Air bags, side/window, curtain, inflatorJul 1, 2021
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture.
A separated inflator end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape, resulting in the end cap or other components being propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Dealers will replace the left and right side RRAB modules, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed on August 18, 2021. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy is available. Phase I owner notification letters were mailed on May 5, 2022. Phase II owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 31, 2022. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. This recall supersedes NHTSA recall number 20V-736. GM's number for this recall is N202324251.

Seat belts, frontApr 8, 2021
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.
A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver seat belt lap pretensioner, free of charge. The recall began on May 5, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212330040.

Air bags, side/window, curtain, inflatorNov 25, 2020
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator.
If the end cap separates from the inflator, the compressed gas will escape and the end cap can be propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the RRAB modules on the left and/or right side, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on December 22, 2020. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. Note: GM filed a new recall, number 21V-504 that supersedes this recall. Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, wheel speed sensor/tone ringOct 24, 2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.
Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles. The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time.
As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192268490.

If the brake pedal becomes loose or inoperative, the driver may be unable to stop the vehicle by using the brake pedal. Additionally, a loose pedal may also interfere with the accelerator pedal. Either condition may increase the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will add adhesive to the nut and reinstall the nut with increased tightness, free of charge. The recall began October 3, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18278. Air bags, frontalJul 10, 2017
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. When applying brakes at low speeds the brakes are unresponsive they sound rough and the vehicle does not come to a stop it skids forward, and an electric low whine occurs. This doesn't happen everytime. I took it in for Carvanas 30 day warranty and was told its because I drove it down the mountain grade while applying brakes and they didnt find anything wrong with the brake thus wouldn't be covered. Been seeing this vacuum issue with the brakes on this particular issue and seeing if I can get this resolved.

I test drove a 2026 Silverado 1500 at Hanania Chevrolet in Saint Augustine Florida on [XXX]. Before the test drive, I advised the salesperson in the rear seat that the Service Brake Assist light was on at the instrument panel. He advised that the light needed to be reset and he would have it taken care of. I returned to the showroom to complete the required paper work and the vehicle was cleaned and returned in front of the showroom. I drove the vehicle on [XXX] after driving a short distance the "Service Brake Assist" light again came on. I notified the service department on 6/1/2026 and drove the vehicle back to the dealership. The service advisor indicated he was going to have his best Technician repair the vehicle. I arrived at12:33 and the vehicle was completed at 12:56 PM I drove the vehicle back to my home without any issues. I left my home on [XXX] and as I turned onto the Interstate Highway, the light came on once again. After researching this issue, it is not advisable to drive the vehicle as the Antilock Braking System will not operate correctly. This vehicle should NOT have been available for any prospective customer to drive on the highway until the issue is corrected. The sales person should have verified that the brake issue was properly repaired before offering anyone a road test in the vehicle. The vehicle is currently at the Dealership. the brake pedal goes hard and you have to slam on the brakes, to get the truck to stop. The brake assist is not working. on 10/30/2020 I took the truck in for the recall and they reprogrammed the ECM the problem stopped. Well there was second recall, but the brake system was functioning. The brake system is now not functioning, and they are telling me the recall is expired, even though I took my truck in for the first recall to have it fixed.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while approaching a stop sign, the brake pedal was depressed but traveled down to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to respond as intended. The vehicle eventually came to a stop. No warning lights were illuminated. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the brake vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, who confirmed that the vacuum pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. Upon investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V645000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). However, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 187,000.

Driving the truck, a nut fell against my foot. I pulled over and looked underneath to where this Nut could have come from. I realized that the brake pedal was very loose. I did a Google search to see what break pedal Nut could have loosened and Fallen off. I identified that there was a recall for the brake pedal pivot nut on these trucks. From that, I looked up to that section and found that the nut did indeed come from that part. I called the local Chevrolet dealership and they informed me that my VIN number was not part of that recall list. It is obvious that General Motors left the numbers off of that recall for vehicles that are still being affected by that problem. I called General Motors customer service and spoke to Brandy at customer service and she was not willing to help and only told me to contact this government agency. In order to prevent fatalities of innocent lives, I am reporting this.

Brake pedal bolt came loose and fell off. Brake pedal was difficult to use. There was a recall for this issue on 2015-2016 2500 and 3500 series trucks but not 1500 series. I have a video of the brake pedal condition but it will not let me upload it.

I am the original owner of a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. The vehicle's brake vacuum pump has failed, resulting in a sudden, significant loss of power braking assist. This requires excessive pedal force to stop the vehicle, creating an immediate safety hazard and increasing the risk of a crash. General Motors previously issued special coverage adjustment N192210240 ( or N182202780 ) to address this specific component failure, extending warranty coverage to 10 years or 150,000 miles. I never received notification of this coverage or the potential safety defect. The dealership has confirmed the vacuum pump failure but denied coverage because the 10- year window has recently expired. I contacted GM Corporate on 12/16/2025 and 12/17/ 2025 they declined GoodWill Assistance. I believe it is unreasonable to deny coverage for a know safety defect on a vehicle owned by the original purchaser who was never properly notified of the extension on N182202780.

I pulled into a parking lot, and into a parking spot. I put the truck in reverse to back up and straighten the truck, when I started to pull back in the brake pedal became hard to press. I had to stand up on the brake pedal to keep from hitting the car parked in front of me. It also happened another time while backing out of a parking spot when someone walked behind the vehicle, and I had to stand on the pedal.

Vacuum pump for brakes . My brake pedal get hard
Service brakes, Aug 21, 2025
Vacuum pump failed causing an anti-lock brake failure and destroyed all my brake pads and rotors. General motors and the dealership are only covering the vacuum pump, but require me the customer to pay for the brake pads, rotors, and installation fees. GM had the dealership perform 3 days of testing to verify that it was the vacuum pump. I was hauling a camper with my truck when it failed with my 2 young children inside and the truck ground to a halt while shaking violently scaring my children. I had to have the vehicle towed due to how dangerous the issue was.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet 1500. The contact stated that while in the driveway and reversing at a very slow speed, the brake pedal became extremely firm while depressed, and the vehicle failed to stop before striking another parked vehicle. During the failure the contact was depressing the brake pedal with added force, but the vehicle failed to stop. The parked vehicle sustained damages to the front bumper. The contact stated the brake failure had also occurred while driving and while reversing at slow speeds. The cause of the failures were not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 197,000.

GMC knows there is a problem with the Vacuum Pump Assembly/Belt Kit and are refusing to recall it. The breaks are harder to press (see attachments) and the alarms are constantly dinging. My truck has less than one hundred and fifty miles and I bought it 12/07/2015, they have a special warrant on these vehicles but will not honor it. This is dangerous not to have the proper breaking power.

-Vacuum pump malfunction. Not available, has already been repaired. Found out after the fact there had been a recall on 2014-2018 vacuum pumps. Mine had not been included in the recall, yet here we are. -While pulling into a parking spot, as I was slowing down/braking the pedal went to the floor, truck accelerated went over a parking barrier, sidewalk and hit a tree. If I had not hit the tree, I would have driven into the side of the building into people doing cardio or if someone had been walking in front of me, I would have hit them. Seeing an orthopedist on June 10 for right hip and knee pain as leg was fully extended on impact. -Quality GMC Collision/Service tested/drove the car and it didn't happen. Service ran diagnostics and it happened then. Highlighted in yellow on repair invoice. -Quality GMC Collision/Service. don't know if an adjuster looked at it or not. Quality did file a claim for it though. - There was no warning, indication, message, problem before this happened. My brakes were were working and then they weren't.

Pulling forward in my driveway and my breaks went stiff
Service brakes, Feb 7, 2025, crash
I received the recall notice and then the special warranty notice, fall of 2019. I took my vehicle, which was experiencing the braking issues described in both notices, to Nereson Automotive in Detroit Lakes, MN. I did call ahead & had an appointment and informed them of the letters and the problems both on the phone and in person when dropping the vehicle off for repairs. After they called me and told me they made all the repairs and had the vehicle in good working order again, I picked up my 2015 Chevy Silverado High Country (approximately 107,000 miles) and while still on the lot I experienced the same braking issues. At that point I just figured it was something that I would have to deal with. After almost 5 years of dealing with the intermittent annoyance, I started doing some research on how to fix it myself and came across a mechanics instruction on how the recall and special warranty was supposed to be performed. I called them back and scheduled another appointment pointing out they were supposed to replace the vacuum pump in 2019 and I informed them (Ty) the radio and DIC on my truck would randomly change menus and stations and wanted them to reflash the computer system (which they did not do, and also charged me over $150 for a bogus diagnostic fee afterward). After I dropped my truck off for repair (again) (approximately 158,000 miles) I received a call and they said the special warranty is expired because I was approximately 8,000 miles over the extension. I informed them I had brought them the truck in 2019 to have the issue fixed and they did not fix it under warranty at that point. They said there was nothing they could do to help fix this important SAFETY RECALL. Now, I have complete brake assist failure and a dealer that seems to be ignoring the recalls and cutting corners. I called GM Customer Service and they said I have to work it out with the independently owned dealer. I called back yesterday (XXX) and they still refuse to fix the recall.
