Despite having the DCT software recall repaired, today the parking brake disengaged after the car was idling for a few minutes at my son’s school. It lurched forward, startling me, and then I was alerted that the emergency parking brake deployed. The rollaway could have injured a child in the parking lot. No alerts or lights have been on prior. Additionally, after the rollaway incident, I was stopped at a red light, and my brakes depressed halfway. The last few weeks the acceleration from stop is difficult, and the brakes shudder and partially depress, especially when driving over a bump - feeling every minor flaw in the road rattling beneath my foot on the pedal. To also be mentioned - I have retained an attorney to pursue a Magnusson Moss cash & keep settlement on the car. From June - August 2026 the car was out of service, 4 repair orders, 2 dealerships, and a FSE I demanded finally found & diagnosed faulty O-rings causing the freon to leak and the AC to fail. The car also smelled strongly of fuel one full day, and the dash & steering wheel felt hot to the touch - but no defect was found or diagnosed.
Power train, Service brakes, May 29, 2026
My 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe (VIN: [XXX] ) was manufactured on March 14, 2024, in [XXX] . The vehicle is currently experiencing dual-clutch transmission (8DCT) juddering, shuddering, and extreme hesitation when trying to accelerate from a complete stop at traffic lights and intersections. This creates a severe lag in acceleration, leaving the vehicle dangerously exposed to oncoming traffic. This component failure directly mirrors the mechanical hazards outlined in NHTSA Safety Recall 263. Because my manufacturing date falls just outside the official recall window, this vehicle has not received a formal recall remedy, yet it actively exhibits the identical, dangerous powertrain defects, suggesting the recall's production scope may be too narrow. Furthermore, in November 2024, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic safety failure where it completely lost all propulsion power for approximately 30 seconds while moving through the middle of a live intersection. Most recently, on XXX, right after being released from an extended 38-day service stay at an authorized dealership, the electronic infotainment displayed an active warning screen stating the car should be shifted to park while the vehicle shifter was physically and securely locked in Park. Time-stamped video evidence of this active transmission/braking sensor failure has been captured and preserved. The vehicle remains an active, uncorrected threat to my physical safety on the road. When the car is off and in park and you go to turn on the car on by pressing the brake and power button button, the electrical system doesn't register and wont turn the ignition on and the brake gets stuck and you cant start the car. The same thing happens when the cars auto ignition is turned off at a red light then you press the gas to go but it doesnt show the gear is in drive and the ignition turns off and wont turn back on. The major safety concern is when this happens at a red light or in traffic and my car stalls and I am at risk of getting rear ended. I have taken the car to the dealership twice now for the same issue. The first time they claimed it was fixed but it wasnt and now it is at the dealership again for the same issue and I have not received any remedy yet. There is no warning to this issue it happens out of know where and is extremely dangerous. The issue has been going on for several months.

Vehicle will not brake assist in the front even though all of the settings are selected it to work and assist in the event of needing to brake suddenly.
Steering, Electrical system, Service brakes, Feb 7, 2026
-I had just exited from the highway and was driving into my town. While doing so, I had both hands on the steering wheel and suddenly the car started beeping and flashing warnings/ alerts indicating that my hands were not on the steering wheel, which they were. Within seconds the car began to deaccelerate and pull me off the road to my right hand side. I initially had no control over the vehicle. Then again- without explanation it began to register hands on the steering wheel and I was able to resume control of the vehicle. I believe the lane assist feature was on at the time. It all happened very quickly. Had I still been on the highway as I was moments before, there was enough traffic that I would have been pulled into another vehicle or caused an accident if people saw me suddenly rapidly deaccelerating/braking in front of them because they would have no warning and a very tiny amount of time to react. Then, in an other instance that followed shortly thereafter, my boyfriend was driving with one of the lane assist on. While driving, the weather changed and it began snowing and freezing rain that was freezing when it hit the windshield. The lane assist began to have trouble seeing the lines on the road since the snow and ice were obscuring them somewhat. It began to beep and gently correct the car- which was not appropriate in this case (we understand that the road conditions were beyond its abilities to safely discern things accurately). My boyfriend who had two hands on the wheel trying to carefully navigate this sudden burst of weather so at not to slide. He tried turning it off, but it wasn't turning off, and couldn't troubleshoot it without taking his hands off the wheel. He instructed me to turn it off through the settings menu in the infotainment system, which seemed to disable it. Prior to these dangerous problems, I had experienced some seemingly sensor- related malfunctions with the tire pressure monitoring system. I'm out of room to write more.

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while pulling into an automatic car wash and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal travelled down to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle then drove into the car wash while the car wash conveyor system was not engaged. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving 2-3 MPH in a parking lot, and the vehicle rear-ended another occupied vehicle. There was no damage or injury sustained. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving 5 MPH and pulling out of a parking lot, the brake pedal was depressed, but travelled down to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to respond. The contact pumped the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond and rear-ended another occupied vehicle. The contact sustained cuts on the left leg from hitting the leg against the dashboard while pumping the brake pedal. The contact's vehicle sustained scratches on the front end, and the other vehicle sustained damage on the bumper plastic cover. A police report was filed. Both vehicles could be driven away from the scene. The air bags did not deploy. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing on several occasions; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The vehicle was purchased brand new and at near 8k miles the brakes became warped. It caused severe shaking on the highway and has continued to get worse. Hyundai confirmed the brakes were bad but refused to replace the rotors. Rotors on a new car should not be warped at 8k miles, cheap materials lead to that
Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Aug 11, 2025, crash
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): [XXX] Make: Hyundai Model: Santa Fe Year: 2024 Description of the issue: •Component or system that failed: The vehicle’s brake system, including the emergency braking system, failed to slow or stop the vehicle at low speeds. The problem is available for inspection upon request. •Safety risk: This failure endangered my safety and others. While driving slowly in traffic, I fully pressed the brake pedal, and the emergency braking system activated, but the vehicle did not slow or stop, causing a minor collision with another vehicle. •Reproduction or confirmation: Prior to the incident, on two separate occasions, I noticed the brake pedal felt loose or like it “released” at low speeds, forcing me to press harder for the vehicle to slow. These issues were not previously inspected or documented. I was planning to have the brake issue inspected along with a current recall and other concerns, including a stiff seatbelt buckle and a door that was difficult to open, as soon as I had the chance. I have not received any formal recall notice by mail or email. I learned about the recall during routine maintenance at the dealership. •Inspections: The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer but I plan to take it to an authorized Hyundai dealership asap for inspection. The accident has not been reported to the police or insurance yet but it will be first thing tomorrow. •Warning lamps or symptoms: No warning lights appeared, but there unusual brake behavior was noted on two occasions about two weeks before the crash. Thought this time was significantly worse, and by worse this I mean the vehicle didn’t brake. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Service brakes, Mar 21, 2025
Since buying this vehicle I have had problems with shaking while braking… specifically while going at a higher speed downhills. At 3000 miles I took it in and they shaved down my rotors and stated it would need to be replaced if it didn’t fix it. The problem continued, when I would bring it to the dealership they would deny being able to replicate the problem. Upon searching on Reddit I saw that others are having problems with their rotors on their Santa Fe prematurely needing replacement. This has been a problem since I bought the car and I feel like it’s a significant safety problem that Hyundai will not cover under warranty.
Other or unspecified, Service brakes, Jan 29, 2025
I purchased a brand new 2024 santa fe xrt back in March of 2024. And around December my front end started shaking and I had bad vibrations in my front in when I was finally able to get it into the hyundai dealership in January they told me it was my front 2 rotors where warped my vehicle only has 13k miles and shouldn't have rotor issuses. Even though it was covered under warranty all the dealership did was resurface the rotors and said the vibration is gone. They also said if it does it again just to bring it back but a new vehicle shouldn't have warped rotor issues with less than 15k miles.

When placed in "Park" the vehicle's brakes did not engage, which allowed the vehicle to roll backwards when I exited the vehicle. I was able to reproduce the problem again and I recorded a video showing the problem. When pressing "Park" on the electronic shifter, the dashboard displays that the video is in "Park". However, the brakes are not engaged as evidenced by the vehicle rolling backwards when I take my foot off the brake. After reproducing the issue a couple times (~ 10 minutes later) and documenting the issue with a video, the check engine light eventually came on and the dashboard displayed: "PARK malfunction. Engage parking brake when parking vehicle." Which quickly changed to the warning message: "Shifter system malfunction! Service immediately" The vehicle would no longer let me place it in "park" and it remained on in "accessory mode" and I was unable to turn off "accessory mode" since the vehicle could not be placed in park. However, neither of these error messages appeared the 3-4 times I was able to place the vehicle in "park" and then observe it roll back. The vehicle has been towed to Northwest Hyundai for inspection/repair. >> How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The car rolling uncontrolled is a huge safety hazard to anyone that happens to be in the path of the car. It is also a huge safety hazard to any occupants that might remain in the vehicle when the driver exits after placing it in park. >> Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not yet. The service error that appeared prevented the car from being placed in "park". However, I was able to capture a video of the problem. >> Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, there were no error messages of any kind.
