Recalls and investigations

  1. Latches/locks/linkages, hood, latchJun 13, 2022

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Pathfinder vehicles. On certain Pathfinder vehicles, the secondary hood latch may malfunction and remain in the unlatched, unsecured, position when the hood is closed.

An unsecured hood could unexpectedly open while driving, obstructing the driver's view, and increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the bell crank assembly, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed March 26, 2025. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall are R22A2 R22A3 and R24B7.

  2. Exterior lighting, brake lights, switchJan 20, 2021

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2015 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles. The location of the brake light switch may cause the brake light switch relay to repeatedly open and close. Overtime, this can cause the relay to stick in the "ON" position, with the brake lights remaining illuminated even when the brakes are not applied. Additionally, this may interfere with the brake-shift interlock, allowing the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "Park" position, without depressing the brake pedal.

Continual illumination of the brake lights can prevent other drivers from realizing the vehicle is actually slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash. With the brake override activated, the driver will not be able to accelerate normally, increasing the risk of a crash. The driver can shift the vehicle out of the "PARK" position without depressing the brake, allowing the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of injury.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, either re-install the brake light switch or swap positions with the Automatic Speed Control Device (ASCD) switch; depending on the model year vehicle. In addition, the brake light relay will be replaced with a new one. All repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began March 1, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall PC786. Note: this recall supersedes 16V-380.

  3. Exterior lighting, brake lights, switchMay 31, 2016

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Pathfinder vehicles manufactured June 20, 2012, to June 13, 2013. The brake light switch may have been installed incorrectly causing the relay to make intermittent contact and repeatedly cycle. This may result in the relay remaining in the "ON" position, causing the brake lights to remain illuminated even when the brakes are not applied. Additionally, the brake light switch may interfere with the brake-shift interlock, allowing the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "Park" position, without depressing the brake pedal.

If the brake override is activated, the driver will not be accelerate normally, increasing the risk of a crash. If the brake lights remain illuminated, other drivers may fail to stop when the vehicle actually brakes, increasing the risk of a crash. If the driver inadvertently shift the vehicle out of the "PARK" position without depressing the brake, the vehicle may rollaway, increasing the risk of injury.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake light switch and, as necessary, replace the relay, free of charge. The recall began on July 25, 2016. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

  4. Air bags, sensor, occupant classificationApr 26, 2016

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, NV200, LEAF, Sentra, and Pathfinder, 2014-2016 Nissan NV200 Taxi, Infiniti QX60, QX60 Hybrid, and Q50 Hybrid, 2014-2017 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, 2015-2016 Nissan Murano, Murano Hybrid, and Chevrolet City Express, 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.

If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.

Nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet City Express owners will be notified by General Motors. Dealers will reprogram the Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) and OCS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue, and Sentra vehicles, and replace the OCS ECU in LEAF, NV200, NV200 Taxi, Pathfinder, Infiniti Q50, JX35, and QX60 and Chevrolet City Express vehicles, free of charge. Interim notices were sent to owners on May 31, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, Infiniti customer service at 1-888-833-3216 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.

  5. Air bags, frontalOct 20, 2015

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Altima and Pathfinder vehicles, 2013-2014 Nissan Sentra vehicles, 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles, 2014-2015 Infiniti QX60 vehicles and 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid vehicles. The affected vehicles received an incorrect occupant classification system (OCS) control unit during a repair. These OCS control units may incorrectly classify the front passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.

If the OCS does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger air bag would be deactivated. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the passenger.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will update the OCS software, free of charge. The recall began on November 30, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

  6. Structure, body, hood, hinge and attachmentsJan 26, 2015

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles manufactured June 20, 2012, to November 18, 2013, 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid vehicles manufactured July 18, 2013, to November 18, 2013, 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles manufactured November 29, 2011, to June 14, 2013, and 2014 QX60 vehicles manufactured May 16, 2013, to November 18, 2013, and 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid vehicles manufactured July 18, 2013, to November 18, 2013. In the affected vehicles the hood release cable assembly may have been installed incorrectly preventing the latching claw from fully engaging. The secondary latch may remain in the open position when the hood is closed.

If the primary hood latch is released and the secondary latch fails during operation of the vehicle, it could cause the hood to open during vehicle operation impairing the driver's vision, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will modify the angle of the hood release mechanism to provide additional length to the release cable, free of charge. The recall began on March 9, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

  7. Power train, automatic transmission, cooling unit and linesMar 26, 2014

Nissan North America (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013 Pathfinder vehicles manufactured April 18, 2012, through October 3, 2012, and equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). In the affected vehicles, the internal oil cooler (ITOC) hose may detach from the cooler due to inadequate clamping force, allowing transmission fluid to leak.

The loss of transmission fluid could cause the transmission to function improperly and the vehicle to stop accelerating, increasing the risk of a crash.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install an oil hose repair kit, free of charge. The recall began on May 12, 2014. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

(Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Altima, LEAF, Pathfinder, and Sentra, model year 2013 NV200 (aka Taxi) and Infiniti JX35 and model year 2014 Infiniti Q50 and QX60 vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the occupant classification system (OCS) software may incorrectly classify the passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.

If the OCS does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger airbag would be deactivated. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the passenger.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will update the OCS software, free of charge. The recall began on April 14, 2014. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

  9. Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slipOct 17, 2013

Nissan is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles manufactured April 18, 2012, through September 20, 2013; model year 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles manufactured September 15, 2011, through January 16, 2013; and model year 2014 Infiniti QX60 vehicles manufactured January 17, 2013, through September 20, 2013. In the affected vehicles, during light braking on rough roads, the antilock brake system (ABS) brake pressure output software may lead to an increase in stopping distance.

The increased stopping distance may increase the risk of a crash.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the ABS, free of charge. The recall began on November 18, 2013. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

  10. Service brakesApr 12, 2013

Nissan is recalling certain model year 2013 Pathfinder and Infiniti JX vehicles manufactured December 3, 2012, through January 29, 2013. The front brake torque member was improperly cast resulting in structural weakness. This can lead to premature failure and cracking.

If the brake torque member fails, the brake caliper may move and contact the inside of the road wheel, resulting in reduced braking, increasing the risk of a crash.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the manufacturing date of the torque members and replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on May 20, 2013. Owners may contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-647-7261.

  11. Air bagsMar 1, 2013

Nissan is recalling certain model year 2013 Altima, LEAF, Pathfinder, Sentra, and Infiniti JX35 vehicles. Sensors within the passenger Occupant Detection System (ODS) may have been manufactured out of specification. This may cause the system to malfunction and permanently suppress the passenger airbag.

If the vehicle is involved in a crash necessitating airbag deployment and the passenger airbag is suppressed, there may be an increased risk of personal injury.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the ODS sensors and replace them as neccessary, free of charge. The recall began on May 6, 2013. Owners may contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-647-7261.

I WAS DRIVING ALONG, GOING ABOUT 40 MPH, WHEN SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND I WAS FORCED TO COAST IT TO THE SHOULDER AND RESTART IT AGAIN. I HAD ABOUT 3/4 TANK OF GAS, SO THAT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED AT LEAST TWICE SINCE THEN AND WE HAD IT SERVICED ON YESTERDAY, BUT THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. HOWEVER, THIS LOSS OF POWER, ESPECIALLY ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THANK YOU *TR

  4. Air bags, Apr 20, 2015

THIS IS A COMPLAINT SUPPORTING NHTSA ACTION NUMBER RQ15001. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED (SHOWING THE AIRBAG IS OFF) WHILE AN ADULT OVER 150 LBS IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. I HAVE HAD IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE COMPLAINT. I ALSO HAVE 2 VIDEOS OF THE ISSUE WHILE TRAVELING IN THE VEHICLE TO PROVE THAT THEIR IS AN ISSUE THAT EXISTS. IT HAS ALREADY HAD THE RECALL DONE ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS ISSUE. THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (OCS). *TR

  5. Structure, Apr 13, 2015

THE TAILGATE/HATCHBACK TRIED TO CLOSE ON WIFE'S HEAD AS SHE WAS PLACING STUFF INTO THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO ME. IT OCCURS WHEN THE GATE HASN'T FULLY OPENED YET, BUT FOR SOME REASON, IT DECIDES TO CLOSE INSTEAD OF OPEN WHEN SOMEONE IS REACHING INTO THE BACK. *TR

  6. Air bags, Apr 7, 2015

INTERMITTENTLY WHEN MY WIFE, WHO WEIGHS 110 LBS. SITS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. I HAVE TO STOP THE CAR, SHUT IT OFF AND RESTART IT ONE OR TWO TIMES. I HAVE HAD IT BACK TO THE NISSAN SERVICE CENTER, THEY CHECK EVERYTHING OUT AND TELL ME IT'S WORKING AS DESIGNED. IT HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR SENSOR REPLACEMENT. THE LAST TIME I WAS THERE THEY SAID THEY COULD RESET THE COMPUTER TO 0 TOLERANCE. NOT SURE WHAT THAT DOES TO THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. THEY HAVE TOLD MY WIFE TO SIT ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT AND ALSO IN THE CENTER OF THE SEAT. WHICH DOESN'T SEEM TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE. THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS 04/06/15. *TR

  7. Power train, Air bags, Fuel/propulsion system, Apr 5, 2015

UPON ACCELERATION FROM IDLE OR AT TRAFFIC LIGHT, DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATION PEDAL PRODUCES NO MOVEMENT. YOU HAVE TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN, UPON WHICH NO MOVEMENT FORWARD IS CREATED. ALSO, THE PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAG, EVEN WITH A 160 POUND PASSENGER SITS IN SEAT, AIRBAG LIGHT IS STILL TURNED OFF, SUBSEQUENTLY TURNING OFF AIRBAG. *TR

  8. Air bags, Mar 30, 2015, crash

MY 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE IMPACT ACCIDENT ON MAY 11TH, 2014. THREE OCCUPANTS OF MY MV WERE INJURED, INCLUDING MYSELF. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS. WITH THIS RECALL THE SIDE PASSENGER AIRBAGS WOULD FAIL TO DEPLOY IN A SIDE IMPACT ACCIDENT. AFTER MAY 11, 2014, I TOOK MY 2013 PATHFINDER TO LIA NISSAN IN ENFIELD, CT, TO HAVE MY AIRBAGS INSPECTED TO SEE IF THEY OPERATED PROPERLY IN THE ACCIDENT. WITHOUT INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE FEMALE SERVICE TECH./MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD SURELY HAVE OPERATED PROPERLY IN THE ACCIDENT AS DESIGNED. THE SERVICE EMPLOYEE STATED I NEEDED TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED SO THEY COULD PERFORM THE RECALL ON THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS/AIR BAG SENSOR. THEY WOULD NOT INSPECT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. DAMAGE TO THE 2013 PATHFINDER INCLUDED FRAME DAMAGE, BOTH PASSENGER DOORS WERE INOPERABLE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FRAME WAS REPLACED AS IT WAS BENT IN THE ACCIDENT. MV WAS REPAINTED. AFTER THE REPAIRS, I WAS STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT STAYING ON INDICATING THE AIRBAGS WERE OFF. AT VARIOUS NORMAL SERVICE (OIL CHANGES ETC...) I INFORMED NISSAN TECHS ABOUT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT. I WAS GIVEN THIS ADVICE FROM THE SERVICE TECH. IF THE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN TURN THE MV ON AND OFF TO RESET THE SENSOR. MARCH 2015 AFTER READING THE ARTICLE REGARDING THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION INTO THESE SAME ISSUES. I AGAIN TOOK MY MV TO LIA NISSAN IN ENFIELD, CT. TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT BEING STILL ON. THEY TOLD ME THE ISSUE WAS FIXED WITH THE RECALL AND EVEN IF THE PASSENGER (AIRBAG OFF) LIGHT IS ON, THE AIR BAGS WOULD STILL WORK PROPERLY. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE PROPER "OFF" INDICATOR WAS THE AIRBAG LIGHT IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I WAS THEN ADVISED AGAIN TO TURN MY MV OFF THEN ON TO RESET THE SENSOR. I DO NOT CONSIDER THIS ISSUE TO BE RESOLVED.

TURNING INTO PARKING SPACE AT MCDONALDS. FOOT ON BRAKES, SHIFT LEVER IN DRIVE, ENGINE SPEED AT IDLE. A BRIGHT RED FLASHING "EMERGENCY" LIGHT APPEARED INSIDE THE SPEEDOMETER RING AT THE NINE O'CLOCK POSITION. SIMULTANEOUSLY ACCOMPANIED BY A COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. THIS LIGHT IS NOT MENTIONED IN THE OPERATORS MANUAL. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE PORT CHARLOTTE FL DEALER AND CHECKED OUT PERFECTLY. THEIR MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THIS LIGHT--IT IS NOT IN THEIR MAINTENANCE MANUAL. I HAVE THREE EYE WITNESSES INSIDE THE CAR AT THE TIME. A LARGE SUV WITH NO BRAKES! WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG? *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT AN INCLINE OR AT A STOP BEFORE ACCESSING A HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE RUBBER AND THE ROOF RACKS DETERIORATED CAUSING THE RUBBER TO PARTIALLY DETACH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.

MY 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER HAS BEEN IN THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPT FOR A TOTAL OF 38+ DAYS (5 VISITS TO THE SERVICE DEPT WITH VARRYING LENGHTS OF STAY). THE VEHICLE IS STILL CURRENTLY WITH THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS, THAT'S WHY I SAY 38+ DAYS. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON WHEN I SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR NEARLY A YEAR. DURING THIS YEAR I WAS PREGNANT AND MY WEIGHT WENT UP TO 192 POUNDS. I CURRENTLY WEIGH AROUND 155 POUNDS AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT STILL CONTINUES TO TURN ON. A SPECIALIST CAME OUT FROM NISSAN USA YESTERDAY AND TOLD MY HUSBAND THEY HAVE EXHAUSTED ALL OPTIONS IN REGARDS TO REPAIRING THE PASSENGER AIR BAGS. WE ARE COMPLETELY FRUSTRATED AS NISSAN IS UNABLE TO HELP US OUT, BUT WE HAVE SERIOUS CONCERNS THAT OUR SUV IS UNSAFE. ANOTHER NOTE: WE HAVE PHOTOS AND VIDEO OF THE LIGHT GOING ON WHILE I'M SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DETECT THAT THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS CHECKED AND UPGRADED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DEALER INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V138000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.

  13. Air bags, Seat belts, Mar 24, 2015

WE NOTICED EARLY AFTER PURCHASE OF OUR 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DISABLE LIGHT WOULD COME ON WHETHER OR NOT THERE WAS SOMEONE SITTING IN THAT SEAT. BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP AND NOT MUCH HELP. REPROGRAM AND THE SAME ISSUE APPEARED IN JUST A FEW DAYS. MONTHS LATER NISSAN ISSUED A RECALL FOR PROGRAMMING. THIS STILL DID NOT CHANGE THE PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ENTIRE SEAT AT NO COST TO MYSELF. LIGHT STILL COMES ON WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN SEAT AT RANDOM TIMES OR NO ONE IS THE SEAT. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT WITHOUT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYING CORRECTLY. AND HOW DO WE KNOW IT IS ACTUALLY GOING TO WORK? *TR

  14. Electrical system, Air bags, Mar 24, 2015

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V069000 (AIR BAGS) AND REPAIRED. A YEAR LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO RESET THE CODE; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP CAME BACK ON INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG WAS OFF WHILE A PASSENGER WAS IN THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V138000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.

  15. Air bags, Mar 24, 2015

THIS VEHICLE WAS PART OF A SAFETY RECALL BY NISSAN FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG OR OCS NOT CORRECTLY IDENTIFYING THE OCCUPANT. IN JUNE 2014 I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO STATELINE NISSAN, KANSAS CITY, MO AND THEY COMPLETED THE RECALL ACTIVITY, HOWEVER, WITHIN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS, I NOTED THAT THE WARNING LIGHT ON THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS STAYING ACTIVATED WHEN AN ADULT WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO STATELINE NISSAN IN OCT 2014 AND AFTER RUNNING THE DIAGNOSTICS, THEY STATED THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THEY ADVISED TO MAKE SURE THE FRONT ADULT PASSENGER WAS SITTING STRAIGHT AND NOT LEANING OFF CENTER. I HAVE SINCE NOTED THE WARNING LIGHT WILL PERIODICALLY STAY ON WHEN EITHER AN ADULT IS IN THE SEAT, OR EVEN WHEN NO ONE IS SEATED. I AGAIN CALLED STATELINE NISSAN ON 3/23/15 AFTER READING AN ARTICLE CONCERNING CONTINUED ISSUES WITH THE OCS STILL MALFUNCTIONING AND THE NHTSA RECEIVING COMPLAINT. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AS THIS WAS NO LONGER AN AUTHORIZED ACTIVITY FROM NISSAN, BUT TO BRING IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. PLEASE INCLUDE THIS COMPLAINT WITH THE OTHERS. *TR

  16. Air bags, Mar 23, 2015

MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED BY NISSAN FOR THE AIRBAG SENSOR FAILING TO RECOGNIZE WHEN THERE IS A PASSENGER OCCUPYING THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE RECALL WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX THE ERROR IN THE SENSOR. HOWEVER, AFTER THEY "FIXED THE PROBLEM," THE SENSOR CONTINUES TO INDICATE THERE IS NO PASSENGER IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WHILE OCCUPIED, AND THE AIR BAG IS NOT TURNED ON. WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT THIS THE MOST RECENT TIME THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP (NISSAN OF OMAHA), THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN FIXED, AND EVEN IF IT INDICATES THE AIRBAG IS TURNED OFF, IT IS ACTUALLY ON. NOT ONLY DID THEY FAIL TO FIX THIS SAFETY PROBLEM, BUT THEY ALSO LIED ABOUT IT WORKING! THIS IS VERY DECEITFUL, AND COULD BE A MAJOR LIABILITY ISSUE AND LAWSUIT DOWN THE ROAD. *TR

  17. Air bags, Mar 23, 2015

INDICATOR LIGHT FOR PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAG INTERMITTENTLY WOULD SAY THAT IT IS OFF WHEN MY WIFE (141 LBS.) SITS IN THE SEAT. WHEN WE WENT TO CURRY NISSAN, 765 MEMORIAL DRIVE, CHICOPEE, MA 01020, THE DEALER WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS NO ASSIGNED WEIGHT FOR THE SENSOR AND SHE SHOULD EAT MORE FOR LUNCH TO GAIN SOME WEIGHT. WE WENT ROUND AND ROUND FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS UNTIL THEY SAID THERE WAS A FIX WHICH THEY DID BUT THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE. THEN WE WERE TOLD TO WAIT A FEW WEEKS AND THE WOULD HAVE MORE INFORMATION ON THE SITUATION. WHEN I WENT BACK THEY PUT A WEIGHT ON THE FRONT SEAT AND SAID THE SWITCH WAS WORKING FINE. A FEW DAYS LATER WHEN MY WIFE GOT IN THE VEHICLE AGAIN THE LIGHT INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG WAS OFF. AFTER A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS OF ALWAYS BEING AFRAID THAT IF WE EVER HAVE A CRASH WHERE THE FRONT AIR BAG SHOULD DEPLOY AND DOES NOT WE WOULD NOT BE HAPPY WITH THE END RESULTS OF HAVING THIS DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. TODAY WE SAW A REPORT ON COMPLAINTS FILED BY OTHERS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE AND WANTED TO PUT OUR INFORMATION INTO THE COMPLAINT. *TR

  18. Air bags, Mar 23, 2015

AT TIMES THE PASSENGER AIR BAG STATUS LIGHT STAYS ON, INDICATING THE AIR BAG IS TURNED OFF EVEN THOUGH AN ADULT IS SITTING IN THE SEAT, THIS CONTINUES AFTER 2 YEARS AND MANY TRIPS TO THE DEALER FOR ZERO THE SYSTEM (2 TIMES), REPLACE SENSORS, TORQUE SENSORS, REPLACE CONTROLLER, UPDATE SOFTWARE (2X) AND A PHONE COMPLAINT TO NISSAN. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I START CAR WHEN WIFE IS GETTING IN THE CAR. WHILE IT IS UNDERSTANDABLE A FALSE READING WILL OCCUR SINCE WEIGHT IS CHANGING AS IT IS SAMPLED, MY ISSUE IS THAT THE FAULT DOES NOT CLEAR FOR 25 TO 30 MINUTES BEFORE THE PROPER WEIGHT IS SENSED. . WHEN WE NOTICE THE WARNING LIGHT I STOP AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON "FIXING" THE ISSUE. BUT THE WARNING LIGHT IS HARD TO SEE IF SUN IS SHINING ON THE DASH BOARD AND AT TIMES WE HAVE ALREADY ENTERED A FREEWAY WITH NO GOOD PLACE TO PULL OVER. *TR

  19. Air bags, Mar 23, 2015

I AM FILING A COMPLAINT ABOUT MY NISSAN 2013 PATHFINDER, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR INDICATES THAT IT IS OFF WHEN MY 8 MONTH PREGNANT WIFE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I HAVE TAKEN THIS TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP, BEAU TOWNSEND NISSAN IN VANDALIA, OHIO, TWICE AND THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID IT IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT UNLESS THE SENSOR ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAY SHOWS THE AIRBAG IS OFF. I HAVE BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT THIS FOR MY WIFE'S SAFETY BEING PREGNANT WHEN SHE IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I FEEL THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND TAKEN CARE OF IMMEDIATELY. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO INTEREST IN FIGURING OUT THIS PROBLEM BEYOND TELLING ME THAT IT IS NO BIG DEAL. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BEARING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE WHEEL BEARING WAS REPLACED FOUR TIMES ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS. IN ADDITION, BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES WERE REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.

DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND NOTICED THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WAS LIT INDICATING THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS DISABLED. MY WIFE IS OVER 135 LBS AND HAD HER SEATBELT ON. I PULLED OVER AND PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL. DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED CAR AND LIGHT WENT OUT. THIS HAS OCCURRED PREVIOUSLY AND SOLUTION WAS THE SAME. I TOOK A PICTURE OF THE LIGHT WITH WIFE IN THE SEAT. REPORTED TO DEALERSHIP AND HE SAID SOMETIMES THE ONBOARD COMPUTER GETS CONFUSED AND THE RESTART CLEARS THE ISSUE. HE SAID THE WEIGHT WAS AN ISSUE ALTHOUGH FED GUIDELINES ARE 108 LBS. HE ALSO SAID THAT THE SEATBELT WOULD DO THE JOB AND THAT AIRBAGS WOULD ONLY RESULT IN INJURY TO THE PASSENGER... TOLD HIM I WAS NOT BUYING HIS BS. *TR
