Drove from North Carolina to Wisconsin [XXX] for a vacation, second day, [XXX], in Wisconsin went to start up my truck and had a "Service Power Steering" light appear on my dash. Steering wheel was extremely stiff to turn left and right. I tried disconnecting the positive terminal on the battery with no success. I called 3 different Dodge dealers in Wisconsin to see if they had any information on the issue. I was then notified of a possible Electric Power Steering (EPS) failure. Being 1,800 miles from home, this was not very exciting to hear. I was able to disconnect both terminals of the battery and get my power steering back in order to white-knuckle drive back home with the hopes of not losing my power steering while driving through the mountains. I will be calling my local dealer tomorrow, October 16, 2024 to inquire about possible steps to resolve this issue going forward. ABS Modular is malfunctioning and recommended to be replaced. I have been waiting 1.5 years for this part and continue to be told it’s not available. My check engine light continues to be on and my car does not function as it should. The part is identified as needing to be fixed but no parts available. I’ve called multiple states and made over 100 calls over the year. I am stuck with a car not functioning correctly and told by RAM that I just need to wait. Thousands of people are waiting for this part I am told and other years have been recalled but not my year somehow. This is dangerous and my hands are tied. I am putting my family in danger daily driving or am out 20+k on a vehicle I can’t drive. This is ridiculous and not a decision I thought I’d have to make with a well known company like Ram.
Vehicle speed control, Engine, Oct 15, 2024
Dear NHTSA, I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my experience with my 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, particularly in relation to unresolved recalls and inadequate service from dealerships. Last year, I began experiencing significant issues with my truck, ultimately leading me to Southern Motors in Springfield. They diagnosed the problem as needing a new engine, which was concerning. However, my vehicle also had outstanding recalls, including one for the fuel pump, which I was informed they did not address and ended up being the issue with the engine in the first place but instead they informed me I would need to pay for a new engine roughly $20k. I then took my truck to Hayes Dodge Ram Jeep Chrysler in Gainesville, Georgia. While they did perform the recall for the fuel pump, I was charged $400 to update the system—an action I believed should have been covered under the recall. After this service, my truck continues to run poorly and still displays check engine lights related to a crankshaft sensor, which I understand is also under recall (number X94). This issue has not been addressed, further compounding my frustration. Given the circumstances, I am deeply concerned about the effectiveness of the recall process and the service I received. I would appreciate your investigation into this matter, as it not only affects my vehicle but potentially other consumers who may be facing similar issues with Ram trucks. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope to see improvements in the handling of recalls and service quality from dealerships.

I was driving on the highway when my power steering went completely out. I had no warning and had no idea what was happening. I could not steer my vehicle. There were other drivers all around me and they all had to avoid my truck. I gradually slowed down and was able to pull it off to the shoulder, almost getting in multiple accidents on the way. I called the closest dealer and they said it was a failure of the electrical power steering system. I was able to get my truck to the dealership. They inspected the truck and they said the part that failed was the power steering rack (Part #68628858AA) and that there was no recall for this system. My truck has now been in the shop for over two weeks and the dealership says this part is on backorder (Which is a clear indication that there is a bigger issue with this part). After doing some online research, I found there have been numerous reports of power steering issues and recalls for 2013-2016 Dodge Ram 1500s which makes me question why my vehicle wasn't included. This was a terrifying situation and I think this requires the attention of the NHTSA.

When driving the vehicle at 35 mph the vehicle jerks locks the wheels up and the vehicle revs up for a few seconds before returning to normal operational rpms. My vehicle has did this numerous times. Took it to dealership and been there for 2 months and said it was fixed the next day the vehicle did the same thing. Been an on-going issue for a year

The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle was towed to the residence and later restarted and driven to the local dealer who diagnosed that the tone wheel and crankshaft position sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V411000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 120,000.

ABS Module failed triggering BRAKE light service and ABS Service light, and the ESB light. 6 month + and counting to get this OEM module. Why are you not addressing the supply chain issue......

Driving on the highway and power steering failed. Almost got into an accident pulling off the highway. Power steering failure light came on the dashboard. Dealer told me the recall had nothing to do with my VIN. There was no accident to cause the problem. The truck is in overall great condition. I think there are many Ram 1500 trucks out there that fall under the 2016 power steering recall and mine is one of them. Quoted out $3,000 and no sign of a power steering rack available for who knows how long. Very discouraged and taken advantage of.

Service ABS Brake, Service Electronic Brake Throttle, Service Electronic Trailer Brake & Standard Brake dash lights are illuminated at all times. I have no Anti Lock Braking & Sway /Stability Control Light is on and I have No Stability nor anti sway control. This disrupts the Cruise Control from working. It has been confirmed by a local trusted mechanic shop. The Warning Lights have been on since June 2024. This is dangerous especially in rain and wet conditions. The truck has no traction control and fish tails at the slightest turn during acceleration.

Intermittent issue with power steering where the wheel becomes extremely hard to turn in both directions. Also have had issue where wheel will stop turning midway through a turn and when trying to return to center.
Suspension, Sep 16, 2024
Air suspension has failed multiple times. The latest making it impossible to drive. Traction control also goes out with the air suspension, it's extremely difficult to maintain control on even the smoothest roads because every little bump jars the whole truck. The truck has been in the shop and they just keep finding issues that shouldn't even affect the suspension, like the heated steering wheel and tire sensors that have the suspension suspended. Warning messages that pop up include: service electronic breaking system, service trailer brake, service air suspension, check engine light has been on and off with the suspension issues and traction control light as well.

The crankshaft sensor and turn wheel had a recall of 2015. My Vin.# Did not make the list. Every where on line said the turn wheel magnets started breaking just after 100,000 miles. Mine broke just under 108,000 miles. It cost $2,969.33 to fix this. I want re-embursed!!!! The year, the millage, the problem all match up for this truck to be on the recall. They said Mine just needed an update. Wrong! It broke just like the others and cost me almost $3000. The mechanic called the magnetic piece that broke in the transmission the (turn wheel ) I think. Please look into this.
