Recalls and investigations

  1. Latches/locks/linkages, hood, latchMay 28, 2020

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2018 Nissan Altima vehicles. If the primary hood latch is inadvertently released, there is an increased likelihood that the secondary hood latch may corrode over time.

Corrosion to the secondary latch may cause it to bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed. If the primary latch is inadvertently released again and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install a stronger release spring in the hood release lever, a warning label near the secondary hood latch, and an Owner’s Manual addendum card with instructions on how to lubricate and maintain the secondary hood latch mechanism, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 30, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Note: Recall 16V-029 remains open for any unremedied 2013-2015 Altimas and this recall applies to all vehicles covered by 16V-029 even if those repairs have already been performed.

  2. Air bags, sensor, occupant classificationDec 19, 2016

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Altima vehicles manufactured January 3, 2013, to July 29, 2013, 2015-2016 Rogue vehicles manufactured October 14, 2014, to August 12, 2016, and 2016 Maxima vehicles manufactured June 4, 2015, to August 19, 2015. An incorrect Occupant Classification System (OCS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) may have been installed in the front passenger seat. The incorrect ECU and seat combination may misclassify the front passenger seat occupant.

If the front passenger seat occupant is misclassified, the air bag may deploy incorrectly in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ECU and update the OCS software free of charge. The recall began February 13, 2017. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

  3. Air bags, sensor, occupant classificationApr 26, 2016

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, NV200, LEAF, Sentra, and Pathfinder, 2014-2016 Nissan NV200 Taxi, Infiniti QX60, QX60 Hybrid, and Q50 Hybrid, 2014-2017 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, 2015-2016 Nissan Murano, Murano Hybrid, and Chevrolet City Express, 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.

If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.

Nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet City Express owners will be notified by General Motors. Dealers will reprogram the Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) and OCS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue, and Sentra vehicles, and replace the OCS ECU in LEAF, NV200, NV200 Taxi, Pathfinder, Infiniti Q50, JX35, and QX60 and Chevrolet City Express vehicles, free of charge. Interim notices were sent to owners on May 31, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, Infiniti customer service at 1-888-833-3216 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.

  4. Latches/locks/linkages, hood, latchJan 22, 2016

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Nissan Altima vehicles manufactured March 6, 2012, to December 31, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.

If the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

These vehicles were previously included in recalls 14V-565 and 15V-116, however the previous remedy plan may not have been performed consistently to remove the safety risk. To correct this issue, Nissan will re-notify all affected owners and dealers will replace the hood latch with a new one, free of charge. The recall began on February 17, 2016. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261. Note: This recall supersedes recalls 14V-565 and 15V-116.

  5. Air bags, frontalOct 20, 2015

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Altima and Pathfinder vehicles, 2013-2014 Nissan Sentra vehicles, 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles, 2014-2015 Infiniti QX60 vehicles and 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid vehicles. The affected vehicles received an incorrect occupant classification system (OCS) control unit during a repair. These OCS control units may incorrectly classify the front passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.

If the OCS does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger air bag would be deactivated. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the passenger.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will update the OCS software, free of charge. The recall began on November 30, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

  6. Fuel system, gasolineAug 4, 2015

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) notified the agency on July 31, 2015, that they are recalling certain model year 2016 Nissan Maxima vehicles manufactured February 10, 2015, to August 18, 2015. On October 14, 2015, Nissan expanded the recall to cover an additional 41,388 vehicles, including certain model year 2013-2015 Altima 3.5 vehicles equipped with a V6 engine manufactured March 30, 2012, to August 18, 2015 as well as the vehicles covered by the July 31, 2015 notification. In the affected vehicles, due to an improperly installed o-ring that may not have been seated correctly at the time of assembly, fuel may leak during a crash from the area where the fuel sending unit attaches to the fuel tank.

If fuel leaks from between the fuel sending unit and the tank, it may increase the risk of a fire in the event of a crash.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install a retainer ring between the fuel tank and the fuel sending unit. The recall began on September 28, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Nissan Altima vehicles manufactured March 1, 2013, to December 31, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.

If the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will be instructed to modify the bend angle of the hood actuation lever to eliminate potential interference with the hood inner panel. In addition, dealers will clean and lubricate the latch joint as needed. If significant corrosion is observed, the latch assembly will be replaced. This repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began March 31, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261. Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 14V-565.

HEADLIGHTS TOO DIM TO SEE WHEN OPERATING VEHICLE; TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I MUST REPLACE THE WHOLE PROJECTOR SYSTEM AT A COST OF $1600.00. FOR HEADLIGHTS!

  4. Exterior lighting, Jan 8, 2019

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE PROPERLY, WHICH RESULTED IN EXTREMELY LOW VISIBILITY. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BULBS MORE THAN ONCE; HOWEVER, THE LIGHTING WAS SO DIM THAT THE FOG LIGHTS AND HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAD TO BE USED AS AN ALTERNATE OPTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED 2 OTHER TIMES. *TR

  5. Exterior lighting, Jan 7, 2019

BOTH LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN DETERIORATING SINCE THE AUTO WAS PURCHASED. THE ILLUMINATION DECREASED,IT CREATED AN UNSAFE DRIVING SITUATION FOR THE OWNER,DRIVER,PSNGRS,OTHER DRVRS,OTHER PSSNGRS & PEDESTRIANS WITH A HIGH LIKELIHOOD OF INJURY,DEATH &/OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. I HAVE HIT POTHOLES,CROSSED LANES INTO OPPOSING TRAFFIC & HAVE BEEN FORCED TO USE HIGH BMS WHEN POTENTIALLY UNSAFE FOR OTHER DRVRS. I BELIEVE THE DETERIORATION IS DUE TO A DESIGN DEFECT WHERE THE INSIDE OF THE PROJECTOR LENS MELTS OR OTHERWISE FAILS & THE LENS BECOMES PROGRESSIVELY OPAQUE. WE REQUEST THE NHTSA OFFICE OF DFCTS INVESTIGATION (ODI) INITIATE AN INVESTIGATION & PURSUE A RECALL FOR THE MODEL YEARS 2013,2014 & 2015 BASED ON THE NUMBER OF NHTSA COMPLAINTS FOR THIS DFCT. PER THE IIHS,THE ALTIMA HDLGHT SYSTEM WAS REDESIGNED FOR THE MDL YRS 2013 & 2016. THE NUMBER OF FILED CMPLNTS IS ONLY REPRESENTATIVE OF THE LARGER BASE OF DFCTS THAT EXISTS. FOR THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM,NOTE THAT AN OLDER 2012 MDL ONLY HAS 1 CMPLNT & THE 2011 MDL HAS 0 CMPLNTS. ALSO NOTE THAT MDL 2016 HAS ONLY 1 CMPLNT & 2017 MDL HAS 0 CMPLNTS. THIS CONCENTRATION OF CMPLNTS AROUND THE MDL YRS OF 2013,2014 & 2015 SHOWS THAT IT IS NOT A NORMAL WEAR & TEAR ITEM THAT THE OWNR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR BUT AN INHERENT DESIGN DFCT THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR. THE DFCT EXISTS AT DATE OF PURCHASE BUT MAY NOT BE NOTICEABLE TO THE OWNR UNTIL SOMETIME LATER & POTENTIALLY AFTER THE STD WARRANTY EXPIRES. CMPLNTS FOR DETERIORATING LOW BM HDLGHTS 2013: 68,2014: 48,2015: 26 TO COMPARE,THERE IS A CURRENT ODI INVESTIGATION INTO A FAILED REAR SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM THAT WAS BEGUN WITH ONLY 4 CMPLNTS. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED 12/13/18 & NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WAS NOTIFIED 12/18/18. TO DATE,THE MNFR HAS REFUSED TO PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS. THE AUTO IS AT THE DEALER'S SERV DEPT & I WILL NOT DRIVE THE AUTO B/C IT IS UNSAFE TO DO SO

DIM LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS. OVER THE PAST 1.5 + YEARS THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN PROGRESSIVELY BEEN GETTING DIMMER. IT IS TO THE POINT THAT DRIVING IS DANGEROUS AS IT IS DIFFICULTY TO SEE THE ROADWAY AND ONCOMING AREAS. I HAD THIS CHECKED AT DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE LENSES ARE DEGRADING. WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL OR FIX BY NISSAN. CHANGING BULBS WOULD NOT HELP. THEY QUOTED AN APPROXIMATE REPLACEMENT OF $1000.00 TO $1200.00 WITH ALL NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THIS WAS THE ONLY FIX AVAILABLE AS THE LENSES CANNOT BE REPLACED. THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE REPLACED.

  8. Exterior lighting, Jan 3, 2019

LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE BECOME SO DIM, THEY ARE UNUSABLE. AT NIGHT, THE LOW BEAMS DO NOT ILLUMINATE MORE THAN 10-15 FEET IN FRONT OF THE CAR WHILE MOVING, FORCING YOU TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS TO HAVE ANY VISIBILITY, WHICH IS DANGEROUS TO ONCOMING CARS. LOW BEAMS DO NOT ILLUMINATE STREET SIGNS OR SIDE LINES OF ROADS. ANY RAIN MAKES IT EVEN WORSE. SEARCHING FOR A SOLUTION HAS REVEALED THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH NO SOLUTION FROM NISSAN.

  9. Exterior lighting, Jan 2, 2019

ABOUT 1.5 YEARS AGO, I NOTICED MY DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT SUDDENLY BECOME DIM, A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE SAME WITH THE PAX LIGHT. IT MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT TO THE POINT I WAS DRIVING WITH HIGH BEAMS. I WENT TO GET THE REQUIRED REJECTED STICKER FOR THE CAR AND WAS REJECTED DUE TO THE LIGHTS. AFTER REPLACING THE BULBS TWICE WITH 2 SEPARATE MECHANICS, STILL NO APPROPRIATE LIGHTING & A SECOND STICKER REJECTION. I WAS QUOTED BY 2 SEPARATE MECHANICS BETWEEN $850-1000 TO REPLACE BOTH OF THE LIGHTING UNITS WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS AND I JUST DO NOT HAVE THAT MONEY TO GIVE. I RECENTLY DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE OTHERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM SO, SEEMS THAT IT IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. I CALLED NISSAN TODAY TO ASK ABOUT A RECALL BUT, THERE ISN'T ONE. I ASKED FOR NISSAN TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENTS & WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK AFTER ASSESSING THE YEAR, MILEAGE, REPAIR HISTORY, ETC...LOCALLY, I ONLY DRIVE LOCALLY BECAUSE I'VE BEEN DRIVING VIRTUALLY BLINDLY AND ILLEGALLY FOR 1+ YEAR NOW FRUSTRATED TO NOT HAVE A SOLUTION. I HOPE THAT NISSAN WILL RECOGNIZE THE ISSUE AND PAY FOR THE REPAIR.

  10. Exterior lighting, Dec 31, 2018

THE LIGHTS ARE SO DIM IT IS LIKE I DON'T HAVE THEM ON AT NIGHT. VERY HARD TO SEE DRIVING AT NIGHT. *DT THE VIN PROVIDED HAS NO DISPLAYABLE RECORDS. *JB

  11. Exterior lighting, Dec 30, 2018

THE HEADLIGHTS ARE INCREASINGLY DIMINISHING IN REGARDS TO THE DISTANCE IN WHICH IT PROJECTS AS THE CAR AGES THOUGH FROM DAY ONE THE HEADLIGHTS WERE POOR IN WHICH MOON OR FOG LIGHTS WERE INSTALLED TO SUPPLEMENT THIS ISSUE. THE FASTER YOU TRAVEL THE POORER THE QUALITY OF THE LIGHTING. I'VE CHANGED HEADLIGHTS AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THIS HAS NOT RESOLVED THE ISSUE, I'VE EVEN ADJUSTED THE HEADLIGHT PROJECTION TO NO RESOLVE. THERE IS NO KNOWN SOLUTION TO THIS MATTER AS APPARENTLY NISSAN REFUSES TO TAKE ANY ACTION AND DRIVING AT NIGHT IS A DOUBLE EDGE SWORD, THE DRIVER DRIVES BLINDED AS THE POOR PROJECTION OR THE DRIVER USES HIGH BEAMS AND BLINDS OTHER DRIVERS WHICH FURTHER INCREASES DANGER OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

  12. Exterior lighting, Dec 27, 2018

I HAVE A 2013 NISSAN. ALTIMA AND THE LIGHTS ARE VERY DIM. I HAVE REPLACED THE LIGHT BULBS AND IT DIDN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I CAN NOT SEE 2 FEET IN FRONT OF ME. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR MY KIDS AND MYSELF. I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING AT NIGHT BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ENOUGH LIGHT TO SEE WHAT'S IN FRONT OF ME, OR OTHERS TO SEE ME. MANY OF TIMES PEOPLE HAVE TURNED IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE THE LIGHTS ARE SO DIM.

  13. Exterior lighting, Dec 13, 2018

LIGHTS HAVE BEEN GOING DIM. DANGEROUSLY CANNOT TELL IF LOW BEAMS ARE ON OR OFF. ITS NOT A BULB ISSUE. THE BEIGHT HIGH BEAMS ARE FINE AND YOU HAVE TO USE THEM TO DRIVE AT NIGHT

  14. Exterior lighting, Dec 11, 2018

I WAS INFORMED BY 2 DIFFERENT MECHANIC SHOPS THAT THE LIGHTING SYSTEM ON MY CAR IS DEFECTIVE. I REPLACED THE HEADLIGHTS 2 TIMES BY 2 DIFFERENT SHIPS AND THEY ARE STILL DIM. THIS IS A HAZARD BECAUSE I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH MY HIGHBEAMS ON AT NIGHT. THIS POSES SAFETY CONCERNS NOT ONLY TO MYSELF BUT TO OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL AND I'M ALSO LIABLE TO RECEIVE A CITATION THAT I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER. I'VE BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUES FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS.

  15. Exterior lighting, Visibility/wiper, Dec 10, 2018

LIGHTS ON LOW BEAM ARE HAZARDOUS BECAUSE THEY DON'T PROVIDE ENOUGH LIGHT TO SEE AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE TO USE HIGH BEAMS TO SEE AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING. IT APPARENTLY IS A DEFECT ON 2013 NISSAN ALTIMAS AND IT MUST BE FIXED BEFORE SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS!

  16. Exterior lighting, Dec 9, 2018

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS SEEMED EXTREMELY DIM I COULD BARELY SEE ITEMS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS DEFINITELY OUT DRIVING THE DISTANCE THE LOW BEAMS WERE CASTING DOWN THE ROAD. THE HAD GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME BUT DRIVING IT EVERYDAY YOU GET USED TO IT UNTIL I DROVE MY WIFE'S CAR AND NOTICED THE MAJOR DIFFERENCE. AFTER HAVING IT DIAGNOSED SIMPLY REPLACING THE HEADLIGHT BULBS WOULDN'T FIX IT AND THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES HAD TO BE REPLACED WHICH WOULD COST NEARLY $1,000. THE BULBS BASICALLY MELTED THE INSIDE FACE OF THE PROJECTOR LENS AND WOULDN'T LET LIGHT THRU. AFTER COMPLAINING TO NISSAN USA THEY SAID THEY WOULD COVER 70% OF THE COST. I DON'T BELIEVE AN OWNER SHOULD BE EXPECTED TO REPLACE AN ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY AFTER 5 YEARS AND THAT THEY'VE MADE A PRODUCT THAT IS UNSAFE AND SET TO FAIL.

  17. Exterior lighting, Dec 9, 2018

LOW BEAM LIGHTS ARE REALLY DIM. I CAN'T SEE ANY MORE THAN MAYBE 15 TO 20 FEET IN FRONT IF ME WITH THE LIGHTS ON DIM. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. WHEN YOU ADD IN RAIN IT IS HORRENDOUS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO EVERY NISSAN OWNER WHO IS HAVING TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE. DRIVING ON ANY ROADWAY IS DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IN AREAS WHERE THERE ARE NO STREETLIGHTS. I LIVE IN THE CITY AND IT IS STILL EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. THIS ISSUE MAKES A 15 MINUTE DRIVE FEEL LIKE HOURS. I HAVE GOTTEN TO THE POINT THAT I HATE DRIVING AT NIGHT.

  18. Electrical system, Exterior lighting, Other or unspecified, Dec 8, 2018

AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW, FIRST OWNER IN SEPTEMBER 2013, 4 MONTHS LATER THE LEFT FOG LIGHT WENT OUT DID NOT THINK ANYTHING OF IT. TWO MONTHS LATER THE RIGHT HEAD LIGHT WENT OUT. THOUGHT IT WAS WEIRD BUT DID NOT STRESS MYSELF ABOUT IT. A YEAR LATER THE RIGHT REAR LIGHT ONLY WORKS WHEN YOU TAP IT. NOW I AM DRIVING ALL THE LIGHTS ARE OUT FROM THE CAR. NO BRAKE LIGHTS NO PARK LIGHTS NO LIGHTS. TOOK MY VEHICLE TO TIRE KINGDOM TO CHANGE BULBS ONLY TO FIND OUT THE NEW BULBS ARE NOT WORKING EITHER AND THE VEHICLE HAS A N ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. NEVER DID UNDERSTAND WHY DRIVERS BEHIND ME WOULD HONK THEIR HORNS AT ME OR BE FLASHING ME WITH THEIR HIGH BEAM LIGHTS. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS THEIR AIR CONDITIONING PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE ONLY GETS COOL WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. YOU CANNOT HAVE THE A/C ON WHEN BEING STATIONARY THE A/C ONLY PRODUCES HEAT DURING THAT TIME.

  19. Exterior lighting, Dec 4, 2018

MY HEADLIGHT ON MY NISSIAN ALTIMA ON DEN IS TO LIGHT AT NIGHT I CANNOT SEE THE ROAD I HAVE TO PUT THEM ON BRIGHT TO SEE. THAT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN MEETING ANOTHER VEHICLE AND U CAN'T HARDLY SEE THE ROAD. IT COST ALSO 800.00 TO GET NEW LIGHT. EVERYONE I TALK TO WITH SAME MODEL CAR ARE HAVING SAME PROBLEM. COME HOME AFTER DARK I WAS MEETING ANOTHER CAR LIGHT ON DEN, ALSO HIT ANOTHER CAR ON THE ROAD.

  20. Exterior lighting, Dec 1, 2018

HEADLIGHTS ARE TOO DIM. VISIBILITY APPEARS TO BE LIMITED TO MAYBE 50 FEET. I HAVE DIFFICULTY SEEING SEE ROAD MARKINGS (SUCH AS DIVIDING LINES) AND MEDIAN CURBS WHEN CROSSING INTERSECTIONS -- ESPECIALLY IN RAINY CONDITIONS. I NOTICED THIS BECAUSE I HAVE RENTED COMPARABLE VEHICLES WHILE ON TRAVEL AND DID NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE. I RECENTLY BLEW THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE THE MEDIAN CURB WHILE CROSSING AN INTERSECTION.

  21. Exterior lighting, Nov 23, 2018

SINCE MY WIFE BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN DIM AND CONTINUE TO DIMINISH IN USEFULNESS TO THE POINT WHERE DRIVING WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON IS THE BETTER ALTERNATIVE. WE HAVE TRIED HID LIGHTING KITS BUT THE WIRING CIRCUIT CAN NOT HANDLE THE AMPS AND THE FUSES WILL BLOW. NISSAN NEEDS TO HANDLE THIS AS A RECALL AND REPAIR THE HEADLIGHTS IN THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC SAFETY. THANK YOU.

  22. Exterior lighting, Nov 21, 2018

THE HEADLIGHTS ARE PROGRESSIVELY GETTING MORE DIM OVER TIME. LIGHTS ARE DIM ALL THE TIME, NOT RELATED TO IDLE OR OTHER FUNCTIONS. MILEAGE IS 72.000 MILES. NIGHT DRIVING IS HAZARDOUS. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE LIGHTING ONLY A FEW FEET IN FRONT OF THE CAR, NOT ILLUMINATING TRAFFIC SIGNS, DIFFICULTY WHEN MAKING TURNS AT A CORNER OR DRIVEWAY. I HAVE TO USE MY HIGH BEAMS AT NIGHT, THE HIGH BEAMS WORK FINE BUT ARE A HAZARD FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I REPORTED THIS TO NISSAN DEALER OVER A YEAR AGO AND THEY ADJUSTED THE AIM OF THE LIGHT UPWARD BUT THIS DID NOT HELP MUCH. THIS IS NOW A SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION.

  23. Exterior lighting, Nov 21, 2018

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 172,000. *TT*JB

  24. Exterior lighting, Nov 19, 2018

MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE NO OUTWARD PROJECTION. IT'S NOT A HEADLIGHT BULB ISSUE. WE BOUGHT NEW BULBS-DID NOT HELP. I CAN ONLY SEE 10 FT CLEARLY. I HAVE TO USE MY HIGH BEAMS. I'M TOLD I NEED TO PURCHASE NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE NOT MINE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

  25. Exterior lighting, Nov 15, 2018

THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT COVERAGE ONLY EXTENDS ABOUT 2 FEET IN FRONT OF MY CAR. THIS BECAME NOTICEABLE ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO AND IT HAS GRADUALLY GOTTEN WORSE. AT TIMES, IT LOOKS AS IF I DON'T EVEN HAVE MY LIGHTS ON. I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME AND THIS POSES A SAFETY RISK FOR ALL DRIVERS IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE LIKE THIS. I WAS ABOUT TO GET MY BULBS REPLACED AND DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH AND THAT'S WHEN I CAME ACROSS THE MANY, MANY INDIVIDUALS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND NOW I SEE THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY IT SEEMS AS THOUGH NOTHING IS BEING DONE OR THE QUESTION IS, HOW MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE TO BE FILED BEFORE A RECALL IS ISSUED BC IT IS OBVIOUSLY SOME SORT OF FLAW IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THESE VEHICLES. PLEASE HELP BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY $1000 TO REPLACE A WHOLE ASSEMBLY WHEN ALL ONE SHOULD HAVE TO DO IS CLEAN OFF THE BUILDUP ON THE OUTSIDE OF A HEADLIGHT AND/OR REPLACE A BULB.
