The SUV has consistent problems with the water pump , thermostat and radiator. They have been changed and replaced more than 3 times in a year. Also the brakes are acting funny
Electrical system, Service brakes, Engine, Jan 9, 2023
Vehicle has been having issues starting, acts like the fob is not in ignition. Vehicle has locked key in ignition and won't release it. Most dangerous concern is vehicle will completely shut down while driving, regardless of speed, and will not restart until completely stopped and put in park. Most recent occurrence was on interstate 80, 73 MPH on 12/23/2022. Everything except for hazards and radio shuts off and goes black. No warning lights, no codes tracked, just completely fails. Cannot use turn signal, brakes, power steering, nothing. Starting issues started about 12 months ago. Completely shutting down while driving started about 7 months ago. Issue is intermittent and does not show a pattern.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while his daughter was driving at 15 PMH and coming to a stop with his son in the front passenger seat, the brake pedal was depressed but hesitated to respond, causing a 50-60 feet in stopping distance delay. The brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle lightly crashed into the rear of another occupied vehicle. The contact stated that the air bags did not deploy as it was a fender bender. There were no injuries sustained. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic informed the contact that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V572000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact became aware that his VIN was included in the recall though he had not received a recall notification. The dealer was notified of the failure through a voicemail message. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.

since I have owned the vehicle ( I purchased it brand new) this has happened approx 30 times maybe more. Intermittently when you try to brake, the brake peddle is hard as a rock. I mostly notice it when I am at a fairly high speed say 50 mph but the problem is so sporadic not possible to have it replicated for the mechanic. There is a recall for this exact problem but manufacturer insists my vin # is not under the recall. I can never sell this car or let others drive it as I worry, without being familiar with the problem it could result in an accident.

CAR RANDOMLY SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING, NO WARNINGS. SHUT OFF COULD NOT STEER AS STEERING WHILE LOCKED UP & COULD NOT BRAKE AS BRAKE PAD WAS HARD AND LOCKED UP AS WELL. GOT IT TO THE SIDE OF ROAD, IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP BUT SHUT OFF AGAIN NOT EVEN 2 MINUTES LATER. WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD AND STARTED BACK UP BUT PUTTERED AS ALL THE LIGHTS FLASHED INSIDE OF THE CAR. I HAD MY KID IN THE CAR I AM TERRIFIED.

MY DURANGO STALLS WHEN I'M DRIVING AND RESTARTS ON ITS OWN. I HAD THE FUEL PUMP RELAY CHANGED ALREADY WHICH I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE DODGE DOESN'T HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PART. MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL WITH OUT NOTICE AND AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR A WEEK. THE CAR NEVER STALLED WHEN THE DROVE IT AROUND A FEW TIMES. THIS CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT STOPS AT ANY MOMENT AND YOU LOSE COMPLETE POWER. AT ANYTIME YOU COULD CRASH WITHOUT NOTICE.

Steering, Electrical system, Service brakes, Apr 29, 2019
I WAS DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THERE ARE NO LIGHTS ON, ON THE DASH AND IT IS NOT GIVING OFF ANY CODES. THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF THREE TIMES NOW. THE FIRST TIME IN JANUARY, I HAD JUST GOT OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND BEGAN TO TRAVEL AGAIN. THE TRUCK TURNED OFF WHEN I GOT UP TO AROUND 25-30 MILES PER HOUR. THE SECOND TIME IN MARCH, I HAD STOPPED AND STARTED TO TRAVEL AGAIN AND WAS GOING ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR COMING UP AN UNDERPASS.AND THE THIRD TIME WAS YESTERDAY. I WAS DRIVING UP A CITY STREET GOING ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR AND THE TRUCK SHUT OFF. THERE WAS NO ONE ON THE SIDE OF ME. IT FELT LIKE THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO WRESTLE THE STEERING WHEEL TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE TRUCK COASTED AND STOPPED. I COULD NOT PRESS THE BRAKE!!!! EACH TIME THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WAS WHEN I WAS COMING OFF OF A STOP AND BRINGING THE VEHICLE BACK UP TO SPEED, EXCEPT YESTERDAY IT SHUT OFF ONCE I WAS UP TO ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF, I WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE TRUCK AS IF IT HAD NO POWER STEERING AND I COULD NOT PRESS THE BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO WRESTLE THE TRUCK OVER AND RESTART IT. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. I REPORTED IT TO DODGE TODAY AND THEY SAID THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE AND TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER. HOWEVER, I SEARCHED ONLINE AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE DIES.
Service brakes, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Apr 15, 2019
I WAS DRIVING IN SOME PRETTY HARD RAIN GOING ABOUT 60MPH. I SLOWED THE CAR DOWN TO ABOUT 40 AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AGAIN THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE THEN SEEMED TO STALL AND LOSE BOTH BREAKS AND STEERING. I WAS ON A HILL SO IT WAS VERY SCARY. I WAS ABLE TO PUMP THE EMERGENCY BREAK AND GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE CAUSING IT TO NOT ACCELERATE, THEN LOSE POWER AND BREAKS. I WAS READING AN ISSUE WITH THE ALTERNATOR MAY BE THE CASE BUT I AM NOT SURE HOW THAT WOULD CAUSE LOSS OF BREAKS. ALSO MY DEALERSHIP STATES THEY ALREADY FIXED THE ALTERNATOR RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE.

BRAKE SYSTEM STOPPING POWER IS GREATLY REDUCED. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALREADY HAD THE BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL COMPLETED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. THE PROBLEM HAS JUST OCCURRED YESTERDAY. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE FREEWAY, THE LACK OF BRAKING POWER CAUSED ME TO SWERVE INTO TRAFFIC TO AVOID SLAMMING INTO A SCHOOL BUS I WAS BEHIND, AND NARROWLY AVOID A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY STREET IN MY 2013 DODGE DURANGO. I GOT TO THE INTERSECTION AND LIKE ANY OTHER PERSON I WENT TO STOP. I DEPRESSED MY BARBRAKE PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THERE WAS ALSO A LOUD HISSING NOICE. NO LIGHTS SUCH AS ABS WAS ON WHEN I STARTED THE CAR. I THANKFULLY DIDN'T HIT ANYONE AND WAS ABLE TO COAST AND WAIT FOR THE CAR TO STOP. LONG STORY SHORT IT HAD TO DO WITH A SAFTEY RECALL ( THE RECEIPT SAYS RECALL P14) FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER THAT WAS NOT FIXED AT THE DEALERSHIP CORRECTLY. I WAS VERY DISSAPOINTED IN THE CAR OVERALL, I HAD THREE PROBLEMS IN ABOUT A MONTH WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR ALL THREE TIMES.

FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS WE HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE IT'S BEEN STALLING ON ME, WEATHER IF WE ARE ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN TOWN. NOW THE AMAZING THING IS THAT IT COMES BACK ON, ON ITS OWN WITHOUT US TOUCHING ANYTHING ON IT, BUT ON THE MEAN TIME WE LOSE THE BRAKES AND STEERING CONTROL AT HIGH SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. THE DEALER HAS DONE ALL THE RECALLS ON IT IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS AND STILL CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. I THINK THIS IS SOMETHING THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO LOOK INTO IT BEFORE SOMEONE DIES AND MENTION THIS BECAUSE ON MY WAY TO SAN ANTONIO THE VEHICLE DIE ON ME AT 75 MILES AN HOUR AND I HAD MY FAMILY WITH ME THAT DAY' I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT SEEMS THAT THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY DODGE VEHICLES WITH THIS STALLING PROBLEM AND THE DEALERS CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WITH THEM'

ONE RECALL WAS REPAIRED IN A TIMELY MANNER, HOWEVER IT TOOK FROM NOVEMBER 2013 TO MARCH 8, 2016 TO RECV AN APPOINTMENT TO COMPLETE THE ADDITIONAL RECALLS. SHORTLY BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT MY ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WHEN I MEET MY APPOINTMENT TIME AT NYLE MAXWELL SUPERCENTER IN AUSTIN TX, I INFORMED THEM OF THE ENGINE LIGHT. AFTER A WEEK, THEY INFORMED ME THAT NOT ONLY THE COUNTLESS RECALLS THAT NEED REPAIR THAT I ALSO NEEDED A PART FOR MY TRANSMISSION. THEY HAVE NO VEHICLE FOR ME TO LOAN OUT TO ME THAT MEETS THE SAME NEEDS AS MY DURANGO AND HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THEY MAY KEEP MY VEHICLE FOR ANOTHER 30 DAYS..

APRIL 2014 NOTICED LOUD SOUND AND NO BRAKES AFTER GOING THROUGH CARWASH. SHORTLY AFTER I RECEIVED THE FIRST RECALL ON THE BRAKE LINE. PHONED DEALERSHIP BUT WAS TOLD I WAS ON A LIST AND SHOULD BE AVAILABLE JULY 2014. I'VE CALLED SEVERAL TIMES BUT STILL NOT GOTTEN THE CALL TO GET MY CAR IN. HAD TO TAKE THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR WATER PUMP - AT THAT TIME THE SERVICE MANAGER LOOKED AT MY BRAKES AND TOLD ME I DEFINITELY HAD A PROBLEM AND WOULD MOVE ME TO FRONT OF THE LIST. STILL NO CALLS. SINCE THAT TIME I'VE RECEIVED SEVERAL MORE SAFETY RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE BUT AM NEVER ABLE TO GET AN APPOINTMENT. I'VE ASKED SINCE I HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR TO GET A RENTAL AT THEIR EXPENSE. THEY REFUSED. I WORK 40 TO 50 MILES OUT OF TOWN AND THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE I HAVE. I'M ALREADY BEING PUT OUT HAVING TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN WHY SHOULD I ALSO HAVE TO BARE THE EXPENSE OF A RENTAL CAR AS WELL. IT HAS NOW BEEN WELL OVER A YEAR, MY BREAKS ARE STILL BAD. I PANIC EVERY TIME IT RAINS. MY VEHICLE HAS RECENTLY STARTED CAUSING PROBLEMS ON STARTING UP - IT WON'T COMPLETELY TURN OVER - BUT IT JUST KEEPS STEADILY TRYING - IT WON'T LET ME CUT IT OFF AND IT'S LIKE ITS FLOODING ITSELF. I NOW HAVE A LARGE STACK OF RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE AND NO ONE WILL HELP ME. I'M NOT HAPPY WITH DODGE AND THE LACK OF CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY. I'M PAYING A CAR NOTE FOR SOMETHING THAT ISN'T SAFE TO DRIVE.

2013 DODGE DURANGO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BRAKES AND DASHBOARD LIGHT ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER SIX MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, BECAUSE THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATED PERIODICALLY. THE DEALER PURGED THE SYSTEM ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE INVOICE AND THE FAULTY LIGHTS DID NOT ILLUMINATE AGAIN. THEN, INTERMITTENTLY THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE VEHICLE FELT AS THOUGH IT WAS GOING TO ACCELERATE OR EVEN DROP DOWN IN GEAR. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES AND SERVICE BRAKE HYDRAULIC). HOWEVER, SHE WAS INFORMED THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONSUMER THEN CALLED OTHER DEALERS WITHIN A 100 MILE RADIUS AND FOUND A DEALER WHO ORDERED THE PART ON 06/17/2014 AND INSTALLED IT ON 07/02/14. IN OCTOBER 2014, WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE FELT AS THOUGH IT WAS GOING DOWN IN GEAR ON ITS OWN. TWO MONTHS LATER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 14V634000 REGARDING THE ALTERNATOR. HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS WAITING ON THE PARTS, SHE CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, UNTIL ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED. *JB
