Vehicle Information: Year / Make / Model: 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4xe Component(s) Involved: Engine / Hybrid Powertrain / Electrical System / Sudden Loss of Drive Power Current Mileage: Approximately 48,000mi Incident Summary I am filing this complaint because my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4xe has developed a dangerous new defect following an official recall service: the engine completely dies while accelerating on the highway. I took my Jeep to an authorized dealership to have the safety recall performed for the engine shutdown issue. Before this recall work was completed, I had never experienced the vehicle dying on the highway. Since the recall "fix," however, the engine has cut out completely 4 separate times while accelerating at high speeds. The most recent time happened today (August 3, 2026). Losing all pedal response and motive power in fast-moving traffic with no warning is terrifying and creates an extreme hazard for myself and everyone around me. History of Vehicle Issues & Extended Shop Time This sudden highway stalling comes on top of severe, ongoing electrical problems that have plagued this Jeep. Altogether, the vehicle has spent months sitting in the dealership shop, yet the problems remain unfixed: Post-Recall Engine Shutdowns: 4 separate complete power loss incidents while accelerating on the highway (latest occurrence: August 3, 2026). Unresolved Battery Drain: Ongoing parasitic battery drain that kills the battery, requiring multiple rounds of diagnostics without a solution. Pervasive Electrical Glitches: Frequent system glitches, including frozen touchscreens, instrument cluster reboots, random dash warning lights, and connectivity drops. Media Hub Issues: Hardware problems involving the media hub module. Requested Action The recall fix did not solve the safety hazard—it seems to have triggered a new, life-threatening stalling issue on the highway, along with the string of other issues, it's unsafe to drive.
Electrical system, Forward collision avoidance, Aug 1, 2026
My vehicle has multiple software and electrical issues that Jeep has been unable to diagnose or repair, and there is currently no recall addressing these problems. One of the most serious issues is that the vehicle will randomly switch the display language from English to Italian while I am driving. When this happens, the speedometer changes from miles per hour (MPH) to kilometers per hour (KPH), making it difficult to know my speed without pulling over and manually changing the language back to English. This creates an unnecessary safety concern. Additionally, the automatic door lock feature no longer functions properly. Although the dealership has repaired it in the past, the problem has returned. I also continue to receive a dashboard warning indicating that the Forward Collision Warning system is disabled, even though the feature is clearly enabled in the vehicle's settings. This inconsistency raises concerns about whether the safety system is functioning as intended. Another ongoing issue is that the vehicle randomly drains its battery. Both AutoZone and the dealership have tested the main battery and the auxiliary battery, and both have been found to be in normal working condition. Despite this, the battery drain continues to occur without explanation randomly. These recurring software and electrical problems have become unacceptable. Jeep has been unable to provide a permanent solution, and I believe the company should stand behind its product by acknowledging and resolving these issues.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the lights on the instrument panel became dark and the vehicle stalled. The failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken back to the residence; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
Electrical system, Jul 27, 2026
The 12-volt auxiliary battery on this 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid repeatedly discharges to a completely dead state while the vehicle is parked and switched off. The vehicle has failed three times in approximately 30 days. First failure, June 26, 2026: the vehicle would not start. Numerous fault codes were stored across multiple modules, including P0562 (system voltage low). The odometer display was flashing, indicating a module had dropped off the communication bus. Second failure, July 13, 2026: less than 48 hours after returning from a road trip and parking, the same condition recurred. The vehicle required external 12-volt power to start. Third failure, July 26, 2026: a brand-new AGM battery had been installed on July 24, 2026. Within 48 hours of installation the battery measured 5.85 volts — fully discharged. An 80Ah battery discharging in 48 hours indicates a continuous parasitic draw of roughly one amp, which is 20 to 40 times the normal key-off draw for a sleeping vehicle. Owner testing has ruled out both the battery and the charging system. The DC-DC converter was measured delivering 127 amps at 13.9 volts, confirming it functions. The replacement battery accepts and holds a full charge, resting at 13.06 volts after recharge. The previous battery passed a printed conductance and load test. During each failure, the entire camera system and the ParkSense park assist system drop out simultaneously and the odometer flashes. Stored codes include U0159-00 (lost communication with parking assist control module) and B2204-00 (ECU configuration mismatch). Separately, and even when the 12-volt system is healthy, the rear backup camera intermittently fails to activate at startup and sometimes only begins working after 5 to 10 minutes of driving. Safety concerns: 1. Rear visibility. The backup camera intermittently does not display an image when the vehicle is placed in reverse. 2. Loss of motive power. 3. Stranding

Unknown On XXX, our 2022 Certified Pre-Owned Jeep Cherokee Hybrid was brought to the West Plains location for a factory safety recall or recalls and the check engine light on. During the software installation, the technician improperly executed the procedure, took the Integrated Dual Charger Module (IDCM) offline, and completely disabled the vehicle. The West Plains Repair Order explicitly states: "Caused by codes for IDCM and module offline, will not come back online, and has disabled vehicle." Because the vehicle was rendered completely undriveable, it had to be flatbed-towed 90 miles to James River Jeep in [XXX] to resolve the corrupted modules. The Ozark service department confirmed the vehicle arrived disabled due to West Plains' improper procedure and required a new battery to restore system diagnostics. The West Plains General Manager, [XXX], flatly refused to cover the resulting $1,100+ invoice for the battery ($638.71) and towing fees. Mr. [XXX] used intimidating tactics, completely dismissed our concerns, and claimed his dealership 'chooses not to work on hybrid batteries' to evade financial responsibility. This claim is demonstrably false; on October 23, 2025, this exact same location successfully accepted and completed Federal Safety Recall 73C to reprogram our vehicle's Hybrid Control Processor software. A franchise dealership cannot choose to opt out of federal recall obligations on a whim, nor should a consumer be subjected to hostile intimidation when a dealer damages their property. Due to the absolute lack of cooperation locally, the vehicle currently sits unpaid at the Ozark dealership. Formal complaints have been filed with the Missouri Attorney General's Consumer Protection Divisionand the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) using Jeep Case #XXX. We are requesting that Corporate Management review this case immediately and coordinate a direct dealer-to-dealer credit to James River Jeep to resolve this INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On approximately January 21st 2026 my vehicle was brought in to Brickell Jeep for the required recall software update. On January 23rd, I was notified that all recalls were complete and that I should come pick up the vehicle. After about a week, I realized that the high voltage battery would not hold a charge and would start to deplete after being fully charged and still plugged in. On February 6th, the vehicle was brought back in for repair. On March 22nd I was told that all was repaired and vehicle was delivered to my home. After about 10 days it one again would not hold a charge. On April 8th, the vehicle was brought back to the dealership. On June 11th I received a call from Stellantis Jeep customer care to inform me that currently, there is no fix for my vehicle and to pick it up and keep it plugged in or it will fail.
Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 3, 2026
This complaint involves a violation of safety recall obligations for Jeep Recall 68C (NHTSA Campaign 25V741000) concerning a high-voltage hybrid battery fire hazard. On Friday, May 29, 2026, the vehicle was brought to Carman Chrysler Jeep Dodge (New Castle, DE) for mandatory recall testing. The vehicle failed the manufacturer's diagnostic analysis due to a critical internal cell separator defect. Because of the immediate thermal and fire risk, the dealership service department immediately grounded the vehicle on-site, stating it is completely unsafe to drive or park near structures. Stellantis/FCA has failed to provide a timely remedy or replacement parts, leaving our vehicle stranded on a commercial lot. Furthermore, the manufacturer has refused to provide direct-billed alternative transportation, offering only an out-of-pocket rental reimbursement model. Because parts are delayed for several months, bankrolling thousands of dollars upfront for a rental vehicle is a massive financial burden that is completely unfeasible for our family. The dealership has also failed to provide physical or digital copies of the failed diagnostic paperwork or Repair Order. We are currently left with a grounded vehicle and no viable, safe transportation.
Power train, Electrical system, Engine, May 16, 2026
I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety-related failure involving my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. I purchased the vehicle used with approximately 15,000 miles and was informed the previous owners leased it and rarely used it. At approximately 40,000 miles, despite completing all recalls in a timely manner, the vehicle experienced the exact type of hybrid system failure a recall was intended to prevent. The issue began when the hybrid system failed and left the vehicle unsafe to operate. Upon startup, only accessory power activated and the engine would not start. A full power cycle was required before the vehicle started. Immediately afterward, warnings appeared including "Service Hybrid System," "Service Charging System," "EAB Unavailable," "Lane Keep Assist Unavailable," "Pedestrian Braking Unavailable," and "Adaptive Cruise Control Unavailable." The check engine light illuminated and all hybrid modes became unavailable. Shifting became erratic and harsh. Downshifts from 2nd to 1st felt like sudden braking and caused me to hit my head on the steering wheel. During acceleration, the transmission slipped and shifted unpredictably. Fuel economy dropped from approximately 22 MPG in E-Save mode to approximately 10 MPG at highway speeds. Diagnostic code P1E1D was retrieved and I was advised the vehicle was unsafe to drive. While driving to the dealership, the vehicle shut down twice while in motion. During both shutdowns, power steering and braking assistance were lost, posing an extreme risk to myself and others while moving the vehicle off a busy three-lane roadway. Dealership diagnostics determined one or both high-voltage battery systems failed and required replacement. Despite completed recalls, the issue still occurred. Parts were backordered over a month. I believe this failure and recall effectiveness warrant investigation due to the serious safety risks created by loss of propulsion, steering, and braking assistance while driving.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact contact received a recall notification, NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a service appointment. The contact was informed that the recall would be completed while the vehicle was at the dealer. The contact was informed that the software update rendered the vehicle to be undriveable. The contact stated that the dealer requested that the battery be replaced. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was operable prior to the recall being performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was informed that the request for the battery replacement was denied. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

I, [XXX] was driving home from work on Friday, May 1st on [XXX] in [XXX] during heavy traffic when my vehicle suddenly shut off while traveling approximately 65–70 mph. I initially thought I may not have been pressing the accelerator hard enough, but the vehicle would not respond at all. I then looked at the dashboard and saw a message that said “push brake to start.” At that moment I realized the vehicle had shut down completely while I was in active traffic. I had to coast across three lanes of traffic without any propulsion to reach the shoulder. During this time, I was nearly struck twice from behind because I could not maintain speed with surrounding traffic. Once I reached the shoulder, I was able to restart the vehicle. I was extremely shaken and frightened by the incident. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle again. I was very aware that I could have been seriously injured or killed, and I am thankful I was not struck. I am especially concerned about what could have happened if my grandchild had been in the vehicle with me. This incident occurred after a recall repair had already been performed in September 2025 related to powertrain/hybrid system issues. The failure appears to be the same or similar to the condition the recall was intended to correct. After restarting the vehicle, I drove cautiously to my husband’s workplace and left the vehicle parked. Since the incident, I have experienced ongoing anxiety and distress reliving what happened. This vehicle was intended to be a long-term purchase, and it is extremely concerning that it now appears unsafe to operate. This event represents a serious safety hazard. A sudden loss of propulsion at highway speeds without warning creates a high risk of crash, injury, or death. I am requesting that this issue be investigated, as the prior recall repair does not appear to have corrected the problem. I do not feel this vehicle is safe to operate. Hybrid battery system, still don't have heat after 2 years of car ownership. Not to mention the hybrid battery failure rate, I've driven several times and the vehicle will just have no power. I bring it to the dealership almost monthly and they always have some excuse. The vehicle's lane assist is also a hazard. I'll just be driving down highway and it'll just jerk the wheel randomly.

I would like to file a complaint against Jeep. I drive a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE with 16,000 miles. While driving to the Store, the electronic parking brake engaged while driving. This caused braking system damage. Jeep / Manufacturer are refusing to reimburse me. The total cost was: $9,129.26. This effected the Actuators, Brake Calipers, Rear Rotors, and Brake Pads. This is not normal wear and tear, however a safety-related defect.

Vehicle recently had recall 68c completed. Was driving in electric mode on the highway at approximately 55mph. Upon pressing accelerator further to increase speed to pass another vehicle, I lost all electric power and the vehicle lost speed down to 40mph, despite accelerator pedal being pressed to the floor. Approx 3-5 seconds later, gas engine started, revved high, vehicle lunged forward to 65mph, continued to accelerate after releasing accelerator pedal, and was able to be slowed by pressing brake. This same situation was replicated 9 hours later on the same highway. Dealer claims this is "normal operation."

The vehicle has experienced repeated electrical failures. On multiple occasions the vehicle would not start and lost all electrical power. The main electrical system appears to fail suddenly, causing the vehicle to become inoperable. The vehicle has been to the dealership multiple times for the same issue and was out of service for extended periods. This is a serious safety concern because the vehicle can completely shut down without warning.

My 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe was recalled in the summer/fall because the high voltage battery could catch fire. This is one of many recalls the car has endured (due to battery trouble) since I purchased it in 2022. I called the dealer as soon as I received the letter and was told that no parts were available and to check back later. I drained the electric battery and did not charge it after that. By mid-December, the check engine light came on (as it has done with other recalls). I took it to the Dealer on January 6, 2026 and was told that they would order a part and do a software update in the meantime. Got the car back late January 7 and it wouldn't shift into gear properly when driving. Took it back January 8 and was given a loaner car. The part was supposed to arrive January 22 but has not shown up yet. The dealer has had my car for almost 2 months now. Called Jeep 2/2/26 and 2/23/26 and talked to Recall department. Both times I was told there was nothing that could be done and I just have to wait it out. Also on 2/23/26 I called the number listed on the recall notice at 10:10 AM MST and received the "office is closed" message. Had to call the main Jeep number that the dealer provided. Dealer says they can't do anything and Jeep says it's the Dealer that has to call on the part. Meanwhile I'm in limbo in a rental.

Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with the switch to Italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well. ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the FCA off lamp). I have had this to the dealership 4 times to be fixed without success. Because this is dangerous (for settings/gauges/units to no longer be useful while driving), and it occurs randomly.
