Air bags, side/window, curtain, inflatorSep 24, 2026
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500, GMC Sierra 2500/3500 vehicles, and 2016-2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles. The left-side or right-side roof rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator or the inflator sidewall may rupture.
A detached end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape and project the end cap or fragments of the inflator into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.
Dealers will replace both RRAB modules, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 9, 2026. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N262569920. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 24, 2026.

Air bags, side/window, curtain, inflatorJul 1, 2021
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture.
A separated inflator end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape, resulting in the end cap or other components being propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Dealers will replace the left and right side RRAB modules, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed on August 18, 2021. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy is available. Phase I owner notification letters were mailed on May 5, 2022. Phase II owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 31, 2022. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. This recall supersedes NHTSA recall number 20V-736. GM's number for this recall is N202324251.

Seat belts, frontApr 8, 2021
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.
A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver seat belt lap pretensioner, free of charge. The recall began on May 5, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212330040.

If the end cap separates from the inflator, the compressed gas will escape and the end cap can be propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the RRAB modules on the left and/or right side, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on December 22, 2020. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. Note: GM filed a new recall, number 21V-504 that supersedes this recall. Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, wheel speed sensor/tone ringOct 24, 2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.
Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

Service brakes, hydraulic, power assist, vacuumSep 6, 2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles. The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time.
As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192268490.

If the brake pedal becomes loose or inoperative, the driver may be unable to stop the vehicle by using the brake pedal. Additionally, a loose pedal may also interfere with the accelerator pedal. Either condition may increase the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will add adhesive to the nut and reinstall the nut with increased tightness, free of charge. The recall began October 3, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18278. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Tahoe Police Pursuit and Special-Service vehicles. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.
If the pretensioner cable becomes fatigued or breaks, the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the pretensioner cable and seat side-shield, free of charge. The recall began June 19, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 18156.

Air bags, frontalJul 10, 2017
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. I DROVE ALMOST 5 HRS AWAY TO TAKE MY FAMILY ON A VACATION AND WHEN I PULLED INTO THE HOTEL I ALMOST COULDNT STOP AND NOTICED MY PARKING ASSIST SERVICE WAS ON ON THE DASH. I TRIED BACKING UP AND I ALMOST COULD NOT STOP FROM BACKING INTO ANOTHER CAR. AND IT KEEPS DOING IT EVERY NOW AND AGAIN. THE BRAKES ARE HARD TO PUSH AND IT FEELS LIKE ARE PALPATATING AND ALSO FEEL LIKE SOMETHING IS UNDER MY BRAKE BC IT BARELY PUSHES IN.

MY 2016 SILVERADO 1500 PROBLEMS IS THE ALONG WITH THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING, OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS TURNS OFF INCLUDING THE RADIO, DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER, DOOR-LOCK CYCLE, AC AND THE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM. ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT TURN ON ALSO HARD TO TURN. VEHICLE COULD BE JUST ON OR DRIVING AROUND FOR HOURS OR MINUTES TIME DOESN'T MATTER IT COULD DO IT AS SOON IT TURN ON THOSE PROBLEMS APPEAR WHEN THE STABILITRAK LIGHT COMES ON.

INTERMITTENTLY LOSES POWER STEERING, AND MAKES IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. A MESSAGE POPS UP AND SAYS, SERVICE POWER STEERING DRIVE WITH CARE. HAPPENS MOST OFTEN THE FIRST TIME I USE IT ON ANY GIVEN DAY. BUT OCCASIONALLY HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING. IT STARTED ABOUT A WEEK AGO AND HAS HAPPENED EVERY DAY SINCE THEN. *TR

WHILE SETTING IN A DRIVE THRU MY STEERING WHEEL WILL JERK BACK AND FOURTH AND THEN MY TRUCK WILL DIE. I GET SEVERAL DIFFERENT MESSAGES ON MY DASH STABILITY TRACK NEEDS SERVICE, WINDOW NEEDS ROLLED DOWN THEN UP, OR TRAILER ASSIST. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES.

SILVERARDO 2016 1500 PICK UP TRUCK SUDDENLY LOST POWER STEERING WITH NO WARNING. TRUCK IS IN FINE OPERATING CONDITION, THERE ARE NO CURRENT RECALLS FOR STEERING FOR THIS YEAR. WIFE WAS DRIVING. THE TRUCK WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY EXIT. PULLED OVER. I WENT OUT TO GET THE TRUCK LOOKED FOR ANY ISSUES. RESTARTED TRUCK POWER STEERING WORKED THEN FAILED AGAIN AFTER 5 MINUTES. DROVE THE TRUCK TO A PARKING LOT. RESTARTED TRUCK AND POWER STEERING WORKS. WHILE SOME PERSONS MAY BE ABLE TO STEER THE TRUCK TO A SAFE SPOT, IT IS DIFFICULT AND TAKES A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF UPPER BODY STRENGTH TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. HOW DO I SAFELY LET MY WIFE DRIVE THIS CAR? I AM WORRIED THAT THIS PREVIOUS DEFECT/ISSUE WAS NOT PROPERLY ADDRESSED BY CHEVROLET. THANK YOU
Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 23, 2020
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND TRAVELING ON AN EXIT RAMP ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH, MY VEHICLE MOMENTARILY "SHUDDERED" OR "LOST POWER" FOLLOWED BY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN QUITE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, HOWEVER I WAS ABLE TO RETAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY. WHEN I PULLED OVER, I CONNECTED MY CODE SCANNING TOOL AND PULLED A P0300 CODE FROM THE VEHICLE, MEANING IT HAD MULTIPLE/RANDOM MISFIRES. THIS COINCIDES WITH THE "SHUDDER". UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC, THE SERVICE WRITER INFORMED ME THEY HAVE HAD QUITE A FEW VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ENGINE COME IN FOR MISFIRE ISSUES, USUALLY RESULTING IN FUEL INJECTORS BEING REPLACED OR THE FUEL PUMP. SEARCHING ONLINE, IT SEEMS TO BE A FAIRLY CONSISTENT ISSUE. MULTIPLE FORUMS HAVE BEEN DEDICATED TO IT, ALONG WITH MANY YOUTUBE VIDEOS DESCRIBING IT AND SHOWING HOW TO REPLACE THE INJECTORS OR FUEL PUMP. AS THIS SEEMS LIKE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE, I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST THE NHTSA LOOK INTO THE MATTER AND MAKE A DETERMINATION. I WOULD HATE FOR A SIMILAR SITUATION TO HAPPEN TO SOMEONE AND THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO RETAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE WITH ABOUT 20000 MILES , RIGHT AFTER I HIT ABOUT 28000 I NOTICED THAT MY SECOND OR THIRD GEAR ON MY TRANSMISSION STARTED JERKING . IS ALWAYS DOING IT WHEN IS COLD AND ALWAYS AT THE FIRST START OF THE DAY. I ALSO NOTICED WHEN DOWNSHIFTING IT MAKES A LOUD CLONKING SOUND. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY OF COURSE TOLD ME IT WAS NOTHING . I DO NOT TOW ANYTHING HEAVY I ONLY USE MY TRUCK TO GO TO WORK . IM PRETTY SURE THIS IS NOT NORMAL . UNFORTUNATELY I HAVEN'T ABLE TO GET IT FIX SINCE REPAIRS FOR TRANSMISSIONS ARE EXPENSIVE AND THIS VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR

SERVICE POWER STEERING CAME ON, CAR WAS COMPLETELY UNABLE TO CONTROL WITH ZERO STEERING ASSIST. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ALMOST HIT MULTIPLE CARS TURNING AT LOW SPEED. TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR THE RECALL ON BRAKES. DEALER PERFORMED THE RECALL SERVICE. BRAKES STILL EXHIBIT PROBLEMS. BRAKES BECOME MUSHY AT LOW SPEED AFTER APPLYING BRAKES GENTLY, THEN MOVING FORWARD SLIGHTLY AT LOW SPEED BRAKES SEEM TO COLLAPSE AND EXHIBIT A LOW GRUMBLING NOISE. PADS AND ROTORS ARE GOOD, SO NOT THE ISSUE. IT LEAVES ME WONDERING IF RECALL WAS DONE OR DONE CORRECTLY. *TR

AT APPROXIMATELY 32,000 MILES, AS I WAS ENTERING THE ON RAMP TO THE FREEWAY, I LOST FORWARD DRIVE. I COASTED TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TRIED SEVERAL TIMES UNSUCCESSFULLY TO RESUME FORWARD MOTION OR EVEN REVERSE. THE ENGINE REVVED UP BUT NO MOVEMENT. AFTER GETTING THE TRUCK TOWED TO MY HOUSE, AND THEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY, THE DEALERSHIP SPENT 2 DAYS DIAGNOSING THE TRANSMISSION BEFORE DETERMINING THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REMOVED FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. AFTER THEY REMOVED THE TRANSMISSION, THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE GEARS AND CLUTCH PACKS FOR GEARS 2 THROUGH 6 HAD BLOWN APART. THIS IS OF COURSE WAS ABSURD DUE TO THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE, THE MILEAGE AND THE FACT THAT I'VE NEVER TOWED ANYTHING WITH THE TRUCK OR ANYTHING OUTSIDE OF NORMAL EVERYDAY DRIVING. FORTUNATELY, IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY SO THE DEALER PROCEEDED TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION. FAST FORWARD TO 60,000 MILES LATER AND OF COURSE THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS HAVE RETURNED. I BEGAN FEELING AN INTENSE VIBRATION THROUGH EVERY GEAR AND AT ALL SPEEDS, LONG, DELAYED AND FREQUENTLY VIOLENT SHIFTS BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND, 3RD AND 4TH GEARS, AND A STRANGE, NOISY IDLE. THIS WENT ON FOR A DAY WHICH, I THEN PARKED THE TRUCK AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE. THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT, AFTER THE VIBRATIONS, CLUNKS AND DELAYED SHIFTS, I LOST FORWARD DRIVE AGAIN, ABOUT A HALF MILE FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I MANAGED TO GET IT BACK IN DRIVE AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE IGNITION AND CYCLING THE SHIFTER FROM PARK TO DRIVE, BUT THIS WOULD ONLY LAST THROUGH 2ND GEAR BEFORE LOSING DRIVE AGAIN. I REPEATED THIS ABOUT 4 TIMES WHICH WAS ENOUGH TO GET THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND PREVENT HAVING TO WAIT AN HOUR TO BE TOWED 1/4 MILE. UNFORTUNATELY THE TRUCK IS NOW OUTSIDE OF THE 5 YEAR 60,000 MI POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. EXPECTING TO RECEIVE A DIAGNOSTIC REPORT TOMORROW. *TR

USUALLY AFTER MORE THAN ONE STOP WHEN MOVING LESS THAN 5 MPH WITH FOOT OF THE GAS (LIKE WHEN PARKING) BREAK PEDAL REQUIRES EXTREME PRESSURE TO STOP VEHICLE.THIS AFTER BRAKE SOFTWARE WAS RE-PROGRAMMED DURING A RECALL. WHEN BACKING A 6000 LB TRAILER (WITHOUT ELECTRIC BRAKES TRAILER HAS HYDRAULIC SURGE BRAKES) DOWN A HILL IT BECOMES DANGEROUS! TO BACK A TRAILER DOWN A HILL YOU MUST PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL, USE YOUR RIGHT FOOT TO KEEP THE ENGINE RPM UP AND BRAKE WITH YOUR RIGHT FOOT. THIS ALLOWS THE VACUUM PUMP TO SUPPLY ENOUGH VACUUM FOR THE POWER BRAKES TO WORK COMBINE THIS WITH WATCHING AND GUIDING THE TRAILER AND IT CAUSES EXTREME WORRY. IF YOU DON;T KEEP THE ENGINE RPM UP TO PRODUCE VACUUM YOU CANNOT SAFELY THE TRAILER, IT WILL TRAVEL MUCH FURTHER BEFORE STOPPING AND REQUIRE A MASSIVE EFFORT ON THE PEDAL TO STOP THE TRUCK AND TRAILER. THIS HAPPENED EVERY TIME I LAUNCH MY BOAT IN 2019. TRUCK NOW HAS ABOUT 51000 MILES ON IT. OTHER THAN THE BRAKES IT HAS BEEN PROBLEM FREE. *TR

MY 2016 SILVERADO STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND ALL OF THE POWER IN MY VEHICLE SHUTS OFF. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I'M TURNING BUT I CANNOT MOVE THE WHEEL IN ANY DIRECTION. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD LEAD TO INJURY OR DEATH. I WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN A HEAD COLLISION THIS MORNING BECAUSE OF IT. NOT TO MENTION THAT NOT ONE CHEVROLET MECHANIC OR AUTO DEALER KNOWS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT OR EVEN ACTS LIKE THEY CARE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED IN OLDER MODEL SILVERADO'S AND 2016 SILVERADOS SHOULD BE INCLUDED. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND NOW THEIR IS DOCUMENTATION. *TR

WHEN STOPPING VEHICLE THE BREAK PEDAL HAS BEEN VIBRATING AND GOING TO THE FLOOR FOR A FEW DAYS. THIS USUALLY RESOLVES AFTER A FEW MINUTES. HOWEVER TODAY THE BREAK PEDAL VIBRATED AND WENT TO THE FLOOR AND HAS NOT COME BACK UP. THIS IS NOT ALLOWING THE TRUCK TO STOP IN REVERSE OR FORWARD MOTION. WHEN PUT IN REVERSE AND THEN PRESSURE APPLIED TO BREAK THE PEDAL APPEARS TO STAY ON THE FLOOR OF TRUCK. WHEN PLACED IN DRIVE THE PEDAL WILL HAVE SOME PRESSURE BEHIND IT BUT THEN WILL ABRUPTLY GO TO FLOOR AND NOT ALLOW TRUCK TO STOP. THIS OCCURRED BEFORE THE LAST BREAK RECALL ON THIS TRUCK. RECALL WAS COMPLETED AND THEN A FEW MONTHS LATER THE SAME ISSUE HAS OCCURRED. THERE IS ADEQUATE BREAK FLUID IN RESERVOIR AND DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE LEAKING. BREAK PADS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. THIS SEEMS TO BE EITHER AN INTERNAL COMPUTER ISSUE OR AND ISSUE WITH THE BREAK PEDAL ITSELF. THIS HAPPENED WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED.

BRAKE PEDAL TURNED ROCK SOLID. VERY DIFFICULT TO BRAKE. THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY. ALMOST CRASHED INTO ANOTHER CAR APPROACHING THE STOP LIGHT. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THE VACUUM PUMP ASAP. IT'S DANGEROUS!

MY 2016 SILVERADO WAS ALREADY RECALLED FOR THE BRAKES, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WEBER CHEVROLET, AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED THE RECALL. THIS WAS SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. YESTERDAY I STARTED UP MY TRUCK AND A BRAKE SERVICE MESSAGE APPEARED, WHEN I PUT THE TRUCK INTO DRIVE AND WENT DOWN THE STREET THE BRAKES WERE MUSH, THEY WERE ALMOST UNRESPONSIVE AT THE LOW SPEED I WAS GOING. I HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL TO ALMOST THE FLOOR AT THE STOP AND HEARD A LOUD GROWLING SOUND FROM EITHER UNDERTAKE HOOD OR THE WHEELS. SO WHAT EVER THEY WORK DID FOR THE RECALL NOTICE DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN YOUR RECALLS FOR THIS 2016 TRUCK.
