Equipment, electrical, engine block heaterJan 15, 2026
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Focus, 2013-2019 Escape, and 2015-2016 MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.
An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed March 6, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S01. Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchJun 8, 2020
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

Fuel system, gasoline, storageJul 5, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2012 and 2017 Focus vehicles equipped with 2.0L GDI gasoline engines and 2013-2014 Focus ST vehicles equipped with 2.0L GTDI engines, previously recalled under 18V-735. The affected vehicles did not have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) updated as intended. Therefore, the Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system.
The excessive vacuum may result in an engine stall while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module. Dealers will also check for fault codes and replace the CPV as needed. If the CPV is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. The recall began July 29, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S22.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2017 Ford Focus hatchback vehicles manufactured February 14, 2012, to August 26, 2016 and equipped with a manual transmission. The hatchback of the affected vehicles may be unlatched with a single press of the interior latch release button. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."
With only a single press needed, the driver may accidently unlatch the hatchback, increasing the risk of injury to any unsecured passengers in the back.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Body Control Module with updated software, free of charge. The recall began February 10, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16C13.

Exterior lightingAug 1, 2013
Ford is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Focus BEV vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, manufactured September 15, 2011, through May 6, 2013; and model year 2013 Focus ST vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, manufactured February 16, 2012, through May 7, 2013. Due to a wiring incompatability, the front side marker lamps may not function. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Without the proper illumination of the side maker lamps, the vehicle may be less visible in night time conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will modify the headlamp assembly wiring, free of charge. The recall began on August 16, 2013. Owners may contact the Ford customer relationship center at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's recall number is 13C04.

The left rear door child lock was built incorrectly. As a result, the child lock may not engage when the operator uses normal force to activate the child lock.
The operator may incorrectly believe the child lock is engaged. However, the door may be opened from the inside, increasing the risk of injury to an unrestrained child.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the affected rear door latches, and replace them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2013. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

EquipmentOct 2, 2012
This recall involves aftermarket parts sold by Yakima Products, Inc. for use on model year 2012 and 2013 Ford Focus vehicles. This recall is being conducted by Yakima, not by Ford. Certain combined Q-Tower and Q128 Clip rooftop rack systems, part numbers 8000124 and 8000728, do not fully contact the door frame.
Without proper contact of the rooftop rack clip to the door frame, there is insufficient clamping pressure and friction. The system may slide off the vehicle when loaded with accessories, possibly becoming a road hazard to other vehicles or causing injury to pedestrians.
Yakima will notify owners, and Yakima or a Yakima dealer will refund the purchase of the Q-Tower and Q-128 Clip system. There is no replacement system available for the 2012-2013 model year Ford Focus. The safety recall began on October 15, 2012. Only vehicles equipped with the vehicle rack system are affected. This recall is being conducted by Yakima, not Ford. Owners may contact Yakima at 1-888-925-4621.

Other or unspecified, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 11, 2018
AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK WITH GAS, THE VEHICLE STUTTERS AND FEELS LIKE IT'S JUMPING WHEN I AM AT A STOP LIGHT AND START TO GO. THE GAS GAUGE GOES UP WHILE I AM DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE RUNS OUT OF GAS RANDOMLY. I WAS PARKED AT MY HOUSE AND IT WOULDN'T CRANK WHEN I RAN OUT OF GAS THE 1ST TIME (ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO) AND THE 2ND TIME (6/6/2018), I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE VEHICLE DIED DUE TO NO GAS, YET THE GAUGE WAS NOT ON EMPTY. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT AT FORD SERVICE REPAIR SHOP AND I AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM BUT THE SERVICE REPAIRMAN SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, THAT HE HAD THE SAME VEHICLE IN THE WEEK BEFORE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. LAST FRIDAY, I HAD A CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WITH A FORD DEALERSHIP TELL ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT OCCURS IN THIS VEHICLE. OBVIOUSLY RUNNING OUT OF GAS RANDOMLY IS VERY DANGEROUS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS IMMEDIATELY TO SAVE LIVES. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

THE CAR IS STALLING AND HAS A ROUGH IDLE. WITHIN 2 WEEKS MY CAR STALLED AND THEN SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND WOULD NOT RESTART OR STAY ON ONCE I GOT IT PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS LUCKY THAT THERE WAS NO ONE DIRECTLY BEHIND ME ON THE ROAD OTHERWISE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A REALLY BAD DISASTER. GAS MILEAGE SAID I HAD OVER 100 MILES TO EMPTY. PAID TO GET IT TOWED TWICE AND WHEN TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC HE TURNED IT ON (AFTER 2 HOURS) AND THE CAR SHOWED EMPTY 0 MILES/FUEL. HE PUT A FEW DOLLARS IN GAS AND IT RAN JUST FINE. SINCE THEN I CANNOT TRUST THE FUEL READING OF MILEAGE. FORD DEALER SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL ON FUEL SYSTEM BUT THEY ARE HAPPY TO DO A DIAGNOSIS FOR OVER $100 AND THEN THEY CAN TELL ME WHATS WRONG WITH IT. NOT AN AFFORDABLE SOLUTION AT THIS TIME OTHER THAN TO PUT GAS IN IT AFTER I DRIVE EVERY 50 MILES. SOUTH BOSTON, VA

WE HAD HE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME. A CHECK OF THE CODE SHOWED A FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM PROBLEM. WE ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN TRYING TO FUEL THE VEHICLE WHEN PLACING THE FUEL NOZZLE INTO THE FUEL FILL A RUSH OF AIR WOULD ESCAPE. AFTER FUELING THE CAR WOULD NOT START. ONCE WE GET THE CAR STARTED IT WOULD RUN ROUGH FOR SEVERAL MILES. ALSO, THE FUEL GAUGE WAS WRONG. THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD SHOW 1/2 TANK BUT WE RAN OUT OF GAS. THE MECHANIC HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK, OUR MECHANIC HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK, PURGE VALVE AND ASSOCIATED HOSES, FUEL PUMP. ALSO, ANOTHER PROBLEM AROSE WITH THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. ALL OF THE GAUGES INCLUDING THE RADIO WENT BLANK AND WOULD NOT FUNCTION. THE MECHANIC HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND RESET THE COMPUTER FOR THE INSTRUMENTS AND RADIO TO BEGIN WORKING AGAIN.

VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY TURN OFF WHILE RUNNING. HAPPENED TOO MANY TIMES WHILE ON THE FREEWAY THAT ALMOST CAUSE ACCIDENTS, EVEN ON STREET FROM THE STOP LIGHTS IT WOULD JUST TURN OFF. ONE IS ISSUE IS THE FAULTY FUEL GAUGE, IT WOULD SAY THAT THE FUEL TANK IS FULL BUT HALFWAY EMPTY OR EMPTY. DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND OTHER OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE OF THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF WHILE RUNNING. ACCORDING TO SOME REPORTS, OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD TO REPLACED THE FUEL TANK THAT WAS DEFORMED DUE TO THE ISSUE OF FAULTY FUEL GAUGE. OTHER REPORTED OF REPLACING FUEL PUMP, PURGE VALVE AND OR EMISSION CANISTER. I CONTACTED FORD ABOUT THE ISSUE AND IT SEEMS LIKE IT'S SOMETHING THEY DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT BUT THEY KNOW THERE AN ISSUE. THEY WON'T GIVE ME A DIRECT ANSWER TO MY QUESTIONS. SO FAR, I HAVE NOT HEARD ANY REPORTS OF FATALITY ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT WE WERE CLOSE, AS RECENTLY AS YESTERDAY MORNING WHEN MY COUSIN WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH AN 18-WHEELER BEHIND HIM WHEN THE CAR'S ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF. THIS HAPPENS QUITE A FEW TIMES. WHAT'S WORST ABOUT THIS IS FORD WON'T EVEN TALK TO THE OWNERS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I TRIED TO GET SOME ANSWER FROM THEM BUT THEY WON'T SAY A WORD. IT'S FRUSTRATING! THE CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND UNDER 75K MILES, HAVING THIS ISSUE THAT WOULD COST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX. IT'S NOT THE OWNERS FAULT BUT MANUFACTURER'S FAULT OR ISSUE. THEY NEED TO OWN UP ON THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOME GETS KILLED ON THE FREEWAY. WHEN IS FORD GOING TO STEP ON THIS? HOW ABOUT NHTSA, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS? WE, THE OWNERS NEED ANSWER AND WE NEED SOLUTION FROM FORD ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE. WHILE NO ONE IS DEAD YET, NOW IS THE TIME TO ASSESS THIS PROBLEM. NHTSA, PLEASE HELP US FIX THIS PROBLEM.
Fuel/propulsion system, Oct 19, 2017
THE FUEL GAGE ON MY FORD FOCUS DOES NOT READ CORRECTLY. I'VE RAN OUT OF GAS MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN THE MILES TO E READ 40,72 AND EVEN 88. SINCE I'VE HAD THE CAR THE GAS LIGHT NEVER COMES ON BEFORE I RUN OUT OF GAS. I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A $90 FEE FOR THEM JUST TO ACCESS WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. I'VE SEEN MULTIPLE POSTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. IT DEFINITELY SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST. THIS PROBLEM ALONE HAS CAUSED ME TO CONSTANTLY USE ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE DUE TO RANDOMLY RUNNING OUT OF FUEL IN AREAS I WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH, WHICH COULD DEFINITELY BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I'M NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE AT NIGHT ALONE BECAUSE I'M NOT SURE IF I'LL MAKE IT TO MY DESTINATION WITHOUT RUNNING OUT OF GAS.

ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE'S PURGE SOLENOID FAILED AND CAUSED THE FUEL TANK TO COLLAPSE, WHICH INFORMED THE VEHICLE THAT THERE WAS NO FUEL. THE FAILURE THEN CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PURGE VALVE SOLENOID, FUEL TANK, AND FUEL PUMP NEEDED THE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000. *LN CONSUMER STATED FUEL GAUGE SHOWED 1/4 TO 1/8 IN TANK. FOCUS ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE RUNNING OR AT THE STOP LIGHT/SIGN, FUEL SAYS 50+ BEFORE EMPTY BUT IN ALREADY OUT OF GAS. FOCUS SOMETIMES WOULD NOT TURN ON WHEN IT SUDDENLY SHUTS OFF. ALSO WOULD EXPERIENCE LOSE OF POWER OR BAD ACCELERATION. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON DUE TO THIS ISSUE OF FUEL RAIL SENSOR SIGNAL. I CHECKED ONLINE FOR OTHER ISSUES REGARDING FORD FOCUS AND WHAT I FOUND WAS QUITE VERY INTERESTING. AND I ALSO CONTACTED FORD ABOUT THIS BUT THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME ANY ANSWER ABOUT THIS ISSUE. ONLY TOLD ME SORRY, I CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR FRUSTRATION, I CAN HELP YOU GET A ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. I TOLD HIM I AM LOOKING FOR A LONG TIME SOLUTION AND NOT ONE DAY SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEM. FORD KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM BUT WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT. THIS ISSUE IS A MANUFACTURER'S (FORD) ISSUE AND NOT BY CONSUMERS. ON WAY TO WORK,STREETS, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, TOOK TO FORD DEALERSHIP. CALLED ME BACK TOLD ME THE FUEL TANK, PURGE VALVE, CHARCOAL CANISTER,FUEL PUMP, AND NOZZLE FOR FUEL TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED. CALLED WARRANTY AND THEY STATED QUITE A FEW PEOPLE HAD SAME ISSUE WITH SAME MAKE AND MODEL/YEAR. THANKFUL HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT A WHOLE FUEL SYSTEM, THIS SEEMS LIKE A DEFECT, NOT THE NORM.

CAR WON'T START AFTER REFUELING.... TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CRANK BEFORE BARELY FIRING UP, RANDOM ROUGH IDLE AND RPMS WILL DROP AND THE CAR WILL STALL FOR NO REASON. ALL PROBLEMS WITH IDLE WILL COME AND GO, IT WILL RUN FINE FOR A BIT, THEN THE IDLE PROBLEM WILL COME BACK. THE PROBLEM CRANKING THE CA RAFTER PUTTING GAS IN IS EVERY TIME I GET GAS.
Power train, Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 6, 2017
I WAS DRIVING HOME GOING ABOUT 65 MPG IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR LOST PROPULSION, STARTED DECELERATING. I PULLED OF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS FAST AS POSSIBLE AND THE CAR WOULDN'T CHANGE GEARS, AND STALLED (LIKE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T DEPRESS THE CLUTCH). THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE FIRST TIME THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TCM CLAIMING THAT WAS THE CAUSE. THIS TIME THEY ARE CLAIMING THE FUEL PUMP IS THE CAUSE, THOUGH I AM SKEPTICAL.
Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 3, 2017
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH NO OTHER SYMPTOMS, DEALER REPLACED PURGE VALVE. ONE YEAR LATER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, BUT OCCASIONALLY TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN (EVERY FEW DAYS) BETWEEN APPOINTMENTS WITH DEALER. PURGE VALVE REPLACED AGAIN AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS LEAVING DEALER CODE 0420. RETURNED TO DEALER AND PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED FINALLY AS PARTIALLY COLLAPSED FUEL TANK (DIFFICULT TO SEE UNLESS CAR WAS ON A LIFT.) DEALER RECOMMENDS REPLACING FUEL TANK, FUEL PUMP, EVAP CAN AND OTHER ASSOCIATED PARTS. BESIDES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THE ONLY SYMPTOM IS OCCASIONAL LACK OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATING. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THIS SYMPTOM IS SOMEWHAT SIMILAR TO THE "SHUDDER" PROBLEM FIXED BY REPLACING THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. SO, HAVING RECENTLY DONE THAT CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT THIS FELT LIKE A SHADOW OF THE FORMER PROBLEM AND I IGNORED THE ISSUE UNTIL I GOT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. I CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY TO SEE IF THEY WOULD REIMBURSE FOR THE EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL AND I AM PAST THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY SO THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST...THEY WERE VERY POLITE, BUT UNWILLING TO PAY. ADDITIONAL NOTE ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT: THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, WHEN IT CAME ON, WOULD USUALLY STAY ON FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN EITHER LATE AT NIGHT OR EARLY IN THE MORNING I WOULD FIND THAT IT WAS OFF. AND IT WOULD STAY OFF FOR A FEW DAYS AT A TIME AS WELL. MY ASSUMPTION WAS THAT IT WAS SOMEHOW RELATED TO THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE OF MY VEHICLE (WHICH IS BLACK) BECAUSE THE LIGHT WAS MORE LIKELY TO BE OFF WHEN IT WAS COOL AND DARK OR OVERCAST. I AM LISTING THE DATE AS JUNE 2017 BUT THE PROBLEM, AT LEAST AS REGARDS THE PURGE VALVE, BEGAN A YEAR EARLIER. BUT THE INTERMITTENT CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AND SECOND PURGE VALVE REPLACEMENT AND CURRENT FUEL TANK COLLAPSE BEGAN IN JUNE 2017

AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN JUNE 2013, THE CAR WOULD STALL/JERK/GRIND WHEN TRYING TO TAKE OFF AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, OR JUST ACCELERATING TO INCREASE SPEED. HAD TO TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE CLUTCH REPAIRED AND EVEN AFTER THIS WAS PERFORMED, IT STILL JERKS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON. IN JANUARY 2016, HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO REPROGRAM THE PCM/TCM AND PERFORM CLUTCH WHICH WAS THE 15B22 SOFTWARE UPDATE ISSUED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. AFTER 36,000 MILES THE HORN STOPPED WORKING. AFTER 65,000 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER, WAS TOLD IT HAD A CODE P0456 WHICH IS A SMALL EVAP LEAK PRESENT. SINCE IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY, I HAVE TO PAY $119 JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. NOW I HAVE A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 16S30 WHICH STATES IT MAY BE POSSIBLE THAT MY SIDE DOOR LATCH MAY BREAK, WHICH MAY MAKE THE DOOR DIFFICULT TO LATCH. ALL THIS ON A VEHICLE THAT IS UNDER 100,000 MILES AND ALMOST 4 YEARS OLD.
Fuel/propulsion system, May 1, 2017
ENGINE STOPS AT DRIVING SPEED, RENDERING THE STEERING VERY DIFFICULT. THE DEALER MECHANIC SAID THE FUEL TANK COLLAPSED AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR . SOMEHOW THIS IS NOT DEEMED BY FORD A SAFETY ISSUE.

MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS STALLING A BIT AND/OR LOSING POWER. THE VERY NEXT DAY, I FILLED UP MY CAR W/ 11 OR 12 GALLONS OF GAS THEN MY ENGINE IMMEDIATELY HAD TROUBLE STARTING. I KNEW MY BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR 3+ YEARS AND HAVE YET TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. IT TOOK 4 TRIES FOR MY ENGINE TO START THEN I DROVE TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE THAT WAS CONVENIENTLY ACROSS THE STREET AND THEY PERFORMED A BATTERY TEST. IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT MY BATTERY WAS LOW. THE STORE EMPLOYEE ALSO DID AN ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSTIC AND THE CODE P-1450 APPEARED, A PURGE VALVE MALFUNCTION. I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO REPLACE MY BATTERY AT THE MOMENT AS I HAD CLASS TO ATTEND TO. AFTER CLASS, I DROVE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, RIATA FORD IN MANOR, TX, AND INFORMED THEM OF MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON. THE SERVICE ADVISER PLUGGED IN THE COMPUTER CODE READER AND READ THE SAME P-1450 CODE AND DECIDED TO "CLEAR IT". HE ASKED ME IF I HAD RECENTLY FILLED UP THE CAR W/ GAS AND I SAID YES, JUST A FEW HOURS AGO. HE TOLD ME THE CODE HAS BEEN 'CLEARED" AND TO COME BACK IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES BACK ON. I THEN WENT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND PURCHASED AND INSTALLED A BRAND NEW BATTERY. THE CAR STILL DIDN'T SEEM TO DRIVE AT ITS 100% CAPABILITY AND SOMETIMES ALMOST STALLING OUT. A DAY OR TWO LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES BACK ON AGAIN AND I RETURN TO RIATA FORD. THEY PERFORM A FULL DIAGNOSTIC AND INFORM ME THAT THE PURGE VALVE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, CAUSING MY FUEL TANK TO COLLAPSE W/ FUEL PUMP DAMAGE. I WAS QUOTED A $2,000 REPAIR COST. I KNOW THAT FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL ON THE SAME EXACT PART FOR THEIR FUSION MODELS AS WELL AS MERCURY MILANS. THERE IS ALSO A FLORIDA CLASS ACT LAWSUIT IN PROGRESS FOR THE SAME EXACT CAR PROBLEM. PLEASE ADVISE WHAT OPTIONS I MAY HAVE. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR TIME.

THE VEHICLE'S CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE IT STUTTERS/HESITATES, MAKES GRINDING NOISES, ETC. AND STILL DOES SINCE SECOND REPAIR, RADIO MADE POPPING, STATIC SKRECKING SOUNDS THAT GOT WORSE OVER TIME TO THE POINT OF HAPPENING ALL THE TIME AND MADE RADIO USELESS, PURGE VALVE FAILED AND COULD HAVE DESTROYED GAS TANK AND FUEL PUMP IF NOT DEALT WITH WHICH THANKFULLY I DID. THESE ARE ALL KNOWN ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE.

I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP DUE TO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON. THEY REPLACED MY CLUTCH UNDER THE WARRANTY BUT SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE PURGE VALVE WHICH IS CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL AND HAVE A ROUGH IDLE. FORD IS STATING THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER DOING RESEARCH IT APPEARS THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS PART. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART IN 2015 AND APPEARS THERE WAS OR IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THIS PROBLEM. YESTERDAY MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR STALLED AND SHUT DOWN. THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES AND GAS PEDALS WOULD NOT WORK. THEN THE CAR WOULD NOT START BACK UP. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY SINCE THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE AS WELL AS A RECALL WAS DONE FOR THE SAME THING 2 YEARS AGO. FORD DOESNT SEEM TO BE WILLING TO HELP OTHER THEN CHARGE ME $2,000 TO FIX THEIR PROBLEM.
