My truck has internal ABS failure. 2015 Ram 1500. With the malfunction I lose power brakes, cruise control, traction control and all other ABS functions. There is a recall for other year trucks but not 2015 and they have the same exact issue. All of those lights light up on the dash upon start up.
Engine, Feb 15, 2025
On [XXX], I was driving my 2015 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel in [XXX] when all of the sudden it will not accelerate and a check engine lamp illuminated. It was a near-miss to getting into an accident because the truck drastically slowed-down and wouldn't continue to accelerate. Due to the urgency of the situation, I was prompted to bring the truck over to the nearest Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM dealership in Ontario. Scan diagnostics was initially performed and P0336 - Crankshaft Position Sensor Performance was detected. CDJR Dealership in Ontario further found out delamination and broken pieces on crankshaft tone wheel but only have addressed the recall pertaining to fuel pump (Recall No. 22V406000). The truck would exhibit prolong cranking followed by a "Service Electronic Throttle Control" warning sign that pops-up in the dashboard every time an attempt to start the engine will be made. This have been duplicated when at the dealership and multiple times after [XXX]. I have later found out that there was a prior recall associated with Loss of Crankshaft Position (Recall No.W58) that was launched back in August 20, 2020, however, the corrective measure didn't include parts replacement but only reprogramming. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles have: Service Recall W58/NHTSA 20V-475 that have been APPLIED (launched in March 20th, 2020; Repaired in March 13th, 2021 - reprogramming), and also Service Recall 66A / NHTSA 23V-411 that the dealership is NOT WANTING TO APPLY or COVER (launched in June 7th, 2023 - parts replacement). As such, there is a disconnect between the two Safety Recalls from Stellantis / FCA US LLC. Reference Weblinks: [XXX] Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L Diesel engines. The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 40 MPH, the vehicle started to stall and started running rough. The contact's wife turned off the vehicle; however, while attempting to restart the vehicle, the vehicle failed to restart. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with crankcase position sensor failure. The contact and the independent mechanic believed that the failure was connected to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact stated that the vehicle had previously been repaired under the recall. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired because the vehicle was no longer under recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

Service brakes, Feb 5, 2025
The ABS light came on and we were told we’d have to replace that part and learned there was a recall so the part is on back order. Although the year of our truck is 2015 I believe this relates to the recall for the other ram trucks considering it’s the same problem.
Steering, Feb 5, 2025
I’ve had a complete loss of steering control while driving on highway coming home from work last night. There was no warning it just failed. I was able to manhandle the truck on the highway and limp home. My first thought I had my power steering pump fail but when I couldn’t find a pump on my engine I google search the problem and found out that this is a known issue but my truck was not included in the recall issued back in 2016.. I was completely unaware my 2015 Ram 1500 had this issue until it failed last night on me. I’m afraid to take to the dealer because I’m sure this will be a large repair bill. I wish they would include my vehicle in the recall!!
Fuel/propulsion system, Feb 4, 2025
The check engine light has been on and the code and a message of fuel sender unit failure is on the message being displayed. The vehicle always shows empty even when filled. I never know if the the car is going to run out of fuel while I'm diving it on the road or highway. I have to keep very good records to estimate how many miles I'll get before needing to refill. I've seen recalls from other car makers for the same problem.

Electrical system, Service brakes, Jan 28, 2025
In August of 2024 I began receiving an error message in my vehicle stating "Service Electronic Breaking System" on the gauge cluster. I also noticed the dash lights indicating that the ABS and traction control were disabled. The vehicle remained in this state whenever the vehicle was running. While i was returning home from work i hit the breaks on the freeway and the breaks locked up and i began to slide due to the ABS not functioning properly. Thankfully there was no accident but obviously this is extremely unsafe and the vehicle cannot be driven in this condition. I made an appointment on August 26,2024 to have the vehicle inspected and serviced at the dealership where i purchased the vehicle. After some correspondence the service rep indicated that there were other vehicles in for service for the same issue. It is now 28 Jan 2025 as of the date of this submission and my vehicle has still been able to be repaired. After numerous inquires with the service department i was informed that the module in question was under Engineer Review at the manufacturer and they could not ship the part until that was complete. The ETA of completion has been pushed back several times ,everytime i enquire for an update and is currently projected at 19 February, I have also opened an inquiry with the manufacturer Ram Customer Care / Stellantis case for assistance and havent received much in the way of additional information or assistance.
Steering, Electrical system, Jan 22, 2025
While driving my truck with randomly loose power steering and this happens at all speeds. It will also make my dashboard go crazy move my dashboard measurement alol over the place like a haunted clock. It will also give me more messages such as service power steering, electronic throttle control, service shifter, service transmission, service airbags. This will then cause my car to not shift up or down a gear while driving. This will happen and then if I unplug my battery for 10 minutes or so it goes away and then will randomly come back same day or the next day. My power steering will go out whether I’m parked going 10 miles an hour or if I’m going 75 miles an hour which is a gigantic safety issue. My steering wheel will randomly lock up and my car with then to move left and right as it locks up. In addition the check engine will either light up or not light up and then will disappear. I did take my truck back to the dealership to where I purchased it and was not able to solve the issue they attempted to fix it for a total of 36 days two times of which they “fixed” it but then I’d be driving on the highway and it would be doing it all over again. This has been going on since October 21 2024 and is not safe to drive but don’t have a choice as it is my only means of transportation so I try to manage it the best I can. I see multiple posts online about the same thing I believe there needs to be a safety recall on this regarding the entire wiring system, the electronic power steering module or the electronic throttle module. This needs to be addressed.

Instrument cluster goes black. I have noticed a lot of people complaining about the same issue
Service brakes, Jan 15, 2025
The truck has 59,005 miles on it. Driving down the road the following alerts displayed: Service Antilock Brake System Service Electronic Brake System Service Trailer Brake System The truck is available for inspect. There were no symptoms prior to this event but has continually displays these warnings since the first time of displaying in October 2024. I have another car so I parked the truck and start it periodically but do not drive it. I was near home and able to drive there without incident. When I start the truck it immediately display the warnings. I am hesitant to drive it to an independent service center cause I don't know if the brake system will completely fail. In researching the warnings I found this to be a common issue with these trucks and found an NTSA recall for the same warnings for the truck but for different years.

This seems to have been recalled on many of the Ram trucks as recent as September 2024. Also doing a lot of research, this seems to have been an ongoing problem for Ram trucks 2014-2016. The dealerships currently do not have the replacement part # 68228991AD which will replace the original 68228991AA, AB, and AC. It is apparently in engineering review. With the snow my location just had, I can tell you I have lost traction on the road. I have also lost traction and had hard braking on dry pavement within the past few weeks which is why I took the truck to the mechanic and learned of the ABS Control Module needing replaced. This should be recalled on all of the Ram trucks not just the 2019, 2021-2024.

Electric power steering rack has failed. It's very, very hard to steer the vehicle. Happened when it was cold and snowy out. I'm lucky it occurred in my driveway, and I wasn't at speed on the highway! Dealer says it's a module in the steering rack. Quoted over 3k to replace the electronic power steering rack. I can't afford that... That kind of repair was never anticipated when I purchased this vehicle.

Exhaust manifold bolts failed resulting in a separation of the manifold from the engine block. Resulting in a loud “ticking” noise coming from the engine compartment. Vehicle was driven to a mechanic were new bolts were installed resulting in a several hundred dollar repair cost.

Truck loses power when you accelerate at any various moments. Forces you to put it in park and then I'll have to restart the engine and then it'll drive normal like nothing happen. Power steering is a little hard which cruise control doesn't work when this is happening.

On [XXX] numerous brake system warning dash lamps came on on your truck. I also noticed that once this happened the cruise control no longer works. The local RAM dealer could not inspect my truck for several days so I had an independent service center test it and he confirmed the anti-lock brake module had stopped working. I believe he also noted that error code(s) were detected. yes, it can be inspected. I drive the truck but do so without the use of the anti-lock brake system. Yes, the problem has been reproduced, and l've visited my local dealer and discussed the situation with them and they confirm that this has been an ongoing problem for over 2 years. Warning lamps only came on as soon as the problem started, though at the time I did not notice a problem as I did not have to slam on my breaks and make use of the anti-lock/anti-skid function. The service center and dealer both confirmed that the malfunctioning cruise control was definitely part of the module failure. Part # 68228991-AD (replaced part # 68228991-AB. Local dealer is Matt Bower in Baton Rouge, LA. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
