Component Affected: Visibility: Interior Trim / Entertainment Center Bezel Glare Description of Safety Hazard:The interior styling of the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado RST contains a design flaw involving the polished chrome trim strip located directly below the main central entertainment center/infotainment screen. Because of the angle of this specific trim piece relative to the driver's seating position, direct sunlight hits this lower screen border and reflects a concentrated, blinding glare directly into the driver’s eyes. This causes immediate, severe visual impairment and a temporary loss of forward visibility while driving. This distraction and blindness prevent the driver from safely observing the road and traffic, creating an imminent crash hazard. The manufacturer has failed to provide a non-reflective, matte finish for this specific entertainment center trim to prevent this hazard.

Tailgate unlatched while driving and all my items in the trunk fell out without me, knowing about it.

My 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 6.2L V8 experienced an internal engine failure at approximately 16,500 miles, requiring replacement of the entire long block under the factory powertrain warranty. The authorized Chevrolet dealership diagnosed internal cylinder wall scoring, and the engine could not be repaired. The failed engine should still be available for inspection if requested. About 4,000 miles after my last oil change, while the Oil Life Monitor still showed about 50% remaining, the vehicle repeatedly displayed "Engine Oil Level Low" warnings. I checked the oil level with the engine cold, and the dipstick showed the level was normal, so I believed the problem was a faulty oil level sensor. The next day, the warning changed to "Add Engine Oil," and I immediately took the truck to the dealership. The dealership confirmed the issue was not the sensor but internal engine damage caused by cylinder wall scoring, requiring replacement of the entire long block. Fortunately, the engine did not seize while I was driving, and no crash or injury occurred. However, before the failure was diagnosed, the only warning was repeated oil level messages that did not match the actual oil level. There were no abnormal engine noises, knocking, or noticeable loss of power. A driver could reasonably assume it was only a sensor issue and continue driving without realizing the engine had already suffered severe internal damage. If the engine failed while driving, it could create a serious safety hazard. Although GM replaced the engine under warranty, I remain concerned that a vehicle less than 16 months old with only 16,500 miles experienced such a major engine failure. I am also concerned that similar failures could occur after the factory powertrain warranty expires, leaving owners responsible for repairs that other Silverado owners have reported can cost approximately $13,000. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether similar failures may also affect 2025 6.2L V8 model.

  7. Other or unspecified, Oct 25, 2025, fire

While driving down IH10 in Boerne, TX on Oct 15, 2025, I saw smoke coming into the vehicle from the A/C vents. I immediately pulled over and put it in park, opened the driver door to get out and turned back to my truck to flames shooting out between the rear passenger side of the cab and in front on the bed of the truck. I had a UHaul trailer in tow and immediately unhooked it to get it away from the truck. I returned to my truck to retrieve my phone and proceeded to watch in desbelief as my truck and belongings went up in flames. It was fully engulfed within 30 seconds with no warnings from inside the truck while driving. Took firefighters over two hours to distinguish the flames fully.

While putting bottom seat cover on my new truck in the back seat, I pushed the seat cover under the back rest and hit a very sharp piece of metal and cut my finger. I wrapped my finger up and continued the install. On the other side of the truck I hit another sharp piece of metal behind the back rest and cut another finger. No medical treatment was required. I dont know if the metal is part of the seat bracket or what, I cannot see it.
