  4. Structure, Sep 7, 2023

The contact leased a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that whenever the driver’s side front door was opened or closed, there was an abnormal clunking sound coming from the door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the front driver’s side door weld had fractured, and the front driver’s side door needed to be replaced. The contact was then informed by the dealer that the front driver’s side window might fail to open and close as needed due to the door weld fracture. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.

  5. Structure, Sep 6, 2023

I had a week of squeaking from my door, which I figured it come from the 3 digit high temperatures. The week afterwards I was headed to my car to leave out and my door wouldn't shut all the way and had a loud pop sound everytime I opened the door. My vehicle has never been hit and the research I did made me realize I am not the only one with this issue. It is a safety concern and Ford should consider this as a recall.

Welds holding door check to inside of the front driver side door broke.

  7. Structure, Other or unspecified, Sep 6, 2023

The drivers door made a loud pop when opening and it is now difficult to close and to open. it scrapes and pops out of place along the hinge and on the inside of the door. at one time it was not shutting at all. Hopefully it will not do this again, but something is broken. I was travelling when this happened with a passenger in my car and if m y door would not have shut at all i was far away from home and it would have been a huge inconvenience! I took my car to the dealer i bought it from in my town and he took a video of the noise it makes and the difficulty shutting and opening. He then called me the next day after talking to the techs that they are aware of this happening to some of the Escapes and i will have to seek a private shop to get a new door as he says this is not covered under warranty. This is preposterous and i cannot believe there is not a recall on this issue after i have read about this issue online and it is happening often. There was no warning, just a pop and immediately problems getting the door open and closed.

  8. Forward collision avoidance, Sep 5, 2023

While travelling we got a message on our dasboard stating that the AWD had a fault and needed to be serviced. We called the dealership and they said it was okay to continue to drive the vehicle. However, we made the soonest appointment available with the dealership, thinking we were still under warranty. We received other warning messages: hill assist not working, pre-collision assist not working, auto hold not working, advance auto trac needs servicing, see manual, get system serviced. The cruise, or speed control also stopped working. We drove 1,100 miles with all of this going on trying to get back home. We went to have it checked out at tje dealer on 9/5/2023. We found out it is not under warranty. It cost us $195 for the computer to tell us it is the AWD module and, Ford wants another $800 to fix it. We found an article at Customer Satisfaction Program 21B19 – AWD Module Replacement – 2020-2021 Ford Bronco Sport, Escape, & Lincoln Corsair – Ford https://ford.oemdtc.com/7846/customer-satisfaction-program-21b19-awd-module-replacement-2020-2021-ford-bronco-sport-escape-lincoln-corsair. 10. Structure, Sep 4, 2023

On Sept.3, 2023 I went to my car and opened the driver's door, there was a creaking sound I never heard before, I thought someone had hit it in the parking lot but there was zero damage to the outside of the door. As I opened and closed it a few times, the sound got worse and after a few times, it hardly closed. When I went to shut it, I had to almost force it to close. This is a problem, and it came out of, nowhere. It is certainly a safety concern. On the morning of Sept. 4, 2023 I had my boyfriend look at it and he could see where the problem is, it's the hinge area on the driver's side towards the front of the door, where it attaches to the car.

Driver side door started to make a noise while using it. Shortly after the door was hard to close and open at the same time and a pop sound happened and door could not close at all due to door arm breaking loose inside of door. I had to take the door apart and try to get the arm out which was a battle but I managed. Door swings open and closed way too easy now. Driver side window now has scratches from going up and down. I am taking my car in for a recall repair on September 15, 2023 and at that time the dealership will be looking into what they can do for me regarding the door arm repair since this happend just outside of the 36,000 mile warranty. The Ford Escape 2020 is at this moment at 38,525.

Through normal use the drivers door spot welds have broken. Ford would cover $1500 of a $4000 fix. This is not my fault and I feel that they should cover the repair 100%

While driving on the highway my dash kept flashing all these different errors , my car kept changing the way it was driving . I got off went to ford dealer ! They said probably a sensor can’t look at it for 10 days and yes it is fine to drive . I did not think so ! I brought to my mechanic , replaced AWD module ! Which has been found to be an issue in this vehicle ! I felt unsafe . There have been recalls on this issue ! They say had do be built on a certain date ! Really , not if you keep searching ! It should be covered under drive train. Safety issue ! The lights going off are a distraction in itself .
