Recalls and investigations

  1. Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, control unit/moduleNov 7, 2024

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles. A malfunction in the antilock-brake system (ABS) module may incorrectly illuminate the brake lights and disable the ABS and electronic stability control (ESC). In addition, the vehicle operator may be able to start and shift out of Park without the brake pedal being applied.

A vehicle that can be started and shifted out of Park without applying the brake pedal can result in a vehicle rollaway. Disabled ABS and ESC systems can reduce vehicle handling and control in certain driving situations. Brake lights that incorrectly illuminate can fail to properly indicate the driver's intention to following traffic. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the integrated pressure transducer and update the ABS module software, as necessary free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 16, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 94B. This recall replaces previous recall number 22V-426. Vehicles previously remedied under 22V-426 will need to have the new remedy completed.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L Diesel engines. The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate, causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.

An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the powertrain control module software to maintain vehicle propulsion, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 3, 2023. Some owner notification letters were mailed October 31, 2023. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a future date, anticipated July 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Driving and the display screen kept switching uncontrollable and caused a safety issue while I was driving and was not in a familiar place, and was trying to use the screen for navigation directions. Concern as it was switching screens/adjusting the heat controls while I was driving. Research indicates my screen has become delaminated and a known issue with this car. Concern that while I drive this continues and may be a safety risk.

Delamination of radio is causing the radio to change radio channels, not be able to use the handless phone option or adjust heated seats. The constant beeping when the radio is constantly and randomly changing channels is a safety hazard. FCA is aware of the issue and has not issued a recall and is denying repairs for the consumers.

  4. Other or unspecified, Jan 3, 2024

I purchased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The second I left the lot, the screen started flashing the Clock Settings screen. I researched this and it states that it's a known issue because the screen delaminates. I purchased a warranty and the company will not cover it. This is a SAFETY HAZARD. From hours of research, this issue has been known and Jeep needs to do a recall on this. If someone gets hurt pertaining to the disfunction of the screen and it's options, there will be a lawsuit and I don't think Jeep wants to deal with that. I'm trying to upload a video of what it does, but for some reason this website isn't letting me upload anything.

  5. Other or unspecified, Dec 21, 2023

With less than 40k miles on my vehicle the leather dash on my Jeep has begun to delaminate. I'm concerned for the way this will impact the front passenger airbag to deploy in the event of a collision. Additionally this causes a viability issue due to the glare at certain times of the day when the sun is shining through the windshield and onto the dash.

  6. Other or unspecified, Dec 17, 2023

UConnect navigation system shows current location as West Virginia but vehicle is in Missouri. If attempted to use or refer to onboard compass associated with system would result in significant driving direction/location mis-information. Software is current up to date for system; system is currently inoperable in this condition. Prior to this however navigation and compass were working correctly. Review of numerous Jeep online forums shows this navigation system failure to be quite common and likely requires complete radio/information system replacement. Why has no recall been issued?

  7. Other or unspecified, Dec 7, 2023

The display screen in the center of the dashboard is delaminating. This is very dangerous becasue it randomly changes all the settings constantly. heat on/off, radio on/off anything that has a touch button on the screen (which is just about everything for that car) can randomly change at any time. It is getting worse as time goes on. This is a safety issue. When looking online I see this is very common for 2018 Jeeps, but is not a recall. It is a safety issue and should be a recall it is happening to so many 2018 Jeeps.

  8. Other or unspecified, Nov 27, 2023

Uconnect screen started to delaminate causing phantom touches. Poses a danger and safety risk to driver and passengers. “screen off” button does not work since it’s registering touch. This also causes inability to control safety features.

  9. Other or unspecified, Nov 16, 2023

Dash cover separating/bubbling from dash panel as if the adhesive under cover is releasing. My bigger concern is if the airbag had to deploy it would take/pull the entire cover of the dash instead of blowing out from its designed location possibly hindering the airbags effectiveness and safety. I know a similar recall has been issued in the past on previous model years that was a concern for this very thing.

Hello, There is a few things going on with this vehicle, this is a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 27k miles. Uploading recalls on this vehicle. 1. It has a fuel leak, this is a vehicle that does not have a gas cap, it has been fully diagnosed by the dealer, they want to charge $900.00 to repair plus a $250.00 diagnostic fee. 2. Car would not move, stopped abruptly, had to turn car on and off while in traffic in order to get car going, almost causing an accident. 3. Car will tell you its about to hit another car when it's not and will turn on and off while driving, almost causing an accident. Dealer does not want to take a look at the car unless you pay them $250.00, want to keep the car for a week and does not want to provide a car rental while car is under their diagnostic phase. Dealer assessing the car is Kendall Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram at 13355 SW 137th Ave, Miami, FL 33186, spoke to Lazaro Varas, assistant service manager. Please guide me on what to do, thank you. 2018 Grand Cherokee....As you are aware of this already, the radio screen started delaminating and now the crystals are leaking out of he bottom of the screen. This in turn causes all the systems to go off and on at random, that can be controlled by the screen. All safety functions are now disabled due to this problem. Several attempts were made to contact the dealership and jeep customer care, only to be told that here is nothing they can do and to buy a new one. They also said there was no guarantee that the new radio wouldn't do the same thing. This is a top of the line high altitude grand cherokee that now doesn't have any of the safety features and comforts that i paid top dollar for. Jeep should honor their quality control issues but have been blowing everyone off. I have been on many forums and they are having the same issue. I got your website from one of the forums and can't believe that is has been a long time since they posted and you couldn't do anything about it so far. Thanks for listening, [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The screen is delaminating a little bit not long after I bought the car. Now the delamination came down to the radio button. There is a “ghost button” which makes the screen jump from the radio to the map nonstop. It is impossible to use the map even map from car play . It is very dangerous to drive on highway.

  16. Other or unspecified, Oct 29, 2023

The UConnect touchscreen on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee has experienced delaminating and I currently experience phantom touches on the screen (I don't touch the screen but selections are randomly made). These phantom touches are a serious distraction to a driver and they happen frequently. Given all of the controls for the automobile that can be made from the screen, it is a serious safety issues to drivers of these vehicles with this issue as well as others on the road. I have read on numerous online forums that there have been many others that have or are currently experiencing this problem. I believe the auto maker should have these vehicles recalled and appropriately fixed. Please look into this issue ASAP before someone is hurt by the automaker's inaction. I'd be happy to answer any questions that you might have about this problem.

  17. Other or unspecified, Oct 27, 2023

The Uconnect (screen with radio/nav/driver control) is "delaminating". Which means the one screen layer is separating from another layer. This causes the screen to change randomly. With the Uconnect on, I can expect the radio to change stations, AC/Heat to change temperatyre/speed and basically anything that the Uconnect controls. It all depends on what part of the screen is effected that particular day. It's a huge distraction and no way to eliminate using the Uconnect since it control some of the basic car functions. I am unawar of a fix o this problem.

  18. Other or unspecified, Oct 14, 2023

My radio keeps going in and out. Making it hard to use my rear view camera or manage controls for heating and cooling. I have tried resetting with no luck. It is a big distraction while driving.

Have a 2018 jeep grand Cherokee that audio and, computer control screen is delaminating, causing erratic behavior of the stereo and other random controls like the heated seats turning on and off caused by the delamination of the screen shortly out of the manufacturer warranty of 36,000 miles and I took it to the dealership and they told me it was not covered under warranty and that I would have to pay for a new computer controlled screen I feel this is a safety concern because it can cause distracted driving

  21. Other or unspecified, Oct 3, 2023

We bought this vehicle brand new in 2018, since then it has had an entire new engine, numerous check engine lights and safety recalls. There are now 2 recalls that pose a risk for my family and I with no solutions provided. Chrystler refused to buy back the vehicle or provide us with a loaner while a solution is not available. This type of business is not right. I’m left with an unsafe vehicle.

  22. Other or unspecified, Sep 27, 2023

U connect touch screen delaminating screen. Causes several distractions while driving. Moreover, It controls heating and defrost system which controls and severely impacts driver visibility in certain driving conditions. Especially during rain, snow very hot and cold weather conditions. It’s a fact that we can’t control the elements. As well the backup camera is affected by disabling backup alerts. It’s over $1k to repair and not covered under warranty. This is a common problem for the make and model vehicle and there are several forums inquiring about the same issues. Statistically this is a problem that’s deserves immediate attention. shortly after my purchase we experienced a pandemic that caused a financial strain. It’s unreasonable for the maker to put the burden on consumers. When they choose produce a products that’s effects the well being of there customers. This is the 4th Jeep I’ve purchased I have never dealt with this until now. so why would they change the vendor unless it was minimizing manufacturing cost making this an ethical issue as well

Entire front leather dash has delaminated and separated by bubbling up from the original glue not holding. Also, the exhaust resonators (both sides) on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is bad on both sides and blowing out fiberglass from my exhaust pipes all over the backside of my car. I’ve read on multiple forms that several customers have encountered the exact same issues on their Jeeps as well. Is this issue being addressed and covered by the manufacture? If so, I definitely would like this to be taken care of.

  25. Other or unspecified, Sep 19, 2023

The U CONNECT screen is de-laminating and this is leading to ghost presses on the screen. If my phone is connected, it will start randomly calling people. The entertainment system will change inputs, stations or tracks at random - allowing up to 4 seconds before switching. The automatic climate control will change fan speeds and function constantly. The GPS navigation screen will not stay up and tries to reroute while driving or switch to another function. This is not just an glitch every once in a while, this is constant change - I have a 20 second video showing the screen changing to the climate controls, turning off the auto function, change fan speeds 4 times, change the vents being used then going back to auto and then changing the screen to the media screen and then putting the time change up. My kids are saying the car is possessed. This behavior is very distracting to the driver and is a hazard. Other safety issues include not being able to use navigation to get to an unknown location and not being to use hands free calling. Does not matter if the car is moving or stationary.
