Recalls and investigations

  1. Equipment, electrical, engine block heaterJan 15, 2026

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Focus, 2013-2019 Escape, and 2015-2016 MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.

An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.

Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed March 6, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S01. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on January 16, 2026.

  2. Power train, automatic transmission, gear position indication (prndl)Jun 10, 2022

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

  3. Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchJun 8, 2020

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

  4. Power train, automatic transmission, lever and linkage, floor shiftJul 16, 2018

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2014 Ford Escape, and 2013-2016 Ford Fusion vehicles, equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions. The bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission may degrade over time and cause the bushing to detach from the transmission. The condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to Park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in Park, with no warning message or audible chime.

If the vehicle is exited without the transmission being in Park and without the parking brake being applied, the vehicle may unexpectedly move, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the shifter cable bushing, free of charge. The recall began September 20, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S20. Note: Owners are directed to use the parking brake until the recall remedy repairs can be made.

A component within the door latches may break, preventing the doors from latching and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.

Due to an assembly misalignment between the exterior door handle and the door outer panel, the affected vehicles have doors that may be difficult to close or may possibly open while driving.

A door that opens unexpectedly may result in an unrestrained occupant falling from the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and correct the mounting of the door handles, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on May 30, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S03.

  15. Engine and engine coolingDec 3, 2012

This is an update to a recently announced recall. Ford is recalling certain model year 2013 Escape vehicles manufactured from October 5, 2011, through November 26, 2012, equipped with 1.6L engines, as well as certain model year 2013 Fusion vehicles manufactured from February 3, 2012, through November 29, 2012, equipped with 1.6L engines. Coolant system leaks may cause the engines to overheat and leak flammable engine fluids.

If flammable engine fluids come in contact with the vehicle’s hot exhaust system, a vehicle fire could occur.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the engine for coolant system leaks and reprogram the vehicle’s powertrain control module and instrument cluster with an updated calibration and overheat strategy software. There will be no charge to owners for this service. Owners were recently notified to contact dealers to arrange for alternative transportation as Ford developed a remedy. Owners will be shortly receiving notifications to contact Ford dealers to schedule the free remedy repair. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

As leaking engine coolant evaporates on the hot engine, the glycol may ignite causing an engine compartment fire.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will seal the existing plug and add a secondary plug cover, free of charge. The safety recall began on September 11, 2012. Owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.

IT HAPPENED USUALLY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING 50 TO 100 FEET AND THEN IT WOULD START TO SPUTTER AND DIE. I GOT NO LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. IT SEEMS TO DO IT EVERY TWO OR THREE STOPS. SONORA FORD CHECKED IT AND SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHECK IT LATER THEY TOLD ME SOMETHING WAS WRONG IN THE MANIFOLD BUT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TERRET DOWN TO FIND OUT. THEY SAID I WHAT IS MISSING A BOLT IN MY MANIFOLD GASKET. THE MANIFOLD GASKET WAS REPLACED BUT AFTER ONE WEEK IT WAS STILL WAS STALLING. I TOOK IT BACK A WEEK LATER AND THE MANAGER OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DROVE IT HOME TO HIS HOUSE WHILE IT WAS HOOKED UP TO SOME MACHINEAND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THEY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. I TOOK IT HOME AND AFTER A FEW WEEKS THE STALLING SEEMED TO STOP ON ITS OWN UNTIL NOVEMBER 2020 NOW IT'S STALLING AGAIN. I WENT ON THE INTERNET AND LOOKED UP MY CAR AND FOUND THAT THERE'S BEEN TROUBLE FOR YEARS WITH THIS CAR STALLING BUT SONORA FORD DID NOT BOTHER TO TELL ME THIS. ANY TIME I GET GAS THE CAR DOES NOT START IMMEDIATELY. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AND DECELERATING IT SHUT OFF ON ME. INITIALLY WAS TOLD IT WAS MY REMOTE START UNTIL I GOT GAS AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START. WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT IT SHUT OFF AND TOOK A MINUTE TO START BACK UP. WHILE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION THE CAR BEGAN TO MAKE A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE GAS TANK AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT RESTART.

  7. Steering, Nov 24, 2020

POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING IN JACKSONVILLE, FL. THE VEHICLE IS VERY HARD TO STEER, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING SLOW. WE BOUGHT THIS 2013 FORD ESCAPE SEL BRAND NEW IN 2013 FROM PARKWAY FORD IN DICKINSON, NORTH DAKOTA. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR POWER STEERING GOING OUT. THE CODE ON MY VEHICLE IS: U3000:53-C8 FROM A CODE READER. THE VEHICLE FAILED AFTER FILING WITH FUEL, BUT AFTER SHUTTING DOWN AND RESTARTING IT WAS FINE AGAIN. LATER THE NEXT DAY IT WENT COMPLETELY OUT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE.

  8. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Engine, Nov 24, 2020

FREQUENTLY AND USUALLY RIGHT AFTER I TURN THE CAR ON, THE ABS LIGHT WILL COME ON, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL COME ON, AND THEN MY CAR WILL STALL. I CAN USUALLY CRAWL INTO A PARKING SPACE/OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. OCCASIONALLY THE HILL START ASSIST LIGHT WILL COME ON AND OCCASIONALLY THE 4WD DISABLED LIGHT WILL COME ON. THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL HAVE COME ON ON THE INTERSTATE AND HIGHWAYS BEFORE, BUT THEY HAVE ONLY CAUSED MY CAR TO STALL (LUCKILY) RIGHT AFTER I TURN IT ON AND BEGIN TO MOVE. THE HILL START ASSIST WILL USUALLY ONLY COME ON IF I COME TO A FULL STOP WHILE DRIVING, WHETHER I AM ON A HILL OR NOT. THIS HAPPENED ONCE WHEN WE FIRST GOT THE CAR (4.5 YEARS AGO). IT DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. IT NOW HAS STARTED HAPPENING VERY FREQUENTLY AT MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS OR SO.

  10. Power train, Vehicle speed control, Engine, Nov 21, 2020

STARTING IN MAY OF 2020 MY FORD ESCAPE STARTED STALLING WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET AS WELL AS THE EXPRESSWAY IT HESITATES IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE THE MOMENT YOU TAP THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR STARTS TO SPUTTER AND THEN COMPLETELY STALLS OUT AND STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF WHEREVER YOU ARE THE STREET PARKING LOT IT DOESN'T MATTER IT ALSO HAS DONE THIS BACK-TO-BACK MULTIPLE TIMES OCCURRING MAYBE FOUR TO SIX TIMES IN A ROW BARELY ALLOWING ME TO MAKE IT FROM ONE DESTINATION TO THE OTHER. THE ESCAPE ALSO OVERHEATED REPLACED THE COOLANT SENSOR REPLACED THE FUEL REGULATOR AND IT STILL DOES THE SAME EXACT THING. IT JUST DECREASED THE AMOUNT OF TIMES THAT IT WOULD DO IT IN A ROW SO NOW IT DOES IT TO THREE TIMES. IT ALSO STALLS OUT AND DIES WHILE IT STOPLIGHTS MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURN AS YOU'RE APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION COMING TO A STOP BARELY HITTING THE ACCELERATOR

MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE CONTINUES TO LOSE ENGINE COOLANT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO GARY SMITH FORD OF FORT WALTON BCH FL AFTER RESEARCHING AND FINDING THE VEHICLE HAD A RECALL 13S12. THIS RECALL WAS COMPLETED ON MY VEHICLE 23-JULY-14 BY AUTONATION FORD OF JACKSONVILLE FL AT THE TIME OF REPAIR THE VEHICLE HAD 42780. I'M NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER HOWEVER THE RECALL WAS SUPPOSE TO BE THE REMEDY TO FIX THE PROBLEM I'M NOW HAVING. I'M BEING TOLD I HAVE COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE #3 CYLINDER AND WILL REQUIRE A ENGINE REPLACEMENT. NOT TO MENTION A POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT FORD'S FIX FOR THIS IS. I'M SURE CONSUMERS WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THAT THEY ONLY HAVE LIMITED AMOUNT OF MILES ON THEIR ENGINES. MY VEHICLE HAS A 140K MILES AND WELL MAINTAINED ONLY TO FIND OUT IT NO LONGER ANY GOOD BECAUSE OF EITHER A DESIGN FLAW OR JUST A POOR PRODUCT. I'VE GONE FROM TAKING MY CAR IN TO BE SERVICED FOR WHAT SEEMED TO BE SOMETHING MINOR TO NEEDING A COMPLETE MOTOR REPLACEMENT AND FORD MOTOR CO IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. SO AT THIS TIME I HAVE TO MONITOR MY COOLANT LEVELS SO MY VEHICLE DOESN'T OVERHEAT AND PRAY THE VEHICLE DOESN'T CATCH FIRE. HOWEVER IF IT DOES CATCH FIRE I GUESS THAT WILL JUST BE A ISSUE BETWEEN ME AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW FORD MOTOR CO CAN BE ALLOWED TO DO THIS.

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE STALLS THEN SHUTS DOWN . THEN WHILE JUST DRIVING IT DOES THE SAME. THIS HAPPENS WHILE ACTIVELY DRIVING THE CAR .

2013 FORD ESCAPE ECOBOOST 1.6 MY VEHICLE STALLS AT LOW SPEEDS OR WHILE IDLING. THIS ONLY SEEMS TO HAPPEN AFTER THE VEHICLE IS WARM. IT NEVER HAPPENS FIRST THING IN THE MORNING ONLY AFTER I HAVE PARKED THE VEHICLE FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF MAYBE 30 MIN OR LESS OR WHILE IDLING. SOMETIMES THE RPM WOULD SHOOT UP TO 6 AND THE VEHICLE FEELS LIKE IT IS THRUSTING FORWARD AFTER WHICH IT WOULD EITHER STALL IMMEDIATELY OR I AM ABLE TO KEEP DRIVING WITHOUT ISSUE. IT HAS HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION AND LUCKILY THERE WAS A POLICE OFFICER PASSING AND HE WAS ABLE TO ESCORT ME TO A SIDE STREET WHILE THE VEHICLE STALLED A REAL TIMES TO GET THERE. BEFORE I PULL ON TO A ROAD AFTER STALLING I HAVE WITH TRAFFIC I HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND THE PARKING LOT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STALL AGAIN BEFORE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY ON RAMP AFTER I HAD JUST REFUELED. ONCE THE VEHICLE PASSES THE STALLING ISSUE IT DRIVES WITHOUT ISSUE. I HAVE SO FAR REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND FLP SENSOR AND THIS HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I AM ACTUALLY SCARED FOR MY LIFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I WON'T ALLOW MY DAUGHTER TO DRIVE IT FOR FEAR IT MAY KILL HER.

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR HAS STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. IT ALSO WILL LEAK COOLANT SOMETIMES IM ABLE TO SEE THE PUDDLE UNDER THE CAR PARKED BUT SOMETIMES NO PUDDLE WHICH MEANS ITS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ALSO WILL GO HAYWIRE AND SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING THE NEEDLES WILL FALL TO THE BOTTOM SHOOT TO THE TOP AND IT WILL HAVE AN ENGINE WARMING AND SOMETIMES JUST SHUTS OFF ALL TOGETHER EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS STILL MECHANICALLY ON AND RUNNING. THERE ARE SEVERAL RECALLS THAT ALL COVER THESE ISSUES IM HAVING HOWEVER MY VEHICLE IS NOT LISTED IN THE EFFECTED VEHICLES. THESE ISSUES HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING IN ANY CAPACITY OR PARKED. IT HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY THE FREEWAY THE SIDE STREETS WHILE PARKED WHILE MOVING SLOWLY. IT HAS BECOME AN ISSUE THAT IM WORRIED TO DEAL WITH BECAUSE I DONT HAVE THE FUNDS TO FIX THE CAR BUT THE CAR IS SO UNSAFE IM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. I DO HAVE A VIDEO OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL MESSING UP IF ITS NEEDED.

MY SUV HAS SUDDENLY LOSS ACCELERATION WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A PARKING SPACE, STOP SIGN AND OUT OF A RESTAURANT PARKING LOT ONTO THE HIGHWAY. IT WILL SPUTTER LIKE IT'S NOT GETTING GAS AND TWO TIMES HAS COMPLETELY CUT OFF WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. I HAVE SMASHED THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO NO AVAIL NOTHING HAPPENED. THE SUV DIDN'T SPEED UP NOR START TO EVEN MOVE FAST. IT WOULD SLOWLY JERK ONTO THE ROAD, AND AS I SAID TWICE HAS CUT OFF ANOTHER TIME IT DID FINALLY GET GAS AND GO. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT NO CODES SHOWED UP ON THE MACHINE THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE SUV. THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT, BESIDES ME BEING NERVOUS TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC WITHOUT GETTING HIT BECAUSE THE SUV WON'T ACCELERATE DOWN THE ROAD. IT HAS ALSO CUT OFF WHILE SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY IDLE. IT DOES START TO SHIMMER/SHAKE LIKE IT'S NOT IDLED HIGH ENOUGH AND THEN IT JUST CUTS OFF.

SINCE I PURCHASED MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE, I HAVE HAD 5 RECALLS THAT WERE FIXED TO MY SATISFACTION AT KUNES FORD. MY MOST EXPENSIVE REPAIR WAS FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING RACK ASSEMBLY ON JULY20, 2020 AT A COST OF $2400. MY MILEAGE AT THIS TIME WAS 55,602. I ENCOUNTERED TWO INCIDENTS WHERE MY STEERING WHEEL FROZE. I WAS PARKED AT THIS TIME AND IT CORRECTED ITSELF. THE FOLLOWING DAY IT OCCURRED AGAIN AND I GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE 'POWER STEERING FAILURE.' FORTUNATELY, THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS PARKED. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS THAT THIS HAPPENED TO OTHERS WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING. I CONTACTED FORD AND KUNES AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON THE ESCAPE, ALTHOUGH OTHER OWNERS OF THE ESCAPE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. KUNES TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER ESCAPES THAT THEY REPAIRED AS THEY DID MINE, AND CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY FORD HAS NOT RECALLED THESE VEHICLES FOR THE PROBLEM I EXPERIENCED. I RESEARCHED FURTHER AND THERE WERE RECALLS FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM ON THE 2013 F150, FOCUS AND TAURUS. THIS EXPENSE WAS A HARDSHIP FOR ME AND MY HUSBAND. WE ARE RETIRED AND ON A FIXED INCOME. I CALLED AND SENT A LETTER TO FORD AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THERE WAS NO RECALL. I FORTUNATELY WAS NOT INJURED BUT AM CONCERNED THAT THEY DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND WARN OTHER OWNERS.

I HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR A FEW YEARS NOW AND BOUGHT USED FROM A DEALERSHIP SCOTT FORD. MY CAR HAD LOW MILES AND IT WAS IN MY BUDGET, PLUS GOOD ON GAS AND FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD FARLEY SAFE. THIS CAR HAS GIVEN ME SO MANY PROBLEMS SINCE PURCHASING IT AND HAS LEFT ME OUT OF HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. MY LATEST ISSUE IS A HUGE ONE AND I BELIEVE THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS CAR AFTER DOING MY RESEARCH AS SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SADLY HAD TO DEAL WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I PICK MY YOUNG CHILDREN UP FROM A CARLINE AT THEIR SCHOOL, AND ONE DAY WHEN I WAS THERE MY CAR STARTED TO REV UP SLIGHTLY THEN IT STALLED ON ME COMPLETELY. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED THE SECOND TIME WITH SLIGHT HESITATION ON THE ENGINES PART. LONG STORY SHORT MY CAR STALLED ON ME A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES. THE THIRD TIME I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY FROM CAR LINE AND PARKED ACROSS 3 PARKING SPACES AS IT STALLED ON ME AGAIN. I POPPED MY HOOD AND MY ENGINE SEEMED TO BE EXTREMELY HOT, THEN I SAT THERE WITH MY 2 YOUNG CHILDREN, THANKFULLY ON A DECENTLY NICE DAY OUTSIDE FOR A HALF HOUR. I WAS ABLE TO START IT AGAIN AND WENT TO LEAVE TO HEAD HOME, AND JUST AS I WAS ABOUT TO GET INTO THE TURNING LANE IT STALLED RIGHT ACROSS ON COMING TRAFFIC. I HAD TO ROLL MY WINDO DOWN AND MOTION PEOPLE TO STOP AS I FRANTICALLY TRIED TO START MY CAR AGAIN. AFTER 2 TRIES I WAS ABLE TO START IT AND WENT INTO REVERSE AND PARKED IN THE SCHOOLS PARKING LOT, SINCE THIS INCIDENT MY CAR HAS STALLED A TOTAL OF 11 TIMES, AND JUST AGAIN ONCE THIS AFTERNOON WHEN I WAS LEAVING THE GROCERY STORE REVERSING OUT OF MY PARKING SPOT. I FEEL THIS IS EXTREMELY UNFAIR BECAUSE I AM STILL LIKE SO MANY PEOPLE MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS VEHICLE. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY CHILDREN'S SAFETY AND OTHERS BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS A POS. I AM VERY UPSET BY THIS I PAID GOOD MONEY FOR THIS VEHICLE AND ALL THE DEALERSHIP WILL DO IS CHARGE ME OUTRAGEOUSLY AND NOT CARE

I WENT THRU THE CAR WASH AND TRIED TO PUT MY CAR FROM NEUTRAL TO DRIVE AND THE GEAR JUMPED INTO PARK JAMING THE TRANSMISSION INTO REVERSE. THEN I LOST ALL POWER, I COULDN'T START MY CAR AND BEGAN TO BE REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER CAR WASH CUSTOMER. I HAD TO HABE THE CAR TOWED FOR REPAIRS & RENT A CAR UNTIL REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THERE ARE RECALLS FROM FORD ON THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE. FORD REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD TO PAY FOR REPAIRS AND "IF" A RECALL COMES AVAILABLE THEN I WOULD BE COMPENSATED. THANK GOD I WASN'T DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT THE POINT THIS BUSHING BROKE LOOSE! THIS IS A HAZARD FOR MORE THAN A FEW 2013 FORD ESCAPES AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE LIST OF VIN# FOR THE RECALL. VERY UNSATISFIED FROM THE FORD COMPANY.

COOLANT LEAKING IN ENGINE 5/2017 COOLANT LEAKING IN ENGINE 10/2017 ON BOTH OCCASIONS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. I HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM DATED 2012 AND I NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE. THEY TOLD ME MY VIN WASN'T AFFECTED. I SAY IT WAS. CAR IS DEAD NOW DUE TO COOLANT WARPING BOTTOM OF THE BLOCK. IT IS ON,Y 7YRS OLD! I HAVE DOCUMENTS FROM DEALERSHIP .I DON'T KNOW HOW TO UPLOAD. CAN SUPPLY RO #'S IF NEEDED

  25. Engine, Nov 4, 2020

MY ENGINE STARTED OVERHEATING AND THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON AND SMOKE EMERGED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. UPON INSPECTION THERE WAS ANTIFREEZE LEAKING ONTO THE ENGINE FROM WHAT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS COMING FROM THE RESERVOIR AREA. I TOOK MY FORD TO FIRESTONE AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED A NEW HEATER HOSE. I HAD THE HEATER HOSE REPLACED LAST WEEK AND TODAY I HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN, ENGINE OVERHEATED LIGHT CAME ON AND SMOKE EMERGED. I THINK MY 2013 MODEL ESCAPE SEL MAY HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS BEFORE BUT THE ISSUE WAS NEVER ADDRESSED WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND ANY PASSENGERS THAT MAY BE RIDDING WITH ME DUE TO THE RISK OF FIRE IN MY ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION IN BOTH OCCURRENCES BEFORE AND AFTER THE HEATER HOSE REPLACEMENT. BOTH INCIDENTS WERE GOING APPROPRIATELY 40 MILES PER HOUR ON A CITY STREET.
