Recalls and investigations

  1. Suspension, rearMar 30, 2023

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Jayco Atlante, Precept, Precept Prestige, Entegra Emblem, Vision, and Vision XL motorhomes. The rear stabilizer bar attachment brackets may break and separate from the vehicle.

Brackets that separate from the vehicle can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect the bolt tightness for both rear stabilizer attachment brackets and replace the weld nuts, bolts, and brackets as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 24, 2023. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is Ford 22V-731.

  2. Equipment, recreational vehicle/trailerMay 4, 2022

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Jayco Precept motorhomes. The heat shield beneath the storage compartment may not be long enough, which can allow the heat from the exhaust system to melt the storage compartment.

A storage compartment that melts can increase the risk of a fire.

Dealers will extend the heat shield, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 27, 2022. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267.

  3. EngineOct 29, 2020

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Jayco Alante, Precept, Entegra Vision, 2021 Jayco Precept Prestige, Entegra Vision XL, and Emblem motorhomes built on a Ford F-53 chassis. The engine covers may not contain sufficient heat insulation, causing the interior surface temperatures to be excessive.

Excessive surface temperatures can increase the risk of injury to the occupants.

Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will install an additional insulation insert, and a foam seal on the outer edge of the cover, free of charge. The recall began December 28, 2020. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9903527.

  4. Equipment, recreational vehicle/trailerOct 28, 2020

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2021 Vision, Emblem, Vision XL, Alante, Precept, and Precept Prestige recreational vehicles, equipped with a Power Bedlift System. The bedlift motor may fail due to internal gear failure, causing the overhead bunk bed to release from the stowed position.

If the bed releases unexpectedly from the stowed position while moving, it could contact the driver and possibly block their vision, increasing the risk of a crash and injury.

Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will replace the bed motor, free of charge. The recall began November 18, 2020. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-517-9137. Jayco's number for this recall is 9903525.

  1. Trailer hitches, Other or unspecified, Jul 3, 2026

This concerns the towing hitch on the Jayco precept. While driving the hitch collapsed and the towing arms started to drag on the ground It tore away where the bends are, that form part of the plate that is bolted onto the precept. This could have resulted in destroying our towed vehicle or if the last inch had separated it would have caused the towed vehicle to no longer be attached to our Jayco. It could have caused serious injury to other vehicles on the road. Fortunately we had just stopped at a light and heard the towing equipment scraping on the ground, so we were able to unhook and travel to find a welder to weld it back in place.

  2. Structure, Other or unspecified, Engine and engine cooling, Aug 19, 2024

The heat shield above the catalytic converter and associated pipes were not extended far enough which caused the pass through storage and wiring harness covering to melt. This could have been a disaster. There is a recall on 2018 and prior same models for the exact same problem. Jayco is of no help as there is not a recall for this year model. There are other owners with the same problem. This could cause a fatality while driving

  3. Structure, Other or unspecified, Sep 27, 2023

The HLM (out of business) trailer hitch tore at the welds on both sides. Manufacturer states you can tow 5,000 lbs./500 tongue. My trailer fully loaded is 4600/380. I took the RV back to the Jayco Service Center, where I purchased it, to be repaired. I was informed HLM(aka pull rite) was contracted to build the hitch and no longer manufacture it. I was also informed that the hitch is mounted on a frame extension. The Ford Chassis ends just past the axles and the bedroom is built on this frame extension. I have several concerns with the safety/quality of this type of manufacturing(during COVID). Not only because this happen to us, but I have learned years other Jayco Class A owners (2020-2022) have experienced the same thing. We could have lost the whole trailer at highway speeds that could have resulted in a huge catastrophe to others!! Very unsafe! The first 3 pictures are of my hitch. The rest of the pictures are from other Jayco RV Owners that could have lost their tow cars/trailers too. I want to emphasize, no one was towing over capacity.

  4. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Visibility/wiper, Aug 4, 2022

The heat shield on the floor of the passenger side is missing near the exhaust manifold. The shield cable for the batteries and other wiring has melted and shorted some wires. The heat was so hot that it melted the plastic storage compartment also and exposed the vehicle to exhaust gases and heat. This is an extreme safety hazard as the vehicle could catch on fire. I am scared to drive the vehicle.
