  1. Service brakes, Apr 30, 2025

Feb 06,2025 Manufacturer Recall Number25TB04 NHTSA Recall Number25V058 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available Summary The rear brake hoses in the subject vehicles can be damaged over time if there is enough build-up of mud and dirt inside the rear wheels from operating under certain off-road conditions. Safety Risk This can result in a brake fluid leak, increasing the risk of crash. Mileage is under 4K now. Truck was paid off for over $40k and I can't drive it the way intended. They have informed me once regarding the recall via email and when getting routine service the service department was aware of recall and stated to just not drive my truck in 4x4 mode. That's why I bought this truck. The 4x4 mode.

  2. Power train, Apr 28, 2025

The transmission slams gears, looses power when shifting on acceleration, and goes into a neutral while in parking lots at low speeds. The truck also while stopped will shutter and feel like it just got hit.

  3. Electrical system, Service brakes, Fuel/propulsion system, Apr 18, 2025

I have a new 2024 Toyota Tacoma that I purchased December 2024. my dashboard lit up the morning of Thursday, April 17. Drive start warning on the dashboard and a secondary breaking malfunction warning I contacted my local Toyota dealer and informed him that my vehicle is giving me warnings and I only have 13,000 miles on the vehicle. I took the vehicle and they told me that it was the fuel pump they replaced the fuel pump return the vehicle to me, and before I could leave the parking lot both codes on the dashboard shut up again and the vehicle would not move. I am writing this report to document what is going on with the vehicle. I believe that it is a lemon and there’s something majorly wrong with it. I brought the vehicle brand new in December and again it’s only has 13,000 miles on it right now.

  4. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Apr 16, 2025

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tacoma. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V058000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

  5. Structure, Apr 16, 2025

Hood shakes / flutters violently at highway speeds. Problem has persisted for the first 10,000 miles of driving and presents a safety hazard from fatigue weakening the hood to the point of failure.

  6. Other or unspecified, Apr 2, 2025

My concerns are with the remote capabilities of this Toyota Tacoma that has been lent to us by the i5 dealership in chehalis wa. We are using this vehicle while they complete repairs on our truck. Home link, Apple Music, remote connect, Sirius XM, and other functionalities are being used for surveillance, stalking, spying and remotely unlocking the vehicle. The truck has been broken into at least 3 times, twice my debit cards were stolen and the other time a sd card was put into the truck. Initially I believed this could’ve been something I inadvertently did but when I saw the pictures on the card I knew this wasn’t the case. My family and I have been under attack by a dod vendor, [XXX] , who is putting forth an extraordinary effort to criminally impersonate me by linking all of my families electronic devices to a LAN that is managed by him. The LAN allows him to then add mdm to the individual devices and he has restricted me from obtaining any help with his intrusions for the last two years. Issues such as this, that should be easily addressed, become monumental tasks. I attempted to submit this report 2 times last night to no avail. I then called in to the number and was told they don’t take reports of this nature and that I should call the manufacturer. A google search told me this claim was untrue, so here I am, back here attempting to once again complete the report. For someone who wants nothing other than my demise to have control over a vehicle I’m being forced to drive is cause for great concern. I do not know what other automations he has enabled but I can also see that the homelink has also been set up in some capacity. The screen in the truck states that my speed and location may not be accurately reflected on other displays. There appear to be WiFi and hotspot connections that we have been unsuccessful connecting to, which is fine..but their mere presence concern me. 7. Steering, Lane departure, Mar 5, 2025

Lane keeping will kamikaze the vehicle on to exit ramps or exit only lanes when engaged at a highway speed. This seems most common when the truncated lane markers, usually used on exit-only lanes, and not the full length lane markers (the center line markings). Example: Vehicle is traveling at a static heading, freeway speed, two lane limited access freeway, driver in control, all lane keeping and adaptive features engaged. When an exit lane approaches on right, vehicle abruptly deviates to the exit lane with zero driver intent or inputs. Once vehicle system realizes the error, system alerts, notifies of a lane departure, and disables the lane keeping. Particularly problematic is that vehicle actively fights driver inputs to restore the intended course as it appears to believe the driver is in error. This is not a one-off occurrence. It is very consistent. To the point when I can anticipate, disable the system or counter steer to keep the vehicle course straight. It seems the vehicle cannot properly identify the shortened / truncated pavement markings correctly, leading to this undesirable course adjustment.

  8. Steering, Lane departure, Feb 21, 2025

The vehicle lane departure will regularly steer the vehicle across lane dividing lines and leave the lane of travel. In one instance the truck continued to attempt to steer right even after crossing the white line. This complaint and specific instances were confirmed by the manufacturer however the manufacturer claims the vehicle is behaving as expected due to “limitations”. As such Toyota is saying the vehicle is going to regularly depart the lane automatically and they do not intend to perform nor pursue any fix.

  9. Service brakes, Feb 10, 2025

There is currently a safety recall on my vehicle that has no remedy available. There is a risk of having brake hoses rupturing and losing braking fluid, causing a no brakes situations and high risk for an accident. I reached out to the dealership and was provided with no information on how to resolve the situation, but was referred to their company's headquarters. Once I reached out to their representative, I was informed that the estimated time to provide a potential repair would be about 3 months. Essentially I was given the option of either driving the vehicle and expose myself and others to a vehicle incident or store my vehicle until there is a remedy provided, but still incur the costs of the vehicle, namely paying the vehicle loan.

  10. Electrical system, Feb 10, 2025

Back up camera is not shielded correctly and rain accumulates on the camera everytime that it rains. it does not matter if it is a light rain ir a heavy rain. This causes the image to be very blurry and creates a hazard.

After towing a trailer for first time, the backup parking assist sensors failed to restore to operation. They remain inoperable.

  15. Visibility/wiper, Jan 18, 2025

On 11/14/2024 the windshield wipers started malfunctioning on my leased Toyota Tacoma. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. On 11/22/2024 I took the vehicle to Premier Toyota for service. I was told they do not have the parts, that was 9 weeks ago. This vehicle is unsafe with malfunctioning wipers.

  17. Power train, Jan 16, 2025

The morning my transmission failed... I started the truck and put it in R, at which point the entire truck shuddered for several seconds. At this point many, many warning messages appeared on the instrument cluster screen as well as the infotainment screen - and the truck would not move in Reverse. After moving the shifter into P and back to R, the truck backed out of the driveway. When the truck was shifted to D - nothing happened. The truck was shifted back to R and then back to D at which point the truck moved forward but would not shift out of 1st gear. Placed truck back in P and then back to D two more times and truck would move forward but not shift out of 1st gear. Turned truck off and on approximately 3 times and it began to shift gears when driving. I drove the truck to the closest Toyota dealership where the warning codes were checked, and I was told that my transmission was bad and needed to be replaced. I was told that it would need a new Torque Converter assy, new Automatic Transmission assy, and a new Hybrid Module assy. Total cost for parts would be $27,504.29.... Covered by warranty. My truck was purchased brand new in Virginia, MN on [XXX], and the failure occurred on [XXX] with less than 800 miles on the vehicle. 18. Power train, Other or unspecified, Jan 9, 2025

The vehicle has a vibration at speeds in excess of 40mph. The dealer has confirmed that the wheels are balanced and that the truck is in alignment. They have duplicated the issue on my truck and have driven an identical model and experienced the same inherent vibration. There are also mentions of this vibration in Tacoma forums online specific to the TRD Off-road variant

  19. Air bags, Dec 21, 2024, crash

The air bags never deployed after I T boned another tacoma at a speed of about 30 mph. There's was a 2017 that also did not have air bags deployed. Vehicle is waiting to be inspected by the shop.

  20. Power train, Service brakes, Fuel/propulsion system, Dec 16, 2024

Stopping at a stop light, after coming to a complete stop, vehicle will want to slowly creep forward and you need to press a little harder on the brake pedal. If you don't pay attention, you will creep into the vehicle in front of you. I am in the transmission TSB range.

  21. Power train, Forward collision avoidance, Dec 12, 2024

My 2024 Tacoma SR5 was stuttering and felt like the wheels are locking up when I accelerate I have to go very slow because when going anything over 30 MPH feels very unsafe and is hard to control and handle it shut off a lot of my systems like crash detection and 2-3 other ones are cut off on my dash it threw a check engine light so going to take it in to Toyota tomorrow to get it looked at I don’t know if I even want this truck anymore.

  22. Other or unspecified, Dec 12, 2024

I am reporting a safety concern related to my Toyota vehicle involving the all-weather floor mat on the driver’s side. I have noticed that the mat consistently becomes caught on top of the clutch pedal when I press the pedal all the way down. This causes the mat to obstruct the pedal’s full range of motion, making it difficult to fully disengage the clutch. As a result, I have to be extremely cautious and pull over to manually adjust the mat whenever this happens, as it poses a potential safety hazard while driving. I have recorded a video showing this issue occurring, but the file size is too large to submit through the NHTSA portal. As an alternative, I have taken a screenshot from the video that clearly shows the mat interfering with the clutch pedal. I am concerned that this issue could lead to an unsafe driving situation, especially in emergency or high-stress driving conditions. I am requesting that this issue be investigated, as it may affect other vehicles with similar all-weather floor mats.

  23. Power train, Dec 5, 2024

I bought the truck at 6 pm on [XXX] in Pennsylvania and drove straight home in Brooklyn, when trying to find a parking spot the truck started to act weird(10pm after 190 miles). The rpm was going really high with no power to the wheels and abruptly it seems to find gear and jumped off really fast a couple of times. I was driving in a residential area at low speed and was able to pull over to the curb. I could have hit a pedestrian, another car or lost control pretty badly if I was in a highway. After the initial incident all the lights came off (engine malfunction, brakes malfunction, collision system malfunction and others). The truck was towed and after a long wait, today the 5th of December, it was diagnosed as a transmission problem, Toyota is going order a new transmission and the broken one will be sent to Toyota for further inspection. They want to replace my truck and it seems they are not willing to cancel the deal. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  24. Power train, Dec 3, 2024

My new 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro with 2440 miles experienced a transmission failure as I was driving up a mountain highway. I lost most propulsion of the vehicle with no advanced notice. I barely was able to make it to a portion of the road with a shoulder. There was heavy traffic due to the thanksgiving holiday traffic. The error on the Vehicle indicated Hybrid System Failure. In the vehicle information I was able to access additional errors, “A malfunctions in the intelligent Clearance Sonar System has been detected”, and “A malfunction in the Drive Start Control System has been detected”. The vehicle was towed to a local Toyota dealer and the have diagnose that the transmission and a computer need to be replaced. The problem arose suddenly without warning and with out any prior issues.

  25. Steering, Electrical system, Nov 27, 2024

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently drifted to the left and jerked while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the instrument panel was not functioning properly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the long block and torque converter had failed, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 188,000.
