Equipment, electrical, engine block heaterJan 15, 2026
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Focus, 2013-2019 Escape, and 2015-2016 MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.
An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed March 6, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S01. Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchJun 8, 2020
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

Fuel system, gasoline, storageJul 5, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2012 and 2017 Focus vehicles equipped with 2.0L GDI gasoline engines and 2013-2014 Focus ST vehicles equipped with 2.0L GTDI engines, previously recalled under 18V-735. The affected vehicles did not have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) updated as intended. Therefore, the Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system.
The excessive vacuum may result in an engine stall while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module. Dealers will also check for fault codes and replace the CPV as needed. If the CPV is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. The recall began July 29, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S22.

The excessive vaccuum may result in an engine stall while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module. Dealers will also check for fault codes and replace the CPV as needed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."
With only a single press needed, the driver may accidently unlatch the hatchback, increasing the risk of injury to any unsecured passengers in the back.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Body Control Module with updated software, free of charge. The recall began February 10, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16C13.

Insufficient compression in the engine wiring harness splices to the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor may provide incorrect signals to the powertrain control module (PCM).
The incorrect signals could cause the vehicle to hesitate or the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the current crimped splices with new splices, free of charge. The recall began on January 7, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14S17-S1.

Exterior lightingAug 1, 2013
Ford is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Focus BEV vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, manufactured September 15, 2011, through May 6, 2013; and model year 2013 Focus ST vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, manufactured February 16, 2012, through May 7, 2013. Due to a wiring incompatability, the front side marker lamps may not function. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Without the proper illumination of the side maker lamps, the vehicle may be less visible in night time conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will modify the headlamp assembly wiring, free of charge. The recall began on August 16, 2013. Owners may contact the Ford customer relationship center at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's recall number is 13C04.

The left rear door child lock was built incorrectly. As a result, the child lock may not engage when the operator uses normal force to activate the child lock.
The operator may incorrectly believe the child lock is engaged. However, the door may be opened from the inside, increasing the risk of injury to an unrestrained child.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the affected rear door latches, and replace them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2013. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

EquipmentOct 2, 2012
This recall involves aftermarket parts sold by Yakima Products, Inc. for use on model year 2012 and 2013 Ford Focus vehicles. This recall is being conducted by Yakima, not by Ford. Certain combined Q-Tower and Q128 Clip rooftop rack systems, part numbers 8000124 and 8000728, do not fully contact the door frame.
Without proper contact of the rooftop rack clip to the door frame, there is insufficient clamping pressure and friction. The system may slide off the vehicle when loaded with accessories, possibly becoming a road hazard to other vehicles or causing injury to pedestrians.
Yakima will notify owners, and Yakima or a Yakima dealer will refund the purchase of the Q-Tower and Q-128 Clip system. There is no replacement system available for the 2012-2013 model year Ford Focus. The safety recall began on October 15, 2012. Only vehicles equipped with the vehicle rack system are affected. This recall is being conducted by Yakima, not Ford. Owners may contact Yakima at 1-888-925-4621.

I CALLED WASHINGTON FORD IN WASHINGTON, PA ON 1/17/2019 REGARDING A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DUE TO FORD FOCUS RECALL (PURGE VALVE). THEY SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR 1/30/2019 TO FIX THE RECALL. TOOK MY CAR IN ON THE EVE OF 1/29/2019 AND DROPPED IT OFF. THEY CALLED ME THE FOLLOWING DAY TO SAY THEY DIDNT HAVE THE PART AVAILABLE. THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO PICK UP MY CAR AND SAID THEY WOULD CALL WHEN PART CAME IN. I HAD AN INSPECTION SCHEDULED FOR 2/7/2019 AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COME IN PRIOR TO MY INSPECTION. I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM BUT CALLED BACK A FEW TIMES, TELLING THEM I HAD NEW CODES COMING UP ON MY OBD SENSOR (FIXD) THE CAR HAD BEEN RUNNING ROUGH, STALLING OUT WHILE IDLING/STOPPED.. THEY ASSURED ME IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THEY DID NOT GET PART IN BY 2/7/2019 AND I MISSED MY INSPECTION. TWO NEW CODES CAME UP ON MY CAR AND I CALLED ANGRILY ON 2/14/2019 TO ASK IF THEY NEED ME TO TAKE CAR TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION, AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE JUST ABOUT TO CALL ME TO TELL ME PARTS CAME IN.. WE SCHEDULED FOR 2/22/2019 TO HAVE RECALL FIXED. THEY TOLD ME RENTAL CARS AREN'T COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL WHEN I EXPLAINED THE PROBLEMS WITH SCHEDULING SO MANY APPOINTMENTS AND HAVING DIFFICULTY FINDING OTHER TRANSPORTATION. ON 2/17/2019 MY CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, ON A MAJOR ROAD (ROUTE 40). I WAS ABLE TO COAST DOWN A SIDE STREET AND PULL INTO DRIVEWAY AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL. HAD THE DEALERSHIP FIXED THE PROBLEM THE DAY THEY ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED ME, I WOULD HAVE A WORKING CAR. NOW, I'M AFRAID MORE DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE, AS THERE ARE 7 TOTAL CODES ON MY OBD SENSOR(THERE WERE 3 WHEN I FIRST CALLED ABOUT RECALL). THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE NEVER SCHEDULED ME WHEN THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE RIGHT PART IN STOCK, OR A RENTAL CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN PROVIDED UNTIL THEY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. I'M VERY UNSATISFIED WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LEVEL AT THIS LOCATION!

"TAKATA RECALL" WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON RANDOMLY, THEY WILL SPEED UP AND SLOW DOWN. THEY WILL NOT TURN OFF EVEN WHEN CAR IS PARKED AND KEY IS OUT OF IGNITION. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD WHEN IT IS NOT RAINING AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURN ON BY THEMSELVES. I AM CONCERNED THIS WILL ALSO DRAIN MY BATTERY AND/OR BE A FIRE HAZARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, SITTING STATIONARY, AND WHEN CAR IS COMPLETELY OFF. I DO NOT HAVE A DOCUMENT TO UPLOAD AS I WAS DRIVING BUT I CAN TAKE A VIDEO IF NEEDED.

FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL REGARDING THE FUEL TANK DEFORMATION BUT THEY STATE THAT THE CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY ISSUE WHEN IT'S ABOVE 1/2 OF A TANK. I HAVE EXPERIENCES THE CAR STALLING AROUND 3/4 OF A TANK MULTIPLE TIMES NOW. THE CAR ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS COME ON. I HAVE TO PARK THE CAR AND RESTART IT. FORD HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE DUE TO LACK OF PARTS SINCE I TOOK MY CAR IN ON DEC. 6TH.

WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR MY VEHICLE IN DECEMBER 2018 FROM FORD. WE WERE TOLD THAT AS LONG AS THE GAS TANK IS FILLED AT 1/2 A TANK, THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. SINCE WE RECEIVED THE LETTER, MY VEHICLE HAS STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY THREE SEPARATE TIMES, EACH TIME RESULTING IN THE CAR HAVING TO BE PUSHED TO A SAFER LOCATION. IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE ANYTHING IS BEING DONE TO FIX THE SITUATION AND IT'S BECOMING UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I WANTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR NOT FIXING THIS ISSUE IN A TIMELY MANNER BEFORE IT BECOMES A MORE SERIOUS ISSUE WITH MY HUSBAND BEING HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 70+ MPH ON THE HIGHWAY.

MY VEHICLE HAS DIED ON ME WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND AFTER GETTING GAS IT DOES NOT WANT TO START AND WILL SPUTTER AND ACT LIKE IT IS GOING TO DIE, OR DIE OR IT WILL BE VERY HARD TO START. THE CAR WILL JUST DIE AT STOP SIGNS AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. YOU CAN NOT TELL IF THERE IS GAS OR NOT BECAUSE THE GAUGE DOES NOT WORK AND WILL GO TO FULL EVEN IF YOU ONLY PUT ONE DOLLAR IN AND THEN AT HALF A TANK IT WILL GO BACK TO SHOWING FULL. I KNOW IT IS LOW OF GAS AND IT WILL ONLY HOLD FIVE OR TEN DOLLARS AT A TIME NO MATTER WHAT I CAN NOT TELL WHAT AMOUNT IS IN THE CAR AND THE SOLUTION I RECEIVED FROM FORD WHILE WAITING ON PARTS IS TO KEEP IT HALF A TANK OR MORE BUT THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH GAS IS THERE. THEY HAVE ALSO TOLD ME THEY ARE BUSY AND MAYBE AWHILE ANYWAY AND THEY CANT GIVE ME A RENTAL CAR. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN RAN OVER, BEEN STRANDED AND MISSED WORK BECAUSE OF THIS AND NOW I HAVE NO WAY TO GO IF THEY DO GET PARTS IN TO FIX THIS. PRIOR TO THIS MY TRANSMISSION WAS CAUSING MY CAR TO DIE AND THE DOOR HINGE IS UNDER RECALL AND THEY CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED TOTALLY. I DONT TRUST THEM TO FIX IT AND THESE ARE LEMONS AND THEY KNEW THIS AND PEOPLE HAVE CRASHED BECAUSE OF THIS!! THEY ARE LYING AND SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THESE CARS. THIS IS UNFAIR , UNETHICAL AND DANGEROUS. YOU CANT DO THIS AND RISK SO MANY LIVES. DO SOMETHING BEFORE PEOPLE DIE PLEASE!!1 IT HAS STOPPED ON HIGHWAY, PARKING LOT AND CITY ROAD AND RURAL ROAD. IT HAS HAPPENED MANY MANY TIMES.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL DUE TO THE DEFORMED FUEL TANK. THE DEALERSHIP AND THE RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL CONFIRMED THAT MY FUEL TANK READINGS WILL BE INACCURATE DUE TO THIS ISSUE WITH THE DEFORMATION. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS ISSUE FIXED AND THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED TO FIX IT ACCORDING TO FORD'S RECALL. THEY ALSO SAID THAT I SHOULD NOT LONGER HAVE INACCURATE READINGS. TODAY, THE FUEL READING ARE STILL INACCURATE AND I AM CONCERNED THAT MY CAR MAY STALL AND ISSUE IS NOT ACTUALLY RESOLVED. THE READING ARE STILL OVER 100 MILES OFF. THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD REFUSE TO EVALUATE THE ISSUE AND/OR FIX THE ISSUE UNDER THE RECALL. THE PHOTO I PROVIDED BELOW DEMONSTRATES HOW OFF THE FUEL IS. PRIOR TO THIS PHOTO, MY TANK WAS ON EMPTY. I ADDED 5 GALLONS OF GAS OR ABOUT 150 MILES. A FULL TANK IS AROUND 345 MILES TYPICALLY FOR MY CAR BASE UPON HISTORICAL READINGS. IN THE PHOTO, THE ELECTRONIC GAUGE SAYS 215 MILES LEFT WHICH IS WRONG AND THE OTHER GAUGE READS THAT ITS ALMOST FULL (~315MILES) ALSO WRONG. THE READINGS SHOULD SAY AROUND 150 MILES. BOTH GAUGES ARE OFF AND THEY ALSO DO NOT COINCIDE.

2013 FORD FOCUS, WAS BOUGHT NEW FROM DEALERSHIP AND HAS HAD CLUTCH ISSUES FROM BEGINNING. THE CAR STUTTERS ON ACCELERATION, SHIFTS HARD, AND OCCASIONALLY THERE IS A DELAY WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED. A RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON THIS CAR AND THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED, BUT STILL HAD SAME ISSUE. THIS CAR HAS BEEN SEEN 8 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE, AND HAS NEVER BEEN RESOLVED. THE CLUTCH THAT WAS REPLACED DURING THE RECALL HAS FAILED THE PERFORMANCE TEST, BUT THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE DUE TO EXPIRED WARRANTY. RECENTLY ANOTHER RECALL WAS ISSUED ON THIS VEHICLE DUE TO A STUCK CANNISTER PURGE VALVE. THIS CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STALL AND THE FUEL METER TO READ INCORRECTLY. THIS CAUSED ME TO RUN OUT OF GAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY GAS METER REPORTED I STILL HAD HALF A TANK OF FUEL. ON 11/29/18, THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED THE RECALL AND BELIEVING MY FUEL METER TO NOW BE ACCURATE, I RAN OUT OF GAS AGAIN AT A QUARTER TANK FULL. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON AND IT IS AGAIN THROWING A CODE FOR THE PURGE VALVE. THIS CAR HAS SEVERAL SAFETY ISSUES WHICH FORD DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE AND UNWILLING TO REMEDY.
