Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Santa Fe, 2017-2018 Santa Fe Sport, 2019 Santa Fe XL, and 2014-2015 Tucson vehicles. The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module could malfunction and cause an electrical short, which could result in an engine compartment fire.
An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the ABS multi-fuse, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 31, 2022. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 218.

An authorized Hyundai dealership performed a major engine replacement on my vehicle on June 11, 2024. The vehicle mileage was documented as 110,797 miles in and 111,799 miles out. In September 2026, after the vehicle had reached 129,430 miles, I brought it to an authorized Hyundai dealership because of a severe gasoline odor and evidence of gasoline entering the engine oil. The dealership documented the vehicle at 129,430 miles in and 129,431 miles out. The documented mileage from the 2024 engine replacement's out-mileage of 111,799 to the September 2026 diagnostic in-mileage of 129,430 is 18,633 miles. The vehicle was returned to me, but the fuel/oil contamination condition recurred within approximately 48 hours. The oil level subsequently increased substantially. I repeatedly requested the dealership's technician narrative, diagnostic findings, test results, and electronic service documentation showing what was inspected, what was tested, and what findings supported the dealership's diagnosis. The dealership performed the work, yet these records have not been provided to me. Hyundai corporate has also not provided the requested documentation and has directed me toward additional diagnostic expense rather than providing the records from the inspection already performed. The 2024 engine-replacement documentation lists the replacement engine and associated service parts, including service kits 21111-2GK50-QQH and 21111-2GK70-QQH, as well as oil-cooler pipe/hose assembly 25470-2G050-QQH. I am requesting that the actual service records establish what components were installed, replaced, transferred, or reused during that repair. I am not claiming that the available information by itself establishes the root cause. My concern is the recurrence of apparent fuel contamination of the engine oil only 18,633 miles after the documented engine-replacement out-mileage, combined with the lack of diagnostic documentation from the authorized dealership's inspection. I am su

The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the oil warning light was illuminated. The contact then stated every two weeks he had to add two to three quarts of oil and he noticed that a dark gray cloud of smoke came from the tailpipe. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the oil line was replaced and an oil consumption test was advised however, the test was not performed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number and advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.

BOUGHT CAR IN DEC 2017. JULY 8, 2018, CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING. NO ISSUES BEFORE THIS EVENT. NO WARNING, CARE JUST WENT UP IN FLAMES STARTING FROM UNDER THE CAR/THE ENGINE. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON OTHER MODELS OF HYUNDAI CARS, BUT THEY DO NOT INCLUDE HYUNDAI TUSCONS. I THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE DUE TO THIS CAR.

STAINLESS STEEL FUEL TUBE REPLACED FOR SECOND TIME IN 15 MONTHS; FIRST TIME WHEN ENGINE BLEW (PISTON CAME APART) AND SECOND TIME 2 DAYS AFTER ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED AT DEALERSHIP (EFI SERVICE). FUEL LEAK DEVELOPED WHEN FUEL PUMP RUNNING AS CAR BEING DRIVEN AT 70 MPH. STRONG FUEL SMELL IN VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AND FUEL WAS RUNNING OUT AT RAPID RATE. CAR STARTED TO STALL ON INTERSTATE 10 W BETWEEN HOUSTON AND SAN ANTONIO. I WOULD LIKE A RECORD OF THIS OCCURRENCE IN ORDER TO DETERMINE IF PART IS DEFECTIVE OR MECHANIC AT FAULT. THIS IS THE SECOND REPORT I HAVE FILED IN REGARDS TO THIS VEHICLE. THE PART NUMBER ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FUEL TUBE IS 35305-2G700. THE FIRST REPORT WAS WHEN THE ENGINE BLEW NOVEMBER 2015 WHILE COMING OFF I-57S IN BOURBONNAIS, ILLINOIS. THAT REPORT NUMBER IS 10807620. 3 INVOICES OF REPAIRS SHOULD BE ATTACHED.
