Recalls and investigations

  1. Equipment, electrical, engine block heaterJan 15, 2026

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Focus, 2013-2019 Escape, and 2015-2016 MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.

An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.

Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed March 6, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S01. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on January 16, 2026.

  2. Power train, automatic transmission, gear position indication (prndl)Jun 10, 2022

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

  3. Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchJun 8, 2020

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

  4. Power train, automatic transmission, lever and linkage, floor shiftJul 16, 2018

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2014 Ford Escape, and 2013-2016 Ford Fusion vehicles, equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions. The bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission may degrade over time and cause the bushing to detach from the transmission. The condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to Park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in Park, with no warning message or audible chime.

If the vehicle is exited without the transmission being in Park and without the parking brake being applied, the vehicle may unexpectedly move, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the shifter cable bushing, free of charge. The recall began September 20, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S20. Note: Owners are directed to use the parking brake until the recall remedy repairs can be made.

A component within the door latches may break, preventing the doors from latching and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Escape vehicles manufactured October 5, 2011, through April 10, 2014. Due to an assembly misalignment between the exterior door handle and the door outer panel, the affected vehicles have doors that may be difficult to close or may possibly open while driving.

A door that opens unexpectedly may result in an unrestrained occupant falling from the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and correct the mounting of the door handles, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on May 30, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S03.

  15. Engine and engine coolingDec 3, 2012

This is an update to a recently announced recall. Ford is recalling certain model year 2013 Escape vehicles manufactured from October 5, 2011, through November 26, 2012, equipped with 1.6L engines, as well as certain model year 2013 Fusion vehicles manufactured from February 3, 2012, through November 29, 2012, equipped with 1.6L engines. Coolant system leaks may cause the engines to overheat and leak flammable engine fluids.

If flammable engine fluids come in contact with the vehicle’s hot exhaust system, a vehicle fire could occur.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the engine for coolant system leaks and reprogram the vehicle’s powertrain control module and instrument cluster with an updated calibration and overheat strategy software. There will be no charge to owners for this service. Owners were recently notified to contact dealers to arrange for alternative transportation as Ford developed a remedy. Owners will be shortly receiving notifications to contact Ford dealers to schedule the free remedy repair. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

TODAY I HURT A POP SOUND AND L LOOKED UNDER MY CAR AND SAW SOMETHING HANGING. MY LOCAL CHEVRON STATION MECHANIC SAID IT WAS MY "HEAT SHIELD". IT HAD RIPPED TO SHREDS. LAST NOV. AT SANTA MARGARITA FORD I HAD MAJOR TRANSMISSION WORK DONE ON MY 2013 ESCAPE. MY MECHANIC DOESN'T THINK THE HEAT SHIELD WAS PUT BACK ON CORRECTLY. SAME DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME OVER $400 TO REPLACE IT. NO WAY!

DOOR LATCHES BROKE ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. 04/17/14, 04/02/15, AND 10/31/15. FIRST ONE HAPPENED WHEN I OPENED THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND THEN CLOSED IT. IT WAS LIKE METAL HITTING METAL, NO WAY TO CLOSE AND LATCH DOOR. SECOND TIME CLOSED AND LOCKED DOOR, WHEN I CAME OUT OF GROCERY STORE, DRIVER DOOR WAS OPEN ABOUT 1/2 INCH. TRIED TO CLOSE DOOR BUT IT WAS AGAIN METAL HITTING METAL. HAD TO DRIVE HOME HOLDING DOOR SHUT AND DRIVE WITH ONE HAND,RIGHT TURNS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS. THIRD INCIDENT PASSENGER REAR DOOR, OPENED DOOR, WHEN CLOSING IT, IT WAS METAL HITTING METAL AGAIN. ALL THREE TIMES I HAD MY 2 SMALL GRANDCHILDREN IN CAR SEATS IN THE BACK. THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION FROM FORD TO CORRECT THESE DOOR LATCHES. BESIDES THE DANGER IT IS AN EXPENSIVE FIX. IT HAS COST ME ALMOST $900.00 FOR THESE REPAIRS. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS BEFORE SOME ONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. THE ONLY ONE LEFT TO BREAK IS THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. THIS IS A BIG CONCERN FOR ME!

  3. Other or unspecified, Jun 20, 2016

THE LATCH SYSTEMS ON BOTH REAR DOORS HAVE BROKEN CAUSING THEM TO FLY OPEN. THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR BROKE IN JANUARY OF 2016 UPON OPENING IN THE GARAGE, THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. THE SECOND REAR DOOR BROKE 6 MONTHS LATER, IN JUNE OF 2016, ALSO WHEN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. IN BOTH CASES A PASSENGER HAD TO HOLD THE DOORS CLOSED ON THE INSIDE TO BE ABLE TO GET THEM TO THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT THEM FLYING OPEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. EACH DOOR COST OVER $300 TO REPAIR.

  4. Other or unspecified, Jun 13, 2016

CORRESPONDENCE WITH FLOOD FORD OF EAST GREENWICH, RI TO: MICHAEL WHYTE (FORD SERVICE ADVISER), RE: CRASH RISK WITH 2013 FORD ESCAPE (STALLING WHILE DRIVING AND ALSO LACK OF BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE VEHICLE WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING). VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS FOR SAME PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD DIAGNOSE AND/OR REPLICATE PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE AND CIRCUMSTANCE HAS BEEN REPORTED NUMEROUS TIMES UPON GOGGLE SEARCHES (PLEASE SEE BELOW). I CONTACTED THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AGAIN TODAY TO DOCUMENT THE SITUATION SURROUNDING OUR VEHICLE (CASE # 8980601). PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAD CONTACTED THEM ORIGINALLY ON FEBRUARY 29TH (CASE #8916920) AND THEY REFERRED ME TO THE FLOOD DEALERSHIP AFTER WE HAD BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE TASCA DEALERSHIP ON FEBRUARY 28TH AND 29TH. THEY TRIED TO CONTACT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT FLOOD FORD AT 4:00PM TODAY BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO GET THROUGH. I ALSO CONTACTED THE CONSUMERS FOR AUTO RELIABILITY AND SAFETY AND THEY RESPONDED BACK WITH THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE AND STRONGLY EMPHASIZED NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL CRASH RISK. I AM ALSO IN THE PROCESS OF REPORTING THE DEFECT TO THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION AND HAVE ALSO CONTACTED THE WJAR CONSUMER ADVOCATE DEPARTMENT SURROUNDING OUR DILEMMA TO SEE IF THEY CAN HELP US AS WELL. HOPEFULLY THE EXPERTS AT FORD CAN HELP PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INSIGHTS AS TO HOW TO BEST ADDRESS THIS SITUATION. MAJOR PROBLEM WITH FORD VEHICLES SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERING LIFT GATE GLASS. 2013 ESCAPE'S REAR GLASS SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED TWO TIMES IN 10 DAYS. IN BOTH INCIDENTS THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. THE FIRST TIME THE CAR WAS IN FREEZING TEMPS, WARMING UP W/DEFROST ON. THE SECOND TIME THE CAR WAS IN FREEZING TEMPS BUT NOT STARTED.

  12. Other or unspecified, Oct 29, 2015

MY CAR RUNS FINE WHEN I START IT AFTER IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A WHILE. IF I MAKE A STOP AND TURN MY CAR OFF, AND THEN RESTART IT WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, IT BEGINS TO STALL AS I AM DRIVING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I HAVE TO SHUT MY CAR OFF AND RESTART IT . MOST TIMES I HAVE TO RESTART IT 3 TO 4 TIMES BEFORE IT STOPS STALLING. THIS IS UNSAFE BECAUSE I AM TYPICALLY IN TRAFFIC WHEN IT STALLS. SO I HAVE TO STOP WHEREVER MY CAR STALLS IN ORDER TO RESTART IT. THIS NORMALLY HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS.

  13. Other or unspecified, Sep 29, 2015

MY CAR HAS HAD A TOTAL OF 12 RECALLS. IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS I HAVE HAD THE CAR TO WILSON FORD FOUR TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE GOING TO WORK. THE CAR STUTTERED, ACTING LIKE IT WASN'T GETTING ANY GAS AND WANTED TO STALL. I WAS AFRAID I WAS GOING TO GET HIT FROM BEHIND. THE CAR WOULD ONLY GO ABOUT 30-40 MILES AN HOUR. WILSON FORD SAID THEY REPLACED A MAP SENSOR. I DROVE THE CAR FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED . WILSON'S TOLD ME THE SENSOR WAS BAD. THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. THEY THEN SAID THEY HAD TO RESET THE COMPUTER AND FIX A FRACTURED WIRE. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE CAR LAST THURSDAY. MY GRANDSON WAS A PASSENGER. THIS PROBLEM AGAIN OCCURRED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ALSO FORD COMPANY WITHOUT ANY SATISFACTION. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA ON SEPT 28 VIA TELEPHONE. I SPOKE WITH AMY AROUND 7PM. I GAVE HER ALL MY INFO. WE WERE CUT OFF BY HER LINE. I'M NOT SURE ALL INFO WAS RECORDED. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED THE WV STATE ATTORNEYS OFFICE. MY CAR IS STILL AT WILSON FORD. I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM.

  14. Other or unspecified, Aug 28, 2015

THE LATCH ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR BROKE. I DID NOT SLAM IT OR EVEN SHUT IS HARD. I WAS ABLE TO BUNGIE THE DOOR CLOSED AND GOT IT TO THE DEALER TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I WENT TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE AFTER THE WORK WAS COMPLETE AND WHEN THEY WENT TO GET IT THEY SAID THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT. THE ATTENDANT WHO WENT TO GET IT SAID THE DOOR WAS OPEN SLIGHTLY WHEN HE GOT IN. SO I HAD TWO LATCHES BREAK WITHIN A MATTER OF HOURS, AND I STILL DON'T HAVE THE VEHICLE WITH ME. I CAME HOME AND SAW THAT THERE WERE RECALLS ON SOME OF FORD'S OTHER MODELS. THIS IS CONCERNING BECAUSE IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THESE LATCHES BREAK FOR NO REASON AND AT RANDOM TIMES. I HAVE A YOUNG DAUGHTER AND NOW IT WILL BE IN THE BACK OF MY MIND WILL ANOTHER LATCH BREAK WHEN SHE IS IN THE VEHICLE, OR WILL MY WIFE OR I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT FALLING OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. FORD HAS RECALLED LATCHES ON OTHER VEHICLES AND FROM THE PICTURES I HAVE SEEN LOOK ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THE THE ONES THAT BROKE ON OURS.

MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH, THE PART WHICH CATCHES THE METAL BAR WHICH IS CONNECTED TO THE VEHICLE, DOES NOT CLOSE AND SECURELY SHUT THE PASSENGER DOOR. IT WILL REMAIN OPEN AND OPEN UP IF I MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. THE LATCH MECHANISM IS MALFUNCTIONING AND DOES NOT KEEP THE REAR DOOR CLOSED.

DOOR LATCH BROKE TWICE WHILE CAR WAS PARKED. BOTH TIMES I WAS SHOPPING AND CAME OUT TO FIND DOOR LATCH POPPED OPEN. FIRST TIME WAS 04/17/2014, REAR DRIVERS SIDE AND SECOND TIME WAS 03/28/15, DRIVER SIDE DOOR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU CAN NOT CLOSE THE DOOR OR LATCH IT IN ANYWAY. I HAD TO FIND ROPE AND BUNGY CORDS TO TRY TO SECURE IT SHUT. I WAS TRANSPORTING MY GRANDCHILDREN AT THE TIME, ONE PRESCHOOLER AND ONE INFANT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. AFTER 2ND LATCH BROKE I TALKED WITH A FORD CAR SALESMAN WHO INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR LATCHES.HE INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAVE BEEN RECALLED ON CERTAIN FORD VEHICLES.THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD! CHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IF DOOR SUDDENLY SWUNG OPEN WHILE DRIVING, ESPECIALLY IF YOU TURN A CORNER AND HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE BACK DOOR.

THE BACK LEFT REAR DOOR OPENED WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY, WITH MY 9 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE BACK SEAT. THANKS GOD NO ONE GET HURT. BUT IT WAS A VERY TRAUMATIC MOMENT FOR US. THEN WHEN I VISIT THE DEALER FORD MAYAGUEZ PUERTO RICO THEY SAID THAT I MUST PAY FOR REPLACEMENTS OF LATCHES. I LOOK FOR THE SAFETY RECALLS OF MY VEHICLE FORD ESCAPE 2013 AND IT WAS THE SAFETY RECALL #NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 13V-085 LATCHES/LOCK/LINKAGES. THE DEALER SAID THAT MY UNIT BY VIN # WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I HAVE A CONCERN, IT HAPPEN TO MY UNIT AND THERE ARE A LOT OF FORD ESCAPE VEHICLES AFFECTED, IT COULD BE WORST, I ASK FOR YOUR HELP IN THIS MATTER. IS NOT FAIR THAT MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL WHEN THAT PROBLEM HAPPEN TO IT, THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. I CAN NOT USE IT IF I HAVE TO PARK IT BECAUSE THE DOOR DOESN'T CLOSE. HELP ME PLEASE.

99% OF THE TIME I PUT MY FOOT FROM THE GAS TO THE BRAKE , MY FOOT ENDS UP UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL ON THE UNDERCORNER BEFORE I MAKE A QUICK ADJUSTMENT TO GET MY FOOT ON TOP OF THE BRAKE WHERE IT BELONGS. THIS HAPPENS EVERYDAY SINCE I GOT THE VEHICLE. YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE WHERE THERE IS A WORN SPOT UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ON THE VERY MOST RIGHT SIDE OF IT. I CURSE IT EVERY SINGLE TIME, EVERY SINGLE DAY. ONE OF THESE DAYS I CAN SEE IT COMING. I WOULD SAY THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT.

THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE, AFTER BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO FORD MARGATE THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCH ON THE BACK DOOR WAS BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED ON OTHER FORD VEHICLES AND WAS ON RECALL FOR SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES TYPES BUT NOT YET FOR THE FORD ESCAPE 2013. I WAS TOLD TO KEEP MY RECEIPT SO IF THIS DOES BECOME A RECALL I WILL BE REIMBURSED. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CERTAIN SINCE IT HAD HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OTHER VEHICLES IT WOULD ONLY BE A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL IT BECAME A RECALL ON THE FORD ESCAPE. I AM GRATEFUL THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND THAT THE LATCH DIDN'T BRAKE WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION BECOMING A SEVERE ENDANGERMENT FOR MYSELF, FAMILY AND OTHERS.

I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND SUDDENLY MY REAR PASSENGER TIRE BLEW OUT. WHEN THE TIRE WAS CHANGED BY AAA, I NOTICED THE INNER SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE WAS BLOWN OUT. ALL OF THE YEARS THAT I HAVE BEEN DRIVING, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A HOLE BLOWN OUT IN A TIRE LIKE I HAVE WITH THIS ONE. I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH AND I'VE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPENING. I BELIEVE THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THESE TIRES AND I BELIEVE SOME ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN AGAINST THIS COMPANY; IT IS WORTH AN INSPECTION ANYWAY. I WILL BE CONTACTING THE CONTINENTAL TIRE COMPANY MYSELF TO VOICE MY CONCERN. I'VE DRIVEN MANY VEHICLES AND I HAVE NOT HAD TIRES FAIL SO SOON, ESPECIALLY BEING MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES.

MY HUSBAND SET OUT TO CHANGE AND ROTATE MY TIRES THIS AFTERNOON. AFTER VERIFYING THE ARROWS ON MY CAR FOR PLACEMENT OF THE JACK, AND CHECKING WITH MY CAR MANUAL, HE WENT TO WORK. WHILE HE WAS REMOVING THE BACK PASSENGER TIRE, AFTER JACKING THE CAR, I DISCERNED CAR MOVEMENT. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO WARN MY HUSBAND BEFORE THE DEFECTIVE FORD ESCAPE JACK BENT AND CRACKED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO COME DOWN HARD ON THE GROUND. MY HUSBAND'S HANDS WERE ALMOST PINNED BENEATH THE CAR AND I AM LIVID. THIS WAS EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING TO US BOTH! HE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE FORD ESCAPE 2013 HAS BEEN NO PICNIC, WITH THE SEVERAL RECALLS SINCE 2012, ONE OCCURRING IMMEDIATELY AFTER WE PURCHASED WITH VEHICLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN 11/17/12. WE LOST THE CAR FOR ABOUT A MONTH, WHILE THEY KEPT IT AT THE DEALERSHIP, UNTIL THE PARTS HAD ARRIVED THAT WERE NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS THE FINAL STRAW. WE ARE GOING TO TRADE IN THIS POTENTIALLY DISASTROUS VEHICLE, BEFORE SOMEONE IN OUR FAMILY DOES GET INJURED. IT HAS BEEN (SEEMINGLY) ONE RECALL AFTER ANOTHER, TOO. NOW, THERE IS A RECALL FOR MY CAR REGARDING THE BACK PASSENGER DOORS APPARENTLY OPENING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AND COULD PROVE DEADLY FOR CHILDREN, IF IMPROPERLY HARNESSED. WE HAVE 2 CHILDREN, BOY, 9 AND GIRL, 5. THAT IS NOT ANOTHER RISK I AM WILLING TO TAKE EITHER. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY TO EXPRESS THIS EXPERIENCE. SINCERELY, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).' *JB

WHEN STARTING, CAR SHOWS "ENGINE FAULT, SERVICE NOW" LIGHT. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES, HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. RECENTLY, WHEN BRAKING FOR A STOP LIGHT, ENGINE FAULT REAPPEARED AND LOST ALL POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.

  23. Structure, Other or unspecified, May 11, 2015

TWICE THE PASSENGER INTERIOR DOOR FRAMES HAVE SEPARATED FROM THE DOOR AND BECAME CAUGHT ON ITEMS INSIDE THE VEHICLE SUCH AS THE SEAT ETC. THIS CAUSES THE DOOR TO BECOME STUCK AND UNABLE TO OPEN. BOTH TIMES IT TOOK WE WELL OVER 30 MINUTES TO DISLODGE THE FRAME AND REATTACH TO THE FRAME TO BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. BOTH TIMES, THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN JUST PARKED AND I WAS TRYING TO RETRIEVE MY INFANT DAUGHTER FROM THE BACK SEAT. I FEAR THAT IF I HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SAFELY RETRIEVE MY DAUGHTER FROM THE VEHICLE. IF THIS OCCURS WITH NO IMPACT, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IN CASE OF AN IMPACT? WOULD ALL 4 DOORS BECOME LODGED?

  24. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Jun 25, 2013

WHEN THE START BUTTON OF THE VEHICLE IS PRESSED, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND SYNCH PANEL OF THE VEHICLE WILL ENERGIZE BUT THE STARTER MOTOR WILL NEITHER TURN OVER NOR ENGAGE. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND HAS NEITHER BEEN REPRODUCED NOR CORRECTLY DIAGNOSED AT A FORD DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. NO ERRORS CODES HAVE EVER BEEN RECOVERED FROM THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE MALFUNCTION WHEN A FORD MECHANIC HAS SEARCHED THE SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NONE OF THE ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BEING SUCCESSFUL.
