Latches/locks/linkages, hood, latchMay 28, 2020
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2018 Nissan Altima vehicles. If the primary hood latch is inadvertently released, there is an increased likelihood that the secondary hood latch may corrode over time.
Corrosion to the secondary latch may cause it to bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed. If the primary latch is inadvertently released again and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install a stronger release spring in the hood release lever, a warning label near the secondary hood latch, and an Owners Manual addendum card with instructions on how to lubricate and maintain the secondary hood latch mechanism, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 30, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Note: Recall 16V-029 remains open for any unremedied 2013-2015 Altimas and this recall applies to all vehicles covered by 16V-029 even if those repairs have already been performed.

Air bags, sensor, occupant classificationDec 19, 2016
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Altima vehicles manufactured January 3, 2013, to July 29, 2013, 2015-2016 Rogue vehicles manufactured October 14, 2014, to August 12, 2016, and 2016 Maxima vehicles manufactured June 4, 2015, to August 19, 2015. An incorrect Occupant Classification System (OCS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) may have been installed in the front passenger seat. The incorrect ECU and seat combination may misclassify the front passenger seat occupant.
If the front passenger seat occupant is misclassified, the air bag may deploy incorrectly in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ECU and update the OCS software free of charge. The recall began February 13, 2017. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

Air bags, sensor, occupant classificationApr 26, 2016
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, NV200, LEAF, Sentra, and Pathfinder, 2014-2016 Nissan NV200 Taxi, Infiniti QX60, QX60 Hybrid, and Q50 Hybrid, 2014-2017 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, 2015-2016 Nissan Murano, Murano Hybrid, and Chevrolet City Express, 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.
If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.
Nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet City Express owners will be notified by General Motors. Dealers will reprogram the Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) and OCS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue, and Sentra vehicles, and replace the OCS ECU in LEAF, NV200, NV200 Taxi, Pathfinder, Infiniti Q50, JX35, and QX60 and Chevrolet City Express vehicles, free of charge. Interim notices were sent to owners on May 31, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, Infiniti customer service at 1-888-833-3216 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.

Latches/locks/linkages, hood, latchJan 22, 2016
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Nissan Altima vehicles manufactured March 6, 2012, to December 31, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.
If the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
These vehicles were previously included in recalls 14V-565 and 15V-116, however the previous remedy plan may not have been performed consistently to remove the safety risk. To correct this issue, Nissan will re-notify all affected owners and dealers will replace the hood latch with a new one, free of charge. The recall began on February 17, 2016. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261. Note: This recall supersedes recalls 14V-565 and 15V-116.

Air bags, frontalOct 20, 2015
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Altima and Pathfinder vehicles, 2013-2014 Nissan Sentra vehicles, 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles, 2014-2015 Infiniti QX60 vehicles and 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid vehicles. The affected vehicles received an incorrect occupant classification system (OCS) control unit during a repair. These OCS control units may incorrectly classify the front passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.
If the OCS does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger air bag would be deactivated. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the passenger.
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will update the OCS software, free of charge. The recall began on November 30, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

Fuel system, gasolineAug 4, 2015
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) notified the agency on July 31, 2015, that they are recalling certain model year 2016 Nissan Maxima vehicles manufactured February 10, 2015, to August 18, 2015. On October 14, 2015, Nissan expanded the recall to cover an additional 41,388 vehicles, including certain model year 2013-2015 Altima 3.5 vehicles equipped with a V6 engine manufactured March 30, 2012, to August 18, 2015 as well as the vehicles covered by the July 31, 2015 notification. In the affected vehicles, due to an improperly installed o-ring that may not have been seated correctly at the time of assembly, fuel may leak during a crash from the area where the fuel sending unit attaches to the fuel tank.
If fuel leaks from between the fuel sending unit and the tank, it may increase the risk of a fire in the event of a crash.
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install a retainer ring between the fuel tank and the fuel sending unit. The recall began on September 28, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

I BOUGHT MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 3 & A HALF YEARS AGO WHEN THE CAR ONLY HAD 16K MILES ON IT. IT NOW HAS 72K MILES ON IT. OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS MY HUSBAND AND I BOTH HAVE NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT DIMINISHED BRIGHTNESS IN THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS. SO MUCH SO THAT I PERSONALLY WILL NOT DRIVE MY CAR AT NIGHT. I WILL BE CONTACTING NISSAN TO SEE IF / HOW THEY WILL RECTIFY THIS ISSUE.
Exterior lighting, Apr 1, 2019

Exterior lighting, Apr 1, 2019
LOW BEAM ISSUE CANNOT SEE AT NIGHT TIME WHEN DRIVING. REACH OUT TO NISSAN BUT NO HELP WITH THIS ISSUE. GAVE ME A QUOTE TO HAVE THEM FIX AND IN SO MANY WORDS THAT IT WAS NOT THERE PROBLEM. I'VE LEARNED THAT THIS LOW BEAM IS AN ISSUE WITH OTHER VEHICLES OF SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEARS. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS. DRIVING AT NIGHT IS UNSAFE WITH THESE HEADLIGHTS.

Exterior lighting, Mar 26, 2019
WE BOUGHT THE ALTIMA NEW IN 2013. AFTER THREE YEARS, THE HEADLIGHTS STARTED GETTING DIM. NOW IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. HIGH BEAMS WORK GREAT, BUT UNSAFE TO USE ON TWO WAY ROADS. WENT TO LOCAL NISSAN DEALER, AND THERE IS NO RECALL, AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY $1200 TO REPLACE HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE, AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY NISSAN.
Exterior lighting, Mar 11, 2019

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE FAULTY. THE HEADLIGHTS WERE REPAIRED THREE TIMES PREVIOUSLY. THE FAILURE PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM BEING DRIVEN AT NIGHT DUE TO THE DIM HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ESTABROOK NISSAN (3693 14TH ST, PASCAGOULA, MS 39567, (228) 762-2644), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,200.

Exterior lighting, Feb 22, 2019
MY LIGHTS ARE VERY DIM AND IT IS VERY HARD TO SEE IN UNLIT AREAS. IT DOESN'T APPEAR THE LIGHT ARE ON BUT THEY ARE. IF YOU WANT TO SEE YOU HAVE TO PUT ON HIGH BEAMS BUT HAVE TO TAKE OFF ON ON COMING TRAFFIC. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND THEY ARE TO FIX THE LIGHTING
Exterior lighting, Feb 21, 2019, crash
MY HEADLIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL YET. THESE THINGS CAN'T LIGHT UP MORE THAN 5-10FT IN FRONT OF YOU AT NIGHT. I HAVE BECOME A RIDESHARE DRIVER AND THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE IF YOU ASK ME. I HAVE TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS WHENEVER DRIVING IN A NON-LIT AREA WHICH AFFECTS ONCOMING TRAFFIC REGULARLY. I HAVE REPLACED BULBS MULTIPLE TIMES, UPGRADING TO THE BEST LIGHTS EACH TIME AND TO NO EFFECT. WHAT'S IT GONNA TAKE??? DEATH BEFORE THIS ISSUE BECOMES A PROBLEM TO YOU PEOPLE?? SICKENING IS WHAT IT IS. I DON'T HAVE $1000 TO FIX ON MY OWN AND IF I DID I STILL WOULDN'T. PLEASE RECALL VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY BEFORE I KILL PEOPLE
Exterior lighting, Feb 18, 2019
LOWBEAM LIGHTS ARE NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT !MUST USE HIGH BEAMS TO SEE MORE THAN 20 FEET AHEAD
Exterior lighting, Feb 17, 2019
TAKATA RECALL- THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM, IT'S ALMOST AS IF THEY DON'T EVEN WORK. I CAN BARELY SEE IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAVE TO USE THE BRIGHTS IF I AM DRIVING TO EVEN SEE A LITTLE BIT. THIS CAR IS TOTALLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE! THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED ALREADY AND NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE! I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. SAFETY HAZARD BY FAR!!!
Exterior lighting, Feb 15, 2019
THE REFLECTIVE MATERIAL IN THE REFLECTOR (WHERE YOUR BULB IS SEATED) HAS OXIDIZED AND BURNT OFF THE LOW BEAM PORTION OF THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING. THE LIGHTS ARE COMPLETELY USELESS AND WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT.
Exterior lighting, Feb 11, 2019
HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM ON LOW BEAM IT IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT OR IN THE FOG OTHER MOTORISTS HAVE CROSSED INTO MY LANE BECAUSE THEY CAN HARDLY SEE ME.I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS NUMEROUS TIMES AND NOTHING HAS HELPED DEALER SAID I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY.
Exterior lighting, Feb 6, 2019
HEADLIGHTS ARE DIM WHICH CAUSES LOW NIGHTTIME VISIBILITY. THE LENS COVERS ARE CLEAN AND CLEAR BUT STILL NOT ENOUGH LIGHT TO SEE CLEARLY AT NIGHT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD.
Exterior lighting, Feb 4, 2019
MY LOW BEAMS HAVE BEEN VERY DIM TO THE POINT WHERE I USE MY HIGH BEAMS TO SEE AT NIGHT. I RECENTLY REPLACED THE BULBS WITH BRAND NEW ONES THINKING THAT WOULD FIX THE ISSUE. THEY STILL SHOW VERY DIM. WHEN I HAVE PASSENGERS IN MY VEHICLE, THEY ASK IF MY HEADLIGHTS ARE EVEN ON. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING WITH ALMOST NO VISIBILITY AT NIGHT OR IN THE RAIN.
Exterior lighting, Feb 2, 2019
THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA ARE VERY DIM AND I HAVE A VERY DIFFICULT TIME SEEING AT NIGHT WHEN DRIVING THIS CAR. THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND ADJUSTED SEVERAL TIMES BUT NOTHING WORKS. IT HAS GOTTEN SO BAD THAT IT IS AS THOUGH THE HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT EVEN ON! IT SEEMS LIKE IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE!
Exterior lighting, Jan 29, 2019
FRONT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE DIMMING GRADUALLY AS THE CAR AGES. LOOKING INSIDE OF THE REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY IN THE PROJECTION HEADLIGHT UNIT, THE REFLECTOR IS DISCOLORED AND BURNT UP INSTEAD OF BRIGHT AND REFLECTIVE. IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT AND I FEAR DRIVING AT NIGHT DUE TO POSSIBLE HAZARDS TO MYSELF OR OTHERS.
Exterior lighting, Jan 28, 2019
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM IT'S HARD TO SEE THE ROAD AT NIGHT.
Exterior lighting, Jan 26, 2019
THE DIM LIGHTS ARE SO WEAK THAT I CAN NOT SEE AS MUCH AS A FOOT IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AT NIGHT TIME., WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH HIGH BEEMS ON AT ALL TIMES. I WORK NIGHT SHIFT AND NEED THE DIM LIGHTS WHEN MEETING SOMEONE ON THE HIGHWAYS. WHEN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I SEE MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINTS AND YET NISSAN WILL NOT LOOK INTO THE DEFECTS OF THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLIES THAT THEY ARE USING. IT IS SAID THAT THE PROJECTORS HAVE BEEN BURNING OUT CAUSING DIM LIGHTS NO TO WORK AND THE COST TO FIX IS GREATER THAN 1200. WITH NISSAN.
Exterior lighting, Jan 21, 2019
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM; MAKES NIGHT DRIVING VERY DIFFICULT; THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT VERY GOOD EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW AND HAVE GOTTEN WORSE AS THE CAR AGES
Exterior lighting, Jan 19, 2019
MY HEADLIGHTS AT NIGHT DOESN'T PROVIDE ENOUGH LIGHTING AHEAD FOR ME TO SEE A SAFE DISTANCE AHEAD. AT NIGHT WHEN MY HEADLIGHTS ARE ON I BARELY CAN SEE. I MUST DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON OR I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE. THIS IS TERRIBLE AND NOT SAFE AT ALL. I DON'T KNOW WHY NISSAN HASN'T ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE A NISSAN ALTIMA S. I BROUGHT MY CAR NEW WITH ONLY 2 MILES ON IT IN AUG/SEPT OF 2013. I TRY VERY HARD NOT TO DRIVE WHEN IT GETS DARK. MY CAR HA ABOUT 75,000 MILES ON IT,
Exterior lighting, Jan 18, 2019
THE LIGHTS HAVE DIMMED TO THE POINT I CANNOT SEE ON THE ROAD ANYMORE. THE CAR IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS WITH MULTIPLE BRANDS AND TYPES OF BULBS WITH THE SAME RESULT EVERY TIME.
