Back over prevention, sensing system, cameraJul 1, 2026
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Odyssey vehicles. Water may enter into the rearview camera, which can cause the rearview camera image to fail to display when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 24, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is HOX. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 20V438. Multipurpose camera failed. All safety features that comes with the vehicle is disabled.
Lane departure, Back over prevention, Forward collision avoidance, Jun 5, 2026
Since November 2025, multiple safety warning lights have illuminated upon starting the vehicle, indicating malfunctions within the Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping Assist systems. Two separate dealerships, Reseda Honda and Woodland Hills Honda, conducted independent diagnostic tests. Both service centers confirmed the root cause is an internal failure of the front multipurpose camera. Consequently, the vehicle has lost critical active safety features, leaving the occupants unprotected and significantly compromising the vehicle's safety on the road.
Forward collision avoidance, Lane departure, Jun 2, 2026
My 2018 Honda Odyssey with just under 59,000 miles is showing the following warnings: - ACC - Adaptive Cruise Control Problem - Collision Mitigation System Problem - Auto High-Beam Problem - Road Departure Mitigation System Problem - Lane Keep Assist Problem. Using a code scanner, the ECU reports error U3000-49, which seems related to the Multi-Purpose Camera Unit used for all these functions. Given that this camera is used in the various safety features listed above, the current condition presents an unsafe condition for my vehicle, which has less than 59,000 miles of being driven.
Forward collision avoidance, May 28, 2026
Vans forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking occurred when no vehicle was in-front of the van.
Forward collision avoidance, Lane departure, May 28, 2026
The vehicle started to have failing sensors all of a sudden. I tried a new battery but the codes returned. all ADAS systems tied to the camera module all went out. I had 5-7 warning lights for all driving functions. additionally the seat belt buckle is not always clicking in properly. the belt about half the time is not retained in the buckle section.
Forward collision avoidance, Lane departure, May 7, 2026
While driving on highway, multiple warnings displayed at the same time as adaptive cruise control stopped, lane keep assistance stopped and collision mitigation system stopped abruptly without warning. Independent service check confirmed the problem. No inspection performed. Vehicle has never been in a collision during ownership.
Forward collision avoidance, Lane departure, May 1, 2026
The camera for these sensors has gone out and it appears to be an extremely common issue. It makes all safety features un-usable.
Forward collision avoidance, Lane departure, Apr 30, 2026
When I turned on the ignition to drive the vehicle, multiple warning lights came on to include failure of lane keeping assistance, forward collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. Additionally, after acknowledging these lights, the "brake system" light remained on in the amber color. If these safety features are not working properly, it can put the occupants of my vehicle as well as others at risk.
Electrical system, Engine, Forward collision avoidance, Apr 28, 2026
When accelerating from a stop position while pushing on the accelerator the vehicle will not move. Takes a couple seconds. Almost struck by oncoming car when attempting to turn left onto Main road. Happens frequently. Next: left sliding passenger door doesn’t close all the way then opens back up. Takes several attempts before it decides to close or with my assistance. Third: rear cargo door shuts without me pushing the button. Alarm sounds and immediately shuts. Been hit in the head once while closing. I’ve seen complaints about this and Honda is apparently aware. Last; the car will inadvertently emergency brake when an oncoming vehicle approaches from the front. Very disturbing when traveling at any speed going into an instant stoppage.

Vehicle speed control, Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Apr 24, 2026
My car has started breaking randomly without reason. Just a few days ago it slammed on the brakes. I was driving on the interstate and went around a bend, and my car slammed on the breaks. I. Talking from 70- 5mph in seconds. I didn't have time to do anything. Nothing in front of me, nothing on the side. The car behind me had to swerve into the median to avoid hitting me. My car almost caused an accident. Im honestly afraid to drive it. Im not sure if the radar system is an issue in other Hondas, but if i was in an accident it would have been my fault. If the person behind me wasn't paying attention my children could have been seriously injured or worse. Please look into this issue. Its more dangerous than the other recalls.

Air bags, Forward collision avoidance, Apr 21, 2026
On April 20, 2026, at approximately 12:00 pm. I was driving my 2018 Honda Odyssey (VIN [XXX] ) southbound on [XXX] , approximately 3 miles north of the junction of [XXX] and [XXX] . I was traveling at approximately 30 mph. The vehicle struck a pothole in the road. Immediately upon impact, the passenger-side curtain airbag deployed with a loud report that I described as sounding like a gunshot next to my right ear. There was no collision with another vehicle or object, and no warning of any kind preceded the deployment. I was startled by the sudden deployment and noise, and the vehicle briefly swerved before I regained control. The deployed passenger-side curtain airbag completely obstructed my visibility through the passenger-side and right-rear windows. The road at that location runs along a narrow embankment with no shoulder, so I was unable to safely pull over. I had to continue driving approximately 3 to 4 miles with severely compromised visibility until I reached a safe location to park near the 9W and 340 junction. I was the sole occupant at the time of the incident. The curtain airbag deployed directly adjacent to my child’s car seat, which was installed in the rear passenger-side seat. My child was not in the vehicle at the time. Given the force and location of the deployment, a child seated in that position could have been seriously injured. Following the deployment, I experienced ringing in my right ear and ear pain that persisted for several hours. I was also significantly shaken by the incident. Component that failed: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU), which caused inadvertent deployment of the passenger-side curtain airbag. The vehicle and deployed airbag are available for inspection. Safety risk: The inadvertent deployment created multiple safety hazards. First, the deployment itself startled me and caused the vehicle to swerve at 30 mph on INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Paid $210 for Honda to run a diagnostic to tell me my multi purpose camera has a failure. This has caused 11 error lights to be displayed.
Electrical system, Forward collision avoidance, Lane departure, Apr 11, 2026
In May 2025, the front-facing windshield-mounted monocular multi-purpose camera unit abruptly failed in our 2018 Honda Odyssey Elite. The vehicle had ~53,000 miles on the odometer at the time. This resulted in essentially all of the warning lights showing/cycling on the dashboard display and total failure of the safety features dependent on this camera system (adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance, etc). The unit had to be completely replaced and calibrated by my local Honda dealer.
Steering, Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Apr 4, 2026
While driving on a clear road, with or without heavy traffic, the collision mitigation warning shows up on the dashboard display. Sometimes the warning for the collision system goes off and the system tries to brake and jerk the wheel. If I have the wheel firmly I can correct it and it resolves. It can happen on a clear road with no one around or in heavy traffic. Yesterday it happened in a single lane with barriers on both sides, a road around Logan Airport in Boston, with no vehicles ahead of me. The car tried to steer me into the barrier. I was doing less than 25 MPH. The warning had been going off for a while but now that the steering and braking are involved it’s much more serious. I reported it to the dealer. They said they did a system check and couldn’t find a fault. The braking and steering problem first occurred about a month ago. The warning by itself has been happening intermittently for over a year. This happens even when the collision mitigation system is turned OFF. This is a terribly unsafe issue. If my wife had been driving I don’t know if she could have corrected. PLEASE ACT AND ISSUE A RECALL!
Forward collision avoidance, Mar 26, 2026
our honda odyssey 2018 elite - has a failed windshield monocular camera - original part (36160 - THR - A73) failure is a u3000-49 error. This failure causes most of the advanced safety features of the vehicle to not be operational. see these dashboard errors: Collision Mitigation System Problem Road Departure Mitigation System Problem Auto High Beam Problem Adaptive Cruise Control Problem Current repair cost from a dealership can exceed $2000. I've researched many forums and this seems to be a very common problem among Honda Odysseys of similar year range. I fee like Honda should issue a recall and replacement for owners since this involves many of the saftey features of the vehicle and cost is very prohibitive to fix for many of us.
Forward collision avoidance, Mar 10, 2026
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. While driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a loud sound coming from the vehicle with unknown warning lights flashing on the instrument panel. The vehicle was drivable during the failure. On another occasion, the brake warning light flashed on the instrument panel, and the brakes slightly depressed independently, and the driver then fully depressed the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a monocular camera failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.
Electrical system, Lane departure, Forward collision avoidance, Mar 8, 2026
Upon further investigation, LOTS of 2018 Honda Odysseys are experiencing the same problem I am. There is a leak coming in from the top of the van in the rear that causes water to leak through and overtime damages the control unit in the back. Damage to this causes my power lift gate to completely stop working, my passenger drive door to stop working, and a bunch of features like the front collision warning, the lane departure, sensors, fog lights, so on to fail and go on and off. I had problems here and there with it but it wasn’t until it rained 4 days straight that I made the connection with the leak and started trying to figure out the problem. I took it to the Honda Dealership to get diagnosed and they confirmed this problem. We have not been in any accidents to cause body damage to the vehicle.
Forward collision avoidance, Mar 5, 2026
Intermittent electrical failure with the front monocular camera confirmed via DTC codes. Upon inspection, Camera is hot to the touch and all ADAS systems on the vehicle cut on/off with warning lights while driving. Was going down interstate utilizing ACC, system cut off throwing warning codes, then disappeared, then came back on. System continues to have intermittent issues indicating a failing camera. Even after 1-2 minutes of idle - camera is extremely hot when touching module underneath decorative garnish.
Forward collision avoidance, Lane departure, Mar 4, 2026
The Camera module failed in our van and gave us a U3000-49 code which caused the vehicle to lose Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) functions on the vehicle with a cost to fix from Honda of $ 2,475.56.
Vehicle speed control, Forward collision avoidance, Feb 24, 2026
Issue Description: My 2018 Honda Odyssey (VIN: [XXX] ) has a total failure of the Multipurpose Camera, permanently disabling the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS). In addition to these, the regular Cruise Control is also disabled. These are primary safety systems, not elective conveniences. Persistent Failure: Errors occur immediately upon every startup. Mid-Drive Danger: Systems have deactivated multiple times while in motion, causing sudden, unpredictable loss of driver-assist features at highway speeds. Total Loss of Control: Both Adaptive and Standard Cruise Control are completely disabled, forcing manual-only operation. Infrastructure Failure: The failure prevents the vehicle from recognizing lane markings (RDM/LKAS), leaving the car unable to assist in steering corrections. Safety Risk: The vehicle can no longer perform emergency braking or provide collision alerts, significantly increasing the risk of high-speed crashes. This is a premature failure of a non-wear safety electronic at 91k miles. It is a severe safety defect that leaves the vehicle unequipped with the crash-prevention technology it was designed to have. Manufacturer Response: American Honda (Case #16167889) and NCDS (Case #XXX) denied assistance, citing the expired 3yr/36k warranty. I contend this is an extension of the known electrical architecture defects in this model year (e.g., Recall 23V-431), and a component intended for the life of the vehicle should not fail such that it disables multiple safety systems simultaneously. Forward collision avoidance, Feb 17, 2026
The multipurpose camera that works to provide all the safety features failed In less than 8 years. These should be lasting for the life of the vehicle. There should be a recall for this.
