Electrical system, Forward collision avoidance, Jul 11, 2026
Not being able to park inside due to potential FIRE, messages of electric mode inoperable, emergency pedestrian ranking, going from park to auto shift it loud/clunky. Infotainment sometimes takes a while to load or recognize apple car play. Main concern would of course be fire potential and not charging it. Which defeats whole purpose of leasing it to see how it does. No other problems except for the ones we all have had with 4Xe models.

Forward collision avoidance, Jun 14, 2026, crash
On XXX, at approximately 8:45 AM in [XXX], my wife was driving our 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. She was stopped at a red traffic light and, when the light turned green, proceeded to make a normal left turn through the intersection. While approximately halfway through the intersection, the vehicle unexpectedly displayed a forward collision warning ("BRAKE!") and aggressively applied the Automatic Emergency Braking system. The weather was clear and sunny, and there was no apparent vehicle, pedestrian, obstacle, or other hazard in the Jeep's path that would have justified an emergency braking intervention. The unexpected braking caused the Jeep to decelerate abruptly in the middle of the intersection. As a result, a truck traveling behind the Jeep, at an estimated speed of approximately 10 mph, rear-ended the vehicle. A second vehicle then rear-ended the truck, resulting in a multi-vehicle collision. A police report was filed, and my wife was determined not to be at fault for the accident. We are submitting this report because we are concerned that the unexpected activation of the Automatic Emergency Braking system may represent a serious safety issue that could endanger vehicle occupants and other motorists and should be investigated. Lane departure, Forward collision avoidance, Jun 5, 2026
On 11 October 2025, I was driving on the Interstate when an error message appeared in the cluster "Active Lane Management (ALM) Unavailable Service Required". The Lane Assistance turned OFF and could not be turned back ON until vehicle was restarted. I called the dealership and requested an appointment. They stated that unless they could repeat the issue, an appointment would be useless. The ALM error message disappeared on restart of the vehicle. On 02 January 2026, I started the vehicle when an error message appeared in the cluster "Auto Emergency Break (AEB) Limited Functionality Service Required". The Lane Assistance turned OFF but could be turned back ON. The vehicle visited the dealership on 13 February 2026 and the AEB error was repeated numerous times on start by dealership personnel. On Monday, 23 February 2026, vehicle was left at dealership for 10 days. They performed numerous software updates and returned vehicle to me on 05 March 2026. On 09 March 2026, AEB Error message appeared in cluster. Took vehicle immediately to dealership and they refused to take it back in for service. They stated Jeep had no idea how to resolve and I had to wait on a solution. AEB message happened again on 14 March 2026, 31 March 2026, 01 April 2026, 05 May 2026, 08 May 2026, 21 May 2026. On 05 May 2026, the AEB error and ALM error appeared on the same day. I drove the vehicle to the dealership and they retrieved error code U045D. Dealership finally agreed to take vehicle back in for service on Monday, 25 May 2026 which is where is still sitting today, 05 Jun 2026. Initially, dealership stated Jeep had release another software update but then 24 hours later they stated they had ordered a new cluster. The new cluster was cancelled by Jeep so they ordered it again. Dealership stated they are waiting on a new cluster to arrive. I have no idea if AEB system works or not which to me is a major safety issue. Also, how can I trust this vehicle ever again!
Forward collision avoidance, May 11, 2026
On 5/11/26 at approximately 7:40pm, I was driving a leased 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee in [XXX] , turning left at the busy intersection of [XXX] and [XXX] . I was in the outside lane of a double left-turn lane with a green left-turn arrow, while opposing traffic was also moving through the intersection in its own turn movement. In the center of the intersection, the vehicle suddenly activated Forward Collision Warning and then Auto Emergency Braking without warning, even though I was lawfully proceeding through the turn. The vehicle stopped abruptly and forcefully in the middle of the intersection, leaving my car stranded in active traffic. I braced for a rear-end collision, which surprisingly did not occur as there must not have been another car behind me After the sudden stop, I was unable to shift the vehicle back into Drive for several seconds. By the time I was able to move the car again, the light had turned red and other lanes of traffic were beginning to proceed. This created an immediate risk of a serious collision from cross traffic or vehicles approaching from behind. The force of the unexpected stop was strong enough to cause neck pain. By chance, no other vehicle struck my car, but this was a near-miss event with clear potential for severe injury or death. I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle. In addition, this vehicle has had multiple recalls and other issues, which heightens my concern that this may be part of a broader safety defect involving the Forward Collision Warning, Auto Emergency Braking, or related electronic control systems. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee can falsely detect a collision risk during a lawful left turn and improperly engage automatic braking or otherwise prevent the driver from promptly returning the vehicle to Drive. Relevant documentation can be provided, including VIN, mileage, service records, recall history, and any dealer inspection results INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Lane departure, Forward collision avoidance, May 7, 2026
The Active Lane Management (ALM) and Auto Emergency Braking (AEB) systems on this 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe fail repeatedly while the vehicle is in motion at highway speeds. The defect began at 384 miles. The ALM system will silently disable itself, and the AEB system forces the vehicle to display an 'AEB Limited Functionality Service Required' warning. Following six distinct repair attempts, the authorized servicing dealer (Eide Chrysler) stated in writing via text message on March 5, 2026, that this is a 'known issue' and that FCA engineering currently has 'no fix' available. The manufacturer has attempted to dismiss the ongoing hardware failure as a resolved hybrid battery software recall, but the collision avoidance systems remain actively defective. Because the steering overcorrection and sudden loss of emergency braking present an immediate crash risk, the vehicle is unsafe to operate.
Back over prevention, Forward collision avoidance, Mar 9, 2026
While reversing on a snowy day the wheels proceeded to spin when the reverse sensors activated the brake system which resulted in damage to the rotor and breaks in the brake caliper resulting in tire failure and then suspension damage.

The contact leased a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Lane Departure and cruise control mode unexpectedly deactivated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the infotainment system was reset, and the vehicle was temporarily operated as needed. The failure recurred intermittently while driving, requiring the driver to pull over to the side of the road to reset the infotainment system. Additionally, the contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System); and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, the high voltage battery was not yet available, and the vehicle remained with the dealer for 50 days. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

This complaint is being filed as an update to prior NHTSA complaints regarding the same vehicle and Recall 78C. The issues described below remain unresolved. My vehicle is subject to Recall 78C, which warns of a defect that may result in catastrophic engine failure due to an engine block casting issue. The recall was issued approximately 90 days ago, and the status remains listed as “remedy under development,” with no repair available and no timeline provided. Since the recall was issued, I have contacted Stellantis three separate times in writing requesting: confirmation whether the vehicle is considered safe to operate while the recall remains open, and transportation accommodation while no remedy exists. None of these emails have received a response. I also contacted two authorized Jeep dealerships seeking transportation assistance. Both initially stated they do not provide loaner vehicles and are not required to follow corporate directives. Both later stated loaner vehicles do exist but were unavailable and subject to a waitlist; however, neither dealership took my information or placed me on a waitlist, nor provided any follow-up. No meaningful transportation accommodation has been provided. I have been advised only that rental reimbursement may be available, which does not prevent continued operation of the vehicle. As a result, I am being forced to continue driving a vehicle under an active safety recall that explicitly warns of possible catastrophic engine failure, without a remedy, without a timeline, and without alternative transportation. This complaint is submitted to document the prolonged lack of a remedy, manufacturer non-response to repeated safety inquiries, failure to provide interim accommodation, and continued requirement that I operate the recalled vehicle.
Engine, Forward collision avoidance, Jan 9, 2026
Multiple critical safety defects since January 2024 purchase: TRANSMISSION: Sudden transmission failures with complete loss of power while driving requiring emergency repairs. BATTERY SYSTEM: 4xe hybrid battery system failed multiple times, vehicle inoperable. SIX UNREPAIRED SAFETY RECALLS including URGENT FIRE RISK (NHTSA 25V141000). COMPUTER SYSTEM: Repeated crashes affecting dashboard warning systems and vehicle controls while driving. ENGINE: Multiple performance failures causing unsafe loss of power. OUT OF SERVICE: Over 30 days total for warranty repairs. Problems persist after multiple dealer repair attempts. DEALER/MANUFACTURER: Stellantis refuses adequate remedy despite clear defects. Vehicle poses serious ongoing safety risk. Request investigation for recall expansion beyond current 6 unrepaired recalls.
Electrical system, Engine, Forward collision avoidance, Jan 2, 2026
I am reporting unresolved safety issues involving multiple open recalls on my Jeep vehicle, including a high-voltage battery recall and an engine recall with no available remedy. Jeep has advised owners not to recharge the vehicle and to park away from structures or other vehicles due to fire risk, yet also states that owners may continue driving the vehicle. However, the vehicle automatically regenerates battery charge during normal driving even when regenerative braking is turned off. This behavior was not explained in the recall notice and creates confusion about how to safely operate the vehicle while complying with the “do not recharge” guidance. I am also experiencing intermittent Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) warning alerts, which raises additional safety concerns while driving under recall conditions. Another open recall related to the engine currently has no available remedy and has been unresolved for an extended period of time. Despite the safety nature of these recalls, Jeep has declined to provide a loaner vehicle. Jeep Customer Care states loaners are at dealership discretion, while dealerships state they have not received authorization from Jeep. Jeep has instead directed me to an out-of-pocket rental reimbursement program that requires the customer to front rental costs for an unknown duration, which is not financially feasible. I am concerned about being instructed to continue operating a vehicle with known safety risks, conflicting guidance, warning alerts, and no reasonable accommodation while remedies remain unavailable.

To Whom It May Concern, My name is [XXX] . I am a Florida resident and the lessee of a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, VIN [XXX] . Due to repeated and serious mechanical and electrical failures involving the hybrid system, I have already retained legal representation. My Lemon Law case is currently being handled by: CPLG – Consumer Protection Law Group Despite this, the situation continues to worsen and the process has become unreasonably prolonged. Major components, including the hybrid battery, have already been replaced. Nevertheless, the vehicle continues to experience recurring failures. Importantly, the vehicle previously remained at a Florida dealership for approximately eight (8) months for repairs, and the issues still were not permanently resolved. At this time, the vehicle is once again in service at a dealership in Hendersonville, North Carolina. I have now been waiting for the third consecutive week with no clear timeline for parts availability or when the vehicle will be returned to me. As a result, I am forced to rely on rental vehicles on an ongoing basis, which requires changing vehicles every Friday. This is extremely inconvenient and disruptive for me and my family. With the holiday season approaching, the uncertainty regarding when (or if) my vehicle will be repaired and returned has significantly increased my stress and anxiety. This situation has gone far beyond normal inconvenience. It is now causing ongoing emotional distress and has negatively affected my mental well-being and daily functioning. Although a Lemon Law case is already in progress through CPLG, the continued delays leave me no choice but to submit parallel consumer complaints in order to seek expedited review and resolution. I am formally requesting immediate review and intervention under Florida Consumer Protection statutes and applicable Florida Lemon Law provisions. Electrical system, Engine, Forward collision avoidance, Dec 14, 2025
This is a follow-up to my previous complaint. My 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee continues to show safety-related system failures that have not been addressed by the dealership or Stellantis. The main new issue is a malfunction in the regenerative charging system. I have this feature turned OFF, yet the vehicle continues to engage regenerative charging while driving. This indicates a failure in the system’s control logic. I am also experiencing intermittent AEB system warnings. The AEB warning light activates randomly during normal driving with no obstacles present, creating uncertainty about whether the system will operate properly when needed. I reported these new issues to the dealership, but they stated they cannot schedule service until after Christmas and cannot provide a loaner vehicle. Stellantis has also not offered a solution. I am forced to continue driving a vehicle with malfunctioning safety and braking-related systems. This is an unresolved and escalating safety defect that requires investigation and immediate manufacturer action.

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a stopped vehicle, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking system failed to engage, and the driver needed to depress the brake pedal at the last minute to stop the vehicle. The contact performed a test of the automatic emergency braking system. The contact stated that while two individuals were holding a beige sheet, the contact drove towards the sheet at 70 MPH, and the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking system failed to engage while the vehicle was near the sheet, and the vehicle struck the sheet. The contact then drove towards the sheet at 6 MPH and struck the sheet, then the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking beeping sound engaged. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact provided the recording of the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking system failure to engage as needed; however, the contact was informed that no failure was found. The Service Director at the dealer informed the contact that the engineers for the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was functioning as designed. The manufacturer called the contact and offered monetary compensation to keep the vehicle; however, the contact declined the compensation and requested a trade or buy back assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer offered to trade the vehicle for a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact test drove the vehicle with a staff member from the dealer inside the vehicle, and the vehicle experienced the same failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200.
Forward collision avoidance, Dec 7, 2025
My 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (VIN: [XXX] ) has experienced repeated safety-related failures. With only 3,169 miles, the vehicle became inoperable shortly after purchase and remained at a Florida dealership for 9 months waiting for parts. The hybrid battery and related components were replaced. After picking up the vehicle, while driving from Florida to North Carolina on [XXX], the Check Engine light came back on. A cooling system failure was diagnosed, which caused critical safety systems to stop functioning: the forward collision warning sensor, radar, and driver-assistance features all became disabled. A technician also discovered that a component requiring nine bolts was fastened with only two, indicating improper repair or assembly and creating a serious safety hazard. I brought the vehicle to AutoStar CDJR in Hendersonville, NC, where additional issues were documented: rattling/thumping noise under the vehicle at highway speeds, wind noise entering through the front windshield, and the Check Engine light still on. The advisor noted in writing that the vehicle had been in the Florida dealership for nine months and now shows new faults. As of December 7, 2025, the vehicle is again in the repair shop. I no longer feel safe driving it. The repeated failures of the hybrid/electrical system, cooling system, and critical safety sensors, along with evidence of improper assembly, represent a significant safety risk. I request that NHTSA investigate these defects, as they appear to indicate a broader safety issue with this model. I have been having this error message appear intermittently in the car upon starting the vehicle since I purchased the vehicle in August 2024. See attached photo. The message appears seconds after starting up and will go away. Lane keep assist will turn off but I can turn it back on. Additionally, I have had a similar occurrence in multiple occasions while driving where these systems will turn off and present an orange light on the dashboard. I’m not able to turn the systems back on when this happens. It will reset itself after turning the car on and then off. I have had it in the dealer for this. The explanation was if the battery is below 80% charge this will happen. Seems like a weird response. You would think that if it happens once when the battery is allegedly under 80% charge, if you immediately turn off the car, and restart it ( not giving the car time to charge) it would happen again. I have tested that and it appears untrue. Appears to be some sort of software or sensor issues within the car. I have seen this issue online and the dealer seemed familiar with it on other cars.

Hybrid system failure alert (red wrench)– the vehicle has shut down while driving, including on highways. When the light goes on – it has braked on its own without me touching the pedal. DCI- is the code the dealership says is coming up No fix for it

Emergency electric brake system has set up a number of times on its own always when it was parked. I was towing the car behind a motorhome ,it is 2024 grand Cherokee Jeep Summit with approximately 6600 miles on it ,the electric emergency break system set up going down the road at 50 mile an hour behind the motorhome. The motorhome has 650 hp engine. I didn’t even feel the brakes set up on the car. I saw a lot of smoke behind the motorhome . I pulled over and it turned out the electric brake set and I couldn’t get it to release. I called the dealer where I bought it to see if they could tell me how to release it. They referred me to jeep, I thought sure that they’d have someone but they referred me to a jeep dealer in Santa Fe, New Mexico The dealership had a tow co haul it to the dealership and told me tow ins were 3 to 4 weeks out before they could get in and look at them . After a month and they had not looked at it I had it hauled to Mike Shaw Jeep where I bought it. My concern is that had I been driving that car on interstate highways in Colorado 75 mph or states where it’s 85 miles an hour and the brake set up I’m going to be in the ditch or in the front of another vehicle killing my self and family or someone else family. This Jeep needs to be taken off the road before someone is Killed. I refuse to drive it.or let a family member drive it.have had no satisfaction from Jeep dealers. I had to have a car to drive so I had to spend another $60,000 for a car..

On several occasions, FCW activated unexpectedly in low risk situations (in driveway, pulling into neighborhood) May 2024 & Nov 2024. While driving 60MHP on a 4 lane highway during rush hour on May 19, FCW activated unexpectedly; immediately taking me down to 20MHP. The “BRAKE” warning and beeping remained with the brakes activated for 30-60 seconds. I was unable to accelerate. Vehicles behind me had to swerve to avoid impact. As I was pulling off the highway immediately following, FCW activated again and I was nearly rear-ended. There were no vehicles in front of me for a least a mile during these incidents. Vehicle has been inspected by 3 separate certified Jeep mechanic. All claim they cannot identify an issue with the vehicle as there are no active codes in the system. The dealer has not been able to reproduce the concern. It appears to happen every couple thousand miles. My safety and my family’s safety and other drivers are at risk if this vehicle remains on the road unfixed. The sudden braking could cause a major accident. Jeep refuses to address the issue. The dealer insists nothing is wrong because the issue is not found.

The entire vehicle failed with a No Start Issue. The vehicle will not wake up, can not jump off. My safety is being stranded without a workable vehicle. No the problem has not been resolved after being towed into service to the dealer twice. The STAR engineers got involved this last time but asked the service center to release the vehicle to me because they could not replicate the issue. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms to indicate a problem with the vehicle/engine/electronic system, the vehicle is just simply dead.

the issues I'm experiencing are a rubbing sound when breaking and turing the wheel. THE CAR TURNED ON AND COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF. nothing worked or responded no matter what you pushed. The brake sensor and lane assist diagnostic fault codes (error codes)popped up which they couldn't find a bulletin or error code to replicate the issue. The vehicle would not read the key fob, it would say the fob had left the vehicle because the door opened, or if i move the key while in the vehicle( bulletin for this issue). I get the call that my vehicle is ready and I'm driving away and the steering wheel vibration coming from the engine between 40 and 49mph feels like I should be driving on rumble strips, but the drive is smooth, this is coming straight from the engine or transmission when you accelerate through the steering wheel. This was not an issue before they ran their tests and fixed said problems. The computers are still updating on the screen and I hope that it evens out when the car turns on and off and the computers reset.NOW TODAY the car starts dinging and error codes are flashing on my dash. It's the lane sensor and the lane assist error code going crazy. This was the issue they couldn't replicate or find a bulletin on. Here's the fun part, the problem becomes more consistent when I apply the brakes. One time the brakes seem to not work properly. All these error codes pop up when you initiate the braking system. Then the final error code was warning me that the breaking system was faulty. I drove it straight to the dealership and left out with them again.
