Air bags, side/window, curtain, inflatorJul 1, 2021
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture.
A separated inflator end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape, resulting in the end cap or other components being propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Dealers will replace the left and right side RRAB modules, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed on August 18, 2021. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy is available. Phase I owner notification letters were mailed on May 5, 2022. Phase II owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 31, 2022. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. This recall supersedes NHTSA recall number 20V-736. GM's number for this recall is N202324251.

Seat belts, frontApr 8, 2021
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.
A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver seat belt lap pretensioner, free of charge. The recall began on May 5, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212330040.

Air bags, side/window, curtain, inflatorNov 25, 2020
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator.
If the end cap separates from the inflator, the compressed gas will escape and the end cap can be propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the RRAB modules on the left and/or right side, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on December 22, 2020. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. Note: GM filed a new recall, number 21V-504 that supersedes this recall. All vehicles previously recalled under 20V-736 will now be repaired under the new recall number 21V-504. GM's numbers for this recall are N202309680, N202309681, and N202309682.

Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, wheel speed sensor/tone ringOct 24, 2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.
Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

Service brakes, hydraulic, power assist, vacuumSep 6, 2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles. The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time.
As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192268490.

Steering, electric power assist systemSep 7, 2018
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Sierra 1500 and Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade vehicles. Electric power steering (EPS) assist may be lost momentarily, followed by a sudden return of EPS assist.
If EPS assist is lost and then suddenly returns, the driver may have difficulty steering the vehicle, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the EPS module software, free of charge. The recall began October 12, 2018. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18289.

Service brakes, hydraulic, pedals and linkagesAug 30, 2018
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, 1500 Crew Cab Special Service, Tahoe Police Pursuit/Special Service, GMC Sierra 2500, and 3500 vehicles. The brake pedal pivot nut may loosen, causing the brake pedal to be loose or inoperative.
If the brake pedal becomes loose or inoperative, the driver may be unable to stop the vehicle by using the brake pedal. Additionally, a loose pedal may also interfere with the accelerator pedal. Either condition may increase the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will add adhesive to the nut and reinstall the nut with increased tightness, free of charge. The recall began October 3, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18278. Note: The vehicles in this recall need this additional remedy despite being covered by recall 16V069 for brake pedal loosening.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Tahoe Police Pursuit and Special-Service vehicles. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.
If the pretensioner cable becomes fatigued or breaks, the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the pretensioner cable and seat side-shield, free of charge. The recall began June 19, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 18156.

Air bags, frontalJul 10, 2017
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. ON NEW UNSOLD TRUCKS THEY STATED THAT THEY WILL REPLACE THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY WHY NOT ON OUR NEW TRUCKS!. I SPENT OVER 40K ON MY TRUCK FOR THIS HACK JOB! I THINK GM SHOULD REPLACE ALL OF THESE WITH NEW AS THIS IS TERRIBLE WORKMANSHIP!

THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. LOSS CONTROL WHILE AVOIDING A DEER. SLID INTO DITCH. HIT A DRIVEWAY ENTRANCE. WAS AIRBORNE APPROX. 15 YARDS. NOSE DIVED INTO THE GROUND AND WENT BACK ACROSS THE DITCH INTO A FIELD, TURNED LEFT AND WENT INTO A WOODED AREA OF PINES. LEFT FRONT FENDER MADE CONTACT WITH A PINE ( ABOUT EIGHT INCHES THICK ) PARTIALLY UP ROOTING AND CONTINUED ON TO WEDGE BETWEEN TWO PINES. AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT TIGHTEN UP SO TIGHT THAT I HAD TO USE A FAIRLY LARGE SCREW DRIVE, THAT I HAD IN THE CENTER CONSOLE, TO BEAT THE RELEASE IN ORDER TO UNLOCK THE SEAT BELT. WITH THE VEHICLE GETTING AIRBORNE AND NOSE DIVING INTO THE GROUND AND THE IMPACT OF THE LEFT FRONT FENDER INTO THE TREE, THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING SOUTH EAST ON A HIGHWAY IT WAS APPROX. 9:30 PM.

I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE EXCESSIVE SHAKING/VIBRATION IN THIS 2015 CHEVY SILVERADO AND, THUS FAR, GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE DEALERSHIP HAVE NO RESOLUTION IN SIGHT. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (MOST NOTABLE ABOVE 73 MPH) SINCE THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED AUG 2015. AS THEY CAN'T IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, I CAN'T BE SURE THE ORIGIN IS OR IS NOT A SAFETY-REATED CONCERN. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BALANCED, RE-BALANCED, ROTATED, AND ROAD PRESSURE TESTED TIRES TO NO AVAIL. EVEN TRIED A NEW SET OF TIRES OFF OF A 2016 MODEL TO NO AVAIL. AS THIS MATTER CONTINUES AND DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE TIRE-RELATED, I'M WORRIED THAT THE ISSUE MAY BE IN THE SUSPENSION AND WILL, AT SOME POINT, CAUSE OR CREATE A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE.

CHECK TRAILER WIRING WARNING - WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS, WEATHER, SMOOTH VERSUS ROUGH ROADS, WHILE PULLING TWO DIFFERENT TRAILERS, THE TRUCK INDICATES TO CHECK THE WIRING AND 1 SECOND LATER IT INDICATED THE TRAILER IS CONNECTED. IT MAY HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES IN A MILE AND THEN NOT OCCUR FOR 50 MILES. ONE TIME THERE WAS A MESSAGE TO CHECK THE BRAKE CONTROLLER. THIS HAPPENS EACH TIME I HOOK A TRAILER UP TO THE TRUCK. TRUCK IS AT THE DEALER AND THEY ARE SAYING THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. 6 MONTHS AGO WHEN I PULLED THE SAME TRAILERS WITH MY 2012 CHEVY PICKUP, I DID NOT HAVE THIS CONCERN. ONLY STARTED WITH THE NEW TRUCK. IS A CONCERN WHEN THE TRAILER BRAKES DO NOT WORK DURING THIS TIME. THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM WHEN I TOW MY TRAVEL TRAILER AGAIN.

I BOUGHT THE CAR THREE DAYS EARLIER. THE VEHICLE HAS 4800 MILES ON IT. IT IS A CERTIFIED USED TRUCK. I WAS DRIVING ON A CURVY ROAD ON THE SIDE OF A SMALL MOUNTAIN. WHILE DRIVING, I NOTICED THE STEERING GETTING A LITTLE PLAY IN IT, NOT MUCH EVER SO SLIGHT. WHEN I GOT TO THE 90 DEGREE LEFT TURN, ONTO ANOTHER ROAD, I FOUND I HAD LOST THE ABILITY TO TURN THE VEHICLE. THE TRUCK STARTED TOWARD THE TREES. I HIT THE BRAKES AND GAVE IT ALL I HAD, MUSCLE WISE, IN ORDER TO MAKE THE TURN. I PULLED OVER AND REGAINED MY COM-POSHER. I DID NOTICE THERE WAS A MESSAGE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING AND TO BE CAREFUL DRIVING, I DID NOT NOTICE THAT MESSAGE BEFORE THE INCIDENT. I THEN PROCEEDED TO DRIVE TO TO THE DEALERSHIP VERY SLOWLY WITH THE FLASHERS ON. I ONLY HAD TO MAKE FIVE TURNS AND EIGHT MILES TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE STEERING WAS MAKING ALL KINDS OF NOISES AND JERKY MOTIONS. THERE WAS NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE DONE TO THE VEHICLE DURING THIS INCIDENT. I JUST WONDER WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPEN IF MY WIFE OR ONE OF MY DAUGHTERS WERE DRIVING.

THE TRUCK HAS A CONSTANT VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS HAVE VERIFIED THE PROBLEM, GM FIELD ENGINEERS VERIFIED THERE IS AN ISSUE, AND THE ENGINEER RECOMMENDED THE DEALER CHANGE REAR END PARTS, STILL NO FIX. KIDS LOCKED IN MY TRUCK, IN MY DRIVEWAY AFTER REMOTE START. (REPRODUCIBLE) MY KIDS GOT LOCKED IN MY CAR A FEW WEEKS AGO WHERE THE UNLOCK BUTTON WASN'T WORKING, I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE UNTIL IT HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN. I WAS GETTING READY TO TAKE MY 15 YEAR OLD SON TO SCHOOL. I UNLOCKED THE CAR SO HE COULD PUT HIS STUFF IN, AND SHORTLY AFTER I REMOTE STARTED THE CAR. MY OLDER SON WAS IN THE CAR AT THE TIME I REMOTE STARTED THE CAR, WHILE I CONTINUED TO GET MY YOUNGER 4 YEAR OLD READY IN THE HOUSE. WHEN I CAME BACK TO THE CAR WITH MY SON, MY HANDS WERE FULL AND I ASKED MY SON TO UNLOCK THE CAR. HE PRESSED THE UNLOCK BUTTON AND NOTHING HAPPENED, AND THE DOOR REMAINED LOCKED WITH HIM INSIDE. HE COULD NOT UNLOCK THE CAR DOORS TO GET OUT! (I DO HAVE VIDEO OF THIS AND CAN REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM IT AT ANY TIME) LET'S UNDERSTAND THE SEVERITY OF THIS ISSUE: WHAT IF HE GOT SICK IN THE CAR, OR HAD TO USE THE BATHROOM, OR MEDICAL EMERGENCY? WHAT IF MY SON WAS EATING BREAKFAST AND CHOKED ON SOMETHING WHILE I WAS INSIDE FOR 5-10 MINUTES GETTING MY YOUNGER SON READY? WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS STARTING AT AND ABOVE 70 MPH THERE IS AN AUDIBLE NOISE NOT PRESENT AT ANY OTHER TIME OR CIRCUMSTANCE. THIS IS ALSO FELT THRU THE GAS PETAL SO MY CONCERN IS THAT THERE COULD POSSIBLY BE A DEFECT OR OUT-OF-BALANCE COMPONENT. I DEMONSTRATED THIS CONDITION WITH THE DEALER'S TECHNICIAN ON THIS AND ANOTHER IDENTICAL 1500 AND IT HAD THE SAME ISSUE. DISCUSSING THIS WITH ANOTHER 2015 SILVERADO 1500 OWNER FOUND THAT THEIR VEHICLE ALSO HAS THE SAME CONDITION. IN FACT THEIR VEHICLE WHEN OPERATED AT SPEEDS ABOVE 70 MPH VIBRATES SO NOTICEABLY THAT THE CUP HOLDERS SPILL THE CONTENTS.
Vehicle speed control, Apr 28, 2016
A REPRODUCIBLE CONDITION EXISTS WHEN THE DRIVER REMOVES THEIR FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL, THEN QUICKLY ENGAGES CRUISE CONTROL, THEN PUSHES THE MINUS (-) BUTTON REPEATEDLY TO DECELERATE THE CRUISE CONTROL, THAT THE VEHICLE CRUISE LOCKS UP AND FLIPS BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN THE DESIRED SPEED AND THE ORIGINAL SET SPEED, AND DOES NOT DECELERATE. THIS CAN OCCUR FOR SEVERAL SECONDS, WHERE THE DRIVER BELIEVES THEY ARE DECELERATING THE CRUISE CONTROL BUT IT IS LOCKED AT ITS ORIGINAL SETTING, WHICH COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.

MY SILVERADO HAS DEVELOPED A VIBRATION AROUND 4-5000 MILES FROM NEW. THE VIBRATION STARTS AROUND 60MPH AND INCREASES IN INTENSITY UP TO AND BEYOND 80MPH, THE LEGAL SPEED LIMIT IN TEXAS. THE VIBRATION CAN BE FELT THROUGHOUT THE CABIN IN THE SEATS, CENTER CONSOLE, STEERING WHEEL, DOORS AND GAS PEDAL. ON MY LAST 3+ HOUR DRIVE I HAD TO STOP MIDWAY BECAUSE THE VIBRATIONS GAVE ME A HEADACHE. THAT'S NEVER HAPPENED IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE EVER. AFTER 3 VISITS TO THE DEALER AND MULTIPLE ROAD FORCE BALANCE AND TIRE REPLACEMENTS LATER THE DEALER STATES THE TRUCK IS OPERATING NORMAL AND IS IN SPEC. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A BRAND NEW VEHICLE AND I'M WORKING ON TAKING IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH GM TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM.

COMBO 4 PIN AND 7 PIN TRAILER CONNECTION IS UPSIDE DOWN. THIS MAY RESULT IN THE LOSS OF TRAILER LIGHTS AND BRAKES. WITH CONNECTION UPSIDE DOWN THE 7 PIN DOOR WILL NOT HOLD PLUG IN TIGHTLY AND CAUSE THE BRAKE AND GROUND PINS TO POSSIBLE DISCONNECT. LOOSING BRAKES WHILE PULLING A HEAVING LOAD IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. PLUG NEEDS TO BE INVERTED TO ENSURE THE DOOR LATCH HOLDS THE PLUG AT THE HIGH POINT AND WEIGHT OF THE CORD HOLDS THE PLUG IN TIGHTLY DEALER IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND GM ENGINEER IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE.. WHEN DRIVING A MESSAGE ON MY INFORMATION CENTER POPS UP WHICH STATES THAT TAKING MY EYES OFF THE ROAD CAN CAUSE A ACCIDENT,ECT. THIS MAKES ME TAKE MY EYES OFF THE ROAD TO SEE IT AND AGAIN TO DELETE IT. SO THIS IS A HAZZARD. GM SAID THERE IS NOTHING IN THE OWNERS MANUAL ABOUT IT , AND ENGINEERING THINKS THAT IT HAPPENS WHEN I TOUCH A BUTTON ON THE INSTURMENT PANEL WHEN DRIVING. BUT IT HAPPENS TO APPEAR WHEN IM DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAVE NOT TOUCHED ANY CONTROL BUTTON. , THIS IS A SERIOUS DISTRACTION. SINCE I CANNOT DUPLICATE IT BECAUSE IT HAPPENS AT RANDOM, WHEN IT DOES OCCUR AGAIN I WILL TAKE A PICTURE OF IT. THE MESSAGE WILL NOT CANCEL ON ITS OWN AND BLOCKES EVERYTHING ON THE MESSAGE CENTER UNTIL I MANUALLY SHUT IT OFF

HAD BEEN COMPLAINING SINCE 2 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE THAT TRANSMISSION WAS SHAKING/SHIMMYING/SPUTTERING. WAS PULLING ONTO A COUNTY HIGHWAY OFF OF A RESIDENTIAL TYPE ROAD (AFTER PICKING UP GRANDDAUGHTER FROM SCHOOL - SHE WAS IN TRUCK) AND TRUCK BOGGED DOWN & WOULDN'T GO. INTERSECTION IS AT TOP OF HILL AND AROUND A CORNER. WAS CLEAR WHEN I STARTED PULLING OUT, BUT WAS ALMOST HIT BY ONCOMING TRUCK BEFORE I GOT MY TRUCK TO GET ON ACROSS THE INTERSECTION. HAS BEEN IN SHOP TWICE TO FIX IT. FIRST TIME TO DOUBLE TRANSMISSION FLUSH. THAT DIDN'T WORK. NEXT TIME A FEW WEEKS LATER, A TECHNICIAN HOOKED UP A COMPUTER TO MY TRUCK SO HE COULD MANUALLY SHIFT GEARS WHILE RIDING WITH ME. HE FELT THE ISSUES AND SAID HE SAW SEVERAL PROBLEMS. DEALERSHIP ENDED UP REPLACING TORQUE CONVERTER. ALSO REPLACED VLOM MANIFOLD - WHATEVER THAT IS? THAT'S WHAT IT SAYS ON WORK ORDER. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I BELIEVE THERE ARE BULLETINS OUT ON THIS TRUCK'S TRANSMISSION ALREADY. I HAVE TALKED TO OTHERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
