This complaint involves a violation of safety recall obligations for Jeep Recall 68C (NHTSA Campaign 25V741000) concerning a high-voltage hybrid battery fire hazard. On Friday, May 29, 2026, the vehicle was brought to Carman Chrysler Jeep Dodge (New Castle, DE) for mandatory recall testing. The vehicle failed the manufacturer's diagnostic analysis due to a critical internal cell separator defect. Because of the immediate thermal and fire risk, the dealership service department immediately grounded the vehicle on-site, stating it is completely unsafe to drive or park near structures. Stellantis/FCA has failed to provide a timely remedy or replacement parts, leaving our vehicle stranded on a commercial lot. Furthermore, the manufacturer has refused to provide direct-billed alternative transportation, offering only an out-of-pocket rental reimbursement model. Because parts are delayed for several months, bankrolling thousands of dollars upfront for a rental vehicle is a massive financial burden that is completely unfeasible for our family. The dealership has also failed to provide physical or digital copies of the failed diagnostic paperwork or Repair Order. We are currently left with a grounded vehicle and no viable, safe transportation.

After a few minutes. The vehicle will cut off again. All of this happened out of nowhere.I I was driving perfectly with no issues the day before
Fuel/propulsion system, May 1, 2026
1st incident: I pulled out from [XXX] onto [XXX] . As I was accelerating to reach the speed limit the gas pedal became unresponsive around 30-40 mph losing all propulsion. I pushed the gas pedal to the floor and it still did not accelerate, slowing the vehicle down with highway traffic approaching from behind. After 5-10 seconds the pedal suddenly became responsive and the car began to accelerate at a bit of a slower rate than typical for the first few seconds then accelerated as it should. 2nd incident: I was turning from [XXX] , into the driveway at my place of employment. The drive way is on an incline and halfway up the incline the gas pedal again became unresponsive. Due to the incline the vehicle did not continue to coast forward and quickly lost speed at which point I hit the brakes to avoid possibly rolling back into the highway traffic. I then tried the gas pedal again and the vehicle accelerated. This could become extremely dangerous if it were to occur during merging onto a busy highway with traffic moving at high speed, as just one example. The two incidents happened about a month apart. The dealership was not able to replicate the issue as it is a very random occurrence with no warning of when it will happen. No warning lights became visible on the dash. Through a quick google search it became apparent this is a known issue, with several possible quick fixes, which I relayed to the dealership when I took the vehicle in for them to fix it. It was not replicated on their test drive and no codes were showing so I was told they couldn’t do anything unless a code would pop up or they were able to replicate the issue, which is very unlikely to happen during a quick test drive. The dealership stated it has performed all recalls to date. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Electrical system, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Apr 8, 2026
The vehicle experienced a hybrid system/charging failure documented by the servicing dealership as “service hybrid system message and vehicle will not charge.” The vehicle also had battery-related failure requiring a jump and repeated service visits. This caused loss of use and raised reliability and safety concerns.

Vehicle recently had recall 68c completed. Was driving in electric mode on the highway at approximately 55mph. Upon pressing accelerator further to increase speed to pass another vehicle, I lost all electric power and the vehicle lost speed down to 40mph, despite accelerator pedal being pressed to the floor. Approx 3-5 seconds later, gas engine started, revved high, vehicle lunged forward to 65mph, continued to accelerate after releasing accelerator pedal, and was able to be slowed by pressing brake. This same situation was replicated 9 hours later on the same highway. Dealer claims this is "normal operation."
Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 16, 2026
Was driving on a crowded interstate highway that runs through Denver when my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe suddenly turned off. Luckily, there were no cars in the adjacent lane and I had enough forward momentum to get across that lane and onto the shoulder of the road. There were no warning lights or alarm sounds, the engine just turned off. After reaching the shoulder, I restarted the car and could drive it to a dealership. It is currently at the Jeep dealership undergoing diagnostics. This was an unbelievably dangerous event that could have resulted in a multiple car pile up with injuries or deaths (most likely mine or my wife’s) since we were in such heavy traffic at a speed of about 70 mph. We are the sole owners of the vehicle and have kept up to date on all recalls of which there have been several. We had one recall outstanding which was due to be addressed in a few days which dealt with a potential battery fire. Not sure how that would relate to this event. We have not had any similar event with this car in the roughly 28000 miles we’ve driven it. If the car needs to be inspected, that would be fine. I’d hate to have this happen to anyone else.

The vehicle has abruptly lost power and shut down while driving. This has happened while pulling out to cross traffic at intersections which have nearly caused an accident from the vehicle abruptly losing power in the middle of the intersection. The emergency braking system has also activated without any obstructions in front of the vehicle resulting in vehicles behind me nearly hitting me. The vehicle's four wheel drive system has also been inoperable with no parts available from Jeep to remedy this specific issue.

My vehicle is subject to active recall 68C involving high-voltage battery fire risk in Jeep 4xe vehicles. Manufacturer has confirmed recall applies to this vehicle, but no remedy is currently available. I have been instructed to limit charging and parking due to risk of thermal event/fire. This creates an ongoing safety risk to myself, family, my home, nearby properties and others. My vehicle remains in use without a permanent fix.
Power train, Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Dec 31, 2025
The vehicle has experienced recurring safety-related issues associated with the hybrid electrical and propulsion systems. During normal operation, warning messages related to the hybrid system appeared, and the vehicle entered reduced functionality or became unreliable to operate. These conditions created concern about potential loss of propulsion while driving. In addition to propulsion concerns, the vehicle was subject to manufacturer recalls related to the high-voltage battery system, including warnings regarding battery overheating and potential fire risk. Recall-related service was performed by an authorized dealer; however, safety concerns persisted after service was completed, and confidence in the safe operation of the vehicle was not restored. The ongoing nature of the electrical and hybrid system issues, combined with recall notices involving battery fire risk, created a safety concern for continued use of the vehicle, particularly due to the possibility of vehicle malfunction or battery-related hazards during normal operation or while parked. No crash or injury occurred, but the condition raised ongoing safety concerns. The issue has occurred more than once and was not permanently resolved despite dealer inspection and recall-related service.

How many recalls does one vehicle get in 2 years of ownership get before they take car back? This is the absolute worst vehicle I have ever owned at $64,100 price tag. We went through this battery recall last year at this time and could not use hybrid system for 5 months and had to park outside until recall was performed and god forbid you take grandkids anywhere in it, and with all the countless other problems that are so speratic they cannot fix.Recall number 95B, when weather was finally warm enough for them to perform the diagnostics on it, it was deemed okay. Now I get another recall for same thing and once again it is a fire hazard again and no fix is available according to recall info. So people are suppose to drive around in a $64,100 vehicle that could go on fire and cannot park in garage or use hybrid system for its intended use. Tonight s weather is suppose to be -10 degrees F in Iowa and we keep having problems with the heater blowing cold air and have taken it to dealership for total of 10 days trying to figure this problem out with no resolve yet. When does someone finally say is enough is enough? They have had my Jeep in their dealership 34 days total not counting recalls trying to resolve why the power steering goes out and all safety devices are offline and nnobody can resolve these issues so it is a total crap shoot every time you start it up! The fire hazard thing really bothers me being a past fireman and nobody seems to care, just park your car away from flammable material and structure, are you kidding me! What happens when you have kids and grandkids in this car? Somebody ha to help us! Internet is flooded with these problems with Jeep 4XE. Please help us out of this situation because Stellantis and dealerships do not care! I was driving home from work and all of a sudden I am pushing the gas pedal down but unable to go faster. I lost complete power. The car was in gas mode at the time of incident. This vehicle is subject to Safety Recall 68C for battery fire risk. The manufacturer issued a directive to park outside away from structures and do not charge the vehicle due to extreme fire risk. Despite having an open case with Jeep, there have been three failed supervisor callbacks with no resolution provided. The remedy is not yet available. The owner refuses to drive this vehicle and refuses to allow his wife to drive it due to serious safety concerns. If the car catches fire while she is driving, there is fear she will not have enough time to protect herself. This is an extremely scary and dangerous situation for the family. Additionally, the owner fears the house could catch fire while sleeping because of this vehicle parked nearby, even following the manufacturer's parking directive. This recall creates an impossible hardship - the vehicle cannot be safely driven or charged, yet no buyback or replacement has been offered. The vehicle was recently purchased in December 2024 and now sits unusable at 39,000 miles due to this unresolved safety defect. The manufacturer has failed to provide a timely remedy despite multiple contact attempts. A full vehicle buyback or replacement with a non-affected model is the only acceptable resolution to this extreme safety risk.

The Hybrid System had a failure - flashed on the screen - and then shut off/ could not use acceleration pedal. This notification had appeared twice before, taken to the dealer, and told it was just a glitch. My wife was on the interstate when she lost he ability to accelerate. We had it towed to the original dealership of purchase. The Jeep is sitting at the dealership now.

Steering, Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 26, 2025
The electrical system of this vehicle is causing several issues putting the safety of me, my passengers and drivers around me at risk. Starting at 6,300 miles the vehicle had a temporary loss of power steering. After parking for a day the power steering returned, leading me to believe it was caused by an electrical/software code issue. There was a safety recall for the battery pack starting on fire while parked, driving or charging. No fix was available for quite a while and I could not charge the car or park in the garage. Shortly after having the computer updated to stop it from spontaneously catching fire I have been getting a warning light saying to maintenance the hybrid system, and is accompanied with a momentary loss of propulsion. This happens without warning every 150 miles or so. The dealership said it had a ‘digital crash’ code and was not able to reproduce, but I have video evidence of the warning lamp coming on and then clearing itself. There is now a safety recall issued for this exact problem with no fix available at this time. There are no warning lamps in advance of these issues occurring, only concurrent to the issue happening. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Past experience tells me I could lose propulsion and/or steering at any time. I need to drive to work, it is unrealistic to not drive my vehicle until a resolution is found for the current round of safety recalls. I am afraid this vehicle is going to kill someone.
Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 23, 2025
While driving 65-70mph on the Interstate, my car seemed to have lost power. When I looked at the dash, a red wrench was displayed with a message to have the hybrid electrical system serviced. I pressed down on the accelerator, nothing happened. I immediately started to move into the right lanes since traffic was moving fast. I didn’t want to get hit or cause an accident. By the time I coasted into the far right lane my car seemed to have recovered and reacted appropriately when I pressed on the accelerator. Since this incident, the red wrench and message have flashed on my dashboard at least five more times, but thank goodness I haven’t lost power again. I am taking it into the dealer for inspection. It has not been inspected by anyone yet, but I am afraid to drive it.
Electrical system, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 19, 2025
The vehicle experienced repeated propulsion loss and powertrain malfunction while driving, creating a serious safety risk. This defect has now been formally acknowledged by FCA/Stellantis through NHTSA Recall 25V576 (filed on September 4, 2025). Prior to the recall, I raised these safety concerns through the NCDS arbitration program, but my case was closed despite documentation of the defect. The arbitration program stated the matter was “resolved,” even though I had rejected the arbitrator’s decision and the case was procedurally closed without binding resolution. After the recall was issued, I requested that my case be reopened under NCDS Rule 20, which allows refiling when new or material evidence is presented. That request was denied, leaving me without a remedy despite the existence of an active recall for the exact defect I had reported. The safety issue remains ongoing. The vehicle has lost propulsion multiple times while in motion, creating risk of collision. Warning messages have appeared on the dashboard prior to failure, and the issue has been reproduced at service centers. This matter highlights both the safety hazard of the defect itself and a procedural concern: consumers may be denied meaningful remedies even after safety recalls are issued.

Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 14, 2025, crash
I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, which experienced a serious mechanical failure on [XXX], at approximately [XXX] CDT in Detroit Lakes, MN. While exiting a ZIPS Car Wash at low speed, my vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of power and/or propulsion. I believe the engine shut down without warning, and the vehicle would not respond to throttle input or move forward. I attempted to restart the vehicle, but it remained unresponsive for several seconds. During this time, another vehicle behind me was unable to stop in time and rear-ended my Jeep, causing damage to the rear of the vehicle and my vehicle. This incident appears consistent with two known recalls affecting this model: • NHTSA Recall 25V576 (September 2025) – Hybrid control software defect causing unexpected engine shutdown and loss of propulsion • NHTSA Recall 23V503 (June 2023) – Engine shutdown and loss of drive power due to internal control module failure Required info: • Component/System Failed: Engine and/or propulsion system. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. • Safety Risk: The sudden loss of propulsion left me stalled when exiting the car wash with no ability to move, directly leading to a rear-end collision. My safety and the safety of the driver behind me were put at risk due to the unexpected failure. • Reproduction of Problem: The issue has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, but it aligns with known recall conditions. • Inspection Status: The vehicle has not yet been inspected by Jeep or insurance representatives, but I am initiating claims and service requests immediately. A police officer was present but it was on private property and no report was created. I have the officers card and number for follow up as needed. • Warning Lamps or Symptoms: Unknown INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
