Equipment, electrical, engine block heaterJan 15, 2026
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Focus, 2013-2019 Escape, and 2015-2016 MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.
An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed March 6, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S01. Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchJun 8, 2020
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

Fuel system, gasoline, storageJul 5, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2012 and 2017 Focus vehicles equipped with 2.0L GDI gasoline engines and 2013-2014 Focus ST vehicles equipped with 2.0L GTDI engines, previously recalled under 18V-735. The affected vehicles did not have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) updated as intended. Therefore, the Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system.
The excessive vacuum may result in an engine stall while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module. Dealers will also check for fault codes and replace the CPV as needed. If the CPV is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. The recall began July 29, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S22.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."
With only a single press needed, the driver may accidently unlatch the hatchback, increasing the risk of injury to any unsecured passengers in the back.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Body Control Module with updated software, free of charge. The recall began February 10, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16C13.

THE CAR "BUCKS" WHEN SHIFTING THROUGH THE GEARS. THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR THREE YEARS. IT WAS PURCHASED AS A USED RENTAL CAR WITH 30,000 MILES, IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. WITHIN THREE MONTHS I HAD A CLUTCH REPLACED. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER, THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED AGAIN. NOW, LESS THAN TEN MONTHS LATER, THE CLUTCH HAS GONE BAD AGAIN. (THAN 25,000 MILES). I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WILL NOT BE COVERED. I WAS TOLD THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY CUSTOMER THAT HAS HAD THIS EXPERIENCE WITH CLUTCHES.

MY CAR HAS A SEVERE TRANSMISSION SHUDDER WHEN APPLYING GAS AFTER STOPPING. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED THAT IT NEEDS A NEW CLUTCH. I'M AWARE THAT FORD HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON ON THIS MODEL FOCUS DUE TO A DYSFUNCTION WITHIN THE DESIGN OF THE DUAL CLUTCH SYSTEM, HOWEVER MY VIN NUMBER HAS NOT RECEIVED THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR SOME REASO AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT REPAIRED. . THE CAR IS NOT SAFE DUE TO A DEFECT.

THE CAR WAS MAKING A RATTLING NOISE WHEN GOING UP HILLS AND WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION (STOP-LIGHT). THERE WAS ALSO SOME SHAKING AND JERKING. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE CLUTCH (A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ADDRESSED THIS). THE PROBLEM WAS REMEDIED ON 11/9/17. THE CAR IS STARTING TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME SYMPTOMS AGAIN ALTHOUGH THE RATTLING NOISE IS NOT AS LOUD AS IT WAS THE FIRST TIME. THE CAR MAKES A RATTLING SOUND WHEN GOING UP HILLS, AROUND CURVES, AND WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED BEFORE AND I WAS GIVEN THE RUN AROUND: I WAS TOLD THE RATTLING NOISE WAS "NORMAL". I ASKED FOR THE INVOICE TO SPECIFICALLY STATE, "THE RATTLING NOISE HEARD IS NORMAL" (IN ORDER TO DOCUMENT WHAT IS GOING ON), BUT THEY DID NOT HONOR THE REQUEST.

SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE WE HAVE ALL READY HAD THE CONTROL MODULAR CHANGED AND IT WAS PREVIOUSLY CHANGED 2 TIMES BY PREVIOUS OWNER IT NOW HAS BEEN AFFECTING THE CAR FOR 3 MONTHS AGAIN AND IT IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR VIOLENTLY SHACKS WHEN YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, IT SOME TIMES WON'T EVEN GO AT ALL! THIS HAS BECOME A MAJOR ISSUE AND EVERY OTHER FOCUS OWNER I SPEAK WITH SAYS THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND FORD WON'T DO ANYTHING... MY PART IS WARRANTED BUT NOT THE LABOR AND THAT'S THE EXPENSIVE PART, THIS IS A ONGOING ISSUES AND NOT FAIR TO SOMEONE THAT STILL HAS 3 YEARS TO PAY ON A CAR...
Power train, Jul 26, 2018
IT ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT BUT I GOT A "TRANSMISSION FAULT. SERVICE NOW" WARNING LIGHT AND THE CAR JERKED VIOLENTLY. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED (80 MPH) ON A HIGH WAY - I LIVE IN TEXAS WHERE 80 MPH IS LEGAL. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT RISK AND CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS AS A CAR BEHIND ME COULD HAVE EASILY RAN INTO ME AS I LOST SPEED WHEN TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. PLEASE HAVE FORD RECALL THESE DANGEROUS VEHICLES IN ORDER TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS FROM HAPPENING.

DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN ATLANTA, GA TRAVELING AROUND 65 MPH AND THE CAR LOST POWER AND THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SLOW LANE TO BE ABLE TO PULL ON THE SHOULDER, AS I HAD NO POWER. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON, I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE AND EXIT THE INTERSTATE, BUT THE CAR LOST POWER AGAIN SHORTLY AFTER AND I HAD TO PULL OVER AND POWER CYCLE AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE BOGS DOWN, HAS LOW POWER, AND SLOW ACCELERATION. DOES NOT SHOW ANY FAULT CODES OR SERVICE LIGHTS. I TOOK THIS FORD FOCUS TO TWO DIFFERENT SHOPS; ONE OF THEM BEING A FORD DEALER. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. NO PART FAILURES. NO CODES TO TROUBLESHOOT. THEY SAID THAT THEY CAN NOT EXPLAIN THE REASONING FOR THIS BY THE CAR SEEMS FINE ALTHOUGH IT HAS THIS ISSUE. IT MAKES LEAVING FROM A STOP VERY DANGEROUS AS THE CAR IS REALLY SLOW TO ACCELERATE. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED TWO ACCIDENTS WHERE OTHER DRIVERS ARENT EXPECTING MY SLOW ACCELERATION. THIS IS COMMON IN THE VEHICLES WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. BUT MY FOCUS HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. SO FORD DEALERS AND SERVICE SUPPORT ONLINE ARE AT A MISS FOR WHAT THE ISSUE WOULD BE AS THE VEHICLE SHOWS NO ISSUES IN THE HEALTH REPORT. AFTER TALKING TO FORD SERVICE ONLINE THEY HAVE ASKED FOR ME TO GO TO THE NHTSA AND PLACE AN OFFICIAL REPORT SO THAT THIS ISSUE CAN BE INVESTIGATED AS IT IS NOT THE FIRST. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD THE SPARK PLUGS, COILS REPLACED AND STILL NO DIFFERENCE. THIS IS A DANGER FOR ANYONE DRIVING OR NEAR THIS VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING.
Power train, Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 19, 2018
TRANSMISSION: WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION IN SOME CASES WILL SHIFT VERY RAPIDLY GIVING THE VEHICLE NO ACCELERATION POWER. THE VEHICLE FEELS SLUGGISH AND VIBRATES. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING OVER SPEED HUMPS OR THROUGH AN INTERSECTION IN ALMOST EVERY INSTANCE THE VEHICLE STARTS TO VIBRATE AFTER GOING OVER THE SPEED HUMP OR THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. FUEL PUMP: WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE CAR LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING IN LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO. THE CAR DID NOT STALL COMPLETELY HOWEVER WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR WOULD JUST NOW INCREASE IN RPM'S. I TOOK THE CAR INTO A MECHANICS SHOP AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM. I DRIVE THE CAR FOR ANOTHER YEAR AND THIS TIME THE CAR AGAIN STARTED TO SPUTTER. IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE FUEL PUMP.
Power train, Jun 5, 2018
THE VEHICLE DOES A STUDDERING AND STALLING. IN 2015, FORD SAID THEY FIXED IT AND THAT SOME OF THE STUDDERING IS BECAUSE IT'S A 4 CYL VEHICLE. IN MAY 2018 I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK STATING THE SAME ISSUE BUT WORST. THEY SAID IT'S THE TCM AND IT WOULD COST ME $1850. I COMPLAINED TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY. FORD SAID THEY FIXED IT. THE NEXT DAY I HAD TO BRING THE CAR BACK BECAUSE THE DASHBOARD SAID "TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING PLEASE STOP" THEN IT STALL ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I TOOK IT BACK TO THEM AND ASKED WHAT DID THEY FIXED. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR 2 DAYS THEN CALLED ME TO TELL ME IT'S THE CLUTCH AND IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND IT COSTS $2400. THE CLUTCH IS PART OF THE TRANSMISSION SO WHY ISN'T IT? THEY ARE NOW TELLING ME BECAUSE MY CAR HAS 94000 MILES ON IT THAT IT IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. WHO BUYS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE FOR IT TO CONK OUT ON THEM AT 94000? THEY WILL NOT FIX MY CAR WITHOUT ME PAYING FOR IT. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART THAT FORD HAS AND THEY REFUSE TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE MATTER AND RESOLVE IT. I HAD TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST FORD REGARDING THIS. SEVERAL OTHERS ARE NOW BEING COMPENSATED BUT THEY ARE RESIDENTS OF CA WHICH HAS STRICTER LEMON LAWS. THE SUIT IS NOW ON HOLD.

THE DUAL CLUTCH POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION HAS BEGUN TO FAIL ON ME. IT JERKS SUDDENLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, HAS RPM FLARES AND WILL NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE. WHEN BROUGHT TO SAYVILLE FORD, LENNY TOLD ME THAT THIS PARTICULAR MODEL 2014 FORD FOCUS WAS NOT COVERED BY ANY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WOULD THEREFORE COST ME 2200 TO REPAIR. HE DID EXPLAIN TO ME THAT THE TCM WAS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THIS WAS APPARENTLY NOT THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. I CONTINUE TO HAVE THESE ISSUES.

I HAVE A 2014 FORD FOCUS THAT HAS A DPS6 TRANSMISSION THAT NEEDS TO HAVE THE CLUTCHES REPLACED. I BOUGHT USED IN DEC 2015 AND IN EARLY 2016 I STARTED TO HAVE SHUTTERING PROBLEMS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER I HAD THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN. TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS LEARNING HOW YOU DRIVE AND THIS WAS NORMAL. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER THAT MY ENGINE STALLED BECAUSE MY TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT GO BETWEEN GEARS. I FINALLY GOT MY CAR STARTED AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REFLASHED MY TCM. MY CAR RAN ALRIGHT FOR AWHILE AND THEN I STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS AGAIN WITH SHIFTING AND SHUDDERING. TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD MY CLUTCHES WERE OUT OF SPECS AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $2,000 WHICH I CANNOT AFFORD. AT NO TIME DID THE DEALER GIVE ME ANY PAPERWORK. EVEN AFTER I ASKED FOR PAPERWORK. NOW I CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH SHUDDERING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE GO AWAY AFTER THE CAR SITS OVERNIGHT. WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD EVERYTHING WORKS FINE UNTIL THE ENGINE GETS WARM AND THEN I START HAVING PROBLEMS AGAIN. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH. I NOTICE THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 16-0109. HOWEVER FORD WILL NOT FIX. THEY TELL ME MY CAR IS NOT ON THIS LIST. WHATEVER THIS MEANS. I AM TRULY FRUSTRATED WITH FORD AND I AM AFRAID THAT I MAY CAUSE A ACCIDENT. APPARENTLY I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES? FORD KNOWING KNEW ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS AND CONTINUED TO SELL THESE VEHICLES AND NOT FORCED TO FIX.
