Equipment, electrical, engine block heaterJan 15, 2026
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Focus, 2013-2019 Escape, and 2015-2016 MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.
An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed March 6, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S01. Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchJun 8, 2020
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

Fuel system, gasoline, storageJul 5, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2012 and 2017 Focus vehicles equipped with 2.0L GDI gasoline engines and 2013-2014 Focus ST vehicles equipped with 2.0L GTDI engines, previously recalled under 18V-735. The affected vehicles did not have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) updated as intended. Therefore, the Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system.
The excessive vacuum may result in an engine stall while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module. Dealers will also check for fault codes and replace the CPV as needed. If the CPV is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. The recall began July 29, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S22.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."
With only a single press needed, the driver may accidently unlatch the hatchback, increasing the risk of injury to any unsecured passengers in the back.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Body Control Module with updated software, free of charge. The recall began February 10, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16C13.

DELAYED ACCELERATION AND PROBLEMS WITH DOWNSHIFTING RESULT IN UNSAFE MOVEMENT. THESE UNSAFE CONDITIONS OCCUR WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, DECELERATING, AND WHILE IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND YET THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 38,000 MILES ON IT. THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN PRESENT SINCE THE DAY I DROVE THE BRAND NEW CAR OFF THE LOT. I HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS YET, BUT FEEL VERY UNSAFE AND AN ACCIDENT IS INEVITABLE. FORD SERVICE HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH MY TMC WHICH CONTROLS MY CLUTCH. THE TMC HAD TO BE RECALIBRATE A YEAR AND A HALF AGO AND A NEW CLUTCH NEED TO TO BE INSTALLED. WHEN THERE IS AN ISSUE THE CAR "SHUDDERS", LOSES SPEED, HAS TROUBLE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC OR TAKING TURNS. AGAIN MY CAR FELT THE SAME WAY. APPARENTLY THIS TIME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TMC, BUT THE CLUTCH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, JUST ABOUT 18 MONTHS LATER. TO HAVE MY CLUTCH REPLACED TWICE WITHIN THREE YEARS SEEMS ABSURD. EVEN THE DEALERSHIP NOTES THAT THE CLUTCH PACKAGE PUT IN MY CAR THE FIRST TIME HAD KNOWN ISSUES AND WEREN'T THAT GREAT. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. I'D HOPE FORD OR SOMEONE LOOKS FURTHER INTO THIS. THERE SEEMS TO BE A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT IN THE WORKS, BUT I AT LEAST WANTED TO VOICE MY SAFETY CONCERNS. KINDEST REGARDS

I HAD IT TOWED TO A NEARBY FIRESTONE, WHICH RAN A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH REVEALED THAT A PORTION OF THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE AND HAS RESULTED IN SPLICING OF WIRES, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, #14-0215 BUT THAT FOR IS REFUSING TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE STILL IS UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE SEIZED AND EFFECTIVELY STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT WARNING, AND I'M LUCKY THAT NO ONE WAS HARMED. SEE ATTACHED INVOICE FOR REPAIR INFORMATION.

WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE UP A STEEP CITY STREET, THE ENGINE LUGGED DOWN AND ALMOST DIED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE REACHING THE TOP OF THE HILL. I WOULD RELEASE AND STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL AND IT WOULD REV UP A LITTLE, BUT THEN THE POWER WOULD DROP OFF AGAIN ALMOST DIED EACH TIME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY WERE ABLE TO FIX IT. THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SHIFTING DOWN UNDER LOAD AS IT SHOULD HAVE. IT NOW APPEARS TO BE WORKING PROPERLY. IF THE ENGINE HAD QUIT, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WOULD HAVE BEEN LOST AND IF THAT HAD HAPPENED I MAY HAVE ROLLED BACK DOWN THE HILL, THROUGH A BARRICADE AND ONTO THE FREEWAY ABOUT 30 FEET BELOW. THANK GOD THAT DID NOT HAPPEN.

TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED IT(3/31/2014). IT HESITATES FROM A DEAD STOP OR IN MOTION, SHUTTERS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. SLIPS OUT OF GEAR FROM A DEAD STOP OR IN MOTION. AFTER I BROUGHT IT IN FOR A RECALL (1/18/2017) IT NOW SLIPS OUT OF GEAR AND DEALER SAYS IT NEEDS A NEW CLUTCH FOR $2,000 WHEN IT DID NOT HAVE THAT ISSUE BEFORE THE RECALL. I DRIVE 95% HIGHWAY. CAR HAS 76,000 MILES ON IT. IT'S AN AUTOMATIC. I'VE HAD MULTIPLE CARS WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS IN THEM AND THEY HAD OVER 200,000 MILES ON THEM WITH NO ISSUES. I BELIEVE THIS TRANSMISSION IS DEFECTIVE AND FORD NEEDS TO REPLACE IT. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR IN SEVERAL TIMES BEGINNING WITH THE FIRST WEEK I HAD IT WITH TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A LOT MORE BUT THEY STATED THIS IS NORMAL. I NOW HAVE A CAR I CAN'T DRIVE NOR HAVE $2,000 TO FIX IT. I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF MY CARS AND EXPECTED THIS TO LAST LONGER THAN 3 YEARS BEFORE A MAJOR REPAIR. NOW WITH THIS KNOWN ISSUE, MY $30,000 VEHICLE THAT I PAID FOR ONLY 3 YEARS AGO IS ONLY WORTH ABOUT $6,000 ON A TRADE IN. I STILL OWE $12,000 ON IT. HOW IS THIS NORMAL OR FAIR. REPAIRING A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION IS NOT A SOLUTION SINCE IT WILL FAIL AGAIN. IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IS IT TRUE THAT FORD KNEW ABOUT THESE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS YET STILL INSTALLED THEM? THIS IS NOT FAIR TO US AS CONSUMERS TO KNOWINGLY BE SOLD A DEFECTIVE UNSAFE VEHICLE. PLEASE CONSIDER PLACING A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES AS THEY ARE UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN THEIR CURRENT CONDITION.

AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO COMPLAIN TO THE ORGINAL DEALERSHIP METRO FORD ON NOLAND ROAD OF THE ISSUE I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A SHUDDER TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THE FORD DEALERSHIP WILL NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE AND ALTHOUGH THEY STATED THEY RESET THE ISSUE THEY TRY TO CONVINCE ME THAT IT IS NORMAL WHEN IN FACT IT IS NOT. THIS VEHICLE IS AN EXTREME HAZARD AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE FOR ME AND MY CHILDREN. I AM AFRAID IT WILL STALL AT A BUSY INTERSECTION IN THE FUTURE.
