem. Even after disabling the CMBS system about a year after purchase, the issue has persisted. I’ve since learned that this issue is under investigation, and I want to formally express that I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle. I am requesting a resolution to this matter as soon as possible. Please let me know the next steps or if any additional information is needed. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  4. Steering, Jun 25, 2025

While driving especially at highway speeds the steering sticks and requires excessive force to adjust causing oversteering and erratic driving. At low speeds the steering is heard to make loud clicking noise and continues to be stiff. The Honda repair service manager- simply stated there is a recall on the newer models- but not on the 2019. No warning lights. The failure has been ongoing since 2020, getting progressively worse. The vehicle has not been damaged in an accident.

  5. Steering, Jun 23, 2025

Steering seems "sticky" causing to over correct when turning in the highway and at low speeds. Ticking/clicking noise when turning the wheel. It is consistent every drive.

  6. Steering, Jun 18, 2025

The steering wheel "sticks" when steering, particularly when veering or turning right. My local Honda service department identified the issue as a defective steering gearbox, with a repair cost of $5,115.44. I contacted Honda and was told that my specific VIN is not part of the recall associated with steering issues. Honda refused to add my VIN to the recall and initially refused to cover my repairs. I called again and received a "good will" offer of $3,000 towards repairs. I pointed out that since the issue is a manufacturing defect and other CRVs have been recalled for the same reason, Honda should pay for the entire repair cost. Again they refused and gave me 30 days to think about their offer. I wrote a letter addressed to Mr. Ozawa, director of traffic safety, urging him to take responsibility for the known defect. Honda refused to increase their good will offer. I requested the offer in writing but was refused. I accepted the offer and scheduled the repairs. In the end Honda didn’t honor its good will offer and only paid $2,210 towards repairs. My only solace is knowing that all my calls were recorded (unless they lied about this too) and there's a record of the offer.

  7. Steering, Jun 10, 2025

Reporting this early. Left a message with the dealership today. Steering is clicking and pulling to the right. I do not see a recall yet for 2019 yet but do see for other years of CRV.

  8. Forward collision avoidance, Jun 8, 2025

Automatic Emergency Braking System suddenly activated without any objects or vehicles in front of me. I was going 40 mph. The system beeped and the car decelerated with no braking by me.

  9. Steering, Jun 7, 2025

found steering sticking as there was resistance.

  10. Steering, Jun 5, 2025

My 2019 Honda CRV steering system is malfunctioning, As I am driving straight the steering wheel wants to turn in either direction without me turning the steering wheel or having any intention of turning at all.I am driving straight, the problem happens at all times at all speeds, I don't feel safe driving my vehicle, I feel it may cause an accident, my vehicle was taken to a local Honda dealer, Honda Cars of Mckinney in Mckinney Tx, vehicle was inspected, they were able to duplicate my concern at parking lot speeds as stated on the dealer's diagnostics report, diagnostics report attached, dealer refused to fix it because they said there's no open recalls for my vehicle, However there's a recall for the same vehicle all trim levels model years 2017 and 2018 but they said even though it's the same problem it doesn't apply to my vehicle because it's 2019 model, the issue started about six weeks ago and it seems to be getting worse, I also contacted Honda headquarter who also refused to fix my vehicle.

  11. Fuel/propulsion system, May 30, 2025

When I went to turn on my car, on May 15, 2025, all my warning lights started flashing. It stated multiple system failures and my car started sputtering a bit. I attempted to drive it that way because I really needed to get to work. I was able to get to work but was driving very slow because I had my son with me. When school let out I started my car and all the system failure lights started flashing again. The car started sputtering and shaking again. When I went to leave my school’s parking lot I pressed on the gas pedal and my car barely moved. This happened on a busy street causing the cars behind me to brake quickly since I had no power to get out of their way. I thought I was going to get rear ended with my son in the backseat. I was able to get back into my school’s parking lot and shut off the car. I had to have the car towed to my nearest Honda dealer where it sat overnight since it was towed there right before closing. They diagnosed the vehicle as having a failed fuel injector spill gas into my oil tank and cause a complete mess in my engine. Spark plugs got burnt out as well. Turns out this is a recurring issue with 2019 Honda CRVs. This failure cost me a lot of money that has caused me financial difficulties. This problem needs to be addressed and all 2019 CRVs should be included in this recall. I’m so scared to drive my car but can’t afford to get another car. I should also get reimbursed for the cost of having the fuel injectors replaced. I’m terrified that I’ll get into an accident next time and that my son could possibly get hurt or die. Please help.

  12. Fuel system, Gasoline, May 29, 2025

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact had scheduled an appointment with the dealer but was informed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

  13. Engine and engine cooling, May 28, 2025

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, several unknown warning lights illuminated, causing the cruise control mode and the lane mitigation system to become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was fuel intrusion in the engine oil. The dealer determined that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under an unknown extended warranty coverage because the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

  14. Fuel system, Gasoline, Engine, May 28, 2025

The contact's father owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that after his father struck a deer, the check engine warning light and several other warning lights became illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for service. The contact stated that after several repairs were made to the vehicle, the check engine warning light returned soon after the repair. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where a diagnostic test was performed which showed a fault with the fuel injectors. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

  15. Steering, May 27, 2025

The steering in my 2019 Honda CRV started sticking when turning, almost like it was clicking into notches. There were no warning messages that anything was wrong. Brought the car to the dealer who determined the power steering rack needed to be replaced at the cost of $4579. Not doing so was a safety issue as the steering could lock up. I'm the original owner of the vehicle which has less than 30,000 miles, lives in a garage, has been well maintained by Honda's service department, and isn't driven in harsh conditions, so was shocked to hear this and questioned a defect in the part. Local dealer contacted Honda Corporate on my behalf and I was offered a 80% discount for the repair out of good will as a longstanding customer. I had the work done to avoid driving an unsafe vehicle. Based on recalls with steering racks in newer models, I am questioning whether the recall should not extend to earlier models. I do not have any of the replaced parts.

  16. Fuel system, Gasoline, May 27, 2025

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that immediately after the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); the vehicle was difficult to start. The contact stated that on several occasions while starting the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start immediately, with several messages displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that eventually the vehicle failed to start and was towed to the local dealer; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 29,448.

  17. Fuel/propulsion system, May 25, 2025

The fuel injectors are failing at 55 to 62k miles. The car experiences a loss of steering wheel functioning components related to the driver assist, and multiple warning lights appear on the dash for a period of a few days, then they suddenly disappear. There are slight hesitations in the automobile's acceleration, and this puts my family at risk during operation. The fuel pumps in the 2019 were replaced under recall but they failed to include the fuel rail and injectors and the pump we believe may have more pressure than the rail as and injectors were designed to handle and this shortens the life cycle of the part. The dealership diagnosed this problem and acknowledges that these same components have failed on other models and have settled lawsuits by extending the warranty periods to fix the injectors on certain less popular and lower sales volume models, but did not include the 2019 CRV and we think it is because that is a more popular model that would result in much more outgoing expense. his is putting many families at risk including my [XXX] daughter and her new born son. The dealership sells the injector and fuel rail parts that need to be fixed as a kit now due to previous and existing recalls in other Honda models but Honda consumer affairs has declined any warranty assistance to repair the 2019 CRV. 18. Fuel system, Gasoline, May 22, 2025

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle went into Limp mode. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the contact was informed that the high-pressure fuel pump and an unknown part needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to a second dealer, Larry H. Miller Toyota Peoria (8633 W Bell Rd, Peoria, AZ 85382), who determined that only the low-pressure fuel pump required replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 141,000.

  19. Steering, May 21, 2025

Needs Steering Gear Box replaced. Vehicle has 88,800 miles RACK ASSY., POWER STEERING (EPS)(SERVICE) (STEERING GEARBOX) Steering majorly affected. Confirmed by the dealer and currently at a dealer for repair Called Honda Customer service and they suggested that I put in the notice as there is a recall on the same part for CRV's but not my VIN number No warning lamps or messages, steering just became difficult

  20. Steering, May 20, 2025

My Steering has been very sticky on oy 2019 CRV. It makes creaking noises when I even slightly touch the wheel. They told me today I need a new rack and pinion. I only have 76,000 miles on this vehicle. There was a recall early on that had to do with steering and I feel like this is related. They're acting like it's not. I just don't think I should have to spend $5,800 on a car that I should be able to drive a very long time! 76,000 miles is nothing on a honda!

  21. Steering, May 13, 2025

My Honda CRV 2019 has about 70K miles on it. About a month ago, I started noticing the steering wheel becoming sticky. I would start to turn the wheel very slight and nothing would happen. Then it would catch up but i feel I have turned the wheel too much and now have to over-correct for it. This has a become a problem on highway driving as I feel I am all over my lane. I have seen the recalls for similar issues but this model is currently not under recall for this issue.

  22. Fuel system, Gasoline, May 13, 2025

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while waiting in line to enter the ferry, the vehicle was running with the gear shifter in park(P), and several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel system had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was pending repair. The contact stated that in February 2025, the notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) was received, and the recall repair was performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

  23. Power train, May 13, 2025

Vehicle began making noise when driving. Took to Honda and they discovered a bad bearing in the transmission. Car is regularly serviced and at 78K miles. Car needs a new transmission.

  24. Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, May 11, 2025

2019 Honda CRV brake system problem. Cannot start my car.

  25. Fuel/propulsion system, May 10, 2025

A fuel injector issue disables KEY safety features of our CR-V's when it occurs. (ex. Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, TPS, Hill Start Assist, Braking, etc...) Check Engine light comes on. All warning lights are turned on randomly (Electronic brake system, TPMS, Hill Climb assist, etc) remain on for some time (a few minutes, hours, days), and then all of these warnings vanishes after some time and driving a few miles (this also varies, sometimes warning stays for multiple days. I don't know if the car is dangerous to drive or not with EVERYTHING flashing and beeping.
