Recalls and investigations

  1. Electrical system, wiring, rear compartment/trunkPark outsideMay 11, 2023

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a power liftgate. An electrical short in the power liftgate module may lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off.

A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.

Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will relocate the power liftgate module and add a water shield. In addition, dealers will inspect for corrosion and replace the module and electrical connectors, if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner letters were mailed March 1, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 49A. This recall supersedes recalls 15V-393 and 15V-826. Vehicles repaired under the prior recalls will still need to have the new remedy performed.

  2. Power train, automatic transmissionApr 27, 2023

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles. The power transfer unit (PTU) may become damaged and disengage the transmission and differential, resulting in a loss of drive power or loss of park function.

A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash. A loss of park function can cause an unintended vehicle rollaway which can increase the risk of a crash or injury.

FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will perform a software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 11, 2023. Owners may contact FCA USA LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 45A. This recall expands previous recall number 20V-343.

  3. Power train, driveline, differential unitJun 11, 2020

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a two-speed Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Relative movement in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) between the differential input splines and the transmission output shaft may cause some input spline teeth to wear off, which may eventually cause a loss of engagement between the transmission and the differential inside the PTU. If this occurs, power cannot be transferred between the front wheels and the transmission which results in a loss of drive while the vehicle is in motion and a loss of the Park function while stationary.

A loss of drive can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. A loss of the Park function can cause unintended vehicle rollaway which can increase the risk of a crash or injury.

FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will perform a software update that will maintain vehicle propulsion by engaging rear wheel drive and prevent rolling in Park by activating the electronic parking brake if a failed input spline occurs. This recall began July 14, 2020. Owners may contact FCA USA LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is W47.

  4. Electrical system, wiringMay 17, 2018

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

  5. EquipmentDec 21, 2017

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.

Chrysler will notify owners instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began February 14, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or Kidde customer service service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. A fractured halfshaft may disconnect from the drive axle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the left halfshaft, free of charge. The recall began on June 30, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler's customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's recall number is S38.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Jeep Cherokee vehicles manufactured February 18, 2015, to September 10, 2015 and equipped with the power liftgate option. In the affected vehicles, water may leak into the Power Liftgate Control Module and result in a high resistance short circuit.

A short circuit in the module increases the risk of a fire.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the module and connectors for corrosion, replacing the damaged components as necessary. 1. Air bags, Feb 7, 2020, crash

I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN IN MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WHEN I WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE WHO WAS HEADED THE TOWARDS ME. I SUSTAINED MAJOR FRONT END DAMAGE IN A COLLISION AND THE CAR WAS TOTALED, AND NONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE OTHER VEHICLE A CHRYSLER PACIFICA, SUSTAINED LESS FRONT END DAMAGE AND BOTH OF THEIR AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE IMPACT WAS HARD ENOUGH TO SPIN MY CAR COMPLETELY AROUND SO I WAS FACING THE OPPOSITE WAY AND ENDED UP FACING THE SAME DIRECTION AS THE CAR THAT HIT ME.

  2. Power train, Electrical system, Feb 5, 2020

WE HAVE TAKEN OUR JEEP IN COUNTLESS TIMES SINCE OBTAINING IT BRAND NEW IN 2016 FOR A SERVICE SHIFT ISSUE. THEY REPLACED OUR THERMOSTAT THE FIRST TIME THEN WIRING HARNESS TO THE TRANSMISSION/BCM THE SECOND TIME SINCE THEN THE DEALERSHIP HAS STATED WITH OUT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THIS ISSUE. EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS OUR JEEP HEATS UP PAST 220 DEGREES AND STARTS TO RUN ROUGH.

  3. Other or unspecified, Feb 4, 2020

'SERVICE SHIFTER' MESSAGE KEEPS POPPING UP ON THE DASH, ACCOMPANIED BY ALL GEAR LIGHTS IN RED. USED TO STOP AFTER POWERING THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON AGAIN. I'VE SEEN THAT SO MANY OTHER JEEP CHEROKEE OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS. HOW IS THIS NOT A RECALL? SO UNFAIR FOR THOSE OF US OUTSIDE OF A WARRANTY.

  4. Power train, Feb 3, 2020

TRANSMISSION SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE. TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN AND IT WENT AWAY. HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. HAD THE SHIFTER AND WIRING HARNESS REPLACED ONCE BEFORE. THIS WOULD BE THE SECOND TIME THE SHIFTER AND HARNESS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. FIRST TIME HAPPENED AT 17,330 MILES. SECOND TIME AT 21,000 MILES.

  5. Other or unspecified, Feb 3, 2020

WHEN I START MY CAR, THE DASH SAYS 'SERVICE SHIFTER' AND THE ' P R N D' ALL STAY LIT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH/ MONTH AND A HALF. MY JEEP ONLY HAS 29,000 MILES ON IT. IF I RESTART MY CAR, IT SEEMS TO GO AWAY FOR THE TIME BEING.

  6. Power train, Feb 2, 2020

APRIL 2019 SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE KEPT GOING ON AND OFF TOOK IT TO DEALER AND WAS CHARGED TO REPLACE SHIFTER BEZEL KIT AND JUMPER WIRING. THEN IN JANUARY 2020 THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE CAME ON AND OFF AGAIN AND WAS NOW CHARGED TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER.. MESSAGE ALWAYS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND WENT OFF WHEN TURNED ENGINE OFF. I SE AS ARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR.

  7. Power train, Jan 30, 2020

"SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING COMES ON WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, THEN AGAIN ON STREET. THE "PRND" LIGHTS ALL LIGHT UP AS WELL. VEHICLE RETURNS TO NORMAL AFTER TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING. CONTACTED DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT, AND IF LIGHT/WARNING IS NOT ON THEY WILL BE UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE.

  8. Other or unspecified, Jan 30, 2020

TRANSMISSION SHIFTS UNEXPECTEDLY INTO NEUTRAL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (65 MPH). WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED THE ENGINE REVS BUT THE CAR DOES NOT RESPOND AS IF IT IS IN NEUTRAL. THE ONLY WAY TO REMEDY IS COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE FREEWAY AND SHUTTING OFF AND RESTARTING THE CAR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND I'VE TAKEN IT TO DEALER AND THEY'VE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND STATE THAT THERE IS A TRANSMISSION RECALL AFFECTING THE 2014-2015 MODELS, NOT MINE WHICH IS A 2016. THE LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP LOOKED UP THE CODE P0887 (TCM RELAY), BUT STATED THAT HE WOULD NOT WORK ON IT BECAUSE OTHER 2016 JEEP CHEROKEES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM CONTINUE COMING BACK WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, EVEN AFTER GOING SO FAR AS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND RELAY. HE RESET THE CODE, BUT THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED A DAY LATER AT FREEWAY SPEEDS (65MPH) AND I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED AS I STALLED. APPROX 4 DAYS LATER THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN AT FREEWAY SPEEDS (65 MPH). I NOW DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON MAINLY SURFACE STREETS AND AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE OF THE CLOSE CALLS I'VE HAD WITH MY TRANSMISSION SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. MY MODEL IS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE 2WD 2.4L 4-CYL ENGINE.

  9. Electrical system, Jan 29, 2020

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, AN AUDIBLE CHIME WAS HEARD AND A MESSAGE STATING SHIFT TO PARK DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. A CASE WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.

  10. Electrical system, Jan 28, 2020

WHEN I START MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE AND PUT IT IN 1 SEC GEARKL ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY SHIFTER LIGHT UP AND STAY LIT. A MESSAGE ON MY DASH BOARD SAYS "SERVICE SHIFTER". I TRIED TURNING THE JEEP OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON BUT ALL THE LIGHTS STILL STAY ON.

  11. Power train, Jan 27, 2020

BACK ON JULY 2019 MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WAS BROUGHT TO ALLEN MELLO SERVICE DEPARTMENT DUE NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA AND IT WAS SHAKING. AFTER THEY DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE (THEY REPLACED OIL FILTER HOUSING, DRAINED & REFILLED OIL AND ADJUSTED COOLANT LEVER, "ROCKER ARM/LIFTER NOISE PRESENT AT IDLE. REPLACE RIGHT BANK AND LEFT BANK INTAKE & EXHAUSE CAMSHAFTS, LIFTGERS, AND ROCKER ARMS) I SPENT $3,301.05 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AND I FEEL AS THOUGH THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER MY WARRANTY OR CHRYSTER SHOULD HAVE PAID 1/2 OF THE BILLED. SHOULD SOMETHING SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALLED OR WAS THIS VEHICLE MISSED TO BE ON RECALL SAFETY LIST. THIS WAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE LIKELY IT WAS FIXED. BUT I FEEL I SHOULD BE COMPENSAED FOR ALL OR HALF OF THE BILLED. SEE INVOICE ATTACHED.

  12. Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 27, 2020

WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY OR LOCALLY I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING WHEN ACCELERATING AND IT FEELS LIKE THE FUEL PUMP/FUEL INJECTION IS NOT RUNNING CORRECTLY. THE PROBLEM STARTS AT 20MP / 40 MPH AND AT TIME AT 60MPH. I HAVE BROUGH IT BACK TO ALLEN MELLO IN NASHUA WHERE I HAD BOUGHT THE JEEP AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN'T GET FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. THE HOOKED UP MACHINE TO SEE THEY CAN GET A CODE AND NO CODE IS BEING DETECTED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE NOVEMBER 2019 AND I HAVE ABOUT ENOUGH. I KNOW THEY IS A JEEP RECALL ON FUEL PUMP AND I AM CERTAIN THAT MY JEEP WAS MISSED. THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER WITH THE JEEP. I CALLED THE JEEP RECALL TODAY 1-27-20 AND THEY ADVISED ME TO NOTIFIED NHTSA REGARDING THIS MATTER.... THEY ALSO SAID LIKE I STATE ABOVE MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE PROBABLY WAS MISSED TO BE ON THE RECALL.

  13. Power train, Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Jan 21, 2020

SERVICE SHIFTER DASHBOARD MESSAGE AND THE P. R. N. D. LIGHT UP RED OFF AND ON, THREE TIMES SO FAR WITHIN A SIX MONTH PERIOD WHAT DO WE DO? JEEP DEALER AND HEADQUARTERS MAINTAINS NO COMPLAINS HAVE BEING FILED THE PROBLEM HAPPENS DURING CAR MOVING

  14. Power train, Engine, Jan 21, 2020

THANKFULLY, AFTER READING A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FROM THE SAME PROBLEM AS MY, WE WERE STILL IN OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN REVERSE AND STARTED TO BACK OUT WHEN WARNING CAME UP TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AND THEN SELECT GEAR. SO PUT IN PARK AND PUT INTO DRIVE TO PULL BACK INTO DRIVEWAY WHEN WARNING CAME ON TO SERVICE TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 54000 MILES ON IT. READING OF A LOT OF PEOPLE HAS THIS SAME ISSUE, SOME WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE

  15. Engine, Jan 17, 2020

FOLLOWING DAY VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 55 MPH . DEALERSHIP CONTACTED AND VEHICLE BROUGHT IN FOR INSPECTION. DEALER CONCLUDED THAT ENGINE HAD NO OIL, ALTHOUGH INTERNAL INDICATORS FAILED TO ADVISE AND SHOWED VEHICLE HAD 60% OIL LIFE REMAINING AND 3000 MILES UNTIL SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE. DEALER ADVISED THAT VEHICLE IS KNOWN TO BURN OIL, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3X ALREADY. THE JEEP CHEREOKEE MANUAL STATES OIL CHANGES SHOULD BE DONE EVERY 8,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN GETTING MY OIL CHANGES WAY BEFORE THE STATED REQUIREMENT OF 8000. THERE IS CLEARLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY ENGINE. I HAVE A 10 MONTH BABY AND I AM TERRIFIED OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. IT RANDOMLY SHUTS DOWN AND STALLS. IAM SO SCARED FOR MY LIFE EVERYTIME I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS ALL I HAVE . I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW!! MY ENGINE IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED.

  16. Power train, Jan 16, 2020

A MESSAGE STATING "SERVICE SHIFT" APPEARED IN THE MESSAGE BOARD AND RED LIGHTS CAME ON NEXT TO ALL SHIFTS, WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IT HAPPENED SUDDENLY ON MY DRIVE TO WORK.

  17. Engine, Jan 13, 2020

CAR STALLED IN MIDDLE OF ON RAMP. NO CONTROL BECAUSE CAR TURNED OFF.

  18. Electrical system, Jan 13, 2020

SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE AND RED LIGHTS LIT BY GEARS ON SHIFT. IN MOTION. STARTING IT UP. ALL THE TIME

  19. Power train, Jan 12, 2020

"SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE WITH SOLID RED LIGHTS ON SHIFTER PANEL(P-R-D, ETC.). MESSAGE DISAPPEARS WHEN VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. THIS SITUATION OCCURS RANDOMLY AND HAS APPEARED APPROXIMATELY 6-8 TIMES IN LAST SIX MONTHS. THIS OCCURS WHILE THE VEHICLE IN IN MOTION AND AT NON HIGHWAY SPEEDS.

  20. Power train, Jan 12, 2020

VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND STALLS SHOWING SERVICE TRANSMISSION WARNING MESSAGE.

  21. Other or unspecified, Jan 11, 2020

ABOUT 13 MONTHS AFTER I FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING APPEARED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. IF SO, NOT TO WORRY. THE WARNING APPEARED AGAIN ANOTHER FEW THOUSAND MILES LATER AND CONTINUES TO POP UP RANDOMLY EVERY FEW THOUSAND MILES. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT MAY BE A GLITCH THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE WOULD FIX, BUT HASN'T BEEN FIXED WITH UPDATES SO FAR. I JUST ROLLED OVER 36,000 MILES SO THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAD THE SAME WARNING APPEARED TODAY. I'M CONCERNED THAT NOW THE ISSUE WILL REQUIRE A MAJOR HARDWARE REPLACEMENT THAT THEY WILL RECOMMEND NOW THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY. ONE OF MANY ISSUES WITH THIS JEEP. MY FIRST AND LAST TIME BUYING A JEEP.

  22. Steering, Vehicle speed control, Engine, Jan 8, 2020

WHILE IN DRIVE THE JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT (PREMIUM PKG) CAR CUTS OFF IN STREET 3X AND HWY 4X AND ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON. BOUGHT CAR NEW WITH 16 MILES ON ODOMETER FROM CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER. MANUFACTURE WARRANTY EXPIRED 2 MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM. MILEAGE 63,000 MILES. I HAVE AN EXPENSIVE EXTENDED DEALER WARRANTY. CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER SAYS ENGINE WILL BE REPLACED W/ NO DEDUCTIBLE AND NO ADDL CUSTOMER COST ACCORDING TO DEALER WARRANTY.. OIL GASKETS BLOWN ALSO WITH EXCELLENT SERVICE RECORD AT CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER.. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE AN EXPENSIVE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON A NEW CAR AND HAVE TO REPLACE AN ENGINE FOR A CAR UNDER 5 YEARS OLD. CAR HAS ONE DRIVER 62 YRS OLD, NO ACCIDENTS NO TICKETS IN 15 YEARS THIS IS AWFUL FOR A 3.25 YEAR OLD JEEP!! CAR HAS BEEN AT JEEP DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT SINCE DEC 31, 2019 FOR ENGINE REPLACEMENT.

  23. Power train, Jan 8, 2020

KEEP GETTING A NOTIFICATION THAT SAYS "SERVICE SHIFTER" DASH LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER THAT LIGHT UP RED P,R,N,D. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THIS IS A PROBLEM, BUT IS NOT A RECALL. I'VE DONE SOME HOMEWORK TO FIND OUT THAT THIS IS IN FACT A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH JEEP AND HAS BEEN ONGOING. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT! AT FIRST THIS THE SERVICE SHIFTER WOULD APPEAR AFTER MY JEEP WAS STARTED AND GO AWAY ONCE I RESTARTED IT AND WOULD NOT APPEAR AGAIN. NOW THE "SERVICED SHIFTER " IS STAYING ON AND NOT ALLOWING ME TO SEE ANYTHING ON MY DASH. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOTIFIED ME TO GET IT TO COME OFF I MUST PAY A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE PART. 2 OTHERS WHERE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUE AT THE SAME TIME I WAS, AND AS YOU COULD IMAGINE NONE OF US WERE HAPPY TO LEARN THIS WAS NOT A RECALL. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR DIES OF THE FAULTY GEAR SHIFTERS IN THESE JEEPS!!!!! AT FIRST THE NOTIFICATION CAME ON AT START UP, BUT NOW COMES ON WHILE DRIVING!!

  24. Engine, Jan 7, 2020

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET THEN WENT TO TAKE A LEFT AND MY CAR SHUT OFF. I GOT IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TRIED TO START IT,WOULD NOT START. I THEN WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND TRIED AGAIN AND IT STARTED LUCKILY I WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND CALLED TOW TRUCK AND THEY BROUGHT IT TO DEALERSHIP FOUND OUT IS BURNING OIL ONLY HAD 35;698 MILES AND WHEN THE CAR GETS DOWN TWO QUARTS OF OIL THESE CARS WILL SHUT DOWN WITH NO NOTICE. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED. NO DASH LIGHT COMES ON.

  25. Power train, Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Jan 6, 2020

ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO WHILE DRIVING THE CAR CHIMED AND THE MESSAGE "SERVICE SHIFTER" APPEARED ON THE SCREEN ALONG WITH ALL LIGHTS NEXT TO SHIFTER TO LIGHT UP RED. THE VEHICLE HAS TO TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED TO RESET. NOW THE SAME THING KEEPS HAPPENING. THIS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE THE OVER THE AIR UPDATE. EXTREMELY IRRITATING AND SCARY THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED THANK GOD I WASN'T IN AN ACCIDENT LIKE OTHER REPORTS HAVE NOTED. JEEP NEEDS TO RECALL THIS ISSUE AND FIX IT!!!
