Child seat, vehicle latch anchorMay 11, 2023
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles. The four rear-seat lower child seat LATCH anchorage bars may have excessive powder coating, which could prevent a child seat from being installed with the anchorage bars. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 225, "Child Restraint Anchorage Systems."
The inability to install a child seat with the LATCH anchorage bars could result in an unsecured child seat, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Owners are advised to install child seats using the vehicle's rear seat belts until the remedy is complete. Dealers will inspect the latch anchorage bars, and remove and replace the finish, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 2, 2023. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N232403240.

Service brakes, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 28, 2026
The vacuum pump of the vehicle has failed four different times now, needing replaced each time, causing the “service brake assist” light to come on and the brakes to be really incredibly hard to press. Each time, it has been at highway speeds, and has made it extremely unsafe due to making it so hard to stop the vehicle. The first time it happened was in July of 2024 at 72,000 miles, again in October of 2024 at 80,000 miles, again in May of 2026 at 112,000 miles, and most recently in September of 2026 at 118,000 miles.
Power train, Sep 26, 2026
Once reaching around 50,000-60,000 miles, I began to experience a tremble/shudder sensation when driving between 35-45mph and the vehicle would appear to be on either 2nd or 3rd gear (usually under stress going up a hill). Mentioned to 2 different dealers but denied it being the transmission, both claiming because they never heard of Transmission issues with the Equinox. They ruled it as a PCV issue or balancing issue. After replacing the PCV and valve cover gasket as well as checking the balancing, the issues continued with no resolution. Even had the transmission fluid exchanged but no resolution. Now the shudder has intensified at times where it can feel very aggressive, feeling as if the transmission will give out or the Equinox will stall out entirely. I've searched online and numerous blogs have reported a known "Transmission Shudder" where some dealers, while under manufacturer warranty and extended warranty, were replacing the entire transmission or the Torque Converter Clutch which ended up resolving the issue. Now out of warranty, my Equinox as well as others reported online, the shudder continues.

Car sputtered and stalled when starting for work, but then started, I kept it running while I dropped my daughter off at school and went to work. Car sputtered and would not start, leaving me stuck at work. After attempting to start a few times, my check engine light came on. Then received an email saying my car had a critical safety issue from OnStar. Had to wait over an hour for a tow to the Chevy Dealer. Waited another 6 days for it to be looked at. It was a faulty fuel pump modulator, which was recalled for some VINs but not mine. If it stalled while I was driving, it would've caused a wreck.
Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 22, 2026
-The fuel pump control module fails. The dealer replaced the part and I don't have it for inspection. -Car dies while driving and will not restart. Stranded alongside the road with traffic and requires the vehicle to be towed. Quick response required to get pulled off the road before it is immoveable. The first time that it failed I was in a no reception zone and had to walk to get reception to call for help. -Yes, when at the dealership the vehicle failed and confirmed that it was the fuel pump control module. This problem has happened on 3 different accounts. A dealership in Washington state replaced the control module twice and a different dealership in the state of Iowa. The first failure was 2/26/2023 and towed to a dealership on 2/27/2023. The second failure was on 1/10/2024. The most recent failure was on 8/6/2026 and towed on 8/7/2026 to the dealership. -The vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, police or insurance. -A warning light service engine came on moments before the car died. It appears that there is a recall N252516900 that my VIN doesn't fall into that I believe covers the same issues I have been seeing.

Engine and engine cooling, Fuel system, Gasoline, Sep 10, 2026
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH and making a sharp right turn, the vehicle lost automotive power and stalled in the middle of the road. The vehicle failed to restart, and a tow truck was called to the scene. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer, and the vehicle was diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump pressure control module and coolant hoses had failed and needed to be replaced. Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 31, 2026
While driving, the car began stalling, and the info window said to shift to "neutral" and restart the vehicle. Attempted this, and the car just stopped in the middle of the street, unable to move it to the side. The info window started saying "no fuel" and I was unable to restart the car to move it off the street. Had to call my local mechanic since there is no Chevy dealership in my area. The car was towed to the shop, and diagnosed with the "Fuel pump power control module" failure. The part was replaced, and the mechanic was still unable to get the car to register fuel in the gas tank. They took it to the closest dealership, and the dealership also was unable to clear the codes and sync it. At this point, the mechanic put the old part back on, and the car still wouldn't start. The mechanic ordered yet another fuel pump power control module, and this time the car would sync and register the gas in the car. As of today, the car is running. Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 29, 2026
While accelerating in traffic, the car suddenly lost engine power. (Stalled). After several tries to restart, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership for repair. The fuel pump control module was replaced.
Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 28, 2026
I was driving in town at normal speed getting on entrance ramp to XXX in [XXX]. As I made my turn the car engine stopped working. I pulled over to the side of the ramp. The car would not start. I called a tow truck and had it taken to my mechanic. He diagnosed it as a failed fuel pump module. He also said that this car had been recalled in 2023 and the fuel pump module replaced. Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 24, 2026
While driving, vehicle lunged forward and engine shut off. Dashboard stated to put in neutral and restart. Pushed automatic start and it clicked for approximately 20 seconds before engine started. Put vehicle in drive and pressed on gas and engine shut off. Put vehicle in park and tried to start again with clicking lasting 20-30 seconds before stopping. Had to have vehicle towed to Chevy Dealership for diagnostic and repair. The fuel pump control module had to be replaced. This was a recall for 2021-2022 Equinox. The VIN did not pull up for this recall and I am asking for reimbursement.
Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 18, 2026
My Chevy Equinox failed in the middle of the road and was dead in the middle of traffic, placing myself and others in harm. This is a safety issues and not an emissions issue.
Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 11, 2026
The car stalled and wouldn’t restart while I was in an intersection. No warning on the dashboard until the car stalled. It is currently being serviced at a dealership. Two young men pushed me over off the road. I am in my [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Steering, Engine and engine cooling, Aug 6, 2026
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that after the dealer performed a transmission flush, the check engine warning light intermittently illuminated while driving. Additionally, the steering wheel jerked abnormally, and the radio went blank while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, and the engine filter was replaced and another unknown part was also replaced, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 4, 2026
Vehicle stalled losing power at highway speeds a total 7 times. Engine light finally came on stating that it is a P025A fuel pump modulator issue. This is a know issue with the year and model I have, yet my VIN was not covered under the recall. Car is a 2022 Chevy Equinox with 26.2k miles. Has been confirmed with dealer. Power loss at such speeds put my family in dangerous situations each time. Scottsdale dealers would not make it a priority so I had to get it back to Yuma. Dealer is making me responsible for bill due to being out of my bumper to bumper regardless of the low mileage. Urged against goodwill warranty exception and given no loaner vehicle. Had the vehicle towed to local dealership.
Fuel system, Gasoline, Jul 28, 2026
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled and came to a complete stop. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed with an inoperable fuel pump control module. The vehicle was repaired out of pocket. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,272.
Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 26, 2026
While driving my 2022 Chevrolet Equinox LT, at approximately 20 mph, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete engine failure. The engine completely shut off while the vehicle was actively in motion, causing a severe and immediate safety hazard as I lost power assistance in traffic. The vehicle refused to restart and left me completely stranded in a dangerous traffic situation. It had to be towed immediately to a repair facility. The diagnostic performed at Firestone Complete Auto Care confirmed a total failure of the Fuel Pump Module Assembly, which completely cut off the fuel supply to the engine while driving. I had to pay out of pocket for an emergency replacement of the fuel pump module to make the vehicle operational again. This vehicle is experiencing the exact component failure and identical symptoms described in GM Safety Recall N222372310 (NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V013000) for Inadequate Fuel Pump Flow. However, General Motors is currently refusing to cover or reimburse this repair, claiming that my specific VIN is not included in their narrow recall database. Since this identical engineering defect causes sudden vehicle immobilization while in motion and creates a severe risk of highway collisions, I am filing this safety complaint to request that the NHTSA investigate and compel General Motors to expand the scope of Recall N222372310 to include all affected 2022 Equinox vehicles sharing this defective fuel pump design. I have the official diagnostic invoice and proof of payment available for verification.
Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 20, 2026
Traveling far from home, car suddenly made a rattling noise and engine shut down. Pulled over for a tow. After 2 weeks in a shop, it was determined the fuel pump was defective causing the camshaft to break. Our VIN is not under the recall but the damage was massive. GM refused to admit to pump failure / camshaft defect. Took parts to be inspected also to the dealership and they confirmed. There were no warnings. We were on a major highway traveling at 70 mph when this happened, yes this was a dangerous situation to be in. GM refused to listen to my case that I filed as I stated we have the "right to repair" and took it to the nearest shop. They closed my case with no opportunity to move forward in the customer service world. We had to pay 4900.00 for repair, 214.00 to tow, 1700.00 for a rental car and all they offered were 1000 GM point that converted to 10.00.
Engine and engine cooling, Jul 14, 2026
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and accelerating, there was an abnormally loud rattling sound coming from the muffler. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic, and it was determined that the baffles inside the muffler were loose, and the muffler needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 11,000.
Fuel system, Gasoline, Jul 6, 2026
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power upon depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact coasted the vehicle into a parking lot as the instrument panel displayed the message: "Shift the transmission into Neutral (N), then turn the key or press the engine Start/Stop button to restart the engine." After several unsuccessful attempts to restart the vehicle, the vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump had failed and needed replacement. The contact researched the failure and discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V013000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a safety complaint. The vehicle remained unrepaired in the dealer's possession. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Known issue of arabic language reset on engine start with this make/model infotainment system. (TSB 23-NA-118 / 23-NA-042). Causes language and user errors upon startup and causes the rear backup camera to not engage properly every time, creating a safety issue when reversing. With the user’s language not saving, it creates a safety issue because the warnings are in a language that the user cannot understand on startup.
