Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

Equipment, electrical, radio/tape deck/cd etc.Jul 23, 2015
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500, 2015 Chrysler 200, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger, 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, and Dodge Durango, and 2013-2015 Dodge Viper vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.
Exploitation of the software vulnerability may result in unauthorized remote modification and control of certain vehicle systems, increasing the risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify and mail affected owners a USB drive that includes a software update that eliminates the vulnerability, free of charge. Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on August 25, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R40.

Electrical system, Exterior lighting, Other or unspecified, Jan 2, 2020
REAR TAILLIGHT LED BAR WENT OUT AFTER WATER ENTERED THE LIGHT BAR THROUGH SMALL OPENINGS AND DEFECTIVE WEATHER STRIPPING. THE LIGHTS ON THE DURANGO ARE NOT SEALED GOOD ENOUGH TO PREVENT WATER FROM ENTERING. THE LIGHT AND THE REAR CAMERA STOPPED WORKING FOR THE SAME REASON. THIS IS A DEFECT THAT ORIGINATED DURING PRODUCTION AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THESE PARTS EVERY COUPLE MONTHS BECAUSE OF WATER DAMAGE
Electrical system, Exterior lighting, Dec 30, 2019
REAR LED LITIGATE LIGHT COLLECTS WATER INSIDE UNIT AND BURNS OUT THE LED. THIS THE THIRD TIME IT HAD HAPPENED. LIGHT WAS REPLACED TWICE ALREADY.

THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START ONCE DRIVEN AND TURNED OFF. WHEN START IS PRESSED AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE JUST TURNS OVER AND DON'T START. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO AUTO NATION DODGE SEVERAL TIMES AND THE SERVICE DEPT CLAIMS THEY REPLACED THE TPIM BUT THE VEHICLE STILLS WONT START AT TIMES AND DOES IT MORE OFTEN WHEN RESTARTED
Electrical system, Aug 31, 2019
ON 8/24/19 THE ALTERNATOR FAILED WHILE DRIVING (IN MOTION!!) AND THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD SHORTLY AFTER THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. THE BATTERY HAD JUST BEEN REPLACED NEW THAT SAME DAY. WE COULD NOT MOVE THE CAR OR RESTART THE VEHICLE TO MOVE IT AND JUST PURCHASED USED ON THE 21 AUGUST 2019, ISSUE THAT YOU CAN NOT GET THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL TO MOVE THE CAR. OR THAT THERE IS NO A SECONDARY POWER SOURCE SO THAT IF THE POWER FAILS YOU CAN STILL OPERATE THE GEARS AND MOVE THE CAR OUT OF THE WAY. THE CARE MAKES A CLANKING NOISE LIKE IF THE GEARS WERE NOT MOVING AND THE CAR JOLTED FORWARD AND JUST STOPPED. REALLY? THEN COULDN'T MOVE IT THANK GOD IT DIDN'T HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY. SAW THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS DURANGO FOR THE ALTERNATOR SUDDENLY FAILING THAT EXACTLY WHAT HAPPEN BUT THERE IS NO RECORD OF THAT BEING FIXED OR BEING AN ISSUE ON THIS MODEL WHY?

THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM HEAD UNIT FAILED CAUSING GPS NAVIGATION, HVAC/BLOWER, COMPASS, AND CLIMATE TEMPERATURE CONTROL TO NOT FUNCTION. I HAD TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW UNIT COSTING $806.25. THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. IT SUDDENLY DID NOT WORK ONE DAY WHEN I TURNED THE VEHICLE ON IN THE MORNING.

CAR ALERT LOW VOLTAGE CAME ON AND THEN CAR WOULD NOT START. WHEN JUMPING THE CAR, THE CAR WOULD TURN OFF WHEN CABLES CAME OFF. WAS TOLD ALTERNATOR IS BAD. I GOOGLED AND FOUND OUT THEIR WAS A RECALL FOR ALTERNATORS BUT NOT MY 2014 MODEL. I BELIEVE MINE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED BECAUSE THE DESCRIPTION FITS MY ISSUE AS WELL AND THE VEHICLE IS THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT HONOR RECALL WHEN SHOULD THE INFO. ON LINE.

JULY 14, 2019 - WHILE THE DODGE DURANGO IS IN MOTION, THE DASH DISPLAY SUDDENLY WENT BLANK, VARIOUS SENSOR LIGHTS TURNED ON, TRANSMISSION GEAR WOULD NOT SHIFT, AND THE WIPER BLADES INTERMITTENTLY TURNED ON. SIMILARLY PROBLEM WAS EXPERIENCED IN MAY 2019, WHEN THE REPAIR SHOP IDENTIFIED AND REPLACED A FAULTY BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE). I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP ABOUT A MONTH ( JUNE 2019), FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED THE WIRING HARNESS TO BE FAULTY. AFTER SOME DIAGNOSIS, THE DEALERSHIP RESET THE CODES, ASKED ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE SOME MORE TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM REOCCURS. IT HAS BEEN A MONTH SINCE I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE PROBLEM HAS REOCCURED SEVERAL TIMES. I FEEL THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUES ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE MY KIDS IN THE CAR AND THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES ARISES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME AS THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURED ONE TIME WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AND THREE TIME WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER URGENTLY AS I CONSIDER THIS ISSUE TO BE A SERIOUS VEHICLE PROBLEM OR HAZARD. ANY DURANGO OWNER AND THEIR FAMILY COULD POTENTIALLY GET SERIOUSLY HURT.

THE RACETRACK TAIL LIGHT WILL FILL WITH WATER DURING A RAIN STORM CAUSING THE REAR RUNNING LIGHT TO GO OUT. THIS COULD POSE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF THE RUNNING LIGHTS GO OUT AT NIGHT. I STARTED NOTICING THIS PROBLEM ON OR AROUND 4/12019 AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. DOING RESEARCH HAS LEAD ME TO SEVERAL POSTS ON THE INTERNET WITH OTHERS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. HERE IS JUST ONE OF THE MANY LINK TALKING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. HTTPS://WWW.DODGEDURANGO.NET/FORUMS/DURANGO-DISCUSSIONS-2014/42937-POLL-WATER-TAIL-LIGHT-2014-A-26.HTML

THE HATCHBACK TAIL LIGHT WENT OUT BECAUSE WATER GETS INSIDE AND DOESN'T DRAIN. THE WHOLE BACK BRAKE LIGHT HAS CONDENSATION. THE BOTTOM LEFT PART OF LIGHT WENT OUT (SHORTED), BUT IN TIME THE WHOLE BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY WILL GO OUT. THIS WILL BE A SAFETY HAZZARD AND DODGE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE IF IT IS NOT FIXED BY RECALL. *DSY *DT CONSUMER STATED WITH THE LIGHTS NOT WELL LIT AT NIGHT, IT IS POSSIBLE SOMEONE WONT SEE ME. THE WATER IS GETTING INTO THE RACETRACK LIGHTS ON THE LIFT GATE. THE MAJORITY OF THE LIGHTS IN THE BACK OF VEHICLE IS THE RACETRACK LIGHTS ON THE LIFT GATE. CHEXK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON AND OFF FOR THE PAST FEW DAYS. GOT IT SCANNED AND THE CODE THE COMES UP IS A P052 - FAULTY OUL PRESSURE SENSOR. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THERE ARE QUITE A FEW OTHER MODELS EFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE BUT ONLY CERTAIN ONES ARE BEING REPAIRED WITHOUT COST TO CUSTOMER. ON MY DASH THE OIL PREASURE READS AT 85%-100% AT IDLE AND STAYS AT 100% WHEN GIVING IT GAS.
Electrical system, Engine, Mar 17, 2019
I PURCHASED MY DODGE DURANGO BRAND NEW IN 2014 AND NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH IT. IT IS CURRENTLY IN GREAT CONDITION EXCEPT THAT I RECENTLY TOOK IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE ON 3/9/19. IT SAT IN MY DRIVEWAY UNTIL MY WIFE DROVE IT TO WORK THE FOLLOWING MONDAY MORNING. ON HER WAY HOME FROM WORK SHE STARTED TO SMELL AN OVERWHELMING BURNING ELECTRICAL SMELL. I DROVE IT BACK INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE OIL CHANGE TOOK PLACE AND THEY OUTRIGHT LIED TO ME TELLING ME IT WAS A PLASTIC BAG BURNING ON THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THEY COULD NOT PROVE IT WHEN I ASKED THEM TO SHOW ME. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH ANOTHER DEALERSHIP FOR THIS TUESDAY. SO I DID SOME RESEARCH TO SEE IF ANYONE HAS HAD THE ISSUE AND THE INTERNET IS FULL OF THESE VEHICLES HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I NOTICED THAT IN A FE INSTANCES THE ISSUE WAS DUD TO A RECALL ON THE ALTERNATOR. WHEN I ENTERED MY VIN NUMBER IN THE NHTSA SITE, IT DOES NOT COME UP AS A VEHICLE THAT NEEDS THE RECALL COMPLETED. WHY WOULD MY 2014 DODGE DURANGO BE PART OF THAT RECALL? VIN [XXX] AND ALSO IF THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE WHY WOULD I AND SO MANY OTHERS HAVE THE ISSUE. REAR BACKUP LAMP LIGHT BAR ASSEMBLY IS LEAKING WATER. WATER VISIBLY OBSERVED IN LIGHT BAR AND CAUSING LED'S TO FADE. HAD IT RESEALED BY DEALERSHIP CONTINUED TO LEAK AND NOW LIGHT BAR HAS COMPLETELY FAILED AND NO LONGER TURNS ON, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS WELL DUE TO LICENSE PLATE LIGHT NO LONGER FUNCTIONING AS WELL. VEHICLE IS SCHEDULED TO GO IN FOR REPAIRS REGARDING A FAILED LIGHT BAR AND SAFETY ISSUE.
Electrical system, Exterior lighting, Feb 22, 2019
THE REAR LIFTGATE "RACE TRACK" LIGHT ASSEMBLY BADLY COLLECTS WATER. I'M NOT TALKING CONDENSATION EITHER. AFTER A DAY OF STEADY RAIN IT ALMOST FILLS BOTH SIDES OF THE LIGHT. AFTER ONE CAR WASH IT HAS ABOUT AN INCH OF WATER IN IT. IT HAPPENS ANY DAY, ANY TIME OF THE YEAR WHEN EVER IT'S RAINING. I HAVE TO REMOVE THE TWO BOTTOM MOUNTING SCREWS TO DRAIN THE WATER OUT. MOST OF THE LEDS HAVE GONE OUT AND I SWEAR I HAVE SEEN SMOKE COMING FROM THE LIGHT ONCE OR TWICE. NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP THE LIGHT IS OVER $1,000 AND I HAVE THE EXTENDED BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY WHICH I HAVE FOUND DOES NOT COVER THE REPLACEMENT EVEN THOUGH IT IS A VERY WIDESPREAD ISSUE ALL OVER THE WEB. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME FOR SOME REASON SOME PEOPLES WARRANTY COVERS IT AND MOST ARE REJECTED. I FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN SINCE WATER AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS USUALLY DONT GET ALONG. I'M WONDERING HOW MANY VEHICALS MUST CATCH FIRE FIRST BEFORE A COMPLAINT RECALL IS ISSUED? OR DO A FEW PEOPLE HAVE TO BE KILLED FIRST? I PERSONALLY KNOW FOUR PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF FOR THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND ALL WHO FOLLOW BEHIND US. PLEASE READ A BIT ON ANY OF THE DURANGO FORUMS, MOPAR FORUMS, OR EVEN ON YOUR OWN DATABASE OF COMPLAINTS. I KNOW THERE ARE HUNDREDS ON THERE BECAUSE I READ THE FORUMS AND AM PUTTING IN A COMPLAINT. THE TWO PICTURES I'M ATTACHING ARE FROM ONE CAR WASH, JUST TEN MINTUES OF PERIODICALLY HAVING WATER RUN DOWN THE BACK OF THE CAR FILLED THAT MUCH. ITS UNACCEPTABLE AND YOU KNOW IT IS.....SO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY DURING A VERY BAD RAINSTORM AT NIGHT ON JANUARY 16TH, 2019. I WAS TRAVELING AROUND 50 MPH ON THE FREEWAY, IN THE NUMBER THREE LANE, WHEN MY CAR SHUT OFF, WHERE I LOST COMPLETE POWER TO MY ENGINE. MY SPEEDOMETER DROPPED FROM 50 TO 30 MPH IMMEDIATELY, LEAVING ME WITH NO POWER, TO BARELY MAKE IT TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. NO POWER, NO BRAKE, NO STEERING-NOTHING. MY HORN WAS ALSO HONKING, MY HEADLIGHTS FLASHING, WINDSHIELD WIPERS ATTEMPTING TO MOVE BUT UNABLE TO, AND SPEAKERS MAKING WEIRD NOISES. AND TO MAKE THINGS EVEN MORE SCARY, MY 9 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED, AND POSSIBLY ISSUE A RECALL. I FEEL THAT I AM EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT MY SON AND MYSELF WERE NOT SEVERELY INJURED OR EVEN KILLED, WITH MY CAR SHUTTING OFF LIKE THAT WITHOUT WARNING. IF I HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO CRUISE TO THE EMERGENCY LANE, NO DOUBT WE WOULD HAVE BEEN STRUCK AT A STANDSTILL BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AVERAGING 50-60 MPH. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED, AND THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP, WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS FROM THE RAIN AND IT SHORTED OUT MY ELECTRICAL. THAT'S IT. THAT'S IT? THERE SHOULD BE A BETTER EXPLANATION, AND ACTION TAKEN TO PREVENT SOMETHING LIKE THIS FROM EVER HAPPENING. THAT CAR SHUTTING OFF WITHOUT WARNING FROM 50 MPH TO 0 MPH ON A FREEWAY COULD HAVE COST MY SON AND I OUR LIVES. I AM EXPECTING TO HEAR BACK FROM DODGE REGARDING THIS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED, AND I HAVE ALSO READ ABOUT SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH THE DURANGO, SO I KNOW THIS IS NOT A FLUKE. I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU. THANK YOU.
