While driving the car, the shifting mechanisms are not working correctly. Stalling, hard shift etc. Causing jolts, and sudden stop/start movements. I was driving in the snow when my car jolted and was unable to stop on the ice leaving me in the snow bank. Went to put it in 4wd and the 4wd wouldn’t work. Brought it to the dealer repair shop where the recall was determined as the culprit. I have waited a year for the recall with no news, updates and being unable to drive my car.

Rear differential lock rings broke and caused leaking fluid, as reported to me by a dealer service department. This could lead to handling problems and even total system failure. No warning lights, messages, or noticeable symptoms. Upon an internet search, I found that this seems to be a COMMON issue with Jeep Cherokee's - therefore, I'm not sure why it isn't already a recall.

The vehicle is subject to an active safety recall involving the two-speed power transfer unit (PTU), which can cause loss of motive power and/or loss of PARK function. The vehicle displayed a “Service 4WD” message and all-wheel drive functionality is disabled. The issue has been confirmed by a Jeep dealership, which stated that the recall repair cannot be performed because the manufacturer has not released the remedy under the recall. The dealership also stated the replacement PTU part is available for retail purchase but is not authorized for recall installation. The vehicle is being operated in winter conditions without all-wheel drive, increasing the risk of loss of control. The manufacturer has provided conflicting information, with the recall assistance center stating the recall was resolved, while the dealership and VIN recall system continue to show the recall as incomplete. Warning messages related to the drivetrain appeared prior to this complaint. The vehicle has not been repaired, and the recall remains open with no timeline for remedy.

I previously reported a safety issue with my vehicle and have not received a response. My complaint number is 11709360. Issue still remains and no recall is associated to my vin number yet, even after locating a recall for my vehicle make, model and year when researching on line.

The rear differential went out on it on Nov 27th, I had it towed back to the dealer and they kept it until Jan 5th and said they had fixed it. I have a hand written receipt from them but it's not very detailed. It does seem better but I can still hear a small noise that concerns me because it sounds and feels just like it did before. I just started financing this vehicle so im not sure what to do and I cant get any help with it. Its scary to drive sometimes but it's my only transportation and I have 3 small children. The check engine light is on but it didn't come up until after they worked on it the first time.
Power train, Feb 5, 2026
It has been over a year since I got my notice of recall. Still no fix for this according to the dealer. It is completely unacceptable that I have a vehicle that is not really usable without risk while they sit around and dont get a fix. It can not be that complicated. Replace the ptu if they have to. I know it sucks but if its a safety thing then it needs to be done.

Vehicle: 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Elite VIN: [XXX] Recall: Stellantis / Jeep Recall 01C (NHTSA 25V‑011) Dealer: Carson Dodge Chrysler Jeep, Carson City, Nevada Description: My 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Elite (VIN [XXX] ) is included in Stellantis Recall 01C. It has now been more than a year since the recall was issued, and Stellantis still has not provided a remedy for my vehicle. My servicing dealer, Carson Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Carson City, Nevada, reports that no parts are available for the recall and that Stellantis has not provided any timeline for when parts or the required software remedy will be released. This recall involves a safety‑related defect in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) that can cause loss of drive power or loss of Park function. Despite the severity of the defect, Stellantis continues to delay both the software remedy and the availability of replacement PTU components. I am unable to obtain the required repair, and the manufacturer has not met the federal requirement to provide a timely remedy. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate Stellantis for an unreasonable delay in providing recall repairs for Recall 01C and require the manufacturer to supply the remedy without further delay. Subject: Safety Recall 25V 011 – Remedy Delay Over One Year / Request for Immediate Action I am contacting you regarding Safety Recall 25V 011 affecting my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. I received the original recall notice over a year ago, and Stellantis has still not provided the required repair parts or an approved remedy. Federal law requires manufacturers to provide a free recall remedy within a reasonable time, and NHTSA generally considers 60 days to be the guideline for timely completion. A delay exceeding one year is not reasonable, especially for a defect that can cause loss of motive power, inability to shift, and potential roll away. I am requesting the following: 1.Written confirmation that the recall remedy and parts are still unavailable. 2.Escalation of my case to Stellantis for review due to the excessive delay. 3.A loaner vehicle or alternate transportation if my vehicle is considered unsafe to operate under the recall conditions. 4.Notification as soon as parts become available or if interim repairs or accommodations are authorized. Please document this request in your system and provide a written response. I am also filing a report with NHTSA regarding the extended lack of remedy. Thank you for your prompt attention. See attached document for complaint. Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Unresolved Recall and Vehicle Held Since February 2025 To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this letter to formally report significant concerns regarding an unresolved safety recall affecting my Jeep Cherokee. My vehicle has now been held at an authorized dealership since February 2025 due to the lack of an available remedy. Since the original recall notice, I have contacted both the dealership and the Stellantis recall hotline multiple times. Each time, I am given a new projected month for the remedy to become available. In October I was told November, in November I was told December, and now in December I am being told January. This cycle continues with no definitive solution, effectively leaving me without access to my vehicle for nearly a year. I am also concerned about the extended period of inactivity and the resulting potential for component degradation, including leaky seals, warped rotors, electrical issues, and tire damage. The service department assured me this would not be a concern, but I disagree and believe the prolonged storage may create additional safety issues or repair needs. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in reviewing this matter, as the lack of remedy and extended vehicle hold time appears unreasonable and may represent a failure in recall execution. Thank you for your attention to this safety concern.

I have been having an intermittent 4WD SERVICE light come on, then after a while it stayed on. I brought the vehicle to my mechanic who diagnosed the issue as a failing Power Transfer Unit (PTU). He suggested I bring to the dealership for diagnosis as he saw recalls and service bulletins related to this issue, indeed I found "NHTSA Campaign 25V011000 (Reported April 2025): Involves the power transfer unit (PTU), which may damage and cause loss of drive power or park function. Consequence: Increased crash or injury risk from stall or rollaway. Remedy: Software updates and PTU replacement if needed (free); final remedy expected January 2026. Contact FCA at 1-800-853-1403 (recall #01C)" Even tho this issue is the same as reported in the recall, for some reason my VIN is not included in the recall. The car has been at the dealership awaiting repair since Monday, Jan 12 and I am told the part is on backorder and will not be available until Feb 16. So my car is out of commission for about 5-6 weeks due to this faulty part that is prevelant in these vehicles. I argued for some goodwill assistance and they did give me some relief, but I believe this should be included in the recall. Can you assist me with getting my vehicle included in the recall? The issue was first diagnosed by my mechanic in Nov 2024 at 53,998 miles then again in Jan 2026 at 64,896 miles. The dealer has had the car since Jan 12, 2026.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving 20-25 MPH, the vehicle experienced reduced power and jerked significantly. The contact was able to drive to the nearby residence. The AWD warning light was illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, to be diagnosed, and the dealer determined that the PTU had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer informed the contact there would be reimbursement for any vehicle rental expenses; however, the contact was unable to afford a rental, and the manufacturer had become unreachable. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.

Failing PTU (power train unit) causing power loss and high risk of breakdown or crash
Power train, Jan 25, 2026
Since December 2025 we have had a "Service 4WD" light on our dash. Recall 01C was announced on 01/26/25. I have contacted Jeep dealers and Chrysler customer service with help/resolution to this. That all tell me to wait for parts. It's been a year. When will this be addressed???
Power train, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 23, 2026
Well the engine definitely failed to provide power for me to drive my vehicle. And as I am doing more and more research on what the PTU does, which is what there is a recall on. It appears the PTU not working correctly on my vehicle affected the engine, and the ability for car to properly utilize oil, thus affecting the operation of the cylinders 1 and 4 on my vehicle. I am being told I need a new engine however, I believe the PTU problem directly affected my engine because everything that happens with the failure of the PTU is similar things that happen with the failure of my engine, thus the two really are related. And if the PTU "talks to" the engine for proper consumption and usage of oil then, my current engine replacement needs to be covered under the recall of the PTU and any other possible engine problems with other Jeep Cherokee engine recalls. I would like someone to contact me and have a discussion with me and/or an attorney as I am considering now hiring one because of the safety risk of continued problems especially putting in another engine and having the PTU affect the engine again. Also mechanics are saying there is no way that this engine failed unless there was something else wrong upon installation of the engine or something else affected the operation of the engine, as in the PTU.

There has been an open recall for over a year and no remedy has been found. I am having failure with my speed power and every dealership wants to charge me because there is no remedy for this recall. My vehicle is eventually going to give out if I don't get this fixed and unfortunately i don't have the money.
