Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

Equipment, electrical, radio/tape deck/cd etc.Jul 23, 2015
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500, 2015 Chrysler 200, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger, 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, and Dodge Durango, and 2013-2015 Dodge Viper vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.
Exploitation of the software vulnerability may result in unauthorized remote modification and control of certain vehicle systems, increasing the risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify and mail affected owners a USB drive that includes a software update that eliminates the vulnerability, free of charge. Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on August 25, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R40.

2014 DURANGO ACT WATER IN RACETRACK LIGHTING ON HATCH. PARKED IN A PARKING LOT . WHEN I WENT TO OPEN THE HATCH THE LIGHT FLICKERED AND WENT OUT. BOTH TAIL LIGHT STILL WORK.
Exterior lighting, Aug 30, 2018
I HAVE FALLEN VICTIM TO THE INFAMOUS CONDENSATION/WATER IN MY REAR TAILLIGHTS. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FLAW. AND NOW MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IS AT JEOPARDY. WHY MUST THE CONSUMER PAY FOR YOUR DESIGN FLAW. I'M A MOPAR FAN. BUT I'M HIGHLY THINKING OTHERWISE.
Exterior lighting, Aug 30, 2018
LED TAILGATE LIGHT HAS LEAK IN GASKET ALLOWING WATER TO ENTER AND SHORTING OUT THE LIGHT.
Electrical system, Exterior lighting, Structure, Aug 28, 2018
TRACK LIGHTING ON THE REAR DOOR IS NOT SEALED AND WATER GETS INTO THE LIGHT HOUSING AND THE REAR CAMERA AS WELL AS THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS. SOME OF THE LIGHTS IN THE TRACK ARE OUT AND I HAVE TO KEEP REPLACING THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS. WATER IS JUST SITTING ON THE LIGHTS SO THEY BURN OUT. I'M AFRAID THIS MIGHT START A ELECTRICAL FIRE IN THE REAR DOOR OR MY REAR LIGHTS WILL JUST STOP WORKING.
Exterior lighting, Aug 28, 2018
IN JULY WE APPROACHED OUR PARKED DURANGO. MY WIFE NOTICED THE TAIL LIGHT WAS NOT AS BRIGHT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I HAD REMOTE STARTED THE CAR, SO WE COULD SEE THE LIGHTS. LOOKING CLOSER, WE SAW THAT IT HELD WATER. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND "GOOGLED" THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL, AND THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD BUY A NEW TAIL LIGHT FOR $1,200. I BELIEVE DODGE INTENDED OWNERS TO NEVER (EXCEPT IN THE CASE OF A COLLISION, OR IN OTHER RARE INSTANCES) NEED TO REPLACE SUCH A PRICEY PART, FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. HENCE THE LED. THEY OFFERED NO OTHER REMEDY. THIS FAILURE, ON AN ESSENTIAL SAFETY ELEMENT ON THE DURANGO, HAS BEEN NOTED BY MANY FOLKS ON THE WEB. I FOUND A YOUTUBE VIDEO, WHICH SHOWED REMOVING A FEW LIFT GATE BOLTS WOULD ALLOW THE WATER TO ESCAPE, HELPING TO LIMIT THE LOSS OF MORE OF THE LEDS INSIDE THE HOUSING. THAT WORKED, BUT IS NOT A SOLUTION TO THE DIMINISHED LIGHTING. WE NOW HAVE A SMALL SHOWER POTENTIAL WHEN STANDING UNDER OUR LIFT GATE. LIFTING THE TAILGATE REMOVES WATER, WHICH CONTINUES TO COLLECT DURING EVERY RAIN, AND EACH TIME WE WASH THE VEHICLE. LEAVING THE BOLTS IN A TRAY, INSIDE THE CABIN, SERVES TO REMIND ME OF THIS DILEMMA, AND MAY ALLOW INSECTS TO INFILTRATE THE AREA. THE WATER DAMAGE WILL ONLY INCREASE F THERE IS NO FUNCTIONING SEAL, SO AT LEAST, THIS PROVIDES AN OUTLET (BUT ONLY WHEN I LIFT THE GATE). FROM MY GOOGLE SEARCH, I LEARNED THAT THE PROBLEM HAS ALSO BEEN NOTED ON DODGE CHARGERS, AND OTHER PRODUCTS EQUIPPED WITH THIS SAME PART, AND THE FAILURE APPEARS TO STEM FROM SOME MICRO FRACTURES AT THE TOP OF THE FIXTURE. THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE MANUFACTURE OF THE LIGHT IS FLAWED, POOR MATERIALS WERE USED, OR ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES HAVE AN OVER-TORQUED NUT IN THAT AREA. I SURE WOULD LIKE SOME RELIEF FROM THIS UNSAFE, AND VERY EXPENSIVE, SITUATION.

REAR LIGHT BAR HAS SHORTED. THERE IS WATER INSIDE THE ASSEMBLY
Electrical system, Exterior lighting, Aug 2, 2018
THE DURANGO'S REAR RACE TRACK TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLE FILLS WITH WATER CAUSING A SHORT. VEHICLE HAS FAILED A PA SAFETY INSPECTION DUE TO THE HAZARD.
Exterior lighting, Jul 29, 2018
WATER/CONDENSATION HAS ENTERED THE RACETRACK LIGHTING ON MY DURANGO. ITS CURRENTLY THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. THE CONDENSATION/WATER HAS CAUSED MY REAR LIGHTING TO NOT WORK AND HAS BEGUN RUSTING IN THE AREA. SAFETY CONCERNS ARE INEFFECTIVE, DISABLED LIGHTING NECESSARY FOR DRIVING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. SIMILAR SAFETY CONCERNS HAVE BEEN NOTED BY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE
Exterior lighting, Jul 28, 2018
THE REAR TAILGATE LIGHT IS FILLING WITH WATER . AFTER A RAIN STORM OR CAR WASH THE LEFT SIDE OF THE LIGHT HAS WATER BUILD UP , I'M WORRIED THAT IT WILL BE A SAFETY ISSUE, AS PART OF THE LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE.
Electrical system, Exterior lighting, Jul 27, 2018
REAR TAIL LIGHT FAILURE WITH LOW MILEAGE ON VEHICLE. RUNNING AND BRAKE LIGHTS STOP WORKING. LIKELY DUE TO WATER INTRUSION CAUSING SHORT IN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
Exterior lighting, Jul 25, 2018
LED SIGN HER TAIL LIGHT FILLS UP WITH WATER AND SHORTS OUT THE LED BULBS THERE'S NO WAY TO CHANGE THE LED BULBS HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE THING
Exterior lighting, Jul 10, 2018
AFTER A YEAR OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE I NOTICED THE REAR HATCH BREAK LIGHT WAS COLLECTING WATER. THIS LARGE CLUSTER CRACKED DOWN THE VERY CENTER ALMOST AS IF THE WEIGHT OF THE TWO ENDS WAS NOT SUPPORTING PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE CENTER. ONCE IT FILLS WITH WATER ALL THE LIGHTS THAT ARE SUBMERGED IN WATER BURN OUT.
Exterior lighting, Jul 6, 2018
RACE TRACK TAIL GATE LED LIGHT IS FILLED WITH WATER CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO FAIL. VEHICLE HAS 30,000 MILES AND IS GARAGED. WATER FILLS TAIL GATE LIGHT WHEN IT RAINS OR THROUGH CAR WASH. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE LIGHTS AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY HAZARD. CT DEALERS ARE ASKING $1,120 TO REPLACE ASSEMBLY WITH THE CAMERA.
Exterior lighting, Jul 5, 2018
THE REAR TAILLIGHTS ACCUMULATE WATER AND HAVE NO WAY TO WEEP/DRAIN. THIS IS NOW A SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE TAILLIGHTS HAVE FAILED.
Exterior lighting, Jul 5, 2018
THE LIGHT ON THE LIFTGATE COLLECTS WATER WHILE RAINING. THE WATER STAYS INSIDE THE LIGHT AND HAS MADE THE LED LIGHTS GO OUT WHERE THE WATER WAS COLLECTED. THIS HAPPENED TWICE NOW. THE LIGHT WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER WHERE PURCHASED AND WITHIN ONE YEAR IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE PART IS CLOSE TO $1000 AND FROM WHAT I CAN TELL IT WILL JUST HAPPEN AGAIN. THE DESIGN IS FLAWED AND REALLY NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I HAVE NOTICED MULTIPLE OTHER VEHICLES IDENTICAL TO MINE WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. WHILE SEARCHING FOR OTHERS WHO MAY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM IN SEARCH OF A FIX I HAVE REALIZED THERE IS SO MANY OTHERS WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO REALIZED THERE IS NO FIX. ANYONE WHO HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE LIGHT ENDS UP HAVING THE PROBLEM AGAIN. I DO NOT THINK THIS IS FAIR TO THE CONSUMER TO HAVE TO SPEND CLOSE TO $1000 EVERY YEAR TO HAVE A WORKING LIGHT ON THE BACK OF THE CAR. I AM SUBMITTING THIS IN HOPES SOMETHING WILL BE DONE TO FIX THE DESIGN FLAW. THIS ISSUE IS ON MY 2014 DODGE DURANGO R/T WHICH I BOUGHT BRAND NEW. LIKE I SAID I HAVE REPLACED THE LIGHT ONCE ALREADY AND I DO NOT FEEL LIKE I SHOULD HAVE TO KEEP PAYING TO KEEP A WORKING LIGHT.
Exterior lighting, Jun 27, 2018
THERE IS WATER BUILD UP IN MY LIFTGATE REAR TAIL LIGHTS. IT CAUSED MY LIGHT TO GO OUT AND BURN OUT.
Electrical system, Exterior lighting, Other or unspecified, Jun 5, 2018
THE REAR SENSOR BEEPS NON STOP EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NOTHING BEHIND IT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE IT EVEN THOUGH I SENT THEM A VIDEO TO SHOW THEM WHAT I HAD BEEN DEALING WITH. I HAVE ALSO BEEN DEALING WITH THE KEY FOB, EVERY TIME I GO TO LOCK MY CAR IT BEEPS ONCE TO LOCK AND AFTER THE FIRST BEEP IT BEEPS 3 TIMES AND THEN UNLOCKS MY CAR. WHEN THE CAR IS ON AND I GO TO OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, EVEN WITH THE KEY IN THE CAR, THE CAR BEEPS AND TELLS ME THE KEY FOB IS NOT IN THE VEHICLE. THE RACE TRACK LIGHT WAS BEGINNING TO FOG UP AND WITH TIME WE STARTED TO NOTICE THAT IT WAS FILLING UP WITH MOISTURE. IT FILLED UP TO ABOUT AND 1" AND WE MANAGED TO RELEASE THE WATER BUT PART OF THE RACE TRACK LIGHT IS BURNED OUT NOW. I STILL HAVE THE WARRANTY BUT THE DEALER SAID THAT THOSE LIGHTS ARE NOT COVERED AND THE PRICING WOULD RANGE FROM $1000-$1200 TO FIX.
Exterior lighting, May 24, 2018
I NOTICED RECENTLY THAT CONDENSATION WAS ACCUMULATED IN THE REAR RACING TAIL LIGHT ON THE BACK HATCH OF THE TRUCK. I THEN NOTICED APPROXIMATELY 1" OF WATER BUILD UP THAT COLLECTED INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE SAME RACING STRIP TAIL LIGHT ON THE REAR OF THE HATCH. I RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE TO SEE IF IT WAS A COMMON ISSUE AND THERE IS SEVERAL REPORTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. THERE IS ALSO YOUTUBE.COM VIDEOS EXPLAINING HOW TO DRAIN THE LIGHT. I CALLED DODGE YESTERDAY AFTER DRAINING THE LIGHT (I HAVE A VIDEO), THEY STATED THAT COULD NOT HELP ME BECAUSE THE VEHICLE JUST WENT OUT OF WARRANTY. THE SOLUTION WOULD BE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE LIGHT COSTING AROUND $1000-$ 1200.00. THEY ADVISED ME TO MAKE A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA TO SEE IF A RECALL COULD BE ISSUED. PLEASE LOOK AT THIS LINK, SEVERAL REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE: HTTP://WWW.CARPROBLEMZOO.COM/DODGE/DURANGO/TAIL-LIGHT-SWITCH-PROBLEMS.PHP YOUTUBE, HOW TO DRAIN: HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=Z8ZUPYCTIXS THERE IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE WITH THIS ASSEMBLY. CAN YOU PLEASE DO YOUR BEST TO ISSUE A RECALL SO THIS CAN BE FIXED. THERE HAS BEEN NO DAMAGE OR INCIDENT TO THE REAR END TO CAUSE SUCH AN ISSUE LIKE THIS.
Exterior lighting, May 22, 2018
WATER EASILY FILLS THE BACK TAIL LIGHT AND STARTS TO CRACK. THE LIGHTS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND IT SEEMS AS THOUGH IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM WITH NO POINT TO PAY THE MONEY TO REPLACE SINCE IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. THE HEADLIGHTS SEEM TO ALSO GET WATER IN THEM. THE LIGHTBULBS BURN OUT QUICKLY AND NEED TO BE REPLACED THIS IS A MASSIVE SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED
Exterior lighting, May 22, 2018
THE REAR HATCH TAILLIGHT/BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY, ALSO KNOWN AS THE "RACE TRACK" LIGHT, COLLECTS WATER SOMEHOW INSIDE OF THE ASSEMBLY. I HAVE FOUND WATER INSIDE OF THE ASSEMBLY AFTER ANY VOLUME OF RAIN, BE IT A DRIZZLE OR A DOWNPOUR, AND AFTER ANY LENGTH OF CARWASHING. I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT A SMALL BIT OF WATER EITHER. DUE TO THE WATER ACCUMULATION IN THE ASSEMBLY, PART OF THE LED ASSEMBLY HAS NOW GONE DARK. DUE TO THE SHAPE OF THE LIGHT THE WATER ACCUMULATES IN THE BOTTOM CORNERS OF THE LIGHT AND JUST SITS THERE UNTIL A BRIGHT SUNNY DAY COMES ALONG TO EVAPORATE THE WATER. WHICH STILL LEAVES A LARGE AMOUNT OF CONDENSATION INSIDE OF THE ASSEMBLY. SO IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY GOES DARK AND QUITS WORKING, THAT'S THE BEST CASE SCENARIO. I HAVE READ ON EVERY MOPAR, DODGE, AND DURANGO SPECIFIC COMMUNITY FORUMS AND MESSAGE BOARDS THAT THIS IS NOT A ONE OFF ISSUE. IT SEEMS THAT 90% OF DURANGO'S WITH THIS LIGHT ASSEMBLY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. WITH SOME CASES REPORTING VISIBLE SMOKE COMING FROM THE ASSEMBLY DUE TO A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE FROM EXTENDED WATER DAMAGE, COMPLETE LIGHT FAILURE, AND MANY OTHER ISSUES CAUSED BY SHOTTY MANUFACTURING. TO HAVE THE ASSEMBLY REPLACED IS NO CHEAP VENTURE. THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY ALONE RUNS AROUND $500 OR MORE, DEPENDING ON THE CONDITION, PLUS I'M FIGURING ANOTHER $300 TO $600 IN LABOR COST ON TOP OF THE PART COST. NONE OF THIS WORK IS COVERED UNDER ANY OF MOPAR, DODGE, OR CHRYSLER WARRANTIES. EVEN THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY I PAID ROUGHLY $4,000 FOR. THIS SITUATION HAS NUMEROUS SAFTEY CONCERNS FROM NO VISIBILITY AT NIGHT FOR THE DRIVER'S BEHIND TO A SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD WITH ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT CONSTANTLY IN WATER. I HOPE THIS ISSUE IS REMEDIED BEFORE MY VEHICAL OR ANYONE ELSE'S VEHICAL HAS MELTING TAILLIGHTS OR ANOTHER VEHICAL WEDGED IN THE REAR FROM MY REAR LIGHTS BURNING OUT. PLEASE RESEARCH ALL THE FORUMS OUT THERE.
Exterior lighting, May 19, 2018
THE CENTER SECTION OF THE REAR TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY HAS WATER IN IT. A SEAL MUST HAVE FAILED. SOME OF THE LED LIGHT IS NON-FUNCTIONING.
Exterior lighting, May 18, 2018
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT NOTICED WATER LEAKING INTO THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE L.E.D. EXTERIOR LIGHTING FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FISK AUTO MALL (4599 FORT CAMPBELL BLVD, HOPKINSVILLE, KY), BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED SINCE IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
Exterior lighting, May 17, 2018
THERE IS STANDING WATER IN MY REAR TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THOUSANDS OF OTHER DURANGO OWNERS WITH THE SAME ASSEMBLY NATIONWIDE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AND CHRYSLER REFUSES TO RECALL THE FAULTY PART. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS IT HAS ALREADY BURNT OUT THE BULBS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ASSEMBLY.
