My vehicle is subject to three safety recalls: 78C / NHTSA 25V‑766 (Engine Fire Risk) 68C / NHTSA 25V‑741 (High Voltage Battery Defect) NHTSA 25V‑576 (Battery Pack Control Module microprocessor overload) Because of the fire risk, I was unable to park in my driveway for approximately two months, resulting in loss of use. During this same period, the vehicle could not be charged, eliminating the hybrid functionality and forcing me to rely solely on gasoline. After recall remedies were performed, the vehicle’s performance and safety degraded significantly: Electrical / Hybrid System Failures: Hybrid battery capacity reduced Vehicle no longer charges itself while driving Air conditioning output reduced Engine idles excessively high 12‑volt battery warning showing “<1%,” creating risk of no‑start and electrical instability Electronic doors fail to lock/unlock reliably Hatchback foot‑activation sensor works intermittently Radio has remained on after vehicle shutdown Windshield wipers do not respond to rain sensor, causing dangerous visibility delays Display / Camera Failures: Display screen randomly changes or freezes Screen turned completely off when shifting into reverse, eliminating the backup camera view Transmission / Drivability Issues: Loud, jerky downshifting Delay engaging when shifting into drive These issues are ongoing and affect multiple safety‑critical systems including propulsion, electrical stability, visibility, and rear‑view camera functionality. The vehicle does not meet the expected performance of the Overland Hybrid 4xe and is unreliable and unsafe to operate. I am requesting NHTSA review due to repeated electrical failures, hybrid system malfunction, loss of use, and safety‑critical defects following recall remedies.

While travelling on [XXX] in [XXX], and exiting on to I-80 [XXX] the vehicle failed to accelerate past 60mph almost causing a major accident during high traffic. The vehicle failed to respond above 60 in Hybrid and E-Save mode and I had to exit immediately. This incident is following 12 recalls with the vehicle (2024 Jeep GC Plug-in Hybrid 4xe). The vehicle is currently at Salt Lake Valley under major engine repair and a claim was submitted to Jeep Customer Care. No warning messages occurred at the time of the incident. I have not been told what actually happened or the reason for the failure from Salt Lake Valley Jeep. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while test driving at an undisclosed speed, an unknown warning light flashed on the instrument panel. The dealer informed the contact that the battery was low and that the light had been replaced, while also informing the contact that the vehicle had experienced difficulty starting prior to purchase. Days later, upon starting the vehicle, all warning lights illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure, cleared the codes, and returned the vehicle; however, the failure recurred. While driving, the steering wheel became inoperable, causing the driver to lose steering control, and the vehicle crashed into a Ford Mustang. A red steering warning light illuminated. A police report was filed. There were no reported injuries, airbag deployment, or fire. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, where it was determined that the vehicle was undrivable, could not be inspected in the service bay, required an unknown replacement part, and that the steering wheel computer failed to communicate. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle did not qualify under the lemon law, prompting the contact to report the issue to the Attorney General, who referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
Power train, Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 8, 2026
On August 8, 2026, at approximately 23,959 miles, my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe experienced a significant loss of propulsion while accelerating in Hybrid mode to merge onto a highway. During acceleration, the check engine light began flashing, then remained illuminated, and the vehicle displayed a “Service Hybrid System Required” warning. The vehicle then provided little to no effective motive power despite accelerator input, making it unsafe to continue the highway merge. I was forced to pull off the roadway and stop the vehicle. The vehicle could not be safely driven and required towing to a Jeep dealership. This vehicle has a prior history of hybrid-system-related repairs and recalls. Previous service included high-voltage battery recall work, control module programming, replacement of the electric coolant heater, and replacement of the auxiliary coolant pump and coolant temperature sensor after earlier check-engine-light, EV-mode, and Hybrid-mode drivability complaints. A prior repair order also documented jerking during deceleration and reacceleration while operating in Hybrid mode. The current dealer has been unable to reproduce the loss-of-propulsion event. During diagnosis, one or more vehicle control modules may have been reset or cleared, which may have removed stored diagnostic trouble codes or other event data associated with the failure. I am reporting this because the sudden loss of propulsion occurred during highway entry and created a serious safety concern.

Vehicle is an active fire hazard subject to the high-voltage battery recall (NHTSA 24V-718). The manufacturer's safety instructions require me to stop charging the vehicle and park it away from homes and structures. Because I am currently leasing this vehicle from Chrysler Capital and have no alternate transportation, I am forced to drive an active fire risk for daily transit. The local Jeep dealership has refused to provide a temporary loaner vehicle or rental accommodation while a final remedy is pending. The lack of a timely repair, combined with the refusal of the manufacturer to provide safe, alternative transit, forces me to operate a defective vehicle that poses an immediate safety risk to myself, my family, and the general public.

Not being able to park inside due to potential FIRE, messages of electric mode inoperable, emergency pedestrian ranking, going from park to auto shift it loud/clunky. Infotainment sometimes takes a while to load or recognize apple car play. Main concern would of course be fire potential and not charging it. Which defeats whole purpose of leasing it to see how it does. No other problems except for the ones we all have had with 4Xe models.

06/13/2026: THIRD EPISODE of 2024 Jeep GC Summit (Top of Line) Battery being COMPLETELY DEAD after 3-4 days of no driving. I bought my Jeep in 12/2025!? Another issue that others report is the DIFFICULTY of 'jumping' the battery/engine to give a start. We tried multiple times on the evening of 06/13 to no avail. On Sunday, 06/14, we REVVED the jumper engine to ....7000 or 8000 rpms (on the tachometer) before getting enough power to successfully jump the Jeep. THIS New Vehicle "Dead Electric" is very scary on how it could strand us!!

I was sold a defective 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. Both the batter and engine can catch fire while parked and is not recommended to be parked near other cars or any structures. The dealership told me that the recalls were not on my vehicle at the time of purchase per Stellantis (November 7, 2025) which in fact they were. They said my car was not protected under Lemon Law which it is. And a number of other misinformation. I bought the car for around $35,000 and in 6 months the value depreciated to $20,000 per the sales manager Michael Morris. They claimed to have no access to this purchase in their database.

This vehicle has experienced repeated mechanical and electronic failures since delivery, including hybrid drivetrain faults, heating system malfunctions, and multiple diagnostic repair attempts. The vehicle is also subject to active Safety Recall 78C, which identifies a manufacturing defect that may cause catastrophic engine failure and vehicle fire risk. The manufacturer has acknowledged that a repair remedy is currently unavailable. The dealership that sold and serviced the vehicle has also recently ceased operations following acquisition by Carvana. These conditions materially impair the vehicle’s safety, reliability, and usability.

I have a 2024 JEEP 4xe. I received a notice not to charge the car or park indoors as it a potential fire hazard. The car has been in the shop over ten times These services included water pump, new antennas as the car would not start, two new keys, low tire pressure light won’t go off, radio malfunction, body shop as door from factory was not installed properly, car stopped on middle of road and died, rented a car from Enterprise Leasing received message to return asap as it could cause a fire. Car only has 15323 miles on it. Keep getting the run around from Stellantis. Please help.

Vehicle battery(s) consistently fail. Batteries have already been replaced once but they persist to fail especially if the vehicle sits for 1-2 days. This causes the vehicle to either not start at all, or starts, but then fails when you attempt to restart, once at your destination, leaving you stranded. No warnings. This was reported to the dealer when it originally occurred. Apparently there is a wide spread issue with this year vehicle due to a parasitic drain on the batteries from the vehicles electronics. Original issue was 01/01/2026 and again on 04/09/2026.

Hello, I am reaching out regarding a serious safety issue involving my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe under an active recall (78C), which Stellantis has acknowledged can cause an engine fire or sudden loss of vehicle function. Despite the severity of this recall, there is currently no remedy available. I have contacted Stellantis corporate multiple times and have been met with consistently poor customer service, including being told I am not allowed to open another case because my issue is “irrelevant” due to it involving a recall. I am leasing a vehicle that is not safe to drive, with a known fire risk and no repair solution. I have formally requested that Stellantis buy back the vehicle without penalty given the safety risk and inability to use the vehicle as intended. They have refused to accept the vehicle back or offer any meaningful resolution. This raises serious concerns about consumer safety and corporate accountability—particularly when a manufacturer acknowledges a defect but refuses to take responsibility for removing unsafe vehicles from the road.

NHTSA Complaint Draft I am filing a follow-up complaint regarding Recall 78C on my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. This recall involves risk of catastrophic engine failure, loss of propulsion, and potential fire. It has now been approximately 5 months since the recall was issued, and there is still no remedy available. I have completed all other recalls that had remedies and have fully complied with all manufacturer instructions. Due to the safety concerns and lack of a remedy, I was instructed by Stellantis to obtain a rental vehicle when a loaner was not provided. I incurred out-of-pocket rental expenses based on this guidance. However, despite multiple follow-up emails, Stellantis has failed to provide any reimbursement process, timeline, or response regarding these expenses. Additionally, I have received conflicting and unclear guidance regarding safe operation of the vehicle, including whether it can be driven or charged. This has significantly impacted my ability to safely use the vehicle for its intended purpose. At this point, I have made multiple documented attempts to resolve this directly with Stellantis and have received no response. This situation reflects a lack of remedy, lack of communication, and failure to reimburse expenses incurred under manufacturer direction. Immediate action and oversight are needed.

I have had multiple issues with glitches in the electrical system. Specifically relating to the screen. It will shut off on its own, it will switch screens on its own and more recently, completely off. I was unable to get the black screen to turn on for quite a while, I turned the vehicle off multiple times, I also tried a hard reset multiple times for it finally decided to work. At times, the backup camera does not pop onto the screen. My issues are very similar to the recall, jeeps with electrical issues, but mine has not been recalled.

I am filing this complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall (Recall 78C) on my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, which has now been open for approximately 139 days without a remedy. This recall involves engine manufacturing contamination that may lead to catastrophic engine failure, loss of propulsion, and potential fire risk. Despite the seriousness of the recall, Stellantis has failed to provide a remedy and has given conflicting and unclear guidance regarding safe operation. At one point, I was instructed to operate the vehicle using the gasoline engine only. I was later told Stellantis cannot provide technical guidance and to contact the dealership. The dealership has stated they have no clear direction from Stellantis. As a result, I have no clear understanding of whether it is safe to operate the vehicle, use electric mode, or rely solely on the gasoline engine. Restricting use to the gasoline engine also prevents use of the plug-in hybrid system, meaning the vehicle cannot be used for its intended purpose, resulting in increased fuel costs over several months. I have also incurred out-of-pocket rental car expenses during recall service. Stellantis indicated reimbursement would be available but has not provided a process or responded to follow-ups. Given the nature of the recall and lack of guidance, I cannot determine if this vehicle is safe to transport my newborn child. At this point, I am concerned with both the unresolved defect and the manufacturer’s failure to provide consistent safety direction, communication, or a path toward resolution.

I am writing to outline my urgent concerns regarding the 78C recall affecting the 2023–2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and 2024–2025 Wrangler 4xe SUVs. This recall was initiated due to a manufacturing defect where casting sand remains in the 2.0L engine, presenting a risk of catastrophic engine failure, sudden power loss, or fire. The potential for engine fire or unexpected power loss represents a significant safety risk to my family. The possibility of fire, even when the vehicle is parked and not in use, puts my home and neighboring properties in danger. This risk is especially heightened during Colorado’s wildfire season, when any vehicle fire could quickly escalate into a larger disaster. Due to the recall, I am unable to use the vehicle as intended under the terms of my lease agreement. I cannot safely operate or charge the vehicle. Furthermore, the requirement to park the vehicle outside does not eliminate the risk of fire, which continues to threaten my property and those nearby. There is currently no available repair or remedy for this defect. As a result, the vehicle is unusable for an indefinite period of time. Given the unresolved safety hazards, inability to use the vehicle, and lack of a repair solution, I formally request that you initiate a buy back of my affected vehicle. This action is necessary to ensure my family’s safety and to resolve the ongoing hardship caused by this recall.

I am the owner of a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe which is currently subject to two urgent safety recalls: Recall 68C (NHTSA 25V-741) regarding a high-voltage battery fire risk, and Recall 95B (NHTSA 25V-766) regarding engine sand contamination. On March 13, 2026, I attempted to have these recalls addressed at an authorized dealership (Brooksville Jeep). I reported two specific safety symptoms: Abnormal loud engine noise during acceleration and shifting, which is a documented warning sign of catastrophic engine failure under Recall 95B. Significant electric range depletion (a 10% drop from 32 miles to 29 miles), indicating potential battery cell instability under Recall 68C. Despite these reported safety symptoms and the official "Park Outside / Do Not Charge" advisory, the dealership and the manufacturer's recall department refused to provide a loaner or rental vehicle. They instead placed me on a "waitlist" and instructed me to continue driving the vehicle. By refusing to provide a safe, non-defective loaner vehicle while remedies are "under development," the manufacturer is forcing me to operate a vehicle that is a documented fire and stalling hazard. This puts my safety, the safety of my passengers, and my property at risk of a thermal event or a sudden loss of propulsion on public roads

The contact leased a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Lane Departure and cruise control mode unexpectedly deactivated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the infotainment system was reset, and the vehicle was temporarily operated as needed. The failure recurred intermittently while driving, requiring the driver to pull over to the side of the road to reset the infotainment system. Additionally, the contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System); and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, the high voltage battery was not yet available, and the vehicle remained with the dealer for 50 days. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.
