Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2012-2018 Focus vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall number 18V735. The Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, causing the engine to stall unexpectedly while driving.

An engine that stalls while driving increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the powertrain control module (PCM) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 29, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S40. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on July 6,2026.

  2. Equipment, electrical, engine block heaterJan 15, 2026

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Focus, 2013-2019 Escape, and 2015-2016 MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.

An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.

Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed March 6, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S01. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on January 16, 2026.

  3. Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchJun 8, 2020

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

  4. Fuel system, gasoline, storageJul 5, 2019

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2012 and 2017 Focus vehicles equipped with 2.0L GDI gasoline engines and 2013-2014 Focus ST vehicles equipped with 2.0L GTDI engines, previously recalled under 18V-735. The affected vehicles did not have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) updated as intended. Therefore, the Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system.

The excessive vacuum may result in an engine stall while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module. Dealers will also check for fault codes and replace the CPV as needed. If the CPV is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. The recall began July 29, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S22.

  5. Fuel system, gasoline, storageOct 22, 2018

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2012-2018 Ford Focus vehicles with a 2.0L GDI or 2.0L GTDI engine. The Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in fuel vapor management system.

The excessive vaccuum may result in an engine stall while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module. Dealers will also check for fault codes and replace the CPV as needed. If the CPV is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. The recall began August 19, 2019. Owners may contact Ford Customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S32. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2017 Ford Focus hatchback vehicles manufactured February 14, 2012, to August 26, 2016 and equipped with a manual transmission. The hatchback of the affected vehicles may be unlatched with a single press of the interior latch release button. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."

With only a single press needed, the driver may accidently unlatch the hatchback, increasing the risk of injury to any unsecured passengers in the back.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Body Control Module with updated software, free of charge. The recall began February 10, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16C13.

A component within the door latches may break, preventing the doors from latching and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the door latches with an improved part, free of charge. The recall began on January 27, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S30.

  1. Structure, Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 3, 2020

FOR SOME TIME NOW I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET 2 RECALLS FIXED ON MY VEHICLE : 18V735 AND 16V643. WHEN I PREVIOUSLY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS YET FOR THE RECALLS. JUST YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING WITH A PASSENGER IN THE REAR SEAT OF THE CAR THE REAR DOOR CAME OPEN BY ITSELF AND NOW WILL NOT CLOSE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP (LOGANVILLE FORD IN MONROE GEORGIA) WHO TOLD ME 1. THAT THEY COULD NOT GET ME IN FOR THE REPAIR UNTIL NEXT WEDNESDAY (9/9) AND 2. THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE A LOANER VEHICLE. I EXPLAINED FIRST THAT HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO DRIVE A VEHICLE FOR A WEEK WITH A DOOR THAT WOULD NOT CLOSE? AND SECOND THIS IS MY ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION, THIS IS NOT SOMETHING I DID TO MY VEHICLE , THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND FORD AND / OR THE DEALERSHIP NEEDED TO PROVIDE A LOANER OR A RENTAL (AT THE MANUFACTURERS EXPENSE) UNTIL THE SAFETY REPAIRS CAN BE ADDRESSED AND MADE. I FURTHER EXPLAINED THAT SAFETY RECALLS SHOULD TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER OTHER REPAIRS AS IT IS A HAZARD AND SOMEONE CAN GET HURT. BOTH FORD AND THE DEALERSHIP ARE BOTH DENYING USE OF A LOANER AND I AM YET TO HEAR BACK ABOUT A RENTAL AT THE MANUFACTURERS EXPENSE AND I DO NOT THINK IT WILL COME TO FRUITION. I AM GOING TO REITERATE, THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I DID TO MY VEHICLE, THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY RECALL THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. IF THE LATCHES CAN BE REPLACED ON ALL 4 DOORS AND THE FUEL TANK DEFORMATION CAN ALL BE REPAIRED IN A FEW HOURS I HAVE NO PROBLEM WAITING ON THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER WE KNOW THAT THESE REPAIRS NEVER TAKE LESS THAN ONE DAY, ALL REPORTS I READ SAY IT MAY TAKE UP TO 4. THAT SAID, FORD NEEDS TO PROVIDE EITHER A LOANER OR A RENTAL AT THEIR EXPENSE, NOT MINE. THIS IS MY LAST STOP TO GET CLOSURE IN THIS CASE, I HAVE SPOKEN TO FAR TOO MANY PEOPLE AND AM NOT GETTING ANYWHERE, MY NEXT STOP WILL BE TO THE LOCAL AND NATIONAL NEWS.

  2. Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 14, 2020

I WAS DRIVING HOME WHEN OUT OF NOWHERE, MY VEHICLE IS STARTING TO STALL AND I KEPT PUNCHING THE GAS AND IT WAS LIKE THE KEY WAS OFF. LUCKILY, EVEN THO I WAS IN TRAFFIC, I WAS IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE AND THERE WAS A SHOULDER I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON. YOU CAN TURN IT OVER AND IT QUICKLY STALLS. WHEN I GOT MY VEHICLE TO BE CODE READ, IT SAID ,'NO FUEL DELIVERED TO THE FUEL RAIL.' I COULD HAVE CAUSED OR BEEN IN A HORRIBLE WRECK IF LUCK HAD NOT BEEN THAT I WAS CLOSE TO A SHOULDER TO PULL OVER AT. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING IN MULTIPLE LANES THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE

  3. Power train, Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 4, 2020

I WANT TO FINE A COMPLAINT AGAINST THE FORD DEALER. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS WITH PROBLEM. IT'S BECAUSE OF GAS EVAPORATIONS. I HAD WITH ME A LATTER THAT FORD SEND ME TO ME FOR RECALL WHICH I HAD TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME FOR IT. SUPPOSEDLY THEY REPAIRED THAT, WHEN THEY NEVER DID AND PROOF OF THIS IS THAT THERE IS THE PROBLEM AS WELL AS THE TRANSMISSION THEY JUST MARKED DONE AND THEY NEVER DID I, BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE PROBLEM BEFORE AND NOW I HAVE IT. THEY DON'T WANT TO REPAIRED THOSE 2 FACTORY FAILURES. I WANT TO SEE WHAT CAN I DO TO THEY FIX IT AT NOT COST SINCE. IT'S A FACTORY FAILURE AND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THAT PROBLEM. THAT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THEY SAID THAT IN THE LATTER THEY SEND ME. I SEND YOU A PICTURE I HAD. THEY TOOK THE ANOTHER ONE.

MY CAR STALLS WHEN DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING AND SHUTS OFF AFTER I FILL THE TANK AND WHEN THE TANK IS LOW. I HAVE DIFFICULTY STARTING THE VEHICLE WHEN I FILL UP. IT'S A RECALL ON THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE ON THE MAKE AND MODEL OF MY CAR BUT FORD SAYING IS VIN SPECIFIC AND MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED EVEN THOUGH I'M HAVING THAT PROBLEM. I PAID FOR THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. WHAT'S BEING RECALLED IS THE EXACT PROBLEM I AM HAVING BUT THEY WON'T FIX IT BECAUSE MY VIN ISN'T INCLUDED. *TR

  8. Suspension, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 13, 2020

I WANT TO KNOW WHY THE PEOPLE DRIVING THIS YEAR OF FORD FOCUS HAVE NOT BEEN COMPENSATED BY FORD FOR ALL OF THE "DEFECTS" ASSOCIATED WITH THIS VEHICLE? IN 3 YEARS TIME, I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY, SHOCKS, REPAIRED OIL LEAK, VAPOR MANAGEMENT VALVE AND REPLACED TIRES OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. THE RECALLS ARE UNREAL! I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP FOR "FUEL TANK DEFORMATION RECALL", THE "TCM CLUTCH SHUTTER" HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES. NOT TO MENTION THE TIMES I HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR THAT TO BE FIXED, ONLY TO BE TOLD IT WASN'T THE PROBLEM WHEN IT WAS LATER VERIFIED THAT IT WAS. AND NOW I RECEIVE NOTICE THAT THE DOORS FLY OPEN WHILE DRIVING! I CAN'T TRADE IT IN, BECAUSE I AM $3,000 UPSIDE DOWN BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS NOT WORTH SQUAT.I HAVE LOST EMPLOYMENT BECAUSE OF THIS VEHICLE AND IT HAS SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACTED MY AND MY FAMILY'S QUALITY OF LIFE BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE PROBLEMS IT HAS CAUSED. I HAVE BEEN LOSING GAS FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS AND THE MECHANIC'S CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. WHEN I FILL UP, THE MILES TO EMPTY WILL SHOW FOR EXAMPLE 274, WHEN I DRIVE 1 MILE BY THE ODOMETER, THE MILES TO EMPTY HAS INDICATED 6. THAT IS A HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY I HAVE LOST IN THE PAST 2 YEARS. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS NOT BEEN FORCED TO COMPENSATE US UNFORTUNATE PEOPLE THAT GOT "STUCK" WITH A VEHICLE THEY KNEW HAD ISSUES! I HAVE ALL PAPERWORK FOR EVERYTHING I HAVE STATED ABOVE BUT THERE ARE OVER 100 PIECES OF PAPER. IF YOU REQUIRE THIS FROM ME I CAN MAKE COPIES AND SEND TO YOU BUT TO UPLOAD EVERYTHING IS TOO MUCH. PLEASE HELP! I WOULD LIKE TO GET INTO A VEHICLE THAT IS SAFE TO DRIVE FOR ME AS WELL AS MY FAMILY. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IN FEAR SINCE A WEEK AFTER I PURCHASED THIS IN JAN 2017! *TR

GAS MILEAGE WAS NOT CORRECT AND TOOK TO A MECHANIC WHERE THEY FOUND A WARPED FUEL TANK THAT WAS CAUSING DISTANCE TO EMPTY TO BE INACCURATE. TOLD ME I NEEDED A FUEL TANK AND CHARCOAL CANISTER THAT WOULD COST OVER $1000 . CALLED A FORD DEALERSHIP TO EXPLAIN THAT IT WAS HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES TO A RECALL FORD FOCUSES ARE HAVING WITH THE FUEL TANK BUT TOLD ME THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND REACHED OUT TO FORD DIRECTLY AND TOLD ME THE SAME THING AND JUST TO MAKE SURE I KEEP MY RECEIPTS. THIS ISSUE OCCURS IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY AND CITY. THE FORD REFERENCE NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL IS 18S32. CAR WAS TAKEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE RECALLS DONE FOR THE TRANSMISSION, FUEL TANK EVAP AND DOOR LATCH. FORD COMPLETED THE RECALLS FOR THE FUEL SYSTEM AND DOOR LATCH AT THIS POTICULAR TIME THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT FIXED.(DID NOT PASS FORDS SHUTTER TEST). AT THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION, ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. I PICKED THE CAR UP AMD DROVE WITH MY SON THE VEHICLE DID NOT DRIVE RIGHT BECAUSE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AFTER CONTACTING FORD MOTOR COMPANY ABOUT MY CONCERN WITH THE DRIVABILITY OF THE CAR. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT BUT HAD TO WAIT APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS BECAUSE THEY WERE REPLACING THE FLOOR IN THEIR SHOP. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON THE ENTIRE TIME UNTIL THE APPOINTMENT. AFTER DROPPING HE CAR OFF AND FORD DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM, I RECEIVED A CALL SAYING FORD MOTOR IS NOW COVERING THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR PARTS TO FINISH IT. AT THIS TIME THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOW ON BECAUSE OF THE PURGE VALVE. I HAD BARELY DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE THE LAST VISIT WHEN THE RECALLS WERE TAKEN CARE OF?? THEY STATED THAT THE PURGE VALVE WOULD NOT BE COVERED BECAUSE THE RECALL HAD BEEN COMPLETED ON THE FUEL TANK. RELUCTANTLY I TOLD THEM TO REPLACE AT MY COST. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TO SAY THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETE. I PICKED IT UP THAT EVENING AND MADE IT 7 MILES AWAY FROM THE DEALER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ONCE AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALER IMMEDIATLEY TO LET THEM KNOW AND THEY COULD NOT GET ME IN RIGHT AWAY. MY SON AND I TOOK IT FOR A RIDE THE FOLLOWING DAY AND APPROXIMATY 40 MILES THE CAR LOST POWER AND COULD NOT GO ABOVE 40MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. I CALLED TO MAKE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WHEN THEY DIAGNOSED THIS TIME BOTH CATYLITIC CONVERTORS ARE BAD AND WILL COST $2100 TO REPAIR. WHAT CAUSED THESE TO GO BAD THIS WAS NOT AN ISSUE UNTIL RECA
