Visibility, power window devices and controlsOct 22, 2015
Toyota Motor Company (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Tundra, Sequoia, Corolla, Corolla Matrix and Scion xB, 2008-2011 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, 2007 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2009 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2006-2011 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris, and 2009-2010 Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. During the manufacturing of the Power Window Master Switch (PWMS), grease lubricant may have been inconsistently applied to the sliding electrical contacts.
If the sliding electrical contacts are not protected by lubricant, debris and moisture that get into the switch may cause a short circuit and the switch assembly may overheat and melt, increasing the risk of a fire.
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the switch, applying a lubricant if no abnormality is found. If abnormality is found, the PWMS circuit board will be replaced, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 20, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is C0M.

Air bags, frontal, driver side, inflator moduleApr 9, 2014
Toyota is recalling certain model year 2006-2008 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris, 2008-2010 Highlander, and 2009-2010 Tacoma, Corolla, Corolla Matrix and General Motors Pontiac Vibe vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the steering column assembly contains electrical connections to the driver's airbag module housed in a spiral cable assembly, which includes a Flexible Flat Cable (FFC). Due to the shape and location of the FFC's retainer, the FFC could become damaged when the steering wheel is turned.
If the FFC is damaged, connectivity to the driver's air bag module could be lost and the air bag deactivated. The failure of the driver's air bag to deploy in the event of a crash that typically necessitates deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver.
Toyota will notify the Toyota vehicle owners, and General Motors will notify the Pontiac Vibe owners. Toyota sent owners an interim notification letter in May 2014 to advise owners of the recall. Toyota will mail owners a second letter when remedy parts are available. General Motors sent Pontiac Vibe owners an Interim letter on June 20, 2014 notifying them that parts are currently unavailable. General Motors sent notices to the Pontiac Vibe owners on September 15, 2014, that a remedy is available. The recall began on October 27, 2014. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331. Owners may contact General Motors at 1-800-762-2737.

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 Camry, Camry Hybrid, RAV4, Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Tundra, Sequoia, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Yaris, Scion xB, Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. The power window master switch assemblies in some of these vehicles were built using a less precise process for lubricating the internal components of the switch assemblies. Irregularities in this lubrication process may cause the power window master switch assemblies to malfunction and overheat.
If the switch overheats, it may melt, possibly resulting in a fire.
Toyota will notify its owners, and dealers will inspect the switch and apply a special grease that inhibits heat build up or replace any switch damaged by the defect, free of charge. Toyota owners that experience a problem with a switch should not attempt to make repairs, but should contact their Toyota dealer or the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331. General Motors will contact the Pontiac Vibe owners affected by this recall and GM dealers will inspect and repair switches as necessary. Those owners may contact Pontiac Customer Care at 1-800-762-2737.

Vehicle speed control, accelerator pedalJan 27, 2010
TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 HIGHLANDER, MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 COROLLA, VENZA AND MATRIX PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAN GET STUCK IN THE WIDE OPEN POSITION DUE TO ITS BEING TRAPPED BY AN UNSECURED OR INCOMPATIBLE DRIVER'S FLOOR MAT. THIS RECALL IS AN EXPANSION OF A CAMPAIGN OF 3.8 MILLION OTHER TOYOTA VEHICLES ANNOUNCED IN 2009 FOR THE SAME ISSUE (SEE 09V-388).
A STUCK OPEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY RESULT IN VERY HIGH VEHICLE SPEEDS AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH, SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
TOYOTA WILL MODIFY OR REPLACE THE ACCELERATOR PEDALS ON THE SUBJECT VEHICLES. FLOOR SURFACE MODIFICATIONS ARE ALSO BEING CONSIDERED AND WILL BE INCLUDED FOR ANY MODEL FOR WHICH IT IS DEEMED APPROPRIATE. INITIALLY, DEALERS WILL BE INSTRUCTED ON HOW TO RESHAPE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FOR THE REPAIR. AS REPLACEMENT PARTS WITH THE SAME SHAPE AS THE MODIFIED PEDAL BECOME AVAILABLE, THEY WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE DEALERS FOR THE REPAIR. CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE HAD THE PEDAL RESHAPE REMEDY COMPLETED WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE A NEW PEDAL IF THEY DESIRE, AFTER REPLACEMENT PEDALS BECOME AVAILABLE. IN ADDITION, TOYOTA WILL REPLACE ANY TOYOTA ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MAT IN A SUBJECT VEHICLE WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED MAT, FREE OF CHARGE. FOR THOSE CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE THE PREVIOUS DESIGN ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MAT BUT DO NOT NEED OR WANT THE NEWLY DESIGNED ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MAT, TOYOTA WILL RECOVER THE PREVIOUS DESIGN ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MAT AND REIMBURSE ITS PRICE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN MARCH 30, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.

TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 AVALON, MODEL YEAR 2007-2010 CAMRY, MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 COROLLA, COROLLA MATRIX, RAV4, MODEL YEAR 2010 HIGHLANDER, MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 SEQUOIA, AND MODEL YEAR 2007-2010 TUNDRA VEHICLES. DUE TO THE MANNER IN WHICH THE FRICTION LEVER INTERACTS WITH THE SLIDING SURFACE OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL INSIDE THE PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY, THE SLIDING SURFACE OF THE LEVER MAY BECOME SMOOTH DURING VEHICLE OPERATION. IN THIS CONDITION, IF CONDENSATION OCCURS ON THE SURFACE, AS MAY OCCUR FROM HEATER OPERATION (WITHOUT A/C) WHEN THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY IS COLD, THE FRICTION WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS OPERATED MAY INCREASE, WHICH MAY RESULT IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECOMING HARDER TO DEPRESS, SLOWER TO RETURN, OR, IN THE WORST CASE, MECHANICALLY STUCK IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION.
THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY BECOME HARD TO DEPRESS, SLOW TO RETURN TO IDLE, OR, IN THE WORST CASE, MECHANICALLY STUCK IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A REINFORCEMENT BAR IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHICH WILL ALLOW THE PEDAL TO OPERATE SMOOTHLY. GM WILL NOTIFY OWNERS FOR THE PONTIAC VIBE PLEASE SEE 10V-018. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON FEBRUARY 5, 2010 AND WILL BE COMPLETED ON MARCH 15, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.

No police report was filed. The vehicle was totaled and towed to a towing company. Additionally, the contact stated in 2021 while reversing from a parking space, as the vehicle was driving forward, it veered to the left and crashed into a tree. The vehicle was towed to the to be diagnosed and repaired. Per the contact, the dealer offered no diagnosis or reason for the acceleration. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.
Vehicle speed control, Other or unspecified, Service brakes, Jul 10, 2022, crash
Vehicle speed control / sudden unintended acceleration. This was NOT a "misapplication of pedal" by driver! It was clearly a mechanical failure—apparently accelerator pedal (not floor mat, which was secured on its pegs). NO warning lamp, msg, symptom prior to crash. Afterward, saw NHTSA rpts others FIXED speed control issue & same prob STILL recurred! My VIN wasn't listed as unrepaired (likely the original owner repaired recall issue/s)—yet car was still dangerous! At slow speed, approx 1-2 mph, I was entering my garage in usual way, turning R. Car abruptly sped up uncontrollably (self-accelerated); couldn't stop it! Crashed thru garage doorpost & wall, then backyard fence. Lucky I'm alive & no one in yard. VERY traumatic! Physical injury (neck/back) helped by ibuprofen. FWIW air bag didn't deploy. AAA said they'd only tow for repair, not inspection. I wasn't going to repair; I'd NEVER trust driving that car again & wouldn't sell to ANYONE to drive, due to grave concern same issue'd recur! Available for inspection at PickNPull, Moss Landing, CA. PnP corp agreed they'd haul away ONLY for its OTHER parts—order taker understood it had UNTRUSTED accelerator pedal / vehicle speed control. They also promised me they wouldn't let anyone drive it! Of 2009 Corolla NHTSA's 1,523 rpts, "vehicle speed control" is 3rd highest, far > nearly all other rpts. Below, a few of MANY related examples. (Note: dates may be either report or incident dates.) 10/26/21 NHTSA #11438174; 5/31/17 #10992371; 7/16/16 #10885246 ("CAR WAS REPAIRED UNDER RECALL...STILL AN ISSUE WITH UNINTENDED ACCELERATION.); 6/3/16, #10872355; 10/2/14 #10640760 ("VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT FAILURE RECURRED"); 9/30/14 #10640098; 9/25/14 #10639073; 11/16/13 #10552563; 3/4/12 #10450183; 2/10/12 #10450183 ("ALREADY HAD ALL OF TOYOTA'S "RECALL" REMEDIES";) 1/29/12 #10447756; 6/22/10 #10343426 (recall work had been done); 6/23/10 #10340943 (work had been done); 6/6/10 #10339969; 5/18/10 #10330952.
Vehicle speed control, Oct 26, 2021
My 2009 Toyota Corolla is once again exhibiting undesired acceleration. Toyota has deemed this vehicle repaired in response to the recall that covered this issue. I was told it was caused by the floormat which it obviously was not. The accelerator pedal sticks and they will not fix it under the previous recall. Is there any steps I can take to get this situation resolved? I was told the car is no longer under warranty so any repairs regarding this issue would be put on me.

The car speed variable when I try speed up became slow or sometimes it speed up one time it stops in the middle of rail crossing and completely stop then I moved out and the car pushed up other side and the car accelerated not working properly nod the fuel system also I have big doubt about this car!
Vehicle speed control, Engine, Dec 3, 2020
MY CAR IS A MANUAL. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 25MPH WHEN IN BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH THE CAR ENGINE REVVED UP TO ABOUT 5K OR 6K RPM. I TRIED TO JUST HIT THE GAS BUT IT WOULDN'T GO BACK DOWN. I DID NOT RELEASE THE CLUTCH. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT SO IT WOULDN'T DO THAT AGAIN. IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER THAT AND I DID THE SAME THING BY RESTARTING IT. I NOTICED A DIFFERENT PRESSURE IN THE GAS PEDAL WITH MY FOOT DURING THIS OCCURRENCE. AFTER THE SECOND TIME, IT DID NOT OCCUR AGAIN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPEND. IT HAPPENED ABOUT 10,000MILES BEFORE. THIS HAPPENED AT ABOUT 101,500MILES.
Vehicle speed control, May 23, 2018
AT RANDOM TIMES THE CAR BEGINS TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN WITH NO INTERFERENCE TO THE PEDAL. IT WILL KEEP ACCELERATING UNTIL I HIT THE PEDAL AND PULL UP ON THE PEDAL WITH MY FOOT. IN NEUTRAL THE ENGINE WILL REV UP TO OVER 6,000 RPM AND CONTINUE GOING UP. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING A NORMAL SPEED AND IS RANDOM.

Vehicle speed control, May 31, 2017
ON 21 OCTOBER 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 9:30 AM, I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WITH MY 2009 COROLLA. I WAS PARKING THE CAR IN THE PARKING LOT AT THE EMBASSY SUITES HOTEL IN NORMAN, OK WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. I REVERSED THE VEHICLE TO STRAIGHTEN IT UP IN IN A PARKING SPACE; THEN, I PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE TO PULL FORWARD. AS THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD, IN AN INSTANT, THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SELF -ACCELERATED TO FULL THROTTLE. WITH MY LEFT FOOT ON THE FOOT REST PEDAL (DEAD PEDAL) AND RIGHT FOOT FULLY DEPRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM FUNCTIONED PROPERLY MAKING AN AUDIBLE CLICKING SOUND AS THE CAR CONTINUED DARTING FORWARD AT FULL THROTTLE. WITH THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY A 30 DEGREE ANGLE TO THE CURB IN FRONT OF THE PARKING SPACE, THE FORWARD MOMENTUM OF THE VEHICLE WITH THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM FULLY ENGAGED, THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL BOUNCED OVER THE CURB, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL STOPPED AGAINST THE CURB AND THE ENGINE SELF-DECELERATED. AS THE ENGINE DECELERATED, AN AUDIBLE CLICKING SOUND COULD BE HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT THAT STOPPED AS THE ENGINE RETURNED TO AN IDLE. I HAVE NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE TO SELF-ACCELERATE TO FULL THROTTLE, NOR CAN I EXPLAIN WHY IT SELF-DECELERATED BACK TO AN IDLE. POSSIBLY, THE VEHICLE HITTING THE CURB WITH THE DRIVER'S FRONT WHEEL AND BOUNCING OVER THE CURB COULD HAVE CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SELF-DECELERATE. THERE WAS NO PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE INVOLVED IN THE INCIDENT. HAD A PERSON BEEN WALKING IN FRONT OF MY CAR IN THE PARKING LOT DURING THE SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION EVENT, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IF NOT KILLED. THE FOWLER TOYOTA DEALERSHIP OF NORMAN, OK EVALUATED THE VEHICLE AND CONCLUDED THE INCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY MISAPPLICATION OF PEDAL. AN EDR WAS DOWNLOADED, EVALUATED AND INCONCLUSIVE.

I WAS STOPPED AT A CROSS SECTION. STARTED TO TURN LEFT, GAVE THE CAR GAS AND THE PETAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO ACCELERATION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHUT THE CAR OFF, STARTED IT AND TRIED TO REV UP THE ENGINE. NOTHING HAPPENED. HAD IT TOWED TO MY LOCAL GARAGE.

MY WIFE WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND WHEN SHE HIT HER BRAKES THE CAR TOOK OFF JUST LIKE BEEN REPORTED WITH UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND WITNESS EVEN SAW HER BRAKE LIGHTS ON AND THE CAR WAS PUT IN PARK AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL REVVING VERY HIGH LIKE THE ACCELERATOR WAS STUCK WIDE OPEN. THIS CAR WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL AND THE PEDAL AND FLOOR MATS WERE REPLACED. IT APPEARS THERE STILL AN ISSUE WITH THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. NOW WE HAVE TO FIX THE DAMAGE TO OUR CAR AND THEN ONE SHE HIT. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED WHY CARS ARE STILL HAVING THIS ISSUE SOMEONE COULD OF DIED BECAUSE OF THIS FLAW IN THE CAR.

I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WITH 2 CHILDREN IN BACK, WHEN CAR HIT 60 MPH... IT ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN TO 90 MPH AND WOULD NOT STOP (HAD FOOT ALL WAY DOWN ON BREAK). AFTER PROB 30 SECONDS, THE ACCELERATOR WENT DOWN AND I PULLED OFF THE NEAREST EXIT. IF THERE WAS MORE TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAY, THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT ME AND MY CHILDREN WOULD HAVE CRASHED AND BEEN KILLED.

TAKATA RECALL: HOW COULD THIS HAVE A RECALL AND YOUR COMPANY IS STALLING TO COMPLETE THIS RECALL WHEN YOU ARE KNOWING THAT WHEN DRIVEN WE CAN GET INTO A MAJOR FATAL CAR ACCIDENT WITH THE AIRBAGS FORCING PRESSURE AGAINST OUR BODIES AND EVEN CAN BURN OUR FACE AND MORESO DEATH CAN APPEAR DURING THIS INCIDENT. I WAS SO FRIGHTENED TO THINK I SEE THE AIRBAG 6 SECOND LIGHT LIGHT UP AND BLINK DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THANK THE LORD THAT NOTHING HAPPENED TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR A 36O TURN MULTPLE CRASH ON THE RAIN, MUDSLIDE ROADS..

I HAVE A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA (LE). I BOUGHT IT ALMOST EXACTLY 3 YEARS AGO WITH ABOUT 12,300 MILES ON IT. CURRENTLY, IT DOES NOT HAVE 50K. I HAVE TO DRIVE DOWNTOWN FOR NURSING SCHOOL, IT TAKES ROUGHLY 20-30 MINUTES. THE VERY TERRIFYING AND INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT I HAVE BEEN HAVING IS THAT I WILL BE DRIVING 65MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND IT WILL SUDDENLY JUST DROP DOWN TO 30/40MPH. DUE TO THIS ISSUE, I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN A CRASH. I WILL CHANGE LANES THINKING MY CAR WILL ACCELERATE TO PASS SOMEONE AND IT WILL JUST DROP DOWN TO 30MPH! ALSO, WHILE I AM IDLE, IT WILL SHAKE AND REV..SO THE RPM WILL BE UP CLOSE TO 2; YET, I AM IDLE! I HAVE READ OF OTHERS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR ISSUES. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS AND I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED SOONER. THE WORST PART IS NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG. I TOOK IT AND HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST RUN, IT SAID ONE OF THE IGNITION COILS WAS FAULTY..ON A 2009 TOYOTA WITH LESS THAN 50K MILES...THAT DOESN'T SOUND, RIGHT HUH. WELL, I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY GAVE ME A NEW BATTERY, AN OIL CHANGE AND RAN ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TEST (AFTER SWITCHING THE IGNITION COIL(B) TO ANOTHER (ACORD). IT RECORDED NOTHING. I SPENT $500 IT WAS FINE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING. I AM VERY ANGRY WITH TOYOTA FOR NOT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE, ESPECIALLY SINCE OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED IT AND IT IS DANGEROUS. MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS IS AT RISK.

THE HIGH BEAMS ON THE HEADLIGHTS COME ON WITHOUT THE CONTROL BEING TOUCHED. THIS BEGAN WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR & STILL DOES. AT FIRST IT WOULD HAPPEN AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY BUT NOW IT HAPPENS ONLY WHEN IT IS DARK OR GETTING DARK. THIS COULD IMPAIR THE VISION OF THE DRIVER OF AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. IT IS MOST DANGEROUS ON NARROW STREETS. THERE ARE OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT OCCUR FROM TIME TO TIME SUCH AS THE CRUISE CONTROL, POWER MIRRORS, AIR CONDITIONER, DRIVING & DASH LIGHTS NOT WORKING. ALSO THE DOME LIGHT HAS REMAINED ON CAUSING THE BATTERY TO RUN DOWN .THESE LATTER PROBLEMS DO NOT SEEM TO POSE THE THREAT THAT THE HEADLIGHTS DO BUT THEY SEEM TO BE CONNECTED & THEY ARE A DISTRACTION THAT COULD CAUSE PROBLEMS. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES BUT THEY NEVER CORRECTED THE PROBLEM.

TOYOTA SENT ME AN UNDATED NOTICE OF A LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN TO INSTALL SMART STOP TECHNOLOGY. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE INSTALLATION, TOYOTA SAID I FIRST HAD TO HAVE AN INSPECTION BECAUSE I HAD ACTUALLY EXPERIENCED AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION THOUGH THERE WAS NO DAMAGE OR INJURY. DESPITE MY DAILY PHONE CALLS, THEY HAVE YET TO SCHEDULE THAT INSPECTION AND TO INSTALL SMART STOP, LEAVING ME WITHOUT A CAR BECAUSE THEY TELL ME NOT TO DRIVE MINE UNTIL SMART STOP IS INSTALLED. *TR

MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE COROLLA WITH A FRIEND IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. SHE ENTERED THE DRIVEWAY AT A LOCAL STRIP MALL. SHE PROCEEDED TO TURN LEFT INTO A PARKING STALL AND WAS PREPARING TO APPLY THE BRAKES WHEN THE COROLLA SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND MOUNTED A RAISED LANDSCAPED AREA IN FRONT OF THE STALL. THE COROLLA TRAVELED ABOUT 15 FEET BEFORE IT STRUCK A LARGE, METAL, ELECTRICAL UTILITY BOX AND STOPPED. BOTH MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIEND WERE SEAT BELTED AND WERE NOT INJURED. SKID MARKS ON THE ASPHALT PAVEMENT APPEAR TO INDICATE THAT THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL WAS LOCKED AS THE COROLLA ACCELERATED. INVESTIGATORS FROM TOYOTA AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECTED THE COROLLA AND COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. I WAS THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THIS WAS THE ONLY INSTANCE WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I NO LONGER OWN THE CAR..UPDATED 11/03/14 *BF UPDATED 8/5/2015*JS

I WAS BACKING UP IN A PARKING LOT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND MY CAR JUST SPED BACKWARDS AND I RAMMED INTO A POLE. MY ENTIRE TRUNK WAS SMASHED IN. I HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED AND IT STILL LEAKS WATER AS OF TODAY. I PAID APPROXIMATELY $2K TO $3K TO HAVE IT FIXED. THIS ALL HAPPENED BEFORE I KNOW ABOUT THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM. *TR

EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW I ALWAYS NOTICED THAT THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I AM SLOWING DOWN TO STOP AND PUT ON THE BRAKES, I FEEL THE CAR SURGES BEFORE IT STOPS. WE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT THAT TIME WHEN THE CAMRY/LEXUS FLOOR MAT INCIDENTS WERE IN THE NEWS. I THINK THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THAT AND OUR BRAKES WERE FIXED BY THE DEALERSHIP. BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS TO THIS DAY. I ALSO FEEL AN ENGINE SURGE ON MY SISTER'S NEW 2013 COROLLA. *TR
