Instrument panel switches to Italian, forward collision off light gets stuck on and my seat moved abruptly while I was driving down the road. I have taken my Jeep into the dealership last year for this problem, it was “fixed” but has come back. Noticed the light stuck on last week. Today while I was driving the panel changed to Italian and my seat moved abruptly. Many people on online forums express experiencing the same problem.

"Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with the switch to Italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well. ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say there is nothing they can do and to wait for a possible software update, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the FCA off lamp). According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. Here is an example forum discussion, indicating many if not all vehicles are affected: [XXX] Many people on the forum believe this issue did not start until a software update a year or so ago. This is a well known and widespread problem, and there is even a DOT Bulletin on the issue: dot.report Bulletins Because this is dangerous (for settings/gauges/units to no longer be useful while driving), and it occurs randomly, I strongly believe this issue should be a manufacturer recall. Without warning or being given an option to reject the update, my vehicle was updated to settings that no longer offer paddle shifting or the ability to enable or disable the Pedestrian Emergency Braking (PEB) system. The latter results in being unable to turn off the Forward Collision Off light on the dashboard. The update also wiped out most of my settings and changed units of measure to the metric system. According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. The vehicle in September of 2024 after a software update randomly changed the settings. The forward collision off warning light remains on (in settings the forward collision is "on", the language changed to Italian, the paddle shifters stopped working, the units changed, and the grid for the backup camera was turned off). I had it serviced at Jeep. They reset the vehicle which temporarily fixed the issue, however, 3 weeks later it happened again. There is a known MOPAR/star case number S2108000249. This is also reported in Jeep Forum. My safety is at risk due to the failure of the forward collision warning light/software malfunction. I feel that I am at risk for a forward collision. Also the paddle shifters don't work.

I have some major safety concerns with my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, specifically with the AEB. Today was the SECOND time that my automatic emergency braking came on while I’m driving down the highway at 60 mph. The first time was in November. The roads were dry, no other cars coming toward me, driving on a straight stretch, with one car a safe distance behind. My jeep went from 60 to 0 slamming on the brakes so hard and flashing the AEB lights and dinging on the dash. Seat belts locked up tight and gave you a hard fast whip lash forward. Very terrifying like what is even happening?! The car behind me thank goodness had enough time to slam on their brakes and not rear end me! As fast as you could even comprehend what was happening, the lights and dinging stop and you can drive again. I was like maybe a leaf or something blew over the sensor and kind of wrote it off because nothing came up on my Jeep app. Fast forward to today, February 25th. Again roads are dry, no one is coming towards me, driving 60 mph in a straight stretch and wham the auto emergency brakes slam on again! Hard brake from 60-0 mph. AEB lights flashing and dinging, locking seat belts and whiplashing your head forward as you screech to an uncontrolled stop. I had absolutely no control over my brakes or gas! This time I’m livid bc my children were in the car with me! Thank goodness everyone was properly wearing seatbelts and in car seats, and I had both hands on the steering wheel, and it was not on a bend in the road because this could have been very dangerous and not ended well! This is NOT ok and there is nothing at all that blocked a sensor or would have had any reason to cause the Jeep to engage this feature. I should not have to be afraid to drive my Jeep and now it’s literally terrifying to drive it bc you never know if it’s going to happen. It needs addressed and fixed ASAP and all Jeep owners should be made aware of this very dangerous situation!

The Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic Emergency Braking have not worked properly for over a year. Sometimes I get a message that the AEB/ACC is not working and to see the Dealer other times i have a light lit showing it is not working. On some occasions there are no signs of it not working but ate ACC works like the regular cruise control and does not slow the car down unless you apply the brake. The car has been to the dealer 2 pervious times with no long term fix it is now there again out of warrantee waiting to be fixed. last time was 05/06/24

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the forward warning collision light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that a system reset was needed following an over the air software update. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance instead advising the the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer. The failure mileage was 41,000.
Electrical system, Forward collision avoidance, Nov 30, 2024
My Jeep, when using adaptive cruise control, will occasionally apply emergency breaking when a vehicle passes alongside me in an adjacent lane in the same direction of travel. I’ve had other cars directly behind me when this happens and it appears to other drivers like I’m “break checking” them. Usually it’s triggered when the passing adjacent vehicle is a tractor trailer or a truck pulling a trailer. Furthermore, the actual early warning forward crash detection does not work at all. I have no warning lights alerting me of a malfunction.
Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Sep 27, 2024
Driving down a road at 50mph during daylight hours. It was sprinkling and vehicle was in electric mode. There were no cars in front of me, or behind me at the time. While my foot was on the accelerator, there was a loss of power then collision warning engaged out of nowhere with the audible beeps, flashing on the instrument cluster, and sharp braking. The incident was brief, but certainly a safety hazard as there were no indications the automated emergency braking was going to occur.
Forward collision avoidance, Aug 26, 2024
While traveling/driving with the ADAS on, the brakes slam on detecting a front end impact. The dash board disappears and the word BRAKE in all red capital lettering with a very loud beeping coming through the speakers happens. The first time it happened was in Oct of 2023 and has happened every time I travel using the ADAS. I have made an appt every time I’ve gotten back to town after traveling to have it looked at. #1 I’ve been told they can’t find a problem with it, #2 It’s been recalibrated 3 times and the service manager even asked for my permission to take my vehicle to his personal home for the weekend so that he could follow the FCA guidelines after it was recalibrated because it had to sit for a time period before it was drove. My Jeep App can show the history of its location. While traveling home the weekend of April 26, 2024 the brakes slammed on 3 times simultaneously causing all traffic behind me to lock up their brakes. Had I gotten hit I would’ve become a human pin ball across 3 lanes of Interstate 80/90. When I pulled off on the side of road so did the vehicle who almost hit me, I was so shook up I was in tears #3 I got told to not use the feature since I knew there was a problem, #4 I asked if there was something they could install to record what’s going on #5 they finally installed an “In flight recording module” the time before I drove home but upon return saying it recorded information but that they don’t know the reason why it’s doing it or how to fix it. I’ve never received a single invoice from the dealership when I’ve taken it in for this EVER!!!! I’ve only been told they have “Star cases” on it and that is enough to prove its a “buy back or lemon”, the last message I received from a Service Rep at the dealership was from Jul 25, 2024 about seeking a buy back. I sent a message today (Aug 25, 2024) asking for a plan or solution to this problem. I’ve heard nothing yet again from anyone!!!!!! I’m beyond frustrated!!!!!!!!!

A service was scheduled to repair the rear view camera visibility in which the dealership failed to complete. The recall repair performed did not fix the situation. The rear view camera still shows up as a blue screen as well as the parksense sensors not working at all. This is a huge safety issue as nothing is shown when backing up and no sensors work. This problem occurred randomly while starting the vehicle and has not worked since then.
Forward collision avoidance, Jul 6, 2024
While passing through an intersection the AEB brought the vehicle to a full stop despite no forward traffic or obstructions. Warning system lights lights for other systems (traction control, airbags, etc.) lit up in the dash. A vehicle traveling behind nearly collided in light of the unwarranted braking. After coming to a complete stop the vehicle released the brake on its own and shut off the other system warning lights. Normal operation ensued.
Forward collision avoidance, May 25, 2024
While making a protected left turn at a traffic control signal, with oncoming traffic also turning left at the same time, the automatic emergency braking engaged. I was unable to override the AEB, and the vehicle came to a sudden, complete stop halfway through the turn. The vehicle behind almost impacted my vehicle due to the erroneous braking.
Electrical system, Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Apr 24, 2024
Today was the second time the AEB engaged while I was driving with no apparent reason. The first was in Nov 2023 while driving on the interstate at about 70 mph. The AEB engaged, slamming the car to an almost stop, alarm blared for a moment and then the car continued operating with no apparent codes or warning lights. Today it did it again while traveling about 30 mph. I was slowing down to turn into a drive. I was still headed straight with no cars around and the AEB engaged, slamming the car to a full stop, with the alarm and the dash flashing something in red. The car then drove off fine with no warning lights or indicators on the dash. I cannot reproduce the AEB reponse. In response to the first occurrence, the dealer “flashed” the software last year. I intend to take it in tomorrow for the reoccurrence. I believe it to be a safety issue not only in that my back hurts terribly from the whiplash of a stop as sudden as hitting a wall, but because had there been a car behind me on either occasion, it is almost certain they would have had to make a dramatic and dangerous swerve to avoid it or rear ended me.

ON [XXX], at [XXX], i was driving the vehicle in electric Save mode, where the temperature was around -19 degree on that day and i was heading for car wash, During that time, the vehicle in front of me applied a break. i was at safe distance i applied the break as the distance was close Even the anti-breaking system did not work on hitting the vehicle at that time, and then it bumped three times. I was in shock at the vehicle's behavior and lost confidence in it. So the police office impounded the vehicle. to make the road safe. None of the air bags were deployed. Forward collision avoidance, Feb 12, 2024
While driving on the highway with the adaptive cruise control set to 77mph, the forward collision alert went off and tapped the brakes while passing a vehicle towing a trailer in the lane to the right. looking back at video on my dash cam, there was nothing in the road that should have set off the warning and the other vehicle was within their lane the entire time. I have had several false warnings in the past but this was the first time it applied the brakes.
Vehicle speed control, Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Sep 29, 2023
While I was driving with my family on a highway, I deployed the drive assist function that controls the speed of the car and keeps car in lane, out of a sudden the car itself deployed a sudden quick brake without any immenant risk in fron of me ( there was no car in front of my car for at least more than half a mile) this caused a very close threat from being hit by the cars behind me amd all of my family members to be scared and worried and even my wife blamed me for slamming the brakes without any reason. I have scheduled an appointment with the dealer in the coming weeks to have it looked at and fix a recent recall as well as look into another weird noise/sounds that I was complaining to the dealer about in the past but was unable to fix or replicate

My car just put on the emergency brakes/forward collision warning while I was driving down the road out of nowhere and slammed on the brakes.
Other or unspecified, Forward collision avoidance, Sep 4, 2023, crash
I was turning at an intersection when I got rear-ended. I do not recall the car stopping right before I got hit, but there is video that shows the my jeep stopped suddenly during the intersection right before I was rear-ended. It appears the oncoming car turning the opposite way got too close causing my automatic braking system to immediately stop my car while I was driving. There is no other explanation as to why the jeep just suddenly stopped as I know I did not press on the brakes myself.

I was turning at a intersection, there was no car in-front only on the side , as I was turning , my jeep suddenly made an emergency beeping sound and break as if I was goin to crash into a car or something. Clearly I was just turning . The break was so hard I even thought I had gotten hit in the back or I had hit something in the front ! The car behind me had to stop and act fast as well otherwise I would have really been hit by him/her. I called my dealer since I had just bought my car 2weeks ago. I have a appt to get it look at , they told me it might be my sensor being dirty or something but I feel like this is a concern jeep should take care of. Or it will really cause an accident I don’t feel safe driving my jeep at all now! Especially doing turns or just thinking it might breaking when I am driving much faster next time. I’m taking my jeep to my dealer service dept. picture below are evidence of appts , and having to get a rental because of my report.

Vehicle speed control, Lane departure, Forward collision avoidance, May 16, 2023
My vehicle has a faulty front camera system that began at around 1800 miles. When driving, multiple lights will illuminate on the dash. The cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep system, and emergency automatic brakes will shut off. It has been in the shop off and on since May 13,2022. Dealership has been replaced multiple parts, but is unable to get camera system to recalibrate and function properly. Car manufacturer, Jeep, has gotten involved and can not seem to figure out what is wrong either.
