Vehicle engine failed with approximately 48,000 miles. Prior to failure, engine shut off while traveling 55mph on a public highway causing operator to have to pull over to restart engine. Vehicle inspected by GM dealer who advised metal in engine oil, requiring engine replacement.

I was sent a notice of a recall regarding a fuel pump, power control module that needs to be taken care of, but it is not being accepted under my VIN number. I believe that there is this issue with my vehicle or something similar because every day I start the vehicle up for the first time and drive it. It is jerking me and does not have proper fuel or proper pressure to move the vehicle without jerking me. After 10 to 15 minutes it cleans up and drives better but then again we’ll redo it if I sit still for multiple hours and restart the vehicle again late in the afternoon it will do it all over.
Engine, Sep 23, 2026
My 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country with the 6.2L L87 engine suffered a sudden catastrophic engine failure after passing the inspection for Recall 25V274 at approximately 70,000 miles and being returned to service. While I was pulling into my driveway, the engine abruptly shut off as though the ignition had been turned off. It would crank but would not restart. The sudden loss of propulsion while the vehicle was moving created a safety concern; a similar shutdown in traffic could cause a crash. The Chevrolet dealership disassembled the engine and documented multiple lifters stuck in their bores, requiring excessive force to remove, and deep cylinder-wall scoring that could catch a fingernail. The dealer determined that the block damage required complete engine replacement and replaced the engine. The dealer attributed the failure to lack of oil or improper maintenance and denied recall-related coverage, stating that the failure involved the upper engine rather than the crankshaft or connecting-rod bearings covered by the recall. I strongly dispute the poor-maintenance conclusion. Oil changes were performed regularly. The dealer told me the oil was somewhat low but still within the operating range when the truck arrived after the failure. I ask NHTSA to review this sudden engine failure following completion of Recall 25V274 and whether the recall inspection/remedy adequately addresses the risk of subsequent engine failure. I am not asserting that a particular manufacturing defect caused this failure; the underlying cause remains disputed. Availability of the failed engine for further inspection is unknown.

We were sold a 2022 ZR2 1500 Chevy pickup on 8/14/2026. The dealer disclosed "unknown" on the used car buyer disclosure form. By admission of service department this truck's engine seized in March 2026. A replacement engine was ordered, placed on back order, and arrived to the dealership in August 2026. The service department believed that the repair was done and finished on 8/14/2026, the same date as the purchase. On 8/30/2026, the truck was not running properly, not moving forward despite pressing on the gas, and lots of instrument panel lights. The truck was towed to the dealership and "fixed" They claim it was a fuel injector and separate from the issue regarding the engine.

My truck was driving fine down the road and started getting a knocking sound. I had a tow truck come pick the truck up and take it to the dealer, after about a week they advised I needed a new motor
Power train, Electrical system, Engine, Sep 16, 2026
The transmission it erratically shifts and has a roaring sound. I also says shift to park when it is in park. It wont start when it is cold it just cranks and cranks it has since i bought it. Well when my kids and I are going down the road and the transmittion randomly starts up shifting or down shifting and whenit goes out its gonn lock up probably where fever we are. as for the starting thing when its cold its isnt the ideal to have to go build a fire in the garage just to get my truck to start during an emergency. I have had a garage hook it up to a computer to see if it was throwing any codes. It wasn't except a brake sensor. I bought this truck 2 years ago and have nothing but trouble with it shifting and and the dash always says shift to park. this is one of the worst Chevrolet trucks i have ever bought. it only has around 70000 miles on it. I had the truck about 3 month when the transmittion issue started. It has never started when it was cold out side the whole time I have owned igt.

Engine is the 6.2L V8. Engine has started consuming oil. Consumed approximately 3 quarts of oil over 4k miles. 0 signs of external leakage.
Engine, Sep 10, 2026
I took my truck in to have a bad fuel pump module looked at. During the inspection they found some metal in the oil and it was confirmed by more being in the oil filter. This truck had previoulsy been cleared on the NHTSA Campaign 25V-274, but now it appears that it is a part of that recall. The dealer has initiated the work with the chevy corporate offices and I am working to secure a rental/ loaner car. I am filing this in the event there are any issues getting the new replacement engine.

Coolant Control Valve is malfunctioning. Check engine code P1098, Running Fans Loud cooling fans running at full blast shortly after turning off the engine. General Motors issued special coverages N252508341 extending coolant control valve warranty protection up to 15 years or 150,000 miles for select 3.0L Duramax vehicles. Unfortunately, GM says my VIN isn’t covered by the extended warranty even though it has all the same issues as those that are covered down to the check engine code notes on their bulletin N252508341.

I experienced a crankshaft bearing failure while driving my 6.2L V8 Chevrolet Silverado on the highway / freeway. Thankfully I was able to exit highway / freeway to avoid a car collision due to loss of power. My truck was towed to a certified Chevy dealer. This is a known issue for 2019-2026 6.2L V8 L87 engines. The truck was previously inspected by a certified Chevy dealer for prior L87 engine recall. It passed and they changed the oil type to 0w-40. Prior to this event, my truck was at the dealer for a low oil pressure issue / oil pan replacement. I picked it up from the dealer after the vehicle was repaired and drove it for about three days and then experienced the crankshaft bearing failure. No warning lamps illuminated prior to failure. My truck is currently at the dealer waiting for a new engine.

NHTSA VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT Vehicle: 2022 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 Trail Boss Engine: 6.2L V8 VIN: [XXX] Selling Dealer: Harris Hankins Chevrolet, Bay Springs, Mississippi I purchased this 2022 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 Trail Boss from Harris Hankins Chevrolet in Bay Springs, Mississippi. The truck is equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine and has experienced repeated and serious engine failures. The vehicle is currently operating on its third engine. The original factory-installed engine suffered a major engine failure at approximately 27,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to a Chevrolet dealership, where the original engine was replaced. The second engine failed within approximately 30 miles of leaving the dealership following the first engine replacement. This failure resulted in the vehicle requiring another engine replacement. The truck is now operating with its third engine. I have periodically noticed abnormal valvetrain noise coming from this third engine. Considering that the first two engines experienced major failures, I am very concerned that this abnormal valvetrain noise may indicate another developing engine problem or potential engine failure. This 2022 Chevrolet Silverado has therefore experienced two major engine failures at very low mileage and is now on its third engine, which is periodically exhibiting abnormal valvetrain noise. I believe these repeated engine failures represent a serious vehicle safety concern. A sudden engine failure or loss of propulsion while traveling at highway speeds or in traffic could create a dangerous situation for the driver, passengers, and other motorists. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) formally document my vehicle’s history and investigate these repeated failures involving the Chevrolet/GM 6.2L V8 engine. The dealership has the service records and repair documentation concerning the previous engine failures and engine replacements. I did the 0w-40 oil swap and now my truck is having more issues than before the recall, doing a “oil consumption test”
Electrical system, Engine, Aug 29, 2026
Purchased vehicle in August of 2025 and there was an open recall for engine issues at that time. Took vehicle back to dealership in October or November for dealer to inspect. The vehicle passed the engine test and oil was changed to a heavier weight. From October/November 2025 I’ve been noting that there’s been a significant loss of engine oil prior to scheduled maintenance that requires anywhere between 4-5quart top off every three months or so. Feels like the vehicle is sluggish and has no “get-up”. Also, the Auto Emergency Brake light/system keeps malfunctioning. Even after it’s been replaced several times the light comes back on and you’re not able to control the forward collision gauge.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH on Interstate 10, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to pull the vehicle over; however, the vehicle failed to restart. A battery warning message and a no-start message were displayed. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine was locked due to bearing failure. The engine was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure via phone call and written letter, and the contact was provided with service points. The failure mileage was approximately 53,874.

July 11, 2026 I experienced a lifter failure. Towed to GM dealer on July 13th. Dealer comfirmed lifter failure and camshaft damage and metal contamination throughout engine. Dealer installed replacement engine using my mechanical breakdown policy since I was out of factory warranty. Picked up truck one month later with new engine and the transmission started slipping and shuttering. Took back to dealer who claimed metal fragments in fluid and said transmission needed to be replaced. I then made a second claim on my mechanical breakdown policy and the dealer replaced the transmission. All of these issues are known issues with the engine and transmission.

Component/system failed: The 6.2L L87 engine. The engine ultimately seized and the vehicle became inoperable. The engine should be available for inspection because it is being replaced under GM Special Coverage N252494003. Safety risk: The engine unexpectedly shut off while driving at highway speeds. Loss of propulsion in traffic creates a significant collision risk. The inability to restart left the vehicle disabled. Confirmed: An independent repair facility confirmed that the engine was seized prior to towing it to the GM dealer. Yesterday the GM dealer confirmed i had a seized engine and it was going to be replacement under N252494003 special coverage entention. Inspections: My truck was inspected in October 25, for the recall. My truck passed this test, and was subsequently was told my oil spec has been revised. Warnings/symptoms: no warning was given

While traveling in bumper to bumper highway traffic in my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado RST, I attempted to accelerate and the vehicle suddenly malfunctioned. I experienced sever loss/restriction of propulsion and the vehicle would not respond normally to accelerator input. I was able to maneuver toward the shoulder of the road while avoiding a major multi-car pile up involving innocent motorists. When I attempted to stop, I did not have normal braking ability and was unable to stop in the manner I expected. I had to use the shoulder of the highway to slow the truck down until I could come to a complete stop. This created an immediate risk of serious or fatal collision on the highway, and as I maneuvered the truck out of traffic to the side of the road. Had I been unable to reach the shoulder of the road, I could have been struck by surrounding traffic. Had this failure occured un an urban area or at an intersection, near pedestrians, or at a school bus stop- I could have seriously injured or killed people or myself. After I was able to come to a complete stop. I shut it off and turned it back on, then the truck read there was no gas left (I had a 1/2 tank). This incident is not isolated electronic glitch, I have experienced electrical malfunctions including the truck failing to start, unlocking, responding at all. This all occured after an engine replacement due to a recall. I am concerned that there are unresolved electrical and power-distribution, communication-network, propulsion or braking issues that presents a serious safety risk to myself and others. My concern is that if this malfunction occurred on my drive to work in the city, around pedestrians- it could have resulted in multiple fatalities.

The vehicle previously received the official GM Recall Campaign 25V-274 remedy/inspection, but suffered catastrophic engine failure and sudden loss of propulsion afterwards.
Engine and engine cooling, Aug 18, 2026
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the engine temperature increased while driving approximately 60 - 70 MPH. The message “Reduced Speed due to High Temperature” was displayed. The temperature gauge increased to high and then down to low. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was caused by the coolant control valve. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The contact was advised that an error message needed to be displayed before moving forward. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

I have a 2022 silverado ltd with the 6.2. I purchased the truck about a month and a half ago the previous owner had the 40 weight oil recall completed prior to my purchase. I had the oil changed when it said 45 percent life remaining far before it was due a certified chevy dealer completed the oil change with the 40 weight correct oil. Well about 8 days ago I went out and started the truck and heard a clunk sound like a failing starter would make. So later that day I notice a ticking noise as well as a chirping noise. Coming from engine bay. I made note of it. Ever since the noise began I have kept close eyes on it the ticking and chirping rise and fall when I give it gas. Yesterday when I started it the clunk noise happened but this time I felt a shudder or stutter I looked at the rpms and they didn't move at all with the shudder. I have an appointment Monday morning to take it to the dealer I looked into the recall for the thicker oil. And learned that this motor is pretty much junk and multiple issues I haven't driven it since yesterday because the issues I'm having correspond with complete engine failure at any point and I do not want to be on the highway and it happen that would put me and other motorist at risk injury. There has been no warning lights no engine light just the initial clunk the first time and since that it's just been getting worse
