Recalls and investigations

  1. Latches/locks/linkages, hood, latchJun 13, 2022

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Pathfinder vehicles. On certain Pathfinder vehicles, the secondary hood latch may malfunction and remain in the unlatched, unsecured, position when the hood is closed.

An unsecured hood could unexpectedly open while driving, obstructing the driver's view, and increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the bell crank assembly, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed March 26, 2025. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall are R22A2 R22A3 and R24B7.

  2. Exterior lighting, brake lights, switchJan 20, 2021

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2015 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles. The location of the brake light switch may cause the brake light switch relay to repeatedly open and close. Overtime, this can cause the relay to stick in the "ON" position, with the brake lights remaining illuminated even when the brakes are not applied. Additionally, this may interfere with the brake-shift interlock, allowing the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "Park" position, without depressing the brake pedal.

Continual illumination of the brake lights can prevent other drivers from realizing the vehicle is actually slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash. With the brake override activated, the driver will not be able to accelerate normally, increasing the risk of a crash. The driver can shift the vehicle out of the "PARK" position without depressing the brake, allowing the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of injury.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, either re-install the brake light switch or swap positions with the Automatic Speed Control Device (ASCD) switch; depending on the model year vehicle. In addition, the brake light relay will be replaced with a new one. All repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began March 1, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall PC786. Note: this recall supersedes 16V-380.

  3. Exterior lighting, brake lights, switchMay 31, 2016

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Pathfinder vehicles manufactured June 20, 2012, to June 13, 2013. The brake light switch may have been installed incorrectly causing the relay to make intermittent contact and repeatedly cycle. This may result in the relay remaining in the "ON" position, causing the brake lights to remain illuminated even when the brakes are not applied. Additionally, the brake light switch may interfere with the brake-shift interlock, allowing the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "Park" position, without depressing the brake pedal.

If the brake override is activated, the driver will not be accelerate normally, increasing the risk of a crash. If the brake lights remain illuminated, other drivers may fail to stop when the vehicle actually brakes, increasing the risk of a crash. If the driver inadvertently shift the vehicle out of the "PARK" position without depressing the brake, the vehicle may rollaway, increasing the risk of injury.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake light switch and, as necessary, replace the relay, free of charge. The recall began on July 25, 2016. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

  4. Air bags, sensor, occupant classificationApr 26, 2016

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, NV200, LEAF, Sentra, and Pathfinder, 2014-2016 Nissan NV200 Taxi, Infiniti QX60, QX60 Hybrid, and Q50 Hybrid, 2014-2017 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, 2015-2016 Nissan Murano, Murano Hybrid, and Chevrolet City Express, 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.

If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.

Nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet City Express owners will be notified by General Motors. Dealers will reprogram the Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) and OCS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue, and Sentra vehicles, and replace the OCS ECU in LEAF, NV200, NV200 Taxi, Pathfinder, Infiniti Q50, JX35, and QX60 and Chevrolet City Express vehicles, free of charge. Interim notices were sent to owners on May 31, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, Infiniti customer service at 1-888-833-3216 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.

  5. Air bags, frontalOct 20, 2015

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Altima and Pathfinder vehicles, 2013-2014 Nissan Sentra vehicles, 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles, 2014-2015 Infiniti QX60 vehicles and 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid vehicles. The affected vehicles received an incorrect occupant classification system (OCS) control unit during a repair. These OCS control units may incorrectly classify the front passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.

If the OCS does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger air bag would be deactivated. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the passenger.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will update the OCS software, free of charge. The recall began on November 30, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

  6. Structure, body, hood, hinge and attachmentsJan 26, 2015

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles manufactured June 20, 2012, to November 18, 2013, 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid vehicles manufactured July 18, 2013, to November 18, 2013, 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles manufactured November 29, 2011, to June 14, 2013, and 2014 QX60 vehicles manufactured May 16, 2013, to November 18, 2013, and 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid vehicles manufactured July 18, 2013, to November 18, 2013. In the affected vehicles the hood release cable assembly may have been installed incorrectly preventing the latching claw from fully engaging. The secondary latch may remain in the open position when the hood is closed.

If the primary hood latch is released and the secondary latch fails during operation of the vehicle, it could cause the hood to open during vehicle operation impairing the driver's vision, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will modify the angle of the hood release mechanism to provide additional length to the release cable, free of charge. The recall began on March 9, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

  7. Power train, automatic transmission, cooling unit and linesMar 26, 2014

Nissan North America (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013 Pathfinder vehicles manufactured April 18, 2012, through October 3, 2012, and equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). In the affected vehicles, the internal oil cooler (ITOC) hose may detach from the cooler due to inadequate clamping force, allowing transmission fluid to leak.

The loss of transmission fluid could cause the transmission to function improperly and the vehicle to stop accelerating, increasing the risk of a crash.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install an oil hose repair kit, free of charge. The recall began on May 12, 2014. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

  10. Service brakesApr 12, 2013

Nissan is recalling certain model year 2013 Pathfinder and Infiniti JX vehicles manufactured December 3, 2012, through January 29, 2013. The front brake torque member was improperly cast resulting in structural weakness. This can lead to premature failure and cracking.

If the brake torque member fails, the brake caliper may move and contact the inside of the road wheel, resulting in reduced braking, increasing the risk of a crash.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the manufacturing date of the torque members and replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on May 20, 2013. Owners may contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-647-7261.

  11. Air bagsMar 1, 2013

Nissan is recalling certain model year 2013 Altima, LEAF, Pathfinder, Sentra, and Infiniti JX35 vehicles. Sensors within the passenger Occupant Detection System (ODS) may have been manufactured out of specification. This may cause the system to malfunction and permanently suppress the passenger airbag.

If the vehicle is involved in a crash necessitating airbag deployment and the passenger airbag is suppressed, there may be an increased risk of personal injury.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the ODS sensors and replace them as neccessary, free of charge. The recall began on May 6, 2013. Owners may contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-647-7261.

THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM DEACTIVATED THE PASSENGER AIR BAG, AND ACTIVATED THE WARNING LIGHT, WITH A 200+ POUND PERSON SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, CENTERED IN THE SEAT AND UPRIGHT, AND SEATBELT ON, FOR OVER ONE HOUR. TOOK VIDEO SHOWING PERSON IN SEAT @ 55 MPH WITH LIGHT ON. DEALER AND NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED THEY CAN NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, THEREFORE, THERE IS NOTHING TO FIX, EVEN AFTER SHOWING THE DEALER THE VIDEO OF THE DEFECTIVE PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT. REQUESTED CORPORATE TECHNICIAN TO EXAMINE CAR, DEALER HAS NOT PROVIDED THIS SERVICE TO DATE (3 WEEKS LATER). DUE TO THE RANDOM FAULT, WE CAN NOT TRUST THE AIRBAG SYSTEM TO WORK AS DESIGNED, AND AS REQUIRED BY THE NHTSA RULE FMVSS208. *TR

  2. Power train, Jul 8, 2013

AS YOU DECELERATE FROM 50 -55 MPH AND SLOW DOWN TO 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO "SHUDDER", SIMILAR TO DRIVING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS THAT ARE TYPICALLY FOUND ALONG HIGHWAYS THAT ALERT DRIVERS THAT THEY ARE MOVING ONTO THE SHOULDER. AFTER 4-5 SECONDS, THE SHUDDER STOPS AND THE VEHICLE DRIVES NORMALLY. READING ON THE INTERNET, THIS APPEARS TO BE OCCURRING WITH A NUMBER OF VEHICLES AND MAY RESULT IN TRANSMISSION FAILURE OVER TIME. *TR

NOW, WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED APPROXIMATELY 800 MILES, IT NOW HAS 1100 MILES, THE VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS APPROXIMATELY 20 TIMES. THE PROBLEM IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE AND MORE FREQUENT, AND HAVING TWO KIDS, A 8 YEAR OLD AND 6 MONTH OLD, WE ARE KINDA SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE COMPUTER SCREEN ALSO SHOWN 3 TIMES, HAS SAID, KEY FAILED TO SYNC. *TR

BRAKES FAILED CAUSING ACCIDENT. RECALL RECEIVED 2 HOURS LATER. NISSAN SAYS PARTS WERE REPLACED BUT DID NOT CAUSE THE ACCIDENT. WHY SHOULD I BELIEVE THEM? *TR THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED. HE TRIED TO STAND ON THE BRAKES AS WELL AS STOMPED THE PEDAL WITH ONE FOOT, BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED UP THE DRIVEWAY HITTING HIS GARAGE DOOR AND THE SIDE OF HIS HOUSE. THE GARAGE DOOR CRUMBLED AND HIS OTHER VEHICLE, PUSHING IT INTO THE INNER PORTION OF THE GARAGE HITTING IT SEVERAL TIMES. ALSO PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE DRIVE. THE CONSUMER STATED A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE AIR BAG, BUT HE WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. ALSO, THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY WHEN HE HIT THE GARAGE DOOR. UPDATED 09/11/13

WHEN MY WIFE WHO IS 5"4' AND WEIGHS 110 LBS IS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG IS OFF AND WILL NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES AND THEY TELL ME EVERYTHING IS IN SPEC.NISSAN ALSO TOLD ME THAT IT IS IN SPEC AND THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY TELL ME THAT THE SENSORS IN THE SEAT ARE TO THE EXTREME LEFT AND MY WIFE WILL HAVE TO SIT TO THE LEFT AND ERECT. *TR

WHEN I HAD MY NEW CAR FOR ONLY TWO WEEKS, WHILE DRIVING ON SIDE STREETS, I STARTED TO HEAR RUMBLING LIKE I WAS GOING OVER ROUGH ROAD OR A WARNING STRIP AT RANDOM TIMES WHEN I ACCELERATED. THEN IT ALSO HAPPENED WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE ON THE PARKWAY. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY STATED THAT THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR IN A WEEK LATER WHEN THEY HAD A LOANER CAR AVAILABLE. I TOOK IT ON JUNE12TH, AND THEY STILL STATED THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I STARTED TO RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IN THE 2013 PATHFINDERS.WHEN I TOLD THEM I KNEW THIS WAS A COMMON TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, THE DEALER IS STILL STATING THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT, BUT NOW WANT TO REPLACE MY TORQUE CONVERTER WHEN THEY GET THE PART THAT IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE. I CALLED NISSAN AND HAVE ASKED FOR A REFUND OF MY MONEY. I DO NOT WANT A BRAND NEW CAR WITH TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS! I CAN'T USE IT TO TOW MY BOAT AND AM AFRAID TO GO ANY LONG DISTANCES. THEY STILL HAVE NOT CALLED ME BACK. HOW CAN THEY CONTINUE TO SELL THIS CAR WHEN THERE ARE NATIONWIDE PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION? *TR

  12. Power train, Engine, Jun 22, 2013

JUNE 23, 2013 - I PURCHASED MY 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER IN MARCH. IT HAS HAD THE FOLLOWING PROBLEM SINCE I GOT IT. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOPPING, OR WHEN INCREASING SPEED WHEN TURNING, THE VEHICLE SPUTTERS. IT SOMETIMES VIBRATES AND ALSO FEELS LIKE I'M GOING OVER SOMETHING ROUGH. IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO SHUT COMPLETELY OFF WHEN IT DOES THIS. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON NOW FOR 3 1/2 MONTHS.. I HAVE CONTACTED CONSUMER AFFAIRS BUT AS OF TODAY, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS CONSISTENT EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT AND IS GETTING WORSE. *TR

  13. Air bags, Jun 19, 2013

I BROUGHT THE CAR ON 6/14/13 TO GET THE FAULTY AIR BAG SENSOR DONE AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP ONLY TO WASTE OUR TIME SINCE THEY TOLD ME THAT "THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VIN AND THAT EVERYTHING WAS WORKING FINE." I EXPLAINED AGAIN THAT THE AIR BAG OFF LIGHT WOULD STAY ON WHEN KIDS OR MY WIFE WOULD SEAT ON IT. THEY SAID "IT IS A KNOWN GLITCH" BUT THAT EVERYTHING WORKS FINE AND "I SHOULD NOT WORRY ABOUT IT." I CONTACTED NISSAN IMMEDIATELY. I SPOKE TO NISSAN COSTUMER AFFAIRS "WESLEY" WHO SAID THAT WOULD LOOK INTO THIS TO GET THE ISSUE RESOLVED. HE ALSO STATED THAT HE WOULD CONTACT THE WHITE PLAINS DEALER. SOUNDED GREAT. HE CALL ME ON 6/17/13 TO TELL ME THAT INDEED THE DEALER "DID EVERYTHING, THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO" AND SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VIN - THAN EVERYTHING WAS OK. THIS IS HYSTERICAL. I HAD ACTUALLY RECEIVED AN EMAIL DIRECTLY FROM NISSAN USA ON 6/15/13 STATING THAT "A REVIEW OF OUR RECORDS INDICATES THAT THE VEHICLE WITH THE VEHICLE SERIAL NUMBER LISTED ABOVE IS INVOLVED IN THE RECALL AS FOLLOWS: OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (OCS) SENSOR. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRS PERFORMED ON YOUR VEHICLE. THESE REPAIRS ARE FREE OF CHARGE TO YOU." HE FIRST SOUNDED CONFUSED BUT THEN HE PROCEEDED TO EXPLAIN (AS THE DEALERSHIP) THAT "IF SOMEONE BETWEEN 90 AND 120 POUNDS SIT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE - THE LIGHT WEIGHT MIGHT NOT TRIGGER THE SENSOR." I ASKED HIM WHERE I WOULD BE ABLE TO FIND THIS TECHNICAL INFORMATION IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. HE SAID THAT IT WOULD NOT BE THERE. AND WHAT ABOUT THE RECALL LETTER? I ASKED HIM IF HE COULD PROVIDED AN OFFICIAL LETTER STATING THAT INDEED THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT OFF IS NOT AN ISSUE AND/OR A SAFETY CONCERN. NATURALLY, HE REPLIED THAT HE COULD NOT PROVIDE SUCH A LETTER. END OF STORY, MY LAWYER-WIFE WILL NOW SEND A FORMAL LEGAL LETTER TO FILE A COMPLAIN WITH NISSAN. *TR

  15. Power train, Jun 13, 2013

ON MY NEW 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER SL 4X4 I AM HAVING THE FOLLOWING PROBLEM. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, OR INCREASING SPEED FROM A TURN, THE CAR SPUTTERS, POWER FLUCTUATES, AND SOMETIMES IT VIBRATES AND FEELS LIKE I AM DRIVING OVER A GRID. SHIFTING IS ROUGH WHILE DRIVING, AND THE CAR SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE IT'S GOING TO STALL, OR LIKE I'M DRIVING A STANDARD TRANSMISSION AND I'VE LET OFF THE CLUTCH TOO SOON. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING AND STARTED INCONSISTENTLY WHERE I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS ROAD CONDITIONS AND NOT THE CAR, BUT THE PROBLEM NOW OCCURS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR, IT'S GETTING WORSE, AND I'M EXPECTING ANY DAY FOR IT TO BREAK DOWN ON ME. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW ON 2/26/13, SO I'VE HAD IT JUST OVER 3 MONTHS. *TR

  16. Service brakes, Jun 13, 2013

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND DECELERATING TO AN INTERSECTION, THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN ENGAGED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 13V139000 (SERVICE BRAKES) HOWEVER, THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,000.

  17. Power train, Jun 10, 2013

WHEN MY VEHICLE IS NOT EXPERIENCING SHUDDERING AT EITHER 10-20 MPH OR 40 MPH, IT WILL EXHIBIT A NEW CONDITION AT THOSE SPEEDS. CURRENTLY I AM SEEING THE ENGINE REV UP 300-500 RPMS PRIOR TO THE TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKING UP AND A LOSS OF ACCELERATION (FEELS HESITANT) UNTIL THE ENGINE RPMS RETURN TO THE LOWER LEVEL THEY WERE AT PRIOR TO THE REV UP. MY SERVICE REP SAID HE DID NOT REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION CONTROLLER SO THIS MAY BE A "LEARNED CONDITION" TO OFFSET THE SHUDDERING I HAD BEEN AND STILL DO EXPERIENCE. *TR

  18. Power train, Jun 10, 2013

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THAT DAY I EXPERIENCE THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING WHILE ACCELERATING LIGHTLY BETWEEN 10-20 MPH FEELING AS THOUGH I WAS GOING OVER A WARNING STRIP. IT WOULD OCCUR DURING TURNS AND WHEN I SLOWED NEARLY TO A STOP FOR A STOPLIGHT AND CARS AHEAD OF ME AND THEN ACCELERATE THROUGH THAT 10-20 MPH. *TR

  19. Steering, Power train, Jun 5, 2013

WHILE DRIVING THE 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER THE VEHICLE WILL SHUDDER DURING ACCELERATION FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. IT IS INTERMITTENT AND MAKES A DRIVER THINK THEY HAVE GONE OFF THE ROAD AND YOU ARE RIDING ON A RUMBLE STRIP WHEN YOU ARE NOT ON A RUMBLE STRIP. THE EVENT IS VERY UNPREDICTABLE. IT FRIGHTENS THE DRIVER WHEN IT OCCURS AND IS VERY DISTRACTING WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE. *TR

  20. Steering, Jun 3, 2013

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL VIBRATION IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500. *TR

  21. Power train, Vehicle speed control, May 31, 2013

PURCHASED THIS CROSSOVER ON 12/14/2012. LOSS OF POWER HAS OCCURRED TWICE WHILE ACCELERATING FROM BETWEEN 15-30MPH WHILE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED. WHEN I TRIED TO FLOOR THE ACCELERATOR, THE RPM'S INCREASED BUT THE CVT DID NOT ENGAGE. HAD TO REMOVE FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR THEN REAPPLY FOR THE CVT TO RE-ENGAGE. CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON 5-31-13 WHO SAID MY VIN IS NOT PART OF ANY UPDATES/RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE. SAID TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR EVALUATION. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE 'JUDDER/SHUTTER' ABOUT 3-4 TIMES AS WE'LL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND IN THE CITY. I HAVE READ ON SOME DISCUSSION BOARDS THAT A 'FIX/PART' IS IN THE WORKS FOR LATE JUNE. *TR

  22. Power train, May 31, 2013

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE CAR GOES TO SHIFT GEARS IT START S SHUTTERING LIKE YOU ARE ROLLING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS. I TRIED TO CLIMB A SMALL HILL BY MY OFFICE AND THE CAR COULD NOT GET UP THE HILL. I LET OFF THE GAS AND THEN PRESSED THE GAS AGAIN AND IT FINALLY MADE IT. SOMETIMES WHILE TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC THE CAR LOSES POWER TO EXCEL. ALSO BOUGHT THIS CAR TO SPECIFICALLY TOW A TRAILER/BOAT AND HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT I SHOULD NOT TOW WITH IT. *TR

  23. Power train, May 29, 2013

DURING SLOW ACCELERATION FROM A FULL STOP, THE VEHICLE WILL VIBRATE/SHUDDER AS IF DRIVING OVER RUMBLE STRIP FOR A SECOND OR TWO USUALLY SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 15-25 MPH. THE VEHICLE STOPS ACCELERATING DURING THIS SHUTTER. THIS HAPPENS 3-5 TIMES A DAY. IT HAS ALSO OCCURRED AROUND 40 MPH, BUT MUCH LESS FREQUENTLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO DEEMED THE SHUTTERING CHARACTERISTIC FOR THE CVT DESIGN. THE DEALER ALSO INDICATED THAT NISSAN HAS NOT ISSUED ANY SERVICE BULLETINS ADDRESSING KNOWN CONCERNS FOR EITHER THE TRANSMISSION OR ENGINE IN THE 2013 MODEL YEAR PATHFINDER. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO CONSISTENTLY REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. IF THIS SHUTTERING WERE TO OCCUR AS I PULLED INTO TRAFFIC, I FEAR THIS MAY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.

  24. Power train, May 29, 2013

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21. *TR

  25. Power train, May 27, 2013

IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC FROM THE DOUBLETREE HOTEL AT I-85 TO EMORY HOSPITAL AT ABOUT 20 MPH WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHUTTER AND VIBRATE AS IT MOVED INTO THE NEXT GEAR RATIO IT HAPPENED THREE TIMES THAT DAY AND ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS BACK HOME WITH 6 TO 7 HUNDRED MILES ON THE CAR. THIS CAR HAS THE CVTRANSMISSION. NO PROBLEMS AT ANY OTHER SPEED. *TR
