Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a power liftgate. An electrical short in the power liftgate module may lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off.
A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will relocate the power liftgate module and add a water shield. In addition, dealers will inspect for corrosion and replace the module and electrical connectors, if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner letters were mailed March 1, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 49A. This recall supersedes recalls 15V-393 and 15V-826. Vehicles repaired under the prior recalls will still need to have the new remedy performed.

Power train, driveline, differential unitJun 11, 2020
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a two-speed Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Relative movement in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) between the differential input splines and the transmission output shaft may cause some input spline teeth to wear off, which may eventually cause a loss of engagement between the transmission and the differential inside the PTU. If this occurs, power cannot be transferred between the front wheels and the transmission which results in a loss of drive while the vehicle is in motion and a loss of the Park function while stationary.
A loss of drive can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. A loss of the Park function can cause unintended vehicle rollaway which can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will perform a software update that will maintain vehicle propulsion by engaging rear wheel drive and prevent rolling in Park by activating the electronic parking brake if a failed input spline occurs. This recall began July 14, 2020. Owners may contact FCA USA LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is W47.

Power train, automatic transmissionJun 13, 2019
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.2L engines. In the event that a clutch becomes stuck in the transmission, the transmission software may shift the transmission to neutral.
An unexpected shift to neutral would result in a loss of drive, increasing the risk of crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the transmission software, free of charge. The recall began August 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V69.

Electrical system, wiringMay 17, 2018
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

EquipmentDec 21, 2017
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf
If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.
Chrysler will notify owners instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began February 14, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or Kidde customer service service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee and 2015 Chrysler 200, Jeep Renegade, RAM ProMaster, and 2016 Fiat 500X vehicles equipped with 9-speed automatic transmissions. The transmission sensor clusters may have insufficient crimps in the transmission wire harness, and as a result, the transmission may unexpectedly shift to neutral. On August 29, 2016 Chrysler added the 2016 Fiat 500X vehicles to this recall.
If the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral, there is an increased risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module and the Transmission Control Module and if necessary replace the transaxle range sensor wire harness, free of charge. The recall began on November 7, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S55.

Equipment, electrical, radio/tape deck/cd etc.Jul 23, 2015
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500, 2015 Chrysler 200, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger, 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, and Dodge Durango, and 2013-2015 Dodge Viper vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.
Exploitation of the software vulnerability may result in unauthorized remote modification and control of certain vehicle systems, increasing the risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify and mail affected owners a USB drive that includes a software update that eliminates the vulnerability, free of charge. Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on August 25, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R40.

WHEN I AM DRIVING MY CAR WILL SHIFT ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL AND STALL OUT AND THEN IT WILL SHUT OFF WHEN I AM TRAVELING 70 MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THEN WHEN I HAVE TO TURN IT BACK ON I HAVE TO TURN THE KEY THEN SHIFT MY CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND LET IT COAST A LITTLE SO THAT WAY IT WILL TURN OVER. IT HAS DONE THIS 6 TIMES NOW AND THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED IT BROKE DOWN AND IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP. THE LAST THREE TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY, TRAVELING ABOUT 70 MPH. WHEN IT HAPPENED ABOUT THE THIRD TIME A DIFFERENT LIGHT CAME ON SAYING MY THROTTLE PEDDLE WAS GOING BAD AND THAT THE IGNITION WAS GOING BAD AS WELL. I TOOK IT TO GO GET THE CODES READ BUT EVERY WHERE I TOOK THEY WERE SAYING THEY COULD NOT HELP ME AND THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR IT. MEANWHILE MY FIANCE AND I LOOKED UP RECALLS ON THE JEEP CHEROKEES AND THERE IS RECALLS ON THE TRANSMISSIONS AND OTHER THINGS AS WELL. AND ALL THE RECALLS ARE FOR THE 6 CYLINDER JEEPS BUT MY JEEP IS HAVING ALL THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT THE 6 CYLINDER JEEPS ARE HAVING. BUT NO ONE WILL HELP FIX IT. I HAVE TALKED TO CHRYSLER CORPORATION 2 TIMES AN EACH TIME WE TALK TO THEM THEY SAY IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND THAT IT IS OUR PROBLEM. MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND IT DO NOT TRUST TO EVEN HAVE MY FAMILY IN IT.

FOR THE PAST YEAR, THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING APPEARS WHILE I'M DRIVING. TO REMOVE THE ALERT, I'VE SIMPLY HAD TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND IT CLEARS OUT. I DON'T FEEL ANY DIFFERENCES TO THE WAY THE CAR DRIVES, SO I'M ASSUMING THIS IS AN ELECTRONIC OR SENSOR BASED ALERT. TAKING IT TO THE DEALER, THEY WANT AN ASTRONOMICAL AMOUNT OF MONEY TO GET THIS FIXED. MOST DEALERSHIP DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THIS AND DON'T HAVE INFORMATION REGARDING THE ISSUE. I AM REQUESTING THAT AN INVESTIGATION IS CONDUCTED REGARDING THE ROOT CAUSE FOR THIS ISSUE. ACCORDING TO THE FORUMS, THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY DIFFERENT MODELS OF JEEPS RANGING FROM 2014 AND NEWER.

SERVICE SHIFTER DISPLAY ON INSTRUMENT PANEL. CANNOT CHANGE GEARS. ALL OVER WORLD WIDE WEB WITH OTHERS HAVING SAME ISSUE. JEEP DEALER REPLACED. WITH NEW WIRE HARNESS AND GEAR SHIFT BEZEL. $500 DOLLARS. MIGHT HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. WIRE HARNESS WAS NOT SOLDIERED CORRECTLY TO SHIFTER BEZEL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 80 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. DURING THE RECENT FAILURE, THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO BE PUSHED OFF THE ROAD. THE DEALER (UNKNOWN DEALER INFORMATION) STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE SAME THING AS THE DEALER AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FIVE SEPARATE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

FILLED UP THE GAS TANK AND JEEP STARTED STALLING WITH IN THE FIRST MILE OF DRIVING, WAS THINKING IT MIGHT BE THE FUEL CAP SO I TIGHTENED IT AND DROVE THE JEEP FOR A FEW MILES AND EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL. NEXT TIME, AFTER ANOTHER FILL UP A MONTH LATER, MY CAR STALLED WHEN I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN ABOUT A MILE AFTER FILL UP, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, AND I CHECKED THE GAS CAP AGAIN TO BE SURE IT WAS TIGHT AND RESTART THE ENGINE, THEN WHILE IN MOTION GOING THRU A TURN AT AN INTERSECTION ABOUT 1/4 OF MILE DOWN THE ROAD, IT TRIED TO STALL AGAIN BUT LUCKILY DIDN'T COMPLETELY SHUT OFF,AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL, AND THE DISPLAY SAID I NEEDED TO PLACE JEEP IN PARK THEN SELECT DRIVE. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND PLACED THE SHIFTER TO NEUTRAL THEN BACK TO DRIVE. I PROCEEDED DOWN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE AGAIN SHIFTED IN TO NEUTRAL AND THE DISPLAY STATED THE SAME, TO PLACE IN PARK THEN SELECT DRIVE. THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN TWO MILES AFTER FILLING UP. I DROVE IT ANOTHE 60 MILES OR SO AFTER THIS WITH NO PROBLEMS. HAD NO REAL PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS, OTHER THAN THE SHIFTING LAG EVERYONE HAS COMPLAINED ABOUT. ALL RECALLS HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED. NOT SURE IF THIS IS ONE PROBLEM CAUSING THE OTHER OR TWO SEPARATE PROBLEMS.I WILL TEST IT OUT ON A BACK ROAD AND TRY TO GET A PICTURE OF THE DISPLAY IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND PLAN A VISIT TO THE DEALER FOR A SERVICE CHECK AFTER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND.

WE HAVE A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE 2.4 WE HAVE CONSTANT PROBLEMS WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHT COME ON AND THE CAR SHIFTS INTO NEUTRAL WITH NO WARNING WE'VE TAKEN IT INTO JEEP AND THEY TOLD US THEY DID A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE TRANSMISSION WE GOT IT BACK AND IMMEDIATELY DONE IT AGAIN BUT IN THE INTERSECTION OF A BUSY ROAD. WE'VE CALLED THE DEALER BUT THEY TOLD US THERES NOTHING THEY CAN DO ITS GOING TO GET MY FAMILY SERIOUSLY HURT AND OTHERS. IT HAPPENS WITH NO WARNING JUST DRIVING SOMETIMES WHEN ACCELERATING OTHER TIMES WHILE ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH I WISH WE NEW WHAT TO DO. IT HAPPENS 2 TO 3 TIMES A DAY
Power train, Nov 22, 2019
THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING COMES ON THE SCREEN AND ALL LIGHTS NEXT TO THE SHIFTER LIGHT UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND IN TOWN DRIVING. HAS NOT HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED. RESTARTING THE VEHICLE APPEARS TO RESET THIS CONDITION, BUT IT HAS COME BACK MULTIPLE TIMES.

POWER TRAIN: TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN MAKING A LARGE THUG WHICH MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU GOT HIT BY A CAR OR PUTS A DELAY WHICH YOU THINK THE CAR STALLS. NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS MAKING LOUD NOISES AND WITH A INCREASE OF TEMPERATURE. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE WE'VE BOUGHT THE CAR. EVERY TIME WE CHANGE THE OIL OR BRING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, WE ASK ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THEY DID A SOFTWARE PUSH BUT IT STILL DID IT AND THE DEALERSHIP SEEM TO BLOW US OFF EVERY TIME.
Power train, Nov 13, 2019
DROVE THE VEHICLE TO WORK, EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. GOT IN THE VEHICLE TO GO HOME AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT, AND SERVICE PARKING BREAK LIGHT CAME ON. WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE, BUT THE SHIFT WAS EXTREMELY HARD. SOUNDED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS ABOUT TO FALL OUT. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP.
Power train, Engine, Nov 12, 2019
THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE IN DRIVE AND RESULTS IN HARD START WITH ROUGH IDLE. THE VEHICLE SAYS THAT IT IS IN PARK AND NEEDS TO SHIFT INTO GEAR IN ORDER FOR IT TO MOVE. THIS VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES ON CITY STREETS, HIGHWAYS, TURNING, AND BRAKING. THIS COULD RESULT IN A FATAL CRASH FOR OTHERS ON THE ROAD. ECU TCU ECM ARE BELIEVED TO BE AT FAULT FOR THIS PER JEEP. THE JEEP IS IN SHOP AND AWAITING INVOICES TO SEE IF THIS FIXES THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE IT IS THE SAME RECALL AS THE V6 VERSION.
Power train, Nov 8, 2019
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 1-2 MPH, THE CHECK TRANSMISSION AND PARKING BRAKE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ALSO STARTED TO SHUDDER. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED HARD SHIFTS BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DON MILLER DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM FIAT (5802 ODANA RD, MADISON, WI 53719, (608) 270-5000) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" ALARM COMES ON WHILE I AM DRIVING AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE GEAR SHIFT LIGHT UP RES. P RDN, ALL OF IT. THE CAR STILL RUNS. THIS HAS HAPPENED 8 TIMES NOW. I PULL OVER AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURN IT OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON AND IT IS ALL OKAY. THE DEALER SAID IT JUST NEEDS AN UPDATE. DID THAT THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED BUT IS HAPPENING AGAIN AND AGAIN.
Power train, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Nov 3, 2019
AS I APPROACHED AN INTERSECTION AND PUSHED ON THE BREAKS THE CAR STALLED OUT. WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR IT STALLED OUT AGAIN WHEN I TRIED TO BREAK A SECOND TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, THE CAR STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAIN ROADWAY AS I APPROACHED A RED LIGHT; I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED. I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR. ONCE I GOT IT RESTARTED I TRIED TO PUT IT IN GEAR AND THE CAR BUCKET AND STALLED OUT AGAIN. I TRIED A NUMBER OF TIMES TO RESTART THE CAR AND EVENTUALLY GOT IT STARTED. I EVENTUALLY GOT IT INTO GEAR AND STARTED TO DRIVE OFF THE ROADWAY. THE CAR DROVE VERY JITTERY AND WITH LITTLE TO NO POWER. MOST WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON - 4WD INOPERABLE; PUT CAR INTO GEAR AND RESTART, SERVICE TRANSMISSION, TRACTION CONTROL PROBLEM, BATTERY PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD IT TO TWO DEALERSHIPS. ONCE SAID IT WAS THE BATTERY; I REPLACED IT. THE OTHER FIRST SAID IT WAS OIL CONSUMPTION WITH THE ENGINE BUT WHEN THAT TURNED OUT NOT TO BE THE CASE THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER/JEEP ARE TELLING ME THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM DUE TO OVERFILLING THE GAS AND THAT THE ONLY FIX IS NOT TO TOP OFF THE GAS TANK. REALLY? THIS ONLY STARTED AT @ 42,000 MILES. ALSO, I DON'T THINK THE GAS WAS TOPPED OFF EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED. I ALSO LIVE IN A STATE WHERE YOU CANNOT PUMP YOUR OWN GAS SO IF THE GAS STATION PUTS TOO MUCH GAS IN THE CAR STALLS AND CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD? HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH GAS? THERE IS NOTHING IN THE CAR MANUAL. THERE IS NO WARNING IN AND AROUND THE GAS TANK. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND CAUSES A VERY DANGEROUS CAR TO OPERATE. THERE EITHER NEEDS TO BE A REAL FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM OR THE CARS NEED TO BE TAKEN OFF THE ROAD. *LN*DT*JB

SHIFT SERVICE WARNING - 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS FOR SOME TIME WITH HESITATION WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE (LOUD BANGING NOISE WHEN INITIALLY SHIFTING). CAR HAS 113,000 MILES CURRENT, BUT ISSUE STARTED AT 85,000. @ DEALERSHIPS DID DIFFERENT WORK SAYING IT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM (REPLACE FRONT CV SHAFTS AND REAR DRIVE SHAFT AT HIGH COST AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTED). NOW I AM GETTING A SHIFTER SERVICE WARNING LIGHT AND BANGING BETWEEN GEARS GETTING WORSE. 95% OF MILEAGE HAS BEEN HIGHWAY WITH NO STOP AND GO, SO THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AND SHOULD BE A NATIONAL RECALL ON THE DRIVE SYSTEM. RESEARCHING THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE ARE MASSIVE

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ALWAYS EXPERIENCED TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO KUNES COUNTRY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF ELKHORN (1300 WI-67, ELKHORN, WI 53121, (262) 686-2029) REGARDING AN UNKNOWN RECALL FOR A TRANSMISSION UPDATE. PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIR, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD GRIND, REV UP, AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FROM A STOPPED POSITION. AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR, IF THE VEHICLE WERE ON AN INCLINE, IT WOULD OCCASIONALLY SHIFT OUT OF GEAR INTO NEUTRAL AND ROLL BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW. THE WARRANTY WAS FOR UNLIMITED MILES FOR UNLIMITED YEARS. THE DEALER WAS CALLED BACK AFTER THE FAILURES RECURRED AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REFLASH THE SOFTWARE BACK. THE MANUFACTURER TOOK A COMPLAINT FOR THE CUSTOMER, BUT HAD NOT CALLED BACK IN OVER A WEEK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS WELL KNOWN AND THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT THAT EXPIRED AFTER THE CONTACT MOVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS INVALID.

EVER SINCE THE FCA RECALL V69, WE HAVE A PROBLEM IN WHICH "SERVICE SHIFTER" IS LOCKED ON THE MAIN DISPLAY AND RED LIGHTS STAY ON TO THE LEFT OF THE GEAR SELECTOR. THIS HAPPENS AT START UP AND STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING. THIS NEVER HAPPENED UNTIL RIGHT AFTER WE GOT THE RECALL V69 CORRECTED. IS FCA GOING TO SUBMIT A RECALL FOR THIS NEW PROBLEM?? THIS SHOULD NOT BE ON MY DIME.

RECALL NUMBER 16V-529 HAS NOT BEEN REMEDIED FOR 3 YEARS, AND I'VE EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS ISSUES BECAUSE OF IT. JEEP WILL NOT LOOK AT IT FOR FREE DESPITE THE FACT THAT I'M AFFECTED BY THIS WARRANTY. MY CAR SHIFTS INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING FREQUENTLY, AND IT'S UNACCEPTABLE THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A FIX FOR THIS YET.

TRANSMISSION FAILED OR SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 75 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I HAD TO PULL OVER, TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON THEN DROVE FINE. THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON.
Power train, Oct 19, 2019
BEGINNING AT ABOUT 19000 MILES THE GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS WOULD ALL COME ON AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING. STOPPING THE JEEP AND SWITCHING IT OFF WOULD MAKE THE LIGHTS GO OFF. AT ABOUT 90000 MILES IN ADDITION TO THE LIGHTS COMING ON THE SHIFTER, THE DASH WOULD LIGHT UP WITH "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE. ONCE AGAIN STOPPING AND TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING AS MANY AS 5 TIMES WOULD MAKE THE MESSAGE AND LIGHTS GO OFF. THE VEHICLE IS SERVICED REGULARLY AT THE JEEP DELEARSHIP AND WAS CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO ERRORS SHOWING ON COMPUTER. AFTER GOING ON LINE TO RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM, I FOUND NUMEROUS WEBSITES WITH PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND STATING THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO THE LARGE NUMBER OF VEHICLES INVOLVED. ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO THE SAME MESSAGE AND LIGHTS CAME ON AND IT TOOK OVER 10 MINUTES OF TRYING TO START BEFORE I COULD GET THE MESSAGE OFF AND ABLE TO PUT THE JEEP INTO GEAR TO CONTINUE ON MY WAY HOME (WAS OVER 2 HOURS FROM HOME ON THIS TRIP). THE JEEP DEALERSHIP ORDERED PARTS THAT THEY SAID SHOULD FIX IT (I WAS ORIGINALLY TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT PROBLEM AS LONG AS IT WAS GOING OFF). I SPENT OVER $500.00 GETTING THIS FIXED. SINCE THIS IS A RECURRENT PROBLEM WITH SO MANY PEOPLE, I BELIEVE THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS ALSO A DANGER TO DRIVERS LEAVING THEM STRANDED BESIDE THE ROAD BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. FROM THE ON LINE FORUMS THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL MODELS AND YEAR MAKES OF JEEPS. MY JEEP STARTED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE WARRANTY WAS UP (AT 19000 MILES). HOWEVER SINCE IT WAS NOT REPAIRED (AND I HOPE IT IS) UNTIL AFTER THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, I HAD TO PAY OVER $500.00 FOR WHAT I BELIEVE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. IT TOOK OVER A MONTH FOR PARTS TO COME TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR.

VEHICLE STARTED LOSING POWER WHILE STOPPED AT LIGHT IN TRAFFIC, LESS THAN A MILE DOWN THE ROAD WHILE COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LUNGE FORWARD AS IF I WAS ACCELERATING THEN VEHICLE LOST POWER AND ENGINE STOPPED. VEHICLE MESSAGE STATED TO 'SHIFT TO PARK AND THAN SELECT DESIRED GEAR.' ONCE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED TO PARK AND THEN TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY WENT INTO 'LIMP MODE' NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I MADE THE 5 MILE JOURNEY BACK HOME WITH THE VEHICLE LOSING POWER WHILE SLOWING OR LUNGING WHILE STOPPING. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AS THIS IS ALMOST GRANTEES THAT THERE WILL BE AN ACCIDENT. PRIOR TO THIS DAY NO SIGNS OF FAILING COMPONENTS.

WHEN I SHIFTED TO MANUAL AND WENT UP AND DOWN GEARS THE CAR DID NOT RECOGNIZE THAT CHANGE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND THE SERVICE SHIFTER NOTIFICATION WAS NO LONGER THERE AND SHIFTER LIGHTS WERE BACK TO NORMAL.
