Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Focus, 2013-2019 Escape, and 2015-2016 MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.
An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed March 6, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Flex, 2015 Explorer, Lincoln MKT, Lincoln MKZ, 2015-2016 C-Max, Escape, Taurus, 2016 Fusion, 2018-2019 Taurus, 2019 Lincoln MKT, Fiesta, and 2020 Mustang vehicles. The rearview camera may display a distorted, intermittent, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse.
A rearview camera that fails to properly display an image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge. This will be a phased campaign, with the remedy becoming available in different phases based on model and model years. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on October 25, 2025. Additional letters will be mailed once the final remedy is available on each phase. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.
A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014 Ford F-150 and E-350, 2014-2015 Ford Escape, and 2015 Lincoln MKC vehicles. Improperly manufactured bolts may have been used to install certain seats, seatbacks, seatbelt buckles, or seatbelt anchors on these vehicles.
The improperly manufactured bolts may fracture. If a seat, seatback, or seatbelt anchor attaching bolt fractures, the affected component may not be properly secured, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected bolts, free of charge. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk were mailed September 8, 2017. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015 Ford Escape vehicles manufactured April 1, 2014, to June 12, 2015, Ford Focus vehicles manufactured June 17, 2014, to June 12, 2015, and Ford C-Max vehicles manufactured April 22, 2014, to June 12, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the engine may continue to run after the key or the START/STOP engine button is turned to off. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
If the engine does not turn off as expected, someone could move the transmission shifter out of park and the vehicle may move unintentionally, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ford Escape vehicles manufactured May 19, 2014, to February 6, 2015, and Transit Connect vehicles manufactured May 11, 2014, to July 2, 2015. Due to a software incompatibility issue, the instrument panel cluster be inoperative including a blank multiple functional display (MFD), and non-functional warning chimes, messages and warning lights. Specific warning chimes, messages and warning lights. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Control and Displays."
If the instrument cluster is inoperative, the driver of may not be warned of safety related issues such as low tire pressures or disabled air bags, increasing the risk of personal injury or a crash.

STOPPED AT SECURITY GATE, PASSENGER GOT OUT AND OPENED THE GATE. I DROVE THROUGH THE GATE, PLACED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND BACKED UP 10 FEET TO LET THE PASSENGER GET IN AFTER CLOSING AND LOCKING GATE. PLACED THE SHIFTER IN DRIVE AND EXPECTED TO MOVE FORWARD AND IT STILL BACKED UP. PLACED THE SHIFTER IN REVERSE AGAIN AND BACK TO DRIVE AND IT STILL BACKED UP. PLACED THE SHIFTER IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE MOTOR AND IT STILLED ROLLED FORWARD ON THE SLIGHT DOWN HILL. HAD TO USE THE HAND BRAKE TO HOLD THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING. TURNED OFF KEY. TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND EVERY TIME THE ALARM SAID CAR WAS IN REVERSE. WHEN KEY WAS TURNED ON THE BACK UP LIGHTS AND BACK UP ASSIST SCREEN CAME ON. LOADED VEHICLE UP ON FLAT BED TRAILER AND TOWED IT HOME. CALLED FORD DEALER ON MONDAY MORNING AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AND WAS FIXED BY USING THE PARTS FROM FORD RECALL 18S20 TO REPAIR THE CAR. FORD SAID THERE IS NO RECALL FOR 2015 FORD ESCAPE. ASSEMBLY DATE OF VEHICLE IS 10/14 . FORD SHOULD EXTEND THE RECALL TO 2015 YEAR BECAUSE I WAS SITING IN IT WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENED, NOT PARKING AND WALKING AWAY IN MY OWN DRIVEWAY AT HOME TO ROLL OUT IN THE STREET. OR ANY WHERE. I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH STALLING. I HAVE HAD THE MAP SENSOR REPLACED, THE PURGE VALVE SYSTEM DONE TWICE AND THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. THIS CAR WAS BUILT IN DECEMBER 2014. I TOOK IT TO HOLMAN FORD IN TURNERSVILLE NJ AND THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHY IT IS STALLING. I FEEL IT IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT THEY HAD RECALLED 2.0 ECOBOOST ESCAPES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND I CANNOT DRIVE IT MORE THEN A FEW MILES, THEN IT DOESN'T START. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND I FEEL THIS IS PART OF THE RECALL14S17...SSM47575. I WAS DRIVING MY 2015 FORD ESCAPE DOWN THE HIGHWAY. AS I WAS GETTING READY TO GET IN TRAFFIC TO EXIT MY BRAKES WOULDN'T PRESS DOWN. TRYING FRANTICALLY AND AS HARD AS I COULD I COULDN'T GET MY BRAKES TO PRESS DOWN TO SLOW. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO DOWN SHIFT MY CAR AND USE THE E-BRAKE TO GET TO A SHOULDER AND AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I HAD A FRIEND WHO'S A MECHANIC CHECK OUT MY CAR AND HE TOLD ME IT WAS MY VACUUM PUMP FOR MY BRAKES. HE ALSO NOTED WHEN HE SAW WHAT MY CAR WAS AND THAT IT WAS AN ECO BOOST THAT THIS PROBLEM IS WHAT THEY REFER TO AS A SOCCER MOM KILLER. HE'S SEEN THIS BEFORE. WHEN THE PUMP FAILS IT SHOOTS SHRAPNEL INTO MY TURBO THEN INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING SERIOUS DAMAGE THAT WILL COST ME $5000-8000 TO FIX NOW. I HAVE SEEN OTHER FORD MODELS WITH THIS PROBLEM THAT HAVE RECALLS ALREADY BUT NOT MY SPECIFIC MAKE AN MODEL.

FORTUNATE LIGHT TRAFFIC ALL CARS WERE ABLE TO SWITCH LANES WITH OUT ANY MISHAPS. INDICATOR "SERVICE TRANSMISSION NOW" WENT ON CAR LUNGED A FEW TIMES THEN MOVED FORWARD. EACH TIME I STOPPED SAME EVENT OCCURRED. I DROVE BACKROADS AS NOT TO INTERFERE WITH MAJOR TRAFFIC AND FEARFUL OF NOT MOVING AND CREATING A MAJOR INCIDENT. WITHIN LAST WEEK, TWICE WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON A CITY HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. LIGHTS, RADIO, DASHBOARD, ETC. ALL CONTINUED TO WORK. NOTIFICATION CAME ON DASHBOARD STATING "WARNING, VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK." FORTUNATELY, IN BOTH INSTANCES I WAS ABLE TO COAST ONTO THE SHOULDER INTO A PARKING LOT AND AVOID CAUSING A WRECK OR BEING WRECKED INTO. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! WITH CAR SAFELY IN A PARKING LOT, I MOVED MY TRANSMISSION INTO PARK. I TURNED MY KEY TO THE "OFF" POSITION. I REMOVED MY KEY. I REINSERTED THE KEY AND TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE. LIGHTS, RADIO, DASH, ETC. ALL CAME ON. HOWEVER, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THERE WAS NOT A "CLICK" AS IF THE ENGINE WAS TRYING TO TURN OVER. THERE WAS ONLY A NOTIFICATION OF "SYSTEM START FAULT." I TRIED OUR SPARE KEY, AND RECEIVED SAME NOTIFICATION. VEHICLE WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO MOVE TRANSMISSION FROM PARK INTO NEUTRAL TO BE TOWED. STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED UP. ABANDONED VEHICLE. AFTER ABOUT 2 HOURS, RETURNED TO VEHICLE, AND VEHICLE STARTED. TO CLARIFY, EVERYTHING LISTED HERE HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES AND ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS SO FAR. TESTS AT BOTH AUTOZONE AND O'REILY AUTO PARTS CONFIRM - AS I SUSPECTED, SINCE LIGHTS, RADIO, ETC. WOULD TURN ON - THAT THE BATTERY AND THE TRANSMISSION ARE WORKING JUST FINE. THIS IS HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY SHUT OFF!

67K MILES ON ENGINE, OVERHEATED GOING 30 MPH ON RURAL HWY AND ENGINE WARNING CAME ON. DEALERSHIP DISCOVERS THE ANTIFREEZE HAS LEAKED INTO THE PISTON CYLINDERS AND NEEDS A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF $8000. ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED SINCE AT LEAST 2014 AND FORD REFUSES TO HELP WITH COSTS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO REPAIR FACILITY ELITE AUTOMOTIVE LLC LOCATED AT 6113 ENTERPRISE DR, MAINEVILLE, OH 45039, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE TECHNICIAN RETRIEVED DTC NUMBER: P0236 AND REPLACED THE TURBO SENSOR WIRING HARNESS. THE MAP SENSOR WAS ALSO REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,850.

AFTER ONLY 83,000 MILES, MY 2015 FORD ESCAPE TRANSMISSION HAS COMPLETELY FAILED. I WAS DRIVING ON A TWO-LANE STATE HIGHWAY WENT I FELT A JERKING MOTION. THE CAR EVENTUALLY LOST ALL POWER AND STALLED. I RESTARTED IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND IT STARTED BUT REVVED INTENSELY. THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO MOVE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS. THE CAR THEN REVVED WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR. I COULD NOT GET IT TO GO INTO REVERSE OR HIGHER GEARS. I TURNED IT OFF AND ON HOPING IT WOULD RESET. EVENTUALLY I GOT IT TOWED TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. I AM A CONSERVATIVE DRIVER WHO KEEPS HIS MAINTENANCE UP TO DATE. NO SPEEDING TICKETS. NO DRIVING IN HARSH CONDITIONS. CAR IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. BUT WITH NO WARNING, THE TRANSMISSION SIMPLY "WENT OUT." KOONS FORD IN BALTIMORE JUST QUOTED ME $5,250 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION - JUST THE TRANSMISSION NOT LABOR. ADD ANOTHER $1,500 IN LABOR AND I AM AT CLOSE TO $7,000 FOR A CAR WITH 83,000 MILES ON IT. I'LL BE BUYING HONDAS FROM NOW ON. I SHOULD NEVER HAVE SWITCHED. MY TWO HONDA ACCORDS EACH WENT 200,000+ MILES AND MY 2007 PILOT IS AT 195,000. LESSON LEARNED THE HARD WAY.
