  2. Equipment, electrical, engine block heaterJan 15, 2026

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Focus, 2013-2019 Escape, and 2015-2016 MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.

An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.

Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed March 6, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S01. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on January 16, 2026.

  3. Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchJun 8, 2020

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

  4. Fuel system, gasoline, storageJul 5, 2019

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2012 and 2017 Focus vehicles equipped with 2.0L GDI gasoline engines and 2013-2014 Focus ST vehicles equipped with 2.0L GTDI engines, previously recalled under 18V-735. The affected vehicles did not have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) updated as intended. Therefore, the Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system.

The excessive vacuum may result in an engine stall while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module. Dealers will also check for fault codes and replace the CPV as needed. If the CPV is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. The recall began July 29, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S22.

  6. Latches/locks/linkages, hatchback/liftgate, lockSep 28, 2016

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2017 Ford Focus hatchback vehicles manufactured February 14, 2012, to August 26, 2016 and equipped with a manual transmission. The hatchback of the affected vehicles may be unlatched with a single press of the interior latch release button. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."

With only a single press needed, the driver may accidently unlatch the hatchback, increasing the risk of injury to any unsecured passengers in the back.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Body Control Module with updated software, free of charge. The recall began February 10, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16C13.

A component within the door latches may break, preventing the doors from latching and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the door latches with an improved part, free of charge. The recall began on January 27, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S30.

  10. Exterior lightingAug 1, 2013

Ford is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Focus BEV vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, manufactured September 15, 2011, through May 6, 2013; and model year 2013 Focus ST vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, manufactured February 16, 2012, through May 7, 2013. Due to a wiring incompatability, the front side marker lamps may not function. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Without the proper illumination of the side maker lamps, the vehicle may be less visible in night time conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will modify the headlamp assembly wiring, free of charge. The recall began on August 16, 2013. Owners may contact the Ford customer relationship center at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's recall number is 13C04.

  11. Latches/locks/linkagesMar 7, 2013

Ford is recalling certain model year 2013 Focus and C-Max vehicles built from November 16, 2012, through November 21, 2012; and model year 2013 Escape vehicles manufactured from November 14, 2012, through November 21, 2012. The left rear door child lock was built incorrectly. As a result, the child lock may not engage when the operator uses normal force to activate the child lock.

The operator may incorrectly believe the child lock is engaged. However, the door may be opened from the inside, increasing the risk of injury to an unrestrained child.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the affected rear door latches, and replace them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2013. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

  12. EquipmentOct 2, 2012

This recall involves aftermarket parts sold by Yakima Products, Inc. for use on model year 2012 and 2013 Ford Focus vehicles. This recall is being conducted by Yakima, not by Ford. Certain combined Q-Tower and Q128 Clip rooftop rack systems, part numbers 8000124 and 8000728, do not fully contact the door frame.

Without proper contact of the rooftop rack clip to the door frame, there is insufficient clamping pressure and friction. The system may slide off the vehicle when loaded with accessories, possibly becoming a road hazard to other vehicles or causing injury to pedestrians.

Yakima will notify owners, and Yakima or a Yakima dealer will refund the purchase of the Q-Tower and Q-128 Clip system. There is no replacement system available for the 2012-2013 model year Ford Focus. The safety recall began on October 15, 2012. Only vehicles equipped with the vehicle rack system are affected. This recall is being conducted by Yakima, not Ford. Owners may contact Yakima at 1-888-925-4621.

Representative owner complaints: power train

  1. Power train, Feb 25, 2015

THE 2013 FORD FOCUS HAS AN ONGOING SAFETY CONCERN REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, AS THERE IS A PLETHORA OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE. THE TRANSMISSION JERKS/SHUTTERS/JUMPS/VIBRATES ETC. WHEN SHIFTING, MOSTLY BETWEEN NEUTRAL AND GEARS 1 THROUGH 3. THIS IS MOST PREVALENT WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP, OR ANY LOW SPEED/COASTING SITUATIONS. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN WHICH FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS. I COMMUTE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC EVERY DAY, AND I NEVER KNOW WHEN THE CARD IS JUST GOING TO SUDDENLY JERK FORWARD, QUICKLY ACCELERATE, OR NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. THIS COULD EASILY LEAD TO CAUSING ACCIDENTS, OR NOT BEING ABLE TO AVOID ACCIDENTS, AS I FEEL LIKE I HAVE LITTLE TO NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR AT LOW SPEEDS. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN I HAVE EVERY SINGLE DAY I DRIVE THE CAR - IT'S NOT A ONCE-IN-A-WHILE INCIDENT, IT'S ALL THE TIME. FORD SHOULD REALLY FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE PEOPLE HAVE CATASTROPHIC FAILURES (IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY) FROM THIS TRANSMISSION FAILING, CAUSING SERIOUS PERSONAL AND PROPERTY DAMAGE, ACCIDENTS, AND POSSIBLE DEATH. *JS

  2. Power train, Feb 19, 2015

THIS VEHICLE IS HORRIBLE. BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW IN APRIL OF 2013 AND BEFORE THE YEAR WAS UP IT WAS IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES (BEEN IN THERE 2 MORE TIMES SINCE THEN) FOR TRANSMISSION GRINDING, SHAKING, STUTTERING, BOGGING DOWN AND STALLING. FORD TRIES TO SAY THIS IS "NORMAL" FOR THIS DUAL SYSTEM TRANSMISSION. THERE IS NOT ANYTHING "NORMAL" ABOUT ALMOST GETTING RUN OVER ON A DAILY BASIS BECAUSE THE LOWER GEAR SHIFTING IS FAULTY. I GUESS FORD IS WAITING ON SOMEONE TO DIE BEFORE RECALLING THIS PIECE OF JUNK. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A BRAND NEW CAR THIS WAY AND DEAL WITH THE CONSTANT FRUSTRATION AND EMBARRASSMENT THIS CAR IS CASING ME, NOT TO MENTION THE MONEY FORD GETS EVERY MONTH FROM ME. I CAN'T BELIEVE I AM PAYING THEM TO DRIVE THIS LEMON. THEY NEED TO OWN UP TO THIS BAD PERFORMING CAR AND RECALL IT NOW. *TR

  3. Power train, Feb 16, 2015

TRANSMISSION IS CAUSING CAR TO HESITATE WHEN GIVING IT GAS WITCH MAKING IT PRETTY SCARING TURNING AT OPEN INTERSECTIONS AND JUST DRIVING IT STARTS VIBRATIONS BAD ALSO ITS LIKE IT PUTS ON BRAKES BE DRIVING AND CAR SLOW DOWN AS IF LIKE SOME ONE WAS GEARING DOWN DOES ALL ON ITS ON!! NEEDS FIXING THE PROPER WAY BE FOR SOME ONE IT'S HURT OR KILLED!!! *TR

  4. Power train, Electrical system, Feb 15, 2015

HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO FAIRVIEW FORD SAN BERNARDINO. WERE I BOUT THE CAR. WITH TRANS PROBLEM UNDER EXTRACARE WARRANTY AND THEY CANNOT FIX IT. ITS BEEN 3 TIMES THAT I'VE TAKEN IT FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. NOW A NEW PROBLEM WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING WITH THE DASH AND RADIO TURNING ON BUT THE ENGINE. I DON'T KNOW WHY THESE PROBLEMS HAVE NOT BECAME A RECALL ISSUE. CANT TAKE IT TO ANY OTHER FORD DEALER BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE EXTRACARE WARRANTY. AND CHARGE ME A ARM N A LEG JUST TO CHECK IT AND KNOWING WHAT'S WRONG. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY ANOTHER FORD. *TR

  5. Power train, Feb 15, 2015

I OWN A 2013 FORD FOCUS.WHEN STOPPED, THE VEHICLE ROLLS BACK WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. WHEN ACCELERATING, VEHICLE SHUTTERS VIOLENTLY WHILE SHIFTING. I HAD THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED AT THE FORD DEALER IT WAS PURCHASED FROM ON 2/7/13. THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE SAME PROBLEM THEN RETURNED ABOUT 7 MONTHS LATER, I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE FORD DEALER FOR YET ANOTHER REPAIR ON 9/6/13. THEY REPROGRAMMED THE BCM. THE SAME PROBLEM RETURNED 4 MONTHS LATER. THEN I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR CO. WITH A TRANSMISSION WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR 7 YEARS AS OPPOSED TO THE ORIGINAL 5 YEAR WARRANTY.I CALLED THE SERVICE PERSON AT THE FORD DEALER TO INFORM THEM THE SAME PROBLEM HAS RETURNED. THE SERVICE PERSON SAID THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAD NO REPAIR OPTIONS AT THIS TIME AND NOT TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR. AT THIS POINT THE PROBLEM WITH CLUTCH SHUDDER IS CONSTANT, AND ROLLS BACK ALMOST ALL THE TIME. I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND MANY FORD FOCUS OWNERS WITH SAME ISSUES. I FEEL THE VEHICLE IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE. IT IS BECOMING EVIDENT THAT FORD MOTOR CO. IS NOT DOING ENOUGH OR ANYTHING TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. ANY HELP YOUR ADMINISTRATION CAN GIVE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU. *TR

  6. Power train, Engine, Feb 13, 2015

THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN DEEMED A "LEMON" PURSUANT TO COLORADO BBB AUTO COMPLAINT. THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO SHUDDER, LAG, OR INTERMITTENTLY LURCH FORWARD. IT IS A HAZARD TO DRIVE. *TR

  7. Power train, Feb 6, 2015

BEGINNING IN MARCH 2013, ONLY 4 MONTHS AFTER ITS PURCHASE, I NOTICED MY CAR HESITATED TO ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY. I BROUGHT IT INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD A BAD TANK OF GAS. THE ISSUE APPEARED TO HAVE GONE AWAY AFTER A WHILE, BUT RETURNED IN 2014. IN 2014, I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO FORD ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS FOR THE HESITATION, SHUTTER, AND ASSOCIATED NOISES. I FEEL AS IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE MY CAR IS UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO THE PROPER GEAR WHEN I AM TRYING TO ACCELERATE ONTO A CROWDED HIGHWAY OR THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. FORD HAS RECALIBRATED THE COMPUTER FOR THE TRANSMISSION MULTIPLE TIMES, AND EVEN THOUGH THE SERVICE RECEIPT SAYS THAT THE SHUTTER IS STILL PRESENT AFTER THEY FIX IT, IT IS OKAY BY FORD'S STANDARDS, SO THEY ALLOW ME TO LEAVE THE SHOP. THE SHUTTER APPEARS TO IMPROVE FOR THE MOST PART AFTER TAKING IT TO FORD, ONLY TO RETURN IN A MATTER OF TWO OR THREE WEEKS. THE RECALIBRATION SERVICE FORD IS OFFERING IS NOT AN APPROPRIATE LONG-TERM SAFETY FIX, AND THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH A TRUE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. *JS

  8. Power train, Engine, Jan 31, 2015

ANYTIME WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE YOU WILL EXPERIENCE GRINDING,SHUTTERING AND HESITATION USUALLY AT LOWER TRAFFIC SPEEDS , WHICH IS SOMETIMES UNSAFE WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF THE HESITATION. *TR

  9. Power train, Electronic stability control (ESC), Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 31, 2015

MY CAR SHUTTERS AND HESITATES WHEN PULLING OFF, RPMS REV UP AND GAS MI IS NOT AS ADVERTISED. IT ALSO MAKES NOISES THAT I THOUGHT WERE THE DOOR LOCKS CLICKING WHEN CAR IS OFF, LATER TO BE TOLD ITS THE TRANSMISSION IS RE-SETTING? BESIDES THAT I HAVE HAD 3 FLAT TIRES ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE CAR, FROM RIVET LOOKING THINGS THAT I THINK ARE FALLING OUT OF THE WHEEL WELL (AT LEAST 1 DID!) THIS IS MY 1ST NEW CAR AND I'VE TAKEN CARE OF IT! IN FACT I GOT IT EARLY 2013, AND AS OF NOW IT ONLY HAS 15,600 MILES ON IT! THE LAST OIL CHANGE WAS DUE AT 16,000MILES AND I HAD THAT DONE @ NOVEMBER BECAUSE THAT DATE WAS RECOMMENDED. EVERYTIME I HAVE MENTIONED THIS TO FORD THEY BLOW ME OFF AND SAY THERE IS NO RECALL, WELL BS I WANT, AND DESERVE WHAT I PAID FOR, A NEW CAR, NOT A BIG HEADACHE! *TR

  10. Power train, Structure, Jan 29, 2015, crash

I WAS ENTERING A CAR PORT THAT HAS A SLIGHT 2 DEGREE DOWNWARD SLOPE TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR PORT. THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SEEMED TO ACCELERATE SLIGHTLY WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE AND GO THROUGH THE CAR PORT FRONT OVERHANG. THE CURRENT DRIVING CONDITIONS ADEQUATE (THE WEATHER -VERY COLD, SNOWING BUT CARPORT WAS CLEAR UNDERNEATH) BEFORE AND SINCE THE REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO HESITATE TO ENGAGE MOMENTARILY ON DECELERATION AND ACCELERATION OPERATIONS. *TR

  11. Power train, Jan 28, 2015

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY JERKED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING WHEN DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH ON THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

  12. Power train, Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 28, 2015

EVERY RECALL EVENT FOR MY 2013 FORD FOCUS, I HAVE ENCOUNTERED. AFTER A YEAR AND HALF OF CONTINUED TRIPS TO AND BEING WITHOUT MY CAR FOR SERVICE. THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES STILL NOT RESOLVED ALONG WITH THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE STEREO DISPLAY GOES BLANK, AT TIMES SHOWS INCORRECT DATE AND CLOCK JUMPS TO DIFFERENT HOURS. THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD WHEN YOU GET TO ABOUT 25 TO 30 MPH OR HESITATES WHEN YOU EXCEL. WHEN YOU PUT IN PARK IT WILL LUNGE FORWARD OR ACT LIKE YOU'VE POPPED THE CLUTCH EVEN WHEN BRAKE IS ON. IT SHUDDERS, HAS BUMP & BANG NOISES, LUNGES, SUSPENSION NOISES. I CAN FEEL BUMPING/THUMPING UNDER MY FEET WHEN TURNING CORNERS. HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE GAS TANK ASSEMBLY AND FUEL SYSTEM GAUGE (THIS PART HAS BEEN FIXED) CONTINUED ISSUES WITH THE DIGITAL PANEL, INTERMITTENT ERRATIC CLUSTER RADIO, CLOCK AND SYNC ISSUES THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CANNOT DUPLICATE. WHEN I HAVE ISSUES WITH THE DIGITAL PANEL, I TAKE A PICTURE. ONCE I TURN VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON IT SOMETIMES CLEARS IT UP. I'VE COMPLAINED ABOUT TIRES NOISES AND RIDE, THEY SAY TIRES ARE FINE. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO JUST TRADE IT IN AND THE DEALER SUGGESTED I CONTACT FORD MOTOR TO HAVE THEM BUY IT BACK. I HAVE PLACED A COMPLAINT ON THE FORD WEBSITE, BUT HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A RESPONSE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE BUT HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE. DO I HAVE TO RUIN MY CREDIT BY JUST DROPPING MY VEHICLE OFF AND WALKING AWAY FOR THEM TO TAKE BACK. FORD MOTOR COMPANY DOES NOT MAKE IT EASY TO TALK TO SOMEONE REGARDING MY VEHICLE. THEY SHOULD BE MORE ACCESSIBLE NOW BEFORE SOMETHING TRAGIC HAPPENS. *TR

  13. Power train, Jan 26, 2015

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AND MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN REBUILT AND SEALED THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,815.

  14. Power train, Jan 25, 2015

WE HAVE A 2013 FORD FOCUS AND WHILE WE LOVE THE CAR, THERE IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WE HAVE BEEN BACK AND FORTH WITH MULTIPLE FORD DEALERSHIPS (4 RENTAL CARS) TRYING TO RESOLVE WHY OUR CAR HAS BEEN STUTTERING AND JERKING IN LOW GEAR. WE HAVE YET TO HAVE ANY ANSWERS WITH THE PROBLEM. THE CAR IS UNDER FULL WARRANTY PLUS FORD'S PREMIUM WARRANTY THAT COVERS AN EXTRA 500 COMPONENTS OF THE CAR. FORD HAS VERIFIED THE STUTTERING PROBLEM YET REFUSES TO FIX IT BECAUSE THE STUTTERING DOES NOT MEET "THEIR STANDARDS". APPARENTLY OUR CAR IS STUTTERING AT 170 RPM AND IT NEEDS TO BE AT LEAST 250 RPM IN ORDER FOR THEM TO FIX IT. WHAT?! I ASSUME THEY CAN NOT PUT A NEW TRANSMISSION IN BECAUSE ALL OF THEIR TRANSMISSIONS DO THE SAME THING! WE WENT IN TO TRY AND SPEAK TO SOMEONE HIGHER UP ON THE ORGANIZATIONAL CHART. WE WERE GIVEN A SALESMAN (GO FIGURE) WHO WAS TRYING TO SELL US A FORD FUSION FOR DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF MONEY WE ARE PAYING NOW! WE HAVE NO WHERE LEFT TO TURN FOR HELP. PLEASE HELP US AND EVERYONE THAT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. IM AFRAID OF MY FIANC ENDING UP IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR STUTTERS TOO MUCH AND WILL NOT GET ACROSS THE ROAD. *TR

  15. Power train, Jan 24, 2015

THE SHIFTING ON THIS 2013 FOCUS HAS HAD THE USUAL JERKING, SHUDDERING, SUDDEN BURSTS WHEN ACCELERATING THROUGHOUT THE TWO YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. IN NOVEMBER 2013 WHEN ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY, I WAS UNABLE TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC UNTIL I LET UP ON THE GAS AND TRIED AGAIN STEPPING ON THE GAS. IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN CHANGING LANES WHEN IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. TOOK IT IN AND A NEW CLUTCH WAS INSTALLED. IT HAS BEEN IN TO RE-PROGRAM SINCE THEN AND IN BETWEEN RE-PROGRAMMING HAVE PUT UP WITH THE ISSUES BECAUSE YOU ARE TIRED OF WASTING TIME AT THE DEALER GETTING THE SAME RE-PROGRAMMING DONE ONLY TO HAVE IT DONE AGAIN. JANUARY 22, 2014 UPON TURNING THE CORNER LOST CAPABILITY OF BEING ABLE TO SPEED UP BEYOND 12 MILES PER HOUR. CAR CURRENTLY IN SHOP AND DEALER HAS SAID CLUTCHES WERE BAD AND WAITING FOR PARTS TO REPAIR. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS OF SOMETHING WRONG ON THE DASHBOARD. LUCKILY, I WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND THIS OCCURRED AT A REASONABLE HOUR TO GET IT INTO THE DEALER. I HAVE CALLED FORD THREE TIMES WITHOUT A RESOLUTION. I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE SINCE I DO NOT KNOW WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. IT IS ALSO GOING TO COST ME TO TRADE THIS VEHICLE IN TO ANOTHER COMPANY SINCE THEY ALL KNOW OF THE FOCUS PROBLEMS. I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER FORD. FORD HAS SAID THAT THE ENGINEERS ARE WORKING ON THIS BUT I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR TWO YEARS AND CONTINUE TO SUFFER. *TR

  16. Power train, Jan 23, 2015

THE CARS TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS AT ALL DIFFERENT SPEEDS, I FEEL UNSAFE AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS ATTEMPTED REPAIRS THAT EITHER WORK FOR A SHORT PERIOD OR NONE AT ALL. *TR

  17. Power train, Jan 22, 2015

EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY TO HAVE ONE SINCE THE TRANSMISSION "SLIP" AND THEN CAR LOOSES POWER, SO THE DRIVER WILL ACCELERATE AND SUDDENLY THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES AGAIN AND YOUR CAR WILL MAKE A SUDDEN MOVEMENT. THIS CARS ARE EQUIPPED WITH A NOISY TRANSMISSION AND NOW SLIPS. I WISH I CAN RETURN MY CAR. MY FIRST CARS DID NOT REQUIRED ANY MAJOR MAINTENANCE OTHER THAN OIL, OIL FILTER, SPARK PLUGS (WHEN REMEMBERED) BUT NOW CARS REQUIRE ALL TYPES OF 'MAINTENANCE'. *TR

  18. Power train, Jan 17, 2015

EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE IN THE CITY AND TAKE OFF THE TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS AND SKIPS. IT SOUNDS LIKE A DUMP TRUCK TAKING OFF. IT FEELS VERY UNSAFE AND LIKES TO DO THINGS ON ITS OWN. A CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE TYPES OF ISSUES AT THAT LOW OF MILES. I HAVE TO MUCH MONEY IN THIS CAR FOR FORD TO SALE A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. *TR

  19. Power train, Electrical system, Jan 16, 2015

HAD TO BUY TWO NEW FRONT TIRES DUE TO WEAR AT ONLY 24,000. TIRE PERSON SAYS THEY WERE JUST DISCUSSING THIS RASH OF 2013 FORD FOCUS OWNERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE SHAKES, AND VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY UPON ACCELERATION. TAKING OFF SLOWLY IS THE MOST NOTICEABLE. I FIND THAT IF I PUNCH THE ACCELERATOR AT TAKE OFF IT IS MORE POSITIVE WITHOUT TOO MUCH SHAKING AND VIBRATING. NOW IT JUMPS, SHAKES AND VIBRATES INTO GEAR TO CATCH UP. MAKES LOUD RATTLING NOISES WHEN TURNING AND ACCELERATION. BY THE SOUND OF THIS CAR YOU WOULD NEVER GUESS IT WAS A FAIRLY NEW CAR. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED. ALSO HAVING SOME TYPE OF ELECTRICAL/COMPUTER PROBLEM. IF I USE THE AUTO SENSOR LIGHTS THE COMPUTER SCREEN WILL DISPLAY A LARGE INFORMATION ICON AND THE CARS WARNING CHIME IS GOING CONTINUALLY. WILL NOT USE AUTO SENSOR LIGHTS ANYMORE. TOO SCARY. THIS IS ALL HAPPENING WHILE I'M DRIVING. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED I FREAKED TO DEATH WHILE DRIVING AND TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY CAR AND THIS WARNING CHIME GOING OFF. I EVEN THOUGHT MAYBE ONE OF MY CAR DOORS WAS AJAR AND MY CHILD IS IN THE BACK. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS MORNING JANUARY 16. I GO OUT TO UNLOCK MY CAR AND NOTHING, THE CAR WILL NOT UNLOCK. NO FLASH OF LIGHTS. SO I TRY IT SEVERAL MORE TIMES AND FINALLY MY DRIVER DOOR UNLOCKS. I'M THINKING REMOTE BATTERY. I STILL CAN'T UNLOCK OTHER DOORS NOT EVEN FROM THE INSIDE.
