Recalls and investigations

  1. EngineDec 28, 2018

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Sonata and 2013-2014 Santa Fe Sport vehicles previously repaired under recall numbers 15V-568 and 17V-226. The high pressure fuel pipe that connects to the fuel pump outlet may have been damaged, misaligned, or improperly torqued during the engine replacement procedure, allowing fuel to leak from the pipe.

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pipe, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 1, 2019. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's recall number for this recall is 180.

  2. Seat belts, pretensionerFeb 27, 2018

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2013 Sonata and 2011-2012 Sonata Hybrid vehicles. On February 27, 2018, Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) notified NHTSA that they were recalling 154,753 model year 2011 Sonata vehicles. On April 18, 2018, Hyundai expanded the recall to include an additional 425,305 model year 2012-2013 Sonata and 2011-2012 Sonata Hybrid vehicles. In the event of a crash, the air bag control unit (ACU) may short circuit, preventing the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags from deploying.

If the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags are disabled, there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of a vehicle crash that necessitates deployment of these safety systems.

Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will install an external wire filter kit, free of charge. The recall began October 15, 2018. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 174.

  3. Seat belts, pretensionerOct 4, 2017

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Sonata and 2011-2015 Sonata Hybrid vehicles previously repaired under recall campaign 17V-152. The seat belt linkages for both front seat belts may detach from the seat belt anchor pretensioners.

If the seat belt linkage detaches from the seat belt anchorage, it can not properly restrain the occupant in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will again verify the connection between the seat belt linkage and the pretensioner and additionally install a warning label to prevent future seat belt linkage detachment, free of charge. The recall began November 6, 2017. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 169.

  4. Seat belts, front, anchorageMar 8, 2017

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Sonata and 2011-2015 Sonata Hybrid vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the seat belt linkages for both front seat belts may detach from the seat belt anchor pretensioners.

In the event of a crash, if the seat belts detach from the anchor pretensioners, it can increase the risk of injury.

Hyundai will notify owners and dealers will inspect the connection between the seat belt linkages and the seat belt anchor pretensioners, repairing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 7, 2017. Owner's may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for the recall is 160.

  5. Exterior lighting, brake lights, switchNov 16, 2015

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model 2011-2012 Sonata vehicles. The brake pedal stopper pad can deteriorate allowing the brake light switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released.

If the brake light switch plunger does not retract as it should when the brake pedal is not being pressed, the brake lights may stay illuminated preventing accurate communication to rearward following vehicles that the vehicle is slowing or stopping. Additionally, if the brake switch plunger is not retracted, then the transmission can be shifted out of PARK without depressing the brake pedal. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.

Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake pedal stopper pad with an improved part, free of charge. The recall began on January 6, 2016. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059. Hyundai's number for this recall is 136.

  6. EngineSep 10, 2015

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Sonata vehicles manufactured December 11, 2009, to April 12, 2012 at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama and equipped with either a 2.0 liter or 2.4 liter Gasoline Direct injection engine. In the affected vehicles, metallic debris may not have been fully removed during manufacturing of the engine crankshaft. If the debris was not completely removed, oil flow may be restricted through the connecting rod bearings, causing connecting rod damage. A worn connecting rod bearing will produce a metallic, cyclic knocking noise from the engine and possible engine failure.

Engine failure would result in a vehicle stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace the engine assembly, as necessary, free of charge. Additionally, Hyundai Motor America will increase the warranty for the engine sub-assembly (short block) to 10 years/120,000 miles for both original and subsequent owners of 2011 and 2012 Sonatas manufactured at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama equipped with 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter Gasoline Direct injection engines. Interim notifications were mailed to owners starting on October 8, 2015. A second notification will be mailed when parts are available. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059 or by visiting www.HyundaiUSA.com/Campaign132. Hyundai's number for this recall is 132.

  7. Power train, automatic transmissionJul 18, 2014

Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 Sonata vehicles manufactured December 11, 2009, through May 29, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the transmission shift cable may detach from from the shift lever pin.

If the transmission shift cable detaches, the transmission gear selection may not match the indicated gear and the vehicle may move in an unintended or unexpected direction, increasing the risk of a crash. Furthermore, when the driver parks the vehicle, despite selecting the 'PARK' position, the transmission may not be in 'PARK.' If the vehicle is not in the 'PARK' position and the parking brake is not applied, there is a risk the vehicle will roll away as the driver and other occupants exit the vehicle or anytime thereafter. A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.

Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, repair the connection between the shift cable and shift lever, free of charge. The recall began in September 2014. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 123.

  8. Air bags, side/windowJul 24, 2012

Hyundai is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Hyundai Sonata passenger cars, manufactured from January 24, 2012, through June 21, 2012. The curtain side airbags on these vehicles may inflate without deployment command due to an error during manufacturing.

The curtain airbag may inflate without deployment command and increase the risk of injury to occupants of the vehicle. Additionally, an unexpected deployment would be a significant driver distraction and would limit the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Hyundai dealers will notify owners, and dealers will replace the curtain side airbags free of charge. This recall began on August 31, 2012. Owners may contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151.

MY CAR IS CURRENTLY AT A SHOP BEING LOOKED AT. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BECAUSE I WAS DRIVING IT AND IT STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND AND DIED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAVE CONSTANT LIGHTING ISSUES WHERE I HAVE TO REPLACE HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS EVERY MONTH TO 2 MONTHS. LIGHTS ARE VERY DIM ALL THE TIME. IT HAS A CLICKING SOUND THAT NEVER GOES AWAY. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THIS CAR. I OWE 2 MORE YEARS ON THIS CAR AND I'M AFRAID IT'S NOT GOING TO MAKE IT. I HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION TO WORK NOW AND I MAY BE AT RISK OF LOSING BOTH JOBS I HAVE. I'M SO DISGUSTED IN MY CHOICE OF VEHICLES RIGHT NOW.

  4. Other or unspecified, Apr 19, 2017

I WAS DRIVING FROM GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA AND WAS ON 95 NORTH IN PETERSBURG, VA AND I HEARD A LOUD BOOM (LIKE A GUN BLAST). I PULLED OVER TO THE NEAREST REST AREA ONLY TO FIND A BIG WHOLE IN MY SUNROOF. NOW THE DEALER IS STATING THAT IT WON'T BE COVERED BY THEM.

  5. Other or unspecified, Apr 11, 2017

I HAVE A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. LOVE THE CAR. ON A BEAUTIFUL CLEAR DAY, TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 55 DEGREES. HOWEVER, ON MARCH 19 AS I WAS DRIVING I EXPERIENCED A LOUD SHOTGUN TYPE EXPLOSIVE NOISE WHILE DRIVING. I ACTUALLY THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD SHOT AT THE CAR OR SOMETHING. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR. WE WERE ALL TERRIFIED. I ACTUALLY CALLED THE POLICE. AS I WAS WAITING FOR THE POLICE, PIECES OF GLASS BEGIN TO FALL ON THE SUNROOF VISOR. THANK GOODNESS IT WAS NOT OPEN. I REALIZED THAT IT WAS THE SUNROOF THAT HAD BEEN COMPROMISED. THEN I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE SOMEONE HAD THROWN A BRICK OR SOMETHING. ONCE THE POLICE ARRIVED, THEY INFORMED ME THAT NOTHING HAD EXTERNALLY CAUSED THIS ISSUE. THE SUNROOF EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE OUT. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE AND THAT THERE WERE CLAIMS AGAINST HYUNDAI. SO NATURALLY I CONTACTED MY HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP INQUIRING ABOUT IF THERE WAS A RECALL. OF COURSE, THEY SAID THERE WAS NOT. I HAD TO FILE A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE FOR REPAIRS. I CANNOT IMAGINE IF I HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHAY WITH THE KIDS. I COULD HAVE WRECKED AND COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. THIS ISSUE REALLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

THE ESC LIGHT CAME ON 3/14/17 AND REMAIN ON FROM 7:00PM TO 8:00 PM AND THEN WENT OFF BY ITSELF. ON 3/13/ 17 IN THE MORNING I WAS 40 MIN TO WORK AND WHEN I ARRIVED TO MY DESTINATION OF WORK I CONTINUE TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL WHILE DRIVING BUT THE CAR SLOWED DOWN LIKE IT WAS GOING TO CUT OFF, SO I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR, AFTER DOING THIS I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR NORMAL BUT WITH HESITATION. IN AUGUST I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING, SO I PRESS THE BUTTON FOR IGNITION BUT IT WOULD NOT START THIS WOULD HAPPEN OFTEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT DETECT THE PROBLEM WHICH THEY ALSO KEPT THE CAR OVERNIGHT BUT DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. MY CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER SEVERAL ENCOUNTERS FINALLY I WOULD PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND THEN START THE CAR AND IT WOULD START RIGHT UP EVERYONE IT WOULD CUT OFF. I CALL THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM I BECAME VERY FRUSTRATED AND WAS NOT HELP TO SOLVE THIS SITUATION AND STILL FRUSTRATED WITH THE PROBLEMS THAT I ENCOUNTERED WITH THIS CAR AND THE HYUNDAI TAYLOR DEALERSHIP ON WASHINGTON RD IN AUGUSTA GA WITH TIME BRING THE CAR, MONEY TO BE SPENT WITH DIAGNOSTIC TO FIND OUT THAT THEIR IS NO PROBLEM AND I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR- THIS IS MY COMPLAINT. VEHICLE HAS LOOSE STEERING, VIBRATING AND MAKES ODD NOISE WHEN ACCELERATED

  10. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Engine, Sep 13, 2016

THE CAR TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THERE IS A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE AREA. THE CAR ALSO HESITATES, AND IT IS A LOUD ROARING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE AREA. THE ISSUES OCCUR WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY, IN MOTION, AND ON THE CITY STREET AND HIGHWAY. WHEN I PRESS DOWN ON THE BRAKE THE CAR CUTS OFF.

  11. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Service brakes, Aug 6, 2016

CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK- WAS PARKED AND WENT TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT, CALLED MECHANIC USED SHIFT RELEASE BUTTON TO GET OUT OF PARK, BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK, CRUISE CONTROL DOESNT WORK, ECS LIGHT STAYS ON. TOOK CAR IN FOR RECALL, THEY SOLD US THE BRAKE PADAL SWITCH THAT I THOUGHT WAS THE RECALL BUT THEY SAID WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM!!! THIS IS MY 17YR OLDS CAR AND I AM VERY NERVOUS TO HAVE HER DRIVE THIS CAR NOW, BUT IT CAN NOT BE UNTIL WE FIGURE OUT BRAKE LIGHTS!!

  12. Other or unspecified, Electronic stability control (ESC), Engine, Jul 22, 2016

I WRITING BECAUSE I AM HAVING ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. IT WILL NOT CRANK. THE BATTERY IS NOT DEAD BECAUSE THE LIGHTS, RADIO COMES ON, IT WILL NOT CRANK AT ALL I HAVE A PUSH BOTTON ONE. I TOOK IT FOR A OIL CHANGE ON JULY 15 2016 AND HAD TO PAY A EXTRA $75.00 FOR AIR FILTER CHANGE. NOW BEFORE I GOT THE OIL CHANGE MY CAR WAS FINE. SO ON MONDAY 18, 2016 LEAVING THE RESTAURANT MY CAR WILL NOT START.I PRESS THE BOTTON AND NOTHING HAPPEN I SMELL AND SAW SMOKE. LEFT UP THE HOOD NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. I READ ON MEDIA NETWORK, SO MANY PEOPLE HAVING PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2012 2.0 T SONATA HYUNDAI, CAR NOT STARTING AND MINES IS ONE OF THEM. I JUST GOT THE CAR MARCH OF LAST YEAR AND NOW THE CAR IS ACTING UP. I DON'T HAVE $1200.00 TO PAY WHAT MEDLIN HYUNDAI IN ROCKY MOUNT CAN'T FIND. THE SERVICE GUY SAYS IT MYBE THE COMPUTER OF THE CAR, WHEN SOMEONE TRIED TO JUMP START IT THROUGHT IT OFF. BUT I TOLD HIM THAT BEFORE I EVEN GOT A JUMP START. THE CAR MADE A NOISE AND WHITE SMOKE CAME FROM THE HOOD OF THE CAR. THEY STILL BLAMING ME BUT I THINK ITS THEIR FAULT. THE SERVICES GUY SAID THAT THE PERSON THAT CHANGE THE OIL AND AIR FILTER THE CAR ACT LIKE IT DIDN'T WANT TO START. SO WHY DIDN'T THEY TELL ME THAT? I FEEL THAT THEY MESS IT UP OR THERE IS A ISSUE WITH ALL THE 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA 2.0 T THAT A RECALL NEED TO BE SO THE DEALERSHIP CAR FIX THE ALL PROBLEMS FREE. I NEED THIS TO GO TO CEO OF HYUNDAI. THERE IS SOMETHING TRUELY WRONG WITH 2012 HYUNDAI 2.0 T SONATA. AND YOU KNOW THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. HE SAID IT WAS NO FUSE BLOWN, ONLY THING THEY CAN ASSUME THAT IT'S THE COMPUTER IS DYSFUNCTIONAL CAUSE OF THE JUMP. BUT THE CAR WAS SMOKING AND DIDN'T START BEFORE THE JUMP. THESE SONATA IS KILLING OUR POCKETS, EVEN THE USE ONES TOO EXPENSIVE. I DON'T GAVE $1,000 AND $1,000 TO PAY OUT, THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT PROBLEM IS. GOT CAR FROM GABE ROWE.

  13. Other or unspecified, Jul 7, 2016

I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK ON I-65 IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA AND MY SUNROOF EXPLODED. IT SOUNDED LIKE A BOMB GOING OFF AND SHATTERED PIECES OF GLASS HIT THE CARS BEHIND ME. NOTHING HIT MY CAR. I WASN'T GOING UNDER AN OVERPASS, NOR WERE THERE TRUCKS AROUND ME. THE DEALERSHIP NOR HYUNDAI WILL REPLACE IT SO I WILL HAVE TO FILE A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE AND PAY A $500 DEDUCTIBLE. HYUNDAI HAS RECALLED OTHER VEHICLES (VELOSTER) FOR THIS EXACT SAME REASON BUT WILL NOT FIX THE SITUATION WITH THE SONATAS! MY CAR HAS THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF, JUST LIKE THE VELOSTERS. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND HYUNDAI NEEDS TO ADDRESS IT!! THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.

  14. Other or unspecified, Feb 24, 2016

FREQUENT ISSUES WITH BRAKES. LATEST ISSUE, CALIPERS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AT 63,000 MILES BECAUSE THE CALIPERS ARE NOT PROPERLY DECOMPRESSING. A SEARCH OF RECALLS SEEMS TO INDICATE A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH 2015 SONATAS. I AM TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT HYUNDAI SONATAS HAVE A LOT OF BRAKE ISSUES AND IT IS UNCOMMON FOR CALIPERS TO NEED REPLACING AT THIS STAGE.

  15. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Engine, Jan 23, 2016

1/23/2016 8:02 AM I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MY WIFE WHO WAS DRIVING HER 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA ON THE I-95 IN SOUTH FLORIDA ON THE WAY TO WORK GOING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, WHEN SHE WENT TO ACCELERATE TO OVERTAKE A CAR DRIVING SLOWER. ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WENT ON AND THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST ACCELERATION POWER AND THE SPEED DROPPED ALL THE WAY DOWN TO 40 MPH. WHEN THE SPEED REACHED 40 MPH, SHE COULD NOT ACCELERATE ANYMORE AND HENCE QUICKLY PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (UPON MY REQUEST). DUE TO THE HEAVY TRAFFIC, SHE WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY NOT TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I ARRIVED TO SWITCH CARS WITH HER, THE CAR STARTED FINE AND ACCELERATED APPROPRIATELY. I TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WHO AFTER RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS CAME UP THE FOLLOWING: NO CODES STORED IN MEMORY AND NO SIGNS OF WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE CAR TO ACT LIKE THIS. THEY RECOMMENDED A THROTTLE BODY CLEANING WHICH IS CURRENTLY BEING COMPLETED (I AM WRITING THIS FROM DELRAY BEACH HYUNDAI). THEY STATED THE THROTTLE BODY STICKING MAY BE THE CAUSE, BUT WENT ON TO ADMIT THEY REALLY HAD NO IDEA AS DIAGNOSTICS GAVE THEM NO INFORMATION. AFTER THIS INCIDENT, WE ARE CONCERNED THAT THE CAR IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE AND THE FACT THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO COME UP WITH ANY CAUSE IS EVEN MORE OF A CONCERN.

  16. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Service brakes, Dec 21, 2015

THE VEHICLE HAS A HISTORY OF LOSING POWER COMPLETELY. AT THIS POINT I AM UNABLE TO ENTER THE CAR WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY, YOU HAVE TO DO IT MANUALLY. THE CAR WAS PARKED ON THE STREET. ONCE YOU PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION THE HORN/ALARM GOES OFF AND DOESN'T STOP. IT ALSO SEEMS TO BE REVVING WHILE IT IS IN PARK. WHILE DRIVING I EXPERIENCE LITTLE POWER SURGES FROM THE CAR WHERE IT ACCELERATES WITH ME TRYING TO DO ANYTHING. THERE WAS ALSO ANOTHER INSTANCE WHERE THE CAR WOULD NOT START ONCE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. ONCE DISENGAGED THE CAR STARTED WITH A LITTLE HESITATION. I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 6 MONTHS AND HAVE HAD TO BRING IT BACK TO THE DEALER AT LEAST 6 TIMES.

  17. Other or unspecified, Nov 16, 2015

EARLY THIS YEAR WHEN I STARTED MY 2012 SONATA IN THE MORNING FOR WORK IT STARTED TO STALL. IN MARCH WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR OIL CHANGE I NOTIFIED THEM OF THIS ISSUE. THEY SAID THE BATTERY NEEDED REPLACING. IT GOT BETTER AFTERWARDS UNTIL TWO WEEKS AGO. I THOUGHT MAYBE THE KEYLESS REMOTE NEEDS NEW BATTERY AND SO SWITCHED TO THE SPARE REMOTE THAT I HAD BARELY USED. IT DID NOT HELP. BUT I NOTICED THE STALL HAPPENED IN THE MORNING WHEN I LEAVE FOR WORK, NOT IN THE AFTERNOON WHEN I GO HOME. MAYBE BECAUSE I HAVE TO USE THE REMOTE TO UNLOCK THE CAR IN THE AFTERNOON AND MAKE THE CAR CONNECT TO THE "KEY" RATHER THAN DISPLAY " KEY NOT DETECTED." THIS MORNING I COULD NOT GET THE CAR STARTED AFTER TRIED ALL MY TRICKS FOR NUMEROUS TIMES. I WAS STRANDED AND HAD TO USE MY VACATION FOR WORK. MADE AN APPOINTMENT LAST WEEK WITH THE DEALER FOR THIS TUESDAY. WONDER HOW I AM GOING TO HAUL THE CAR TO THE DEALER IF I CAN NOT GET IT STARTED.

  19. Other or unspecified, Sep 28, 2015

I SAW THE RECALL NOTICE IN THE PAPER. CALL DEALER,HAD APPOINTMENT TODAY. WHEN ARRIVED TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOT A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM YET. THIS IS BULL I THINK HYUNDAI IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A CHEAP WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM KILL OR INJURED BEFORE THEY FIND THEIR CHEAP SOLUTION. THIS IS MY ONLY CAR AND BECAUSE OF MY HUSBAND RECENT DEATH, I CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE. PLEASE TRY TO EXPEDITE HYUNDAI TO FIX.

  20. Steering, Suspension, Other or unspecified, Jun 17, 2015

THE FRONT-END WILL WOBBLE AT CERTAIN SPEEDS, AROUND 25 & 45 MPH. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES NOW. FIRST, THEY FIXED THE ALIGNMENT. NEXT, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DETECT ANYTHING WRONG. THIRDLY, I DROVE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, AND HE IMMEDIATELY DETECTED A PROBLEM. HE HAD THE FRONT 2 TIRES REPLACED, WITH ALLEVIATED THE PROBLEM FOR A TIME, BUT WITHIN A COUPLE WEEKS, THE WOBBLE COULD BE FELT EASILY AGAIN, AT THE SAME SPEEDS AS BEFORE.

  21. Other or unspecified, Sep 22, 2013, crash

I WAS IN MY PARKING SPACE AND HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO GET OUT OF THE SPACE. WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR IN REVERSE, IT TOOK OFF AT AN INCREDIBLE SPEED, DID A SEMI-CIRCLE, AND HIT ANOTHER CAR. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO MY LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER WHO WAS UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE EVENT OR CHECK OUT THE CAR. I PLAN ON CONTACTING HYUNDAI CORPORATE TO PROVIDE THEM WITH THIS INFORMATION.

  22. Power train, Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Apr 6, 2012

VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIT AND ALL DASH LIGHTS LIT UPON STARTING THE CAR. IT WOULD NOT LET ME SHIFT IT INTO ANY OTHER GEAR. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER FOR SEVERAL DAYS WITH THEM CONSULTING WITH HYUNDAI. THEY REPLACED SOME CONTROL MODULE TO REPAIR IT. -------------------------- TWO WEEKS LATER, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. IDIOT LIGHTS WERE ON AFTER STARTING THE CAR,BUT I COULD NOT SHIFT IT OUT OF PARK. DEALERSHIP SWEARS ITS A DIFFERENT ISSUE AND THEY ARE CONSULTING HYUNDAI YET AGAIN. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER A WEEK NOW AND THEY CAN'T TELL ME WHEN I'LL GET IT BACK. *TR
